Google
Good sushi restaurant serving traditional Sashimi cuts and spins off traditional sushi rolls. They have a nice take out section of the restaurant serving up sushi “bento” boxes with lots of varieties. Reasonable prices for amount of food you get. Quick service.

Google
This sushi restaurant offers an exceptional omakase experience, showcasing the chef’s artistry and freshest ingredients. Each course is beautifully presented, with flavors that are perfectly balanced. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, making the dining experience seamless. The cozy ambiance enhances the meal, and the attention to detail in every dish leaves a lasting impression. A must-visit for sushi lovers!

Google
We had a wonderful experience trying this restaurant for the first time. The sushi was incredible, and everything we tasted was amazing! But the part of our experience was our server Scarlett. She was so kind and attentive, and truly she was what made the experience for us. 1000/10 would recommend!!! Scarlett thank you for making our night :)

Google
Had a wonderful experience at Bondi Sushi's Upper West Side location. The restaurant is small and intimate, making it perfect for a date night spot. While there is only bar seating, the decor inside is beautiful, the service was fantastic, and most importantly, the sushi was fresh, inventive, and outstanding. What a great new sushi option on the Upper West Side. I highly recommend it here and will definitely be back.

Google
Had a really nice quick dinner here after going to the movies. The waiter and sushi man were both extremely polite. The rolls were great, fresh and filling. Great prices for sushi! Definitely try the wagyu roll and the spicy crab one. Would come back to try the lunch menu.

Google
Dropped in as a party of one during happy hour and had the following $5 hand rolls: Crab, lobster, eggplant, and yellowtail My favorite was the crab (warm, cooked) - just chock full of delicious crab meat. Not particularly spicy as described but very tasty. Lobster (cold, cooked) was similar to a lobster roll filling but in a better format with less bread (rice) keeping you from the true lobster texture and taste. Eggplant miso had sliced cucumber - great blend of crisp moist cucumber and the eggplant which they toast warm for you. Yellowtail and scallion had juicy, good-sized morsels or yellowtail. Classic combination. Solid and not a bad deal at all at happy hour. Note this space is small and bar only as far as I can tell. May be difficult for large parties.

Google
Wish I took more photos but pretty much ate each roll as soon as it came out! Good hand rolls with high quality ingredients! Service was excellent and so thoughtful for Valentine’s Day. Sake was a perfect match for the fresh fish. I also liked the small footprint of the restaurant, just one bar where you can sit and watch the food being made and shared with guests. We will be back!

Google
I placed a large order for pickup today, arrived 5 minutes in advance, but it was not ready at the estimated time. I had a taxi waiting for me on the meter while I waited, and I explained that I needed to get going. No one seemed to be in a rush. Worse, a young lady involved in preparing the food in the takeout area was complaining loudly and rudely in Spanish about the situation and was very unpleasant. Not at all the experience I thought I'd be getting, especially at this price point. The food is excellent, but they need to work on their bedside manner in the delivery area. Very disappointing and unprofessional.

Yelp
Bondi Sushi is perfect for takeout! They make the extra effort to organize everything neatly...great for a picnic, hike, day in the park! The rolls, nigiri and chu toro were all tasty! Don't expect Masa-like cuisine and they make no unsubstantiated claims on its website: "Bondi Sushi was born with the simple notion that life is better at the beach. Our simple menu of fresh fish allows you to take a moment and enjoy everyday leisure: whether you are dining with us at the Sushi Bar or at home. We take the gifts from the sea and transform them into craveable dishes that uncomplicate life. Sit with us at the sushi bar for our elegant nigiri, hot and crispy hand rolls, unadulterated sashimi or craveable crispy rice. We invite you to sit back and relax while our chefs provide the escape. Bright, fresh and fun! We are the home of sunshine, salt and the sea."

Yelp
The food is really fresh and good here. Lunch specials are the way to go, I don't know that I would ever come just come for a la carte due to the prices. Lunch deal is great, you have a selection of $30, $34, $40 options, which you order x number of items from their normal menu. I got the $40 you get 1 appetizer or sashimi and 6 nigiri pieces (3 types) and 2 handrolls. Any of the items from their menu. Each nigiri order ranges $6-14, and handrolls are $8-14, so it really is a good deal if you'll eat it all.

