Bondi Sushi

This is hands down one of the best sushi experiences I've had in New York. The service was impeccable and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended their favorites which are now mine! Getting to watch the chef handcraft the rolls and crispy rice was epic. Not only did I enjoy the food, it was also my birthday and they made sure I felt special with a delicious desert and sake! Will definitely be coming back soon!

Ok I’ll have dreams of this guy cutting these fish it’s SO GOOD. The quality of the fish and meat is SO GOOD. 10/10. And Sandra is so nice! Also the owner or main chef is super nice and knows a tiny bit of Spanish :))

Amazing Happy Hour! Food is amazing and so fresh and reasonably priced in the Happy hour deal! So glad we stumbled upon it on our walk around. Also great Sake!

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this sushi place. The service was terrible from the start — I waited way too long for a server to even acknowledge me. Meanwhile, the cook behind the bar was more interested in chatting with another cook about personal stuff, laughing, and smiling without any regard for the customers. What really shocked me was seeing the cook talking on the phone while working, which is not only unprofessional but also unhygienic. I can't help but think about the bacteria being introduced into the food! To top it off, the prices are way too high for this kind of subpar service and carelessness. I do not recommend this place at all.

The staff here is so wonderful. I’m a member of their rewards program and got $5 for my birthday. The staff is so on top of things, and wonderful about offering recommendations! I love their truffle avocado roll & the spicy crab. Also their white rice is amazing! It has a little touch of vinegar which makes it taste so yummy. Thank you to Stella who was the staff member who helped me today. She was so nice and it was such a lovely experience! The packaging is super cute too!

Very good atmosphere and the front desks were very nice. However, I ate a crab shell out of my sushi and also the sushi rice is on a more mushy side like someone else had also mentioned. It could have been made into mochi or rice cake if you play with it more.

Amazing dinning experience. There food was great, service was great, and overall ambiance was perfect. Definitely recommend stopping by for dinner for an omakase that won't break the bank.

This is my absolute favorite sushi spot on the UES. The wagyu and lobster rolls are 💯 and the staff is so friendly I thought they were trained by Danny Meyer. Literally eat here 4–5x/week and wish I could afford to eat here every night!!

Curt and the staff were very welcoming. service is so fast. The ambiance is bright and clean (wrap around counter but also a standalone table for two in the window). I thought all of the rolls I tasted were delicious and so affordable (I went during happy hour) and I also got the Seafoam drink and it was delicious. Highly recommend.

Average service, fresh seafood. Though I swear there were more teenagers here than adults when I went. Interesting crowd

I happen to be right by BONDI, on Wednesday, Oct 18, 2023, and needed to eat before going to a meeting nearby, so I thought okay, this is meant to be, because I had passed by BONDI a few times; I was curious about it, and it looked a tad mysterious with very nice low light inside. I checked out a few reviews on YELP, And so, I went in, and...I FELT LIKE I WON A PRIZE!!! BECAUSE...it was Happy Hour, and that meant $5 HANDROLLS!!! I'm not really a drinker, so the food was my focus. LOL I enjoyed the handrolls, see my photos please, and I even ordered a yummy dessert -the Crème Brûlée, which was delicious and delightful. I had sat at the sushi bar, which is square in shape, and there are several tables along a few of the sides. I was waiting to write my review because I wanted to return to BONDI, and have an item from the regular menu. But, alas, it is now early December and I do plan to return to BONDI, during Happy Hour, for more yummy handrolls, AND I also want to try the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, because I love that dish, and the person sitting near me at the sushi bar was enjoying that dish. As a matter of fact, it was her "usual". So, I must try that dish. I will update once I return to BONDI. But, I did not want to hold off on writing this review any longer and so, here it is...and there will be more to come soon. :) I can tell you, THE SERVICE WAS VERY NICE, with a welcoming and professional demeanor. The manager -I believe his name is Karl-I can't find the BONDI card this minute, and that's where I wrote his name, was very nice, and he made sure every patron was being served and enjoying their meal. He clearly was giving 110% to his managerial responsibilities. Kudos to him!! Stay tuned, I shall visit BONDI again, within the next few weeks. But, yes, I would recommend BONDI. And, I enjoyed the calm feeling of the subdued lighting. Because let's face it, as high stress New Yorkers, who doesn't need some of that?! LOL

The happy hour is a really good deal, they have delicious crispy rice and hand rolls and sake and cocktails. And it's not crowded at all on the weekdays during that time.

