Where Are Olives Grown in the U.S.? 9 Places to Taste Olive Oil - AFAR

"On a former almond farm with Italian-style architecture, the orchard was established after importing and quarantining 1,200 Sicilian trees before the first harvest in 2009; visitors can tour the mill and orchard by appointment and enjoy outdoor tastings of balsamic vinegars paired with pizza baked in an on-site wood-burning brick oven." - Dawn Reiss

Never thought I’d say this, but olive oil just earned its place in my foodie heart. Big thanks to Karen and her team for hosting an incredible tasting and tour today. First-class hospitality, engaging stories, and flavors I never saw coming. Highly recommend checking them out!

My friend booked the tour so I did not have any expectations prior to the event since I don’t usually use olive oil. But the experience greatly exceeded my expectations. The olive oil I got back from the tour contains so much freshly gained knowledge around olive oil as well as the inspiring life story of the owners. At the tour we were met with a lot of patience from owners, who shared the stories of the beautiful life and farm they have built through decades of hard work, love, and passion. Truly a wonderful experience! I think I will be a continuous customer of the product

Google
I highly recommend this beautiful tour and delicious olive oil. Karen and Malcolm Bond are such gracious and informative hosts. You see first hand in person and from videos in the tasting room the strict attention to detail that is required to produce flavorsome EVOO — selection of complementary blend of Sicilian trees that are precisely pruned, immaculate facilities, expedited harvest to milling time, and quality control that approves only superior product for bottling. I ordered a case and cannot wait until it is delivered.

I learned of Bondolio Olive Oil when looking for something fun to do in the area on my birthday. I saw an online listing for their holiday tasting and shopping event, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Bought three types of Bondolio olive oil and will be replenishing supplies as they are all delicious! SO glad we discovered this gem.

Yelp
The Bondolio olive farm is open to the public just 3 times per year and offers in depth tastings of not only their small batch olive oils, but also eclectic imported products from Italy, Spain, and France. For 2018 the holiday tastings are available December 2, 9, and 16 from 10:00 - 1:00pm. Wood fired brick oven pizzas, salads, and local wines were available in addition to the product tasting. Today, chef/author Rolando Beramendi from Florence was onsite signing copies of his cookbook "Autentico". The owners take great pride in the artisanal craft of making olive oil and have really done their homework on varietals and extraction methods. Unlike any other California olive oil I've tasted. They imported 3 types of trees from Italy to populate what was once and almond tree farm. The smartest decision was to include a Sicilian variety which is known for its peppery notes. What started as a hobby has flourished into a business that took 2 gold medals in New York and LA events over the last two years. With less than 50K gallons of their signature oil produced annually, it can be hard to find. Mainly co-ops and fine food specialty shops and mail order direct. The property is gorgeous and is available for special events like weddings etc. I'll be back next year, but wish the shop was open year round for purchases.

Yelp
This is my second olive oil tour and I will definitely be back to visit! I absolutely loved our tour, Karen was personable, honest and a great host for the olive farm. We learned a great deal about the olives, the machinery, how the farm (and seedlings) were started, and how to properly taste the oil. My husband and I are definitely planning on coming back in December when she has a few larger open tastings during the weekend!
