Just ordered food from this location on door dash once I received my food it was ice cold and no sauce on the chicken and my wife’s bulgogi was un fit to eat, it was more of a stew and flavorless. I called this location and spoke with a manager but was told they use a “standard” amount of sauce I offered to bring the food back for a refund but the manager denied a refund. Very unprofessional and was getting a disgusting tone over the phone and said there is nothing he can do. for 100$ of almost no food I expect ok food and ok service but this place lacks the basic standards I get better service from jack in the box and that says a lot. Save your money and avoid this San Leandro location.

2nd time to be here. The first time was when my son invited me to have dinner with him. My son loves chicken and goes anywhere with chicken in the menu. My son and I loved their delicious chicken where they are known for.

Years ago when Bonchon arrived in the Bay Area I had the chance to try their chicken at the South San Francisco location. However, I was not impressed but I may want to give the chicken a second chance. This time in San Leandro I ordered the Bibimbap, and what a mistake. I suggest to customers to never try anything that a restaurant is not known for other than their specialty. So if you come here don’t try their bibimbap, tacos, wraps, japjae , etc. On their menu it is not listed whether you are getting the hot stone bowl or the cold bibimbap. This is a big deal for me because I don’t like the hot stone. It literally stays fire hot beyond the time that you stay there. Plus the waiters do not warn you and there’s no protection between you and the hot pot. You easily can burn yourself. So do not order it if you are with little kids. Now for the food. The bibimbap I got was very Americanized. They used few and very cheap ingredients in it. You don’t even get any banchan (side dishes). For the meat I requested chicken but they don’t serve you dakgui. Instead I got some dry, tough chicken breast meat. Flavor wise it was not good either. The chef placed the little container of sauce on top of the boiling meat which allowed the plastic container to melt on top of the food. I don’t know why this was considered safe. And the thing that I consider the worst was the use of American rice instead of Asian rice. Yup, they definitely used long grain rice. Anyway, not coming back for this item again. The best part this visit was the service. The boys were attentive. If you use the hand dryer in the bathroom, be ready for a deafening experience.

The location feels like it just gets a wipe down with water no cleaner. The food was alright. I've dined at other Bonchon locations and it didn't taste the same. My friend requested for the veggies in his dish to be chopped up, and the poor waiter had to inform us the kitchen stated they could not chop the veggies. Weird, chefs who don't know how to use knives? The tepenyaki wasn't cooked well, too soft on the inside for how hard it was fried. The chef clearly loves adding sauces to the dishes as it was drenched in mayo and bbq sauce. The staff were kind otherwise

A lot of food for the price and the fried chicken here is really good. The fries are solid too. Usually not too busy midweek. Decent beer and soju selection

Came here to have a snack and try their Korean chicken. Food was very tasty and the place is very clean. The servers r very friendly and take immediate action if there is something wrong. The only complaint I have is that the radish was a bit bland and overly sweet. They have numerous locations all over the US and world. Maybe Korean fried chicken domination will happen sooner than we expect;0 Next time I am in the area, I would definitely want to try other food from the menu.

Double fried chicken is one of life's pleasures! :) Bonchon's KFC is crispy and moist, not heavily breaded and dry as a lot of fried chicken I've tried lately. And if you like spicy, the spicy is truly spicy, not overly so though, so don't be discouraged. I like to have both the spicy and soy garlic combination, so we can get the best of both worlds. We've tried other food here as well, the seasoned fries (get it), the Japchae (meh), and the tacos (just okay). I would stick with the fries and the KFC. The kimchi side is very small for the price so I wouldn't order it again. A Medium portion is good for two people if you want to take some leftovers home. I've also pre-ordered here for a party and they had it ready for pick up at the appointed time. Parking in this lot can get tricky when during peak time but there's plenty of street parking on Hays St. We will definitely be back here.

Food delivery review: Wings and fries were still hot and crispy and everything else kept pretty well too. The flavors themselves arent anything too special but it's still some solid lunch grub.