Writing this review based on delivery only: I ordered a build your own box and chose Spicy tuna, spicy blue crab, shrimp avocado, and yellowtail scallion as my 4 rolls. The delivery was fast; it was prepared within a half an hour, and at my door less than 15 minutes later. The order was accurate but the food was underwhelming. People rave about Bondi sushi and although I've had it once before and wasn't impressed I thought I would give it a second try. I'm a diehard Sugarfish fan, I love their warm rice and the freshness of their fish, and I just don't think Bondi can compete. The rolls are decent, everything tasted fine, but it just isn't ... mouthwatering. If you want a few different rolls for a decent price ($27.50 on Uber eats for the BYOBox, most likely cheaper in person) made quickly and packaged nicely in a box with soy, ginger & wasabi, then this is your spot! For me, it just isn't it.

Been to Bondi in Brooklyn and it was a much better experience there! Ordered the crab rice bowl, lobster sticky rice roll and some side sauces. All were a disappointment! The crab was like a dip and it wasn't very flavorful. The sides that came with it were mostly bland and didn't go well with the crab. The lobster crispy rice was terrible. The rules were all falling over and a mess. The crispy rice was not crispy and the lobster was bland and flavorless. It's a shame as this place is right around the corner for me, but I would not come back.

Walked by the place and checked on Yelp. It looked good. So want to give a try. At a price $70 for Omakase. It's not bad. I ordered additional order of Sea Scallop and Chu Toro. Only $19 additional. It's very fresh fish and pretty tasty. The server was very accommodating, I like their service. The environment was pretty friendly, not crowed, because it was early lunch. For the price and freshness of the fishes and service, no reservation needed for lunch. I will come back if I am in the neighborhood again.

I used to love Bondi especially because of their cauliflower rice option. I could eat it everyday! However, I got a box of 15 pieces delivered to me recently and it did not taste fresh. I don't think I will be ordering it again. Very disappointed.

This place is the best. Sitting at the bar gives such a good vibe as you see the chefs prepare your rolls. The spicy tuna crispy rice is out of this world! Great sake selection as well. The servers are always so nice and the food comes out fast. One of our favorite neighborhood spots!

Food and service at Bondi are excellent. Sushi is fresh, supple and delicious. We went for Happy Hour-- before 6pm. They have a great point system that for every $50 spent, $5 off. Only serve at the bar, so the ambiance is not for everyone. The stools are a bit high.

very disappointed. ordered several hand rolls and tasted like nothing, and a few did NOT taste fresh. If you close your eyes you would not know it was fish and a number of them were a little "off". waiters were barely present . didn't feel too good afterwards and I didn't eat anything else today. felt rushed with people waiting for limited seats . really upset

Bondi is a neat spot. There is one big island bar with bar seating all around. They also have a takeout side where they do a bunch of business. Went with the $32 lunch special. They also have a $26 one. The salmon sashimi and crispy rice were delicious. The sushi was well made and fresh. I bet they do more takeout than dine in. A little more pricey than your typical neighborhood sushi place. Good not great.

Came here specifically to eat the lunch special menu. The website is not updated and it says the lunch special is until 5.30. So we came in at 3.30 and saw the sign outside that says lunch special is until 3.00. They were not willing to accommodate even though it's their fault for not updating the hours on the website.

TAKEOUT ORDER Was in the mood for some sushi. I'm very skeptical about where I order raw fish. Decided to give this place a try based off the photos online and honestly, it didn't give what it should've gave. I went back a second time to make sure and confirmed, it's JUST OK. The best thing I ordered was the crispy lobster, and truffle avocado, which wasn't crispy by the way. The rice was very gummy. The lobster however, was fresh and I enjoyed the accompaniments on top. I also tried a bowl with yellowtail, sriracha kale, ponzu corn, salt and vinegar wontons, white rice and micro greens. Everything was great BUT the fish. The fish was horrendously cut and didn't taste very fresh. Yellowtail is my go to when ordering raw because the taste is supposed to be very mild, this wasn't unfortunately. I should've known better, as the restaurant itself had a strong fish market smell. I had to wait outside. ( not putrid but definitely fishy ) I wouldn't order here again, the packaging was very cute though !