Yelp
5 stars for freshness and service. This location is small and charming. It's a small sushi bar with high-top seating. They don't have a big menu, but everything was delicious. We went with set menus. You can choose your own items or let the chef choose for you. Some "special" rolls have to be ordered separately. Definitely order the veggie special roll.

Yelp
I thought the portions were too small for the price. It has a nice atmosphere and the guy with the torch was fun to watch. The service was also good. But overall, the food wasn't filling or satisfying for me.

Jason L.

Yelp
It was okay. The fish was fresh and pretty good. I got the Yellowtail Jalapeño and it was good as it was just fish/sashimi. As for the rolls and nigiri, I really did not enjoy the rice at all, and it completely ruined the taste.

Bradley W.

Yelp
I've been spending most of my time outside the city but I was at my place across the street from Bondi Sushi UWS and thought I'd give it a try. Since Sushi Yasaka opened I only go there when I eat sushi out in the neighborhood. I got an order to pick up. I ordered the bliss box with a spicy tuna, spicy crab roll plus unagi. The food was ready quickly. There to go packages make it easy to eat. The food was nice and fresh.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour. In terms of ambience, it's a small intimate space. We ordered a bunch of hand rolls, lobster, spicy crab, yellowtail, salmon avocado, spicy tuna and crispy rice. I ordered the honey bee drink and another drink with cucumber. The drinks were tasty but super light I felt like I was drinking mocktails with soo much ice. I can typically eat 2 rolls and feel full, these were barely filled after eating 3 rolls i felt I just ate a snack. Service was fine, she took our orders but food came out before our drinks and we did have to get her to order more. I wouldn't return based on quantity for the price, if I paid full price for those items and was starving and needed more cocktails, I would be pissed. We ended our time there and moved to another restaurant for cocktails and ate when we came home.
google avatar

Yelp
Fish was fine, sushi rice was bleh, everything screamed trying to be cute and cool, but all I want is deliciousness and a much better price. Yasaka, Gari, Sushi W are all way better.
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't even bother to look at the bad reviews, today is my third time here and I absolutely love it. It's the best crispy rice I've had in a long time. The service is great, ambience is great. It's tiny, but warm and inviting. What's not to love? They have a great happy hour.

Yelp
This was my first experience at Bondi Sushi. They have separate entrances for dining in and take-out. I'd ordered a Build Your Own Bowl ($25+) online and my order was ready for pick-up on their shelf. For the bowl, I'd chosen: - Base: Half White Rice / Half Greens - Protein: Ponzu Marinated Salmon - Veggies: Sliced Avocado, Edamame, Pickled Cucumbers - Toppings: Masago Roe, Pickled Ginger It was a generous portion, although I guess for $25+, you would expect no less. It was like a poke bowl and I loved all of the toppings, although the salmon was not marinated and I wish there was more avocado. Also, it may be difficult to tell in the photo, but they put in a ton of pickled cucumbers. While they are flavorful and delicious, they are high in sodium and no one should be eating that much. The bowl overall was great and non-marinated salmon would actually be a good option to have. I was just expecting ponzu-marinated salmon, which is what I'd ordered, which is why it was disappointing. I would've taken it back but just didn't have the time.

Yelp
Dine-in is much better than the take out. The sushi is made to order and paced out so you can enjoy each bite. Counter seating only. Not meant for large groups. Service was at par. Nothing too over the top or sloppy. I would recommend eating there to get better quality sushi.

Yelp
Love this place. The food is much higher quality than you would expect for the price. Great happy hour deals as well. The servers are always very attentive and accommodating.
google avatar

Linda E.

Yelp
Is this place pricey? Yes. Isn't all sushi? Yes. Did I order with uber eats coupon? Yes. I really liked this sushi, though the order was small, it was still quite filling. You shouldn't really stuff yourself with sushi but the more you can eat at $27 price level, the quality probably suffers. I really loved the salmon & tuna rolls. They tasted fresh & the texture was very soft. My least favorite roll was salmon & jalapeños. The jalapeños tasted pickled & had a sour after taste. Overall I would not mind stopping by & dining in to taste other options.