Yelp
My infatuation for chicken wings started with Bonchon. I blame Bonchon for this addiction. And because of it, I got standards. Friends, if you're new to KorAm foods, here's a good rule of thumbs: Crispy chicken wings a must. Tossed with sauce. Yaaazzz! Half and half. Japchae = a requirement. Tteokbokki = comfort food.

Nancy C.

Yelp
Definitely a personal choice on the food. I was excited to taste the advertised spicy chicken sandwich and was disappointed as it did not meet my expectations. Service great. Ambiance nice. Once you are indoors.

Kaelin N.

Yelp
Something was off. I've been to other Bonchon locations, and this one was not it. It didn't taste right. It was lacking the flavors I greatly antifipated from Bochon. I also ordered wings and they gave us combo (wings and drums). The servers seemed young, but were nice and helpful. A little disappointing with our food here.

Theresa M.

Yelp
I find their fried chicken just way too big but I just like eating them w the combination of coleslaw, pickled raddish and carrots. So I only eat 1 pc of chicken. I liked their spicy one and garlic soy sauce. My husband likes the sweet one. The service is fast and good though I always ordered takeout. I have always gone in this branch and twice in South SF on Westborough Avenue.

Briana V.

Yelp
Bonchon in my opinion is a great last resort kind of meal. The chicken is always cooked perfectly which I got the soy garlic and the Japchae is flavorful. When eating this meal you don't feel overly stuffed and it fills you up just right. The service was very quick and friendly with no long so I got seated right away. I recommend Bonchon if you are looking for a flavorful meal that is reasonably priced.

Sharlain R.

Yelp
We recently ordered from Bonchon and were very disappointed with the quality of the food. We got a 12-piece boneless wings, and unlike our previous visits, they were dry and lacked sauce. We were also disappointed with the bulgogi, which tasted more like a bland beef stew with little to no flavor. We understand this is a fast-food chain and not a sit-down restaurant, but the quality has significantly declined since the last time we ate here about a year ago. For the cost--$99 through DoorDash for just six items--we expected much better. We don't eat out often and usually cook at home, so it was frustrating to spend so much on food that fell so short. This experience has left us hesitant to return. After my husband called the manager which we did not get the name of, he did not want to work with us what so over. Gave him a nasty tone over the phone and had zero customer service skills. We offered to take back all the ford for a refund but stated absolutely not.

Darin T.

Yelp
I'm not totally sure why but this location does NOT taste like typical BonChon locations. I've been to Sunnyvale, San Jose, etc. and they're all consistently good-- super crispy, with a semi-glossy caramelized sauciness, juicy inside and out. This locations chicken is dry in its sauciness, almost like a dry rub. The chicken isn't as juicy, and it just doesn't have that crispy saucy shell we love and expect from Bonchons. Wish they would tweak the recipe to standardize because as-is, it's got nothing going for it to set it apart.

Ira E.

Yelp
Cancelled my order online for delivery. I put "0" as tip because I was gonna tip with cash. They said there's a "system error" I doubt it.

Karen Y.

Yelp
I use to love Bonchon but the wings are completely different now. I typically order 20 piece - 10 spicy and 10 soy garlic. I usually get my order to go as the rice here sucks and I rather eat my wings with my own rice. Service is ok as their is always someone standing at the register to hand out orders.

Sandra K.

Yelp
Only rating Soy Garlic Wings Our go-to for KFC is Bonchon. Their wings are pretty meaty and always fried to perfection. And the soy garlic is finger licking good! We came w some friends and order the Large (30) soy garlic wings, fries, onion rings, and fried zucchini. All the fried goodies. All were good sides for our chicken. We've tired other stuff before but they weren't really good. So 5 stars for the chicken. Minus 1 star for all the other menu items I would not order again from previous visits. Service was good. Restaurant was clean and hip.

Jen-Jen B.