Take out - I was surprised to see the menu to dine in and take out quite different when I got there. I was ready to order some sushi pieces to go but later realized that those are only for dining in. The website either didn't specify or I was a bit confused about where to look. I got the salmon crispy rice and a few other rolls. In my honest opinion, I wasn't too impressed with the sushi overall. The crispy rice was my least favorite thing, I was quite surprised that it was considered one of the most popular things to get, but maybe I am spoiled with good sushi rice and it wasn't for me. The rice was all chewy and it really didn't complement the sushi. Looking back, I wished I peeled off the fish and eaten it by itself but instead I kept giving the benefit of the doubt even though it came with four pieces. As mentioned, the sushi roll wasn't too impressive. Not sure if the dine-in experience is better but I probably wouldn't get takeout again.

I was in Bondi today having the lunch special with a friend. It is an amazing lunch special, one that I highly recommend. The service is fantastic and I attribute it to Curt, the manager there. Curt was friendly, warm, professional, helpful and extremely welcoming. Bondi is lucky to have him and it is one of the main reasons I will be back. Thanks for a great experience.

i just ordered from them and not only was my food 45 munited late but my order was completely wrong. The rolls i ordered were not there. I cannot eat brown rice and they made the rolls with brown rice which is an additional charge that i did not choose. What an awful experience.

This review is only for their takeout, not their sushi bar! Ordered lunch from here with a bunch of coworkers and was honestly very underwhelmed. We got a mix of rolls and crispy rice and miso soup and overall I would just say everything was pretty overpriced for what you got. It's obviously cool and trendy to have the sushi served in the special boxes, but the rolls were pretty small and the crispy rice was SUPER chewy....more than I'd expect for being delivery! I would try it again if someone else wanted to get it but I'd rather go in person to the sushi bar to try that. For delivery there are way better/cheaper options nearby!!

Plump, flavorful, and a great bite of sushi! The fish was fresh and the avocados were a great compliment to the salmon. A good portion of salmon to avocado, rice, and seaweed ratio as well. I got this to go and they packaged it up pretty nicely. Would come again to try other varieties of sushi.

Took forever to arrive and they were very unclear with the status despite us calling four times. It arrived warm and there were bits of shell in every spicy crab piece I ate. The spicy tuna roll was filled halfway with tuna and the bottom was stuffed the rest of the way with a little piece of salmon. I understand all sushi has these risks but for this price it was very disappointing.

We really enjoyed our first meal at Bondi! It was a beautiful Friday and there was construction being done on the apartment above us, so we decided to go out for lunch. We got take out from Bondi and sat at one of the tables outside. We had: - Spicy Tuna Bowl with Cauliflower Rice - very good! They give you extra spicy mayo. - Surf & Turf with White Rice - also very good. The beef was salty and good. The shrimp were fresh and tasty. - Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice - tasty, the rice was just crispy enough but not deep fried. Overall we very much enjoyed our meal and will be coming back.

I've only gotten delivery but I definitely enjoyed my order. I'm a creature of habit so I get the Bondi's Best Box which comprises of truffle avocado, spicy tuna, salmon cucumber and crab. It's pricy but I suppose it's not a good idea to buy cheap sushi. For the Bondi Best Box, you get a total of 16 pieces. It was satisfying--I would recommend.

Absolutely destroyed my stomach and also just not very good. They can't roll their sushi rolls to save their lives. Expensive and fully not worth it. Pass.

Ordered takeout from here in earlier 2022. It's definitely a splurge sushi purchase ~$30 for the special set, so you're going for quality over quantity here. The rolls were tasty and had a lot of seafood. My favorite was the crab roll. You can definitely go to other places and get 3-4 bigger rolls for the price but this place is worth a shot for more upscale sushi that is fast or takeout.