Yelp
I usually get take out from here. Good sushi, reliable quality. Just overpriced for what you get in my opinion.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood! Small spot with only bar seating which makes a great place to stop in on the way home from work or to meet a friend for dinner. The ambiance has a great low key and classy vibe that makes you not want to leave. I ordered the sake and crispy rice with spicy tuna and the yellowtail. Both were absolutely incredible. The fish was very fresh and prepared with sauces that fit perfectly. The waitress was very attentive and professional. Extra added bonus: towards the end of the meal the waitress said she was pouring champagne in the back and asked if we wanted some. Pretty hard to say no to :-) All in all, this likely will be my new neighborhood go-to spot for sushi. Simple yet delicious menu that makes me want to come back for her and over until I try the whole thing!

Yelp
Bondi Sushi - UWS, NYC Stepped into Bondi Sushi on the Upper West Side for lunch. I had never tried Bondi Sushi in person, but when I get a sushi craving it's my go-to food delivery order. I ordered their lunch special. What I ordered: - Seared Tuna Tataki - Seared A5 Wagyu Nigiri - Seared O Toro with Truffle Salt Nigiri - Yellowtail Scallion Handroll - Salmon Ikura Handroll The Seared Tuna Tataki was delicious. The outer sear was well-seasoned and spicy, and the interior velvety and tender. The garnish provided freshness to each bite and great texture from the roe. The Seared A5 Wagyu Nigiri was a treat. The marbling on the beef and the light sear enhanced the natural richness of the meat. It melted in the mouth and left a lingering, savory taste. The Seared O Toro with Truffle Salt Nigiri was also pleasant. The truffle salt did not have a strong truffle flavor, but the salt elevated the already decadent O Toro. Moving on to the handrolls, the Yellowtail Scallion was a fresh, crisp contrast to the richness of the previous dishes. The Salmon Ikura Handroll was a burst of oceanic flavor. The ikura provided a popping texture, complementing the salmon well. It was a delightful crescendo to an already exceptional meal. Bondi Sushi offers a lunch special that is reasonably priced at $32, considering the quality of the sushi and the artful execution of each dish. The attentive service and inviting ambiance added to the overall experience. Rating: 9/10 Price: $$ @delish.destinations on IG for more reviews

Yelp
Had an okay experience here. My friend recommended it after our first choice was a bust. We were seated at the end of the U-shaped bar, which was nice, because no one was on the other side of us. My friend suggested the lunch special. I think they must've recently raised their prices, because the online prices are lower than what was on the in-store menu. I chose the "smallest" option at $26, which included appetizer, 2 nigiri, and one hand roll. She chose the middle option at $33, which included appetizer, 4 nigiri, and 2 hand rolls. In retrospect, I should've chosen that option, as I left a bit hungry! I wanted to order a cocktail and saw the menu was mostly sake and soju so settled for a soju cocktail. After multiple interactions with the waitress, who said the full cocktail list wasn't available, she finally returned (after she tended to multiple large groups who just arrived) and said actually they *all* were available. :| I ordered my original choice, the Bumblebee, which ended up being so light and sweet, it almost felt non-alcoholic. My friend was served the yellowtail jalapeno appetizer next, which was good. Then we were both given hand-held rolls, with the chef saying something like "sorry for the delay". We were confused because we hadn't yet gotten any other dishes yet. I thought maybe it was complimentary because of the delay with drinks. We later found out that this was actually the lobster hand roll! I wish I had taken more time to enjoy it, but devoured it thinking more food was coming. We finally got the nigiri - I inhaled my two pieces of Seared o Toro. As I never got my appetizer, my friend asked for it - the spicy edamame. It was a little soggy but flavorful. The overall experience was fine - the service was decent considering how many people were dining at the time - but it felt like we paid a lot for a few pieces of high-quality sushi. Overall I might stick to my more "hole-in-the-wall" sushi spots when I need my sushi fix!

Yelp
Takeout review: easy, quick, delicious. Pricing is about expected for NYC. Decent value Lunch set: for the smaller one, which was well portioned for a light meal and generous on the fish side of the fish to rice ratio. Would probably need to go two sizes up or get additional hand rolls if I wasn't going for a light lunch. Bar seating only
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
I love this place. It is a quaint spot with bar seating only. Perfect to come to by yourself and enjoy some delicious sushi. The food is always fresh and made right in front of you. The servers are also super friendly and will guide you through the menu! Can't wait to come back. Also great happy hour deal!

