New Lunch Restaurant Izzy and Wook’s Serves Filipino Fusion in SoMa - Eater SF

"Bonchon is a Korean fried chicken shop located inside the Metreon. Opened by Manuel and Cheryl Ramirez in 2021, it represents their first venture after closing their popular Inay Filipino Kitchen locations. The restaurant continues to operate alongside their new Filipino fusion restaurant, Izzy & Wooks." - Paolo Bicchieri

APEC: Downtown San Francisco Restaurant Owners Want the City to Cover Losses During Conference - Eater SF

"Manuel Ramirez, who owns the Korean fried chicken spot Bonchon at the Metreon, tells the Chronicle that he stocked up his kitchen ahead of the conference because his suppliers weren’t willing to work around the security measures in place for APEC. But rather than a bump in business, he says he estimates the business lost about $50,000; had he chosen to close for the week instead, he could have minimized the damage to about $10,000." - Lauren Saria

Here’s Where to Eat While You’re Holiday Shopping in the Bay Area

"The massive mall right on Market Street isn’t only nine stories tall, it also boasts dozens of dining options, from Shake Shack burgers to hot dogs topped with kimchi and bulgogi at Umai Savory hot dogs. But there are many downtown restaurants nearby, including the new location of the wildly popular Korean fried chicken chain Bonchon inside the Metreon. The pro move is to cut through Bloomingdale’s and cross Mission for that “hand-battered, double-fried, crazy crispy” Korean fried chicken." - Lauren Saria, Becky Duffett

I've always wanted to try Korean fried chicken, I've heard so many good things about it. Finally had the opportunity to do so in San Fran and man, was it a disappointment. The driest, most flavorless, and unappetizing chicken I've ever eaten. I couldn't even finish it. I tried my best to but it was too damn tough for no reason, hard to chew and no seasoning. The crispy skin at the bottom was probably the only decent part of it. Everything else, trash. Sorry, but this is my honest review. Maybe another state will have better chicken 🤷🏽‍♀️

Tried for the first time. Staff was extremely friendly! However, there was barely any sauce on the chicken and the pork buns didn’t have much flavor or sauce. I also unfortunately had a stomach ache long after consuming. I think the biggest downfall is how expensive it was ($35 for 10 wings and 3 small pork buns)

Great price for what you get! Especially if you get the daily special. 2 drumsticks and a rice for $6 bucks!! I got the spicy glaze and it was FIRE 🔥.

Love that Bonchon chicken, but this mall one was a slightly lower quality.