Takeout was horrendous. Not only did I wait a half hour waiting at the location past the estimated ready time, the food was just plain disgusting. There are photos on Yelp of the dine in experience that look absolutely nothing like what I received on takeout. I tried the spicy tuna crispy rice, which is supposed to have avocado and jalapeño. Yelp photos show two giant slices of avocado on each, yet I got nasty gray looking fish topped by a penny-sized sliver of browning avocado. Yellowtail crispy rice was missing the scallions, which I'd overlook if they didn't want to charge a full dollar to add them to something that doesn't contain them. Neither of the "crispy rice" pieces actually had crispy rice... simply tough and chewy rice. Perhaps the dine in experience is better, but the takeout was terrible. Just unappetizing, unfulfilling bites that come with an exorbitant price tag. They can't even blame an app- I ordered directly off of their own website. Don't recommend, wouldn't go back. Which is too bad, because a lot of their stuff sounded good. I guess sounded being the keyword there.

Very fresh, good basic sushi offerings plus some interesting twists, like truffle avocado rolls. There is an option to get a sampler box with four times four pieces.

Great affordable price for omakase, loved the layout of this location, felt so clean and sparkly new! Fish was fresh, for $70 really not bad at all!

I really enjoyed my experience here! the spicy edamame, yellowtail jalapeño , hand rolls( spicy tuna, spicy crab, yellowtail, waygu) were fresh and was a pleasant moment with each mouthful. i wish they had more servers working because i experienced long wait times to add to our order i assume like others and i could tell the server was overwhelmed having to tend to everyone as well as refill waters, watch the front desk & seat as well as in and out of the kitchen. no shade to her i hope they hire more people alongside her!

I will be quick here... though the poke bowl tasted great but not sure if I want to spend $22 (including delivery charges) for a bowl filled 60 % with white rice. I can cook rice on my own.. thank you

Awful service and awful ventilation (our clothes smelled of cooked food later that eve). We asked them to make the rolls inside out as my daughter cant chew if the seaweed is on the outside, and they would absolutely not accommodate the request. EVERY sushi restaurant we have been to, even the fanciest ones, have been willing to make the rolls inside out for a child. We got up and left, as there was no way I would give my money to this business.

Another amazing sushi spot that I got to experience was thanks to my sister because this is her frequent go to spot!! The ambience was lively and cool music playing in the background while people are eating fresh sushi around the island and chatting away. We sat around the island on the stool chairs and I'm glad they had little hooks under the island table - made it very convenient for me to place my mini backpack. The waiters and Itamae were kind and helpful! The waiter took our order and there was QR code placed in case we want to order more. My sister ordered bunch of dishes and I tried the Wagyu sushi and oh my god it was the best so delicious and it melts in your mouth perfectly!! I also ordered for myself the salmon and spicy tuna it was fresh and I enjoyed them a lot - Just thinking about it right now makes me hungry. The only downside for me it was only hand rolls and they didn't have the option of cut roll. Hopefully they add the option soon for cut rolls. Will definitely will be back more often!!

Wanted to love it but it missed. Sushi ok but options were low and not filling. It wasn't great so you need too end sushi at this price point. Maybe take out is better?

Love Bondi but found hair-like strands in my to-go order of salmon crispy rice. The photos are of 3 separate pieces that all had these short black and light brown strands. Not sure if that's just part of the fish but I've never seen it in previous orders.

My friend and I are visiting the Upper East Side and by chance stumbled upon a very cool sushi bar for lunch. We were greeted by Maki. She welcomed us in with a smile and immediately sat us at the sushi bar. After that, wow, what a great experience ! The food was great , not to mention the hospitality and attention to service. What an absolute breath of fresh air! I was raised in the restaurant business so my eye is very keen to recognizing something special.. To put it lightly...I was very impressed. . Later, Curtis the manager came by and asked how everything was. I let him know that the level of hospitality I experienced in this restaurant reminded me of my Italian father ,Charlie Gallo, and how he would "work a room" in our restaurants in LA, making everyone feel special and loved. That is why this place stands out. Good for you Bondi.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. We forgot to take pictures of all of the items, but we really enjoyed most of the things we ordered. We started with the spicy tuna crispy rice and tuna crisps. The spicy tuna crispy rice was very good, but it would have been more enjoyable if the fish was not so cold. The tuna crisps were good but I don't know if I would order it again. We also got the yellowtail jalapeño which I would definitely recommend. I got the salmon and spicy tuna handroll and I really enjoyed both of them. My husband also got the salmon, toro and wagyu sushi and really enjoyed the toro and wagyu. The only strange thing is that they don't serve rolls but if you order take out then they do serve rolls.