Yelp
Great bites with a great lunch menu. Scallop was remarkably good, as was the salmon toast. My son loved the wagyu.
google avatar

Kelsey A.

Yelp
Really delicious. I sat at the bar and, although the waitstaff was slow, the sushi chef was amazing! He kept checking in on me. The sushi was really fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the king salmon and scallop nigiri, as well as the salmon and ikura and toro and scallion hand roll. I also like the chu toro nigiri. The botan ebi nigiri was the only one I didn't care for. Overall, a great spot for a quick meal.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Causal, fast spot for better than average sushi and wont empty your wallet. I liked the crispy rice and torched pieces. Service is quick. Ambiance is simple, but tight space. Counter seating only, but I like that so you can watch the sushi chefs in action. Nothing fancy or pretentious, just a casual, but satisfying spot!

Larissa R.

Yelp
We ordered off Uber eats over an hour ago. It was stuck on wrapping up for an hour and our driver changed multiple times due to the wait. I called over 5 times and they didn't answer once even though they are open. I don't mind the delay but I do mind not being able to get through for a single phone call!

Felice S.

Yelp
I am a sushi lover, and have been to various sushi restaurants over the years, and Bondi is by far my favorite. The fish is always fresh, and delicious enough to be a sensual experience with every bite. The service is good, and the atmosphere warm. It is easy to observe the chefs at work, and they are talented artists. The menu is not extensive, but carefully curated and creative. The happy hour prices are good, especially in our current economic climate. Be careful, because if you visit Bondi, you may develop an addiction to it, as I have.

Yelp
Got bait and switched by their Director, Caitlin, who offered me a $30 credit for being part of their "First Look List" on their opening day. (I scanned the QR code on the window, because I walk by it every day). When I went to pay the bill, there was no credit in my account and the manager was totally unapologetic, even though I had shown him my email. Though customer service eventually resolved the issue via email, that interaction helped me decide that I don't need to eat here again. During my entire meal I was thinking about how over-priced the food was for the portion size. If you're looking to spend $150 and leave hungry this may be the place for you. As far as the food goes, I ordered the 12 piece omakase for $70 and my partner ordered the 5 hand rolls for $40. The cuts of fish were smaller than average and the flavor was hit or miss. The pieces I liked the most were the scallop with lime and toro. In my opinion, Bondi subscribes to many of the faults that plague NYC restaurants -- it doesn't deliver the value to match the price tag. There are so many other omakase places that will knock your socks off, but this isn't one of them.

Tulsi S.

Yelp
Food I've been here a few times before and tried the hand rolls, sushi and sashimi. The cuts on the fish are good and overall, it's been decent. However, this recent time, the hand rolls had a much higher ratio of rice to actual fish/filling. The sashimi was drowned in sauce. Felt less authentic. Hoping next time will be better. It's definitely worth a try for a casual sushi spot during their happy hour specials before you go for full menu. Ambiance Decent for a casual sit-at sushi bar kind of restaurant. Feels cramped if it's packed. L-shaped counter has some great seats and some tight spots. Service Service is usually pretty decent and speedy. Great to see sushi being made in front of you. You have the flexibility of letting the sushi chef or the waitress know when you're ready to order.
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
I love the food and the price! Wagu and Toro is must! All fish tastes very fresh, sake is pretty good too!

viviana v.

Yelp
I find this place quite misleading, nowhere on the menu and during the service informed us that the sushi they have its not the classic uramaki but more like a miniature version of the futo-maki. I would be okay with just futo-maki If stated clearly and if they were a normal size. We were disappointed with the price and the quantity of food
google avatar

Yelp
Bondi Sushi launched in 2017 and this is their fifth location in Manhattan under their mini empire. Bondi offers nigiri and hand roll specials and a la carte options; crispy rice; appetizers including edamame and sashimi; and a variety of mochi for dessert. Their combo boxes always you to taste a variety of seafood or customized based on your liking. They often come out with seasonal specials, quite obviously since certain seafood is freshest at certain months. It's not a top tier sushi restaurant, but everything is still fresh and freshly assembled.