Yelp
Delivery review. My sister decided on some bonchon chicken. She ordered half soy garlic and half spicy. As well as an order of soy garlic chicken strips. Food arrived promptly and well packaged. I'm not a coleslaw person but I do like me some pickled daikon which both items came with the order. Fulfilled our Korean chicken wing cravings for sure.

Veronica L.

Yelp
Soy garlic Korean fried chicken at its finest. Wish there was a closer location but this is it since the Berkeley Bonchon closed. I like the combo lunch special which offers 2 drumsticks and 4 wings. Crispy and very flavorful. I wish the radish was a little more pickled though. Will be back when I'm in the area.

Penelope M.

Yelp
I forgot to take a pic of the japchae but this place is a 9/10 js because the wings had not enough sauce but everything was deliciousssss

Yelp
Great food and service! We arrived after 6 pm on a Thursday afternoon and got a table immediately. The server was attentive and gave suggestions on the menu. He also asked us what we thought of the limited time flavor we ordered, which was nice. We got half wings half drums and split the flavors. The spicy one is our favorite! The crisp on the skin is delicious and the meat is so juicy! The bulgogi tacos were good too. We recommend dining in if you want to get the best chicken experience. We usually order to go and the skin is less crispy when eating at home.

Doris G.

Yelp
Craving Korean Fried chicken so came here for some marinated crunchy wings and drumsticks aka Half & Half Combo. We shared the Bibimbap and Japchae and an order of bulgogi and a bowl of white rice. They have a Tv on every wall so multiple sports can be shown. Friendly service unlimited Diet Coke. Place was quiet enough to carry on a conversation without shouting.

Miguel R.

Yelp
The food is amazing I love the wings is way better than buffalo wild wings in my opinion they are too overpriced and always terrible service.. Bonchon is dope

Nick F.

Yelp
Worst customer service not from the servers though. Manager does not know how to talk. Very mean, disrespectful, racist.

Chrenzoe Christian B.

Yelp
I live 3 blocks away from this joint. I always loved the whole Bonchon Korean fried chicken chain. Food is always good and fresh. Service is warm and welcoming. The people inside are always happy when I see them eat. And the servers are always nice. The ambiance of the place could brighten up a bit, its a little dark themed inside. But I would always go here for a quick fried chicken crave

Jon G.

Yelp
BUYER BEWARE: This location is not up to the quality that Bonchon is known for. Seems like the owner has altered the recipe, or orders different product than other franchises. Ordered $60 worth of food and was very disappointed after taking home. I will definitely never be coming back here as long as this is an issue. I recommend Bonchon in South City or Pleasanton instead, those seem to be of better quality. Just take my word, you will be disappointed if you order here expecting Bonchon. It tastes like mall food.

Eric E.

Yelp
I love Bonchon! It's the best American-Korean fusion franchise. They are quick and they never mess up an order.

Victor C.

Yelp
I just ate here today after going to the San Leandro cherry festival. I ordered at the front counter since there was a large sign that said "order and pay here". The older man didn't address me as I was looking at the menu posted at the front, but I said "I'm ready to order" and told him what I wanted (bibimbap, and confirmed there was kimchi on top). At no point was I asked "take our or dine-in?", but I assumed he knew I wanted to dine in bc I ordered at the counter (NOT via instructions at the "pickup" station), and sat down in the dining room. A few minutes later, a younger server handed me my food in a to-go bag, with no utensils or napkins. I looked at him confused and tried to get my food out to eat in the table I was sitting at. The server politely offered me silverware and a napkin and I started to eat after thanking him. However a few moments later, the older man who took my order (Soo) rudely came up to me and started lecturing me about "no dining in". I looked up at him so confused, as never once did he ask me about dine in or take out, nor was there a sign that said the restaurant is takeout only (there were two other older Caucasian parties dining-in at the time). After I asked him what he was talking about, he lectured me the same thing several times and said "just this once I will let you, just this once I will let you". Wtf.... I finished eating the food, because I was hungry, but tbh it was mediocre and the lecturing attitude of "Soo" (bald older man) also ruined my experience there. Attached is photographic proof there was no "takeout order" on my receipt, and that even if I wanted to dine-in after asking for takeout, this is a pretty rude policy. He ideally should have apologized that he forgot to ask me "take out or dine in" rather than assuming I wanted "takeout", then lecturing me for his own mistake.

