"The Austin-area is getting its very first Bonchon, the popular Korean fried chicken chain, which is now open in Round Rock on 2800 South I-35. For now, the restaurant is open for dine-in dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, according to a staffer. Bonchon is most known for its Korean fried chicken, available in wings (bone-in or boneless) or drumsticks in spicy or soy garlic flavors. There are other Korean dishes available like bibimbap, bulgogi, japchae, tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), kimchi, and more. Then there are other general Asian dishes too like potstickers, takoyaki, udon noodle soup, and shumai, plus tacos, sliders, and wraps. Beer will be served too." - Nadia Chaudhury

I’m writing this the week after the opening. I went on a Friday night. It was packed, waited about 45 min to be seated. ( I had previously tried this place in New York so I knew it was going to be good so we didn’t mind waiting. The food is delicious!! Great friendly service! The wings, I got half spicy half soy garlic. Super crispy soo good!!! The shrimp dumplings and other appetizers were just as delicious! I definitely recommend trying this place. You may just have to wait awhile but it’s definitely worth it!

Went there during their soft opening. The fried wings and drum sticks are absolutely fantastic. Freshly fried to perfection. Crispy outside and inside is still juicy. We ordered half and half spicy and regular. The spicy is REALLy spicy. The fried rice, bulgogi, etc are good but not great. But this is soft opening so hope that they will iMprove from there. The main attraction is the fried chicken anyway. Just glad that this is available in Round Rock!

Had a fantastic time at Bonchon, glad we finally got one in Austin! The staff was great and the food was delicious. Get the spicy chicken tacos, the fried rice and of course, the wings!!

The food was good but it’s pricey for what you get. I had the lunch special which was 6 pieces of chicken, pickled radishes, and a water - over $12 with tip. The fried chicken texture was good but there wasn’t much sauce on them. I ended up leaving pretty hungry still. I’ll give it another try at some point since it’s new. Hopefully it will be a better experience.

I don’t do negative reviews, but this was one of the worst value propositions I’ve ever encountered. I ordered a 10 piece strips plate, but what I received was 5 pieces cut in half to make 10. When I called the store to ask if this was an error, they said that’s how they are served. Should be noted that the picture on their online menu shows 10 full pieces. I’ve never had any issue at other Bonchon locations, but I also normally order wings. $15 for 5 pieces of chicken doesn’t make sense, no matter how you slice it.

Service was not very professional. I got the medium wings combo which is 5 drumsticks and 10 wings. The food came out and it looked lacking. So I counted to see if there were 15 pieces but there were only 13. So I told the waiter hey this is missing some. He just stared at me for a little and then said how many. They should have just taken it back to figure that out but I had to count them in front of him and then also explain what the difference between a drumlette wing piece is vs a drumstick. It's a bit degrading to have to count your food pieces in front of the waiter. Plus check out how small these "wing" pieces are. The drumlette is smaller than my pinky finger.

(Updated) I think they still need to improve their serve. Food is still great as always Food is really great. But the staff needs more training...one of staff didn’t even what Amber Beer is....🤔

You can tell when food is freshly prepared by hand with fresh ingredients, and this is just the place for that. The food was great, and the staff was friendly as well. It's a brand new place and is already quite popular, so get here early or be ready to wait, but the food is well worth it!
