Had an okay experience here. My friend recommended it after our first choice was a bust. We were seated at the end of the U-shaped bar, which was nice, because no one was on the other side of us.
My friend suggested the lunch special. I think they must've recently raised their prices, because the online prices are lower than what was on the in-store menu. I chose the "smallest" option at $26, which included appetizer, 2 nigiri, and one hand roll. She chose the middle option at $33, which included appetizer, 4 nigiri, and 2 hand rolls. In retrospect, I should've chosen that option, as I left a bit hungry!
I wanted to order a cocktail and saw the menu was mostly sake and soju so settled for a soju cocktail. After multiple interactions with the waitress, who said the full cocktail list wasn't available, she finally returned (after she tended to multiple large groups who just arrived) and said actually they *all* were available. :| I ordered my original choice, the Bumblebee, which ended up being so light and sweet, it almost felt non-alcoholic.
My friend was served the yellowtail jalapeno appetizer next, which was good. Then we were both given hand-held rolls, with the chef saying something like "sorry for the delay". We were confused because we hadn't yet gotten any other dishes yet. I thought maybe it was complimentary because of the delay with drinks. We later found out that this was actually the lobster hand roll! I wish I had taken more time to enjoy it, but devoured it thinking more food was coming. We finally got the nigiri - I inhaled my two pieces of Seared o Toro. As I never got my appetizer, my friend asked for it - the spicy edamame. It was a little soggy but flavorful.
The overall experience was fine - the service was decent considering how many people were dining at the time - but it felt like we paid a lot for a few pieces of high-quality sushi. Overall I might stick to my more "hole-in-the-wall" sushi spots when I need my sushi fix!