I was craving sushi, so I ordered a few different rolls last Friday night via DoorDash. 1- Build Your Own Box: $23 - BYO Rolls: Spicy Tuna (4 pieces) - BYO Rolls: Spicy Salmon (4 pieces) - BYO Rolls: Salmon Jalapeno (4 pieces) - BYO Rolls: Salmon Avocado (4 pieces) 2- Spicy Tuna roll (8 pieces) $10.50 - Pros: Fast delivery (from order to delivery- within 30 mins); nice modern packaging - Cons: It was just OK. I specifically ordered spicy rolls since I like heat, BUT the spicy tuna/ spicy salmon really were not spicy at all. This was a tad disappointing. Did it satisfy my sushi craving? Yes. Was it mediocre sushi though? Yes. Would I order from Bondi Sushi again? Unfortunately, probably not.

Mediocre and unpleasant. I should of read the reviews before ordering here. Don't go by "the pictures look nice" like I did. The packaging is cute but the quality of the food is just not good. The fish is oddly warm and the rice is so chewy it almost feels waxy. The box reeked like a fish market upon arrival. And now after a few bites I feel nauseous. I eat sushi often and decided to try this place since it's close to my job but I completely regret it. It's a BIG no for me.

3 stars for super friendly staffs, location, wheelchair friendliness and decor. But the sushi itself isn't great. But they do serve Brooklyn Kura and nice HH drink deal. So it's a nice place to catch up with a friend who doesn't want to meet at coffee shop or dark bars

Fresh sushi! We were promptly seated and the chefs went right to work preparing what we'd ordered - a little bit of everything on the menu. The fish was delicious and the service was attentive and friendly. The interior is modern and calming. The seating is a little cramped but hey its NYC nothing much we can do about that. I would recommend this place.

The crispy rice under the four pieces was inedible. It was hard and not fresh. We ordered four crispy roll packs so it was very disappointing! When we went to toast to complain, the app did not even list that we ordered. Threw out all four packs, sixteen pieces!

I went for a late lunch, so it was very quiet. Service was exceptional. My server had great recommendations and gave me a complimentary sake shot! And the food.... Yumm-mmy. I'm definitely coming back. I had the lunch special. 1 appetizer, 2 Nigri pieces, 2 handrolls.

This is my go to Uber eats sushi order! I love the truffle avocado, salmon avocado, spicy tuna, and yellow scallion. It's packaged very nicely and the fish is fresh! I haven't tried eating in yet but definitely try for takeout!

Placed an order for delivery and it took over an hour to arrive and when it did, it was very lackluster. The miso soup was freezing cold and half spilled, and the sushi did not taste fresh. Giving 2 starts instead of 1 as I've eaten here before and enjoyed it, but this experience was not up to par.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING TO GO/FOR PICK UP. I waited 30 minutes past the pick up time for a tiny order I put in as a future order on seamless. I showed up 5 minutes after the order was supposed to be ready and was told it wasn't ready yet, so I went out and came back 15 minutes later. Still not ready and I watched literal dozens of delivery orders get picked up in the mean time. When I asked again, I was very rudely told that "the crispy rice takes time". Ma'am. We both know that the rice is barely crispy, only half the time, and that it shouldn't take 30 minutes to do.

This place looks really fancy and pricy, yea it is pricy. I was a bit hesitant to spend so much on a bowl, and then when I saw the size I felt like I played myself. But once I tried the food, oh wow it was so delicious. I thought it wouldn't fill me up b/c it appeared small but I was satiated. I'm not a fan of the pricing but wow the taste is amazing so it is definitely worth it.

Literal garbage sushi. They also forgot half my order. I'd give it zero stars if I could.