Yelp
I usually past by this place daily but wanted to try it out. I walked on for a lunch and the service was great, good customer service, as I was greeted before I sat down. I ordered the combo chicken special, as the waiter was nice and very polite. The sauce of choice was soy garlic for the chicken. The Chicken came out fast and it was very hot. I bit into the chicken and it was very tasteful and really surprised me. If you are in the area, try this place is reasonable and very good. Enjoy!!!!

Michelle G.

Yelp
Restaurant seating closed only pickup which was disappointing for a Sunday lunch. The yum drum deal price wasn't bad (small) but prices on lots of other items seemed high.

Shellyann Marie A.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with the wings here. I always order wings with Yangnyeom sauce and I also get steamed shomi. I always get extra radish. I love to eat the wings with a bite of Radish.

Clair S.

Yelp
DO NOT GO!!! Don't waste your money!!!! This is not Korean Chicken! I know what Korean chicken supposed to be. This place use old oil. They sell not fried chicken but burned chicken. They are like dried wood sticks!!! Don't even deserve one star!!!!!!!! It was worst fried chicken for me and my bf ever had in our whole lives! It made us losing appipitite for ever eating fried chicken again. If this is part of Bonchon chain I know, they better control their quality. The chickens got re-fried so many times. We end up thowing away every thing after eating a piece.

Trinh P.

Yelp
Soy garlic combo, fried rice, pork buns and fries are a must! Korean fried chicken is soooo good and super crispy as it's doubled fried. But it's not greasy! Plenty of parking in the plaza. The place is spacious and clean and there's usually never a wait as we get seated right away. There's not a lot of Korean fried chicken in the area so this is a good option.

David F.

Yelp
Never heard of this place until today while I was browsing DoorDash. The food looked and sounded pretty good so I gave it a go. I ordered the 24pc Boneless wings, The Korean tacos with Bulgogi, the Popcorn shrimp and the Pork buns. Let me start off by saying the place is very pricey. I figured with these prices that it had to be amazingly good. With the boneless wings I did the half/half with Soy Garlic and Korean Bbq sauces. They do not come with dips. The chicken was good with the soy garlic ones getting the slight edge. They weren't very saucy though. Like not at all. They weren't dry though either if that makes sense. They also give you a small (very small) complimentary coleslaw with it. The popcorn shrimp was my pretty good and they give you a decent amount. Only one dip though so I had to pay for another one. The dip was ok but I didn't really care for it. It was a Spicy Mayo flavor. The Korean tacos weren't bad but for $17 you think they'd have put more bulgogi in them. I could only taste lettuce, sauce and coleslaw. Was very disappointed with those. Lastly the Pork buns tasted good but the pork belly itself was hard. Had the meat been tender I'm sure they would have been amazing. The food is not bad by any means but definitely not worth the $80 I spent. Not sure if I would go back again. Maybe if they lowered the prices.

Rick P.

Yelp
We know going in that you don't get a lot of meat when you order Jhap Chae around for around $15, so we ordered "extra" meat for an extra $4.99. When we opened the box we discover 5 small pieces of meat. She complained as soon as she saw this. By the time I got in the phone she had eaten 4 of the pieces. A "manager" called me back and tried to explain that the chef did indeed add extra meat. Ok. I'm not going to argue facts. Why would I call for a refund of $4.99? He did ask me to drive back there and....wait, WHAT? Maybe you should have offered to deliver it to my house or just give me my credit! Shame on you! I DON'T recommend this restaurant! Customer lost forever. Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, right next door and what you see is what you get

Candace W.