Jarrod E.

Yelp
Love it! Omakase-like experience with excellent cuts for some of the lowest prices in the area. Consistently excellent service and you can watch them prepare your sushi in front of you, which is a pleasantly meditative experience.

Jean N.

Yelp
Decent service but to charge $18 for a tiny carafe of rice wine ... and 40 dollars for "finger" rolls touted as "hand rolls" is as gross as semi bad sushi ... which was there as well.

Ellen A.

Yelp
I'm surprised by how fresh this sushi was! Fish to rice ratio is perfect. Very good quality for the price

Jared L.

Yelp
Amazing lunch!! We've been watching with anticipation as this place was being built out. SO glad to have this excellent sushi place in our neighborhood. Went with a friend and had an excellent 2 hour lunch. Engaging chefs, lovely staff... just had the best time! And a great value to boot!

Lisa S.

Yelp
Ordered from Uber Eats. The sushi was very good, fresh and sustainably packaged with some, but not much plastic. Delivery took longer than promised, but not a big deal. What was a big deal was the price. I ordered two items that said in writing were "buy one, get one." The promotion wasn't honored (not sure whose fault, Uber or Bondi). My order came to $32 then I was charged $4.99 for delivery. When I tipped, I was offered a percentage, chose 18%. They calculated the tip on the total including the delivery charge so my $32 order rose to $49. I didn't notice the total or that "buy one, get one" wasn't honored until after I hit the buy button. Total very sneaky rip-off. Might pick up food. Definitely won't order delivery ever again.

Avid Y.

Yelp
This was was my first experience at a Bondi. I've seen these restaurants and was game to finally give it a try when this one opened down the street. I placed an order on their website and immediately received a confirmation email with a pick-up time approximately 15 minutes after I placed the order. That was a good start. I arrived about 5 minutes ahead of that given pick-up time. This was a mistake. They were busy. There were people who were waiting on orders placed online and through 3rd party vendors. Also people waiting to order. I did not receive my order until 26 minutes AFTER the pick-up time given. In this time, I literally watched someone place a larger order than I had, 30 minutes after my own order was placed, and I watched him receive his order 10 minutes before I did. The food quality was acceptable; but not worth the wait. Had I gotten my food at the time given, or even within a more acceptable window, I'd consider coming back; but the wait was so frustrating that I won't be returning.

Jake L.

Yelp
Food is awesome and service is really amazing. Jada rocks! Good vibes! Highly recommend

Dorothy Y.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant on 11/4 for lunch, 4 days after it opened but couldn't find anywhere to immediately review it; so am doing it now. This place is basically an uncomfortable, crowded lunch counter of 11 seats with a sushi chef behind it. Maybe they were just getting their act together, but the service was a little slow. I tried to order hot sake, but they only served $25 bottles of cold sake; so I ordered a glass of white wine, which was not very good. They offer 3 price points for lunch. I decided to try the middle one which was around $26, and included an appetizer, 2 sushi piece options and 2 rolls. The sushi chef, apparently to impress, was flaming almost everything, which probably was more for show than necessity. The appetizer, miso soup, was a large bowl of mostly water with not much else in it - not tasty at all. Although the sushi pieces and rolls were tasty, they were extremely small; so overall it wasn't much of a bargain. Next door to the sit in, they have a take out area, which I haven't tried and don't intend to. After I had looked forward to their opening for months, I didn't find this place worth a return visit - better options available.

Yelp
Ridiculous wait for pick up, 1 hour. Pick up window is a total chaos. Not worth it at all.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. I jus walked in and could not be more happy. They have a "happy hour" and lunch special that are jus fantastic. Christina (Tenzin and Lee/the chefs) are the nicest and kindest and most professional. They really care about their jobs and their craft. We are soooo fortunate to have this place in our neighborhood. We truly are. Christina, Tenzin and Lee are great at what they do and are nice reflections of Bondi and their brand.
google avatar

Madison B.

Yelp
The service is really good and all of the staff is beyond friendly. The happy hour menu is also wonderful- five dollar hand rolls (although they're very small). The bar is nice to sit at and the place is clean. Would recommend as a quick lunch spot!

