Carversteak steakhouse headed to Resorts World reveals its four private dining venues - Eater Vegas

"The Knife Shop next to the steakhouse’s entrance on the north end of the District, the 70,000-square-foot shopping venue at the front of the resort, comes outfitted with, of course, knives decorating the wall. This 364-square-foot space seats up to 14 people." - Susan Stapleton

Google
should be able to SLICE through an onion or CUT fabric with the newly sharpened tools i left in the hands of the matriarch of this business to BE sharpened. but i can neither slice nor cut any better than before i paid 85 dollars to her (while enduring way too long chatty stories about her past. god bless her, but people have schedules!) won’t be dropping in here ever again.

Google
I've had several types of kitchen knives sharpened over the past couple of years. The results have always been great with sharp knives that actually stay that way even with near daily use.

The owner was very nice to me and I brought her my Italian tailors shears for sharpening. She explained that my type of shears is special and advised to send them over to the representative office so they take a good care of them. Extremely honest and I very appreciate it!

Went to go find a present for my dad and found a beautiful knife for a fair price. Although they work out of their home, they were very professional and kind. I would highly recommend this store for anyone looking for good knives and friendly conversations. Felt just like being with family.

Google
This experience was like walking into your grandma's house, so yes you will be walking into her home. Home businesses are hit and miss with people since alot of people are use to a business atmosphere instead of a very personal space, like a home. Lynn is 83 years old and has 40 years of experience sharpening knives. She has a great selection of knives to buy from for a decent price.

Google
My spouse and I went to this store not sure what to expect but the owner was super kind and showed us her collection of knives, swords, and canes! We came looking for a gift and found everything here is reasonably priced along with lots of knives that are no longer made. If you're a knife enthusiasts, and looking to add to your collect, this is THE place to go to:)

I lived in las vegas for 10 years and never knew this store was here. I came back to visit and decided to stop in and check the store out.( I now have a favorite knife store !! )when you first walk in,it's a little overwhelming because there are knives everywhere but that's exactly what I was looking for in a cutlery shop . they have a lot of quality knives and I was excited to look and handle some knives that I have seen online that I would never have the opportunity to see and feel the quality unless I just purchased it first online.I met the owner Lynn bonds and I really enjoyed talking to her ,she is full of knowledge and very helpful as well as her employees. they had no problems with me asking to see many of the knives they had in their cases, unlike some stores I have gone into . They do not get annoyed by having to open the case a few times to play with the knives . The prices are a bit high ,but I am sure Lynn would work with you on the price, Remember it is a small store and they have to make a living! it's well worth a few extra bucks to keep such a great local store in business. another great service the store offers is that they sharpen knives at great prices with next day service. so to make a long story short...I would highly recommend this store if your looking for some unique and quality knives that you can't find anywhere else with some nice people to deal with and maybe learn a thing or two while your there! next time I'm in town I will definitely stop in .I hope this review helps!!!! :-)

Google
I had several knives sharpened here. She sharpened them while I waited. She also has an extensive selection of chef's knives to kitchen knives. Very nice ladies. I will visit her again.

Yelp
I needed a quick but good knife sharpening on my camping and pocket knives. I was able to make an appointment for the time I needed and made my way over. For me, it was a short drive. I was greeted warmly and made to feel comfortable and we chatted while she began to sharpen my knives. She took the time to explain what she was doing, why she was doing it, and the equipment being used. This was a nice and welcome touch as I have never had the ability to sharpen knives correctly. I can build computers or houses, but don't ask me to sharpen a knife. The cost for the 3 knives was far less than I expected. I felt like the old commercial where the lady tells her husband "start the car, start the car". So great service and great prices. I think she does this just to keep busy and really isn't trying to make a bunch of money. She takes pride in her work, and that is a nice thing these days.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a high end kitchen cleaver and while the easiest thing to do would have been to shop online by reviews I decided to try to shop and support locals. A quick google search brought up Bonds in a newspaper interview of Lynn the proprietor, I admired this grandmothers tenacity in keeping her business alive thru Covid and hard economic times so after calling to confirm she was indeed still in business(operating out of her home now) we took a short drive over. As one reviewer said, there is definitely a hint of hoarder in her house but it felt more like something out of Hogwarts to me which was fun. Lynn is the matriarch in her home of multi generations and the floor and walls are piled high from floor to ceiling with every type of cutlery known from kitchen to camping to tactical... how she remembers what she has and where it is stored is a marvel in itself. After inspecting a range of cleavers we fell in love with a 7" Shun DM712 chefs knife from Japan, and to my surprise Lynns price was very competitive with the best online pricing. Its certainly was an experience and I plan to shop with her again for a good set of steak knives. As a former boutique wineshop owner from NY...support and buy local!!!