Yelp
Went here twice in the last week because it is so good. Really liked the soy garlic wings and the flavor is on point. I also love the garlic Parmesan fries. This location makes it crispy without being overly oily. The chicken does get messy so be prepared to have tons of napkins. Food always comes out hot and tasty and service is fantastic.

Raymond Z.

Yelp
Shrink-flation hitting really hard!!! Chicken keeps getting smaller and smaller. Specified a time for pickup, but order was completed way ahead of time. By the time of pickup, it was soggy.

Justin Q.

Yelp
This location is better than the Newark location. At least if I order 30 pieces wings here they really put 30. Other locations don't. Soy Garlic is the best wings flavor they have and I forgot the other flavor but it tasted ok. Jap Chae & Fish Tacos was ok. Customer Service was ok.

Julia P.

Yelp
It was good to me! The wings be spicy! They have similar flavors but high heat... So hot I can't eat it but still great flavor. I did pick up and they broght it out to me. I also really like the fries! Decent Service. Busy location didn't spend much time inside, when I did go in. Wish they had more dipping sauces. Other than that a cool little spot.

Jasmine R.

Yelp
My God Dad told me to meet him at "Bonchon" yesterday for lunch. I had never heard of this place but agreed to come anyways. First impression? Hmmmm.. this place is clean and cute. He ordered the soy garlic wings and fries. His wings looked amazing, however I only tried his fries and.. WHAT IN THE ENTIRE POTATO ?? Lol they were freakin DELICIOUS!. Super crispy on the outside. I decided to order the shrimp shumai, and fried zucchini fries. Next time I'll ask for no parmesan on the zucchini fries (I guess this is what seasoned meant) but they were still good. I wish the shrimp shumai was bigger but they were still good as well. Overall the food was tasty and worth every penny. 5 star rating for high food quality and amazing service.

Kelly M.

Yelp
This review is in regard to the 1 star review that Hailey M wrote. Me and my friend were dining as Hailey M walked in and right off the bad was speaking to the workers extremely rude. As the manager came in to try to explain to her how online orders work she refused to listen to him and instead spoke over him and berated him. The issue could've been easily been resolved if she had taken the time to listen to the manager instead of making rude remarks and threatening to call the police. Later on the manager approached us to apologize for the scene that was caused by Hailey. Overall this was my first time trying Bonchon and I really enjoyed my food and the staff were very attentive.

A K.

Yelp
I ordered boneless wings here, but I received chicken breasts instead. I told the staff that I ordered boneless wings, but they insisted that these were boneless wings. I explained that these are chicken breasts and that I don't like them. The staff then said they would give me regular wings instead. While I appreciate the switch to wings, they really need to change the name because selling chicken breasts as boneless wings is confusing.

Artesia D.

Yelp
I remember when they first opened I was so excited to experience the food. The rice was excellent with bogogi meat. I was empress with the portion size. I did not have to dig for pieces of meat. I love the chicken wings brushed with their signature sauce, very pleasantly appetizing, but let me compliment the Japchae, the dish is delightful, the vermicelli noodles great mixed with bogogi meat. My only complaint now is as prices have gone up but the portions have decreased. Getting less for more. The pork bun sliders are a delicacy, mouth watering and prepare with so much finger licking goodness. Now I have to compliment their Korean tacos and potsticker, they are prepare in what I would consider traditionally with a personal signature touch. I can't brag enough on the taste, so yummy. The restaurant is decorated so tastefully, not to ostentatious, done well with a bar for extra seating. Great as an after work spot to relax, have a drink and great meal. I can say the staff are polite and efficient, they get it right. I have never had to send a dish back. Finger snaps to the restaurant just hate inflation caused the portions to shrink a bit but still a favorite place to dine!

Cyn T.