Yelp
Terrible service. Mediocre sushi. I went there for lunch with a coworker. It was my first time there, and it is as my suggestion to go. Once we get there, we get the menus and try to go through the options. However, within 30 seconds the white woman who gave us the menu rudely interrupted us to ask us for our order. We told her we needed a minute. Literally a minute later she interrupted us even more rudely, and I barely read through have the menu. I was really embarrassed by the terrible service, so I quickly told my coworker that we should just get the $75 omakase to get this awful server out of our way. The dining experience was very mediocre. I think they chefs asked if we had any dietary restrictions or allergies, and they also quietly told us what each piece was. They are supposed to precisely soy sauce each piece, but they didn't. We had to do our own soy sauce. The fish was fresh, but nothing too interesting. It's no different from a $30 "sushi deluxe" entree from literally any sushi restaurant. The payment process was weird. They don't give you a check in a folio to drop your card. Instead, that same terrible server who rushed us for our order just threw this machine in front of us with no explanation. The command prompts weren't obvious, and she got annoyed because we couldn't figure it out, so she came up to us and told us what to press. This place should immediately fire that woman. She was an absolute disgrace to the point that this restaurant does not deserve the dignity and respect of holding the title of "sushi bar". If you want good sushi, just go 2 blocks away to Sushi Kaito. It's more expensive, and you'll need to place a reservation, but it's worth it. Bondi Sushi is so bad that they should pay you to dine there.

Yelp
Today we tried bondi sushi hoping to get the advertised promotional Lobster Rolls. When we got there they weren't available for takeout. We were disappointed when any business does bait and switch. We still took home various sushi and liked what we had.

Chris J.

Yelp
Fantastic! Very fine sushi with great staff. Happy hour is great (2-6pm) as well. The decor is very well-designed. Relaxed, feel good environment right around the corner.

Gin T.

Yelp
Ok, I'm Japanese. Sushi is in my blood and the blood of my ancestors. Everything tasted strange. Oh the horror! I know they're kinda trying to make something like sushi but this is not even close. My ancestors are rolling in their graves. I'm rolling on the floor..... luckily since everything was inedible I didn't get sick. They do have counter seating next door but I haven't tried that yet but I was watching the "sushi master" trimming salmon and he definitely did not train in Japan.

Robin G.

Yelp
I tried their takeout on special, which was very good, beautifully presented. Then went to the sushi bar for Happy Hour. Not much of a deal on the drinks or sake for happy hour. Several sushi rolls were well priced. The individual nigiri sushi pieces were delicious. Still, you need deep pockets to eat here. For happy hour we spent over $100 and were still hungry! Would not run back there.

mom k.

Yelp
Very good fish. Sort of strange business model. Take out/ delivery are next door to each other, have different menus, and won't let you mix. For example at the take out there are rolls and bowls but no sushi/ sashimi. Strange. Bowl with mixed fish was very good- will be back. Will try the sushi bar side.

Tracey P.

Yelp
Thank you Christina. I come here all the time and this establishment is lucky to have you. She is wonderful, friendly and always gives the best recommendations. I love this new friendly neighborhood sushi bar. Specials are amazing and love the hand rolls! Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I received a $10 off on takeout, so I decided to try this new sushi place. I was disappointed that I could not get a lunch special to go here. They only offer it to eat in. So I ordered the lobster and shrimp bowl to go ( a bit pricy $26 ), but the $10 off made it a value. I had part white rice and part greens, a lobster paste, and some lobster pieces that were quite flavorful. It also it included some poached shrimp, pickled seaweed, and mango slices. It was very good. clean and crisp in flavor, with an accent of ponzu sauce on the side. The staff in both the sushi counter and take out store were all very nice and pleasant to deal with. The takeout is separate from the sushi counter next door. It accommodates about 15 diners in total. I would recommend this restaurant based on my first experience (take out). I will also come in here to eat one day and write a review on that. But so far, so good. It's nice to see a new business on the upper west side that has good food and service.

Yeshi T.

Yelp
I went with my sister. I love the ambiance. It was bit on a pricy side but the quality of food was incomparable to alternatives (cheaper options). We ordered few stuff and they were all excellent. I am saying excellent because they tasted fresh. It was a busy dinner rush but we weren't rushed to check out. So I must say service good as well.