Yelp
I use to love this spot. I haven't gotten food here for about half a yr or so. The portion sizes got smaller drastically. I ordered a bundle supposedly enough for 4-6 people. I got ONE cup of radish which use to come for free (up to 2 cups depending your order size) but is now considered a side. The fried rice use to come in those big flat plastic container box (like panda express) for takeouts and is now replaced by a small brown box. I ordered soy and k bbq flavor and honestly cannot tell the difference. They're not as crunchy and fresh as they use to taste. Order comes with 6 big drumsticks (the size that all pieces use to be pre covid), 12 mix of wings and drummettes, and 2 sides for $39.99. I've eaten half the radish cup before photo, but wanted to show size for reference on this "side" dish.

Marisa S.

Yelp
I ordered through Uber Eats and received the worst chicken I've ever had. It was incredibly dry, over-cooked and had very little sauce on it. I've dined at other Bonchon locations and never had this issue. What happened? Is it because I ordered it for delivery? Is it just this location? Or has Bonchon declined in quality over time? It used to be so good. Truly disappointed and won't eat here again. They should be ashamed to send an order out like that!

Grace H.

Yelp
Delicious! I'm a huge fan of the spicy chicken strips and this spot always has the best ones. I'm not a huge fan of Korean chicken, but Bonchon and this location in specific is deff my favorite. We came in Friday at 6PM and it was quite empty, which I was happy about! Our food came out quickly and service was phenomenal. We also got their new seasoned fries and the bulgogi fried rice, which is always a hit. This location gives bigger portions and always has amazing service. Whenever I'm craving Bonchon, I will go to this location! I highly recommend!

Danny X.

Yelp
Had placed an order for togo. Asked for a cup of water. They said no. Buy a water bottle instead. But if you dined in. Water is provided. Not worth my time and idle idiotcy. Thanks for reminding me not to come back.

Matt O.

Yelp
The taste of wings and chicken strips are decent. However, they over-fry the drumsticks and those are extremely dry. Never ordering those again. The caesar salad which is not on the menu, but available is very good and cuts the fat from all the fried foods. Tried the bulgogi tacos for the first time and those were tasty. I would order again. The younger staff tend to be polite and very helpful.

Kaye T.

Yelp
I personally love this place more than other Korean fried chicken places with the LARGE pieces of chicken LOL. I think the fact that the wings here are similar to Wingstop, where they are small pieces, the chicken tends to hold the flavor a bit more and doesn't dry out. Not only does this place sell chicken, they sell great main dishes on the menu! Loved their japchae and tteokbokki-- I thought it goes so well with their chicken. Their soy garlic is AMAZING but also love the fact that their spicy chicken is actually spicy-- but delicious. So if you aren't a fan of foods that aren't super spicy, this might not be the place for you. I would really love to get more of the pickled radish as it breaks down the oiliness of it all, but still Korean fried chicken will always remain as one of my forever faves.

Bam T.

Yelp
Greatest Spicy wings I have ever tasted. For a Korean spot the staff is very respectful and nice.

Eric S.

Yelp
Omg, this spot is seriously one of the best Korean fried chicken i have ever taste in my life. We always order to go, even though it is quite pricey, the chicken is cooked at its best. The seasoning of the chicken is perfect. The service is on the spot. The food is packed nicely and ready for pick up. The place, otherwise, is small for a big family. It may feel like it is very compact. But the food here is 5/5. Highly recommend this place.

Ben H.

Yelp
Food delivery review: Wings and fries were still hot and crispy and everything else kept pretty well too. The flavors themselves arent anything too special but it's still some solid lunch grub.

Sarai D.

Yelp
Staff were courteous, nice, and professional. Ordered chicken sliders and udon noodles. Restaurant was clean. Would go there again.

Mario H.

Yelp
I came in after work and ordered popcorn shrimp and chicken with seasoned fries and I'm telling you I spent 40 bucks and it wasn't good at all, the shrimp was more battery then the actual shrimp. They gave me all drums and it didn't have the same taste as the one I go to in Petaluma.. I'm very disappointed because all the money I spent and it didn't come out good at all. I will not be back and I hope they learn how to cook and serve correctly because people spend money to keep the establishment running

Ian A.

Yelp
First time trying this place and you won't be disappointed. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Nice setting music was perfect volume and nice and clean