Hope G.

Yelp
Despite being ran out of owners home due to covid , service was excellent. Found exactly what I was looking for and more. Very kind owners, bring cash.

Yelp
Is this cutlery shop still in business? I see two locations? Would love see what knives they have. Coming to Vegas soon.

Charles E.

Yelp
A holdout against the Internet giants, bonds cutlery is a gem and so is Lynn. I purchased a nice axe, a neck knife and a couple of Damascus fixed blades, all for a very reasonable price

Yelp
If you're someone who appreciates the beauty and obligatory purpose of a properly sharpened knife, you must visit Lynne. I'm pretty sure she was the inspiration for the character, Hattori Hanzō, in Kill Bill. Lynne's knowledge and warm hospitality is tantamount to her skill producing the edge you yearned for, and the best part is: knives and other sharp stuff tend to need sharpening which means you get to see her again.

Yelp
Out of the gate, the owner (I presume) was pretty grumpy. He talked to me like I'd never owned a knife before and like I was incompetent. To add to that, the knives are pretty horribly priced. When I arrived, I inquired about bushcraft knives. The owner shook his head and told me he didn't have any (when clearly there were several). Apparently unaware of what he had just said, he showed me a Benchmade Bushcraft and Morakniv Full Tang Blade. To give you an example of how overpriced the knives are, the Morakniv knife was priced at $145 in his shop. This same knife can be bought for $30-$40 on Amazon. The benchmade was $230, which is the current price on the Benchmade website. While I am a huge fan of small business, I am not a fan of business done poorly. The stores website claims that there is a liquidation going on, starting in April 2018 and continuing for the foreseeable future, and that all knives are 50% off. This clearly is not the case.

Yelp
I got 3 knives for my kitchen sharpened by Lyn. She did them amazingly quick and a beyond fair price. Just tested them and they are working exactly as I hoped. The only drawback is she is now working out of her house which is a ways from where I live, but well worth the drive. I will be going back when needed.

Yelp
So my last knife was stolen and I came by this store while driving to the post office. I stopped on my way back and while I had to wait some time because some customers were kind of weird, but ok that's not the shops fault. So I asked for the knife I wanted and yes they had a similar kind, and I got what I wanted. They had some tips where not to go in the area and such. Yes while I got something that is street legal in all states, some PD's just will take it and hope you sue them. As I don't have time for this game, I am happy that they warned me about it. So if you want great customer service, just go there and they will help you as good as it goes.

Yelp
I went here right before they closed. Kinda sad, they just could not compete with all the internet and Amazon prices. Good people. really knew their knives. Will give them another positive, I never got a counterfeit knife from them. I believe they still sell knives online. Not sure if they still offer their knife sharpening services.
google avatar

Nicolette H.

Yelp
You walk into the store and the place is just packed with knives. Knives knives knives! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Their business is moving soon but I plan to make the trip to their new location, the owners are friendly and they never give me weird looks whenever I buy copious amounts of knives at a time. They're quick to answer questions and always offer to put in orders for things if they don't have it in stock.
google avatar

Dirk T.

Yelp
These people really are morons. Don't let them touch your knives. I asked for a different clip for a Benchmade Knife and she didn't have the correct one so she wanted to BEND my existing clip. Even after I told her not to do it - she did it anyway- and broke it. Then when she found out that she had a replacement that would fit - she mounted it on the wrong side - and ruined the screw so it wouldn't come out. Cant even figure out how to install a clip on a knife without ruining it. Unbelievable. Thank god that I had just bought a backup knife from them- AT A GREATLY INFLATED PRICE.

Yelp
I run a kitchen and bring the knives here quite frequently to be sharpened . I asked them about a ceramic rod honer, and they recommended a Mack 2200 grit that needed to be ordered they said she would order it, come in a week and a 1/2 later and she tells me nope have not got around to it yet. I found the same one on amazon and had within days. I brought my 6 knives in to be sharpened today as I do every other month and apparently the lady that normally does the sharpening is out for the week. This wouldn't of bothered me as much as it did except there is a guy there that clearly knows how to sharpen, because the girl that was helping me specifically asked him if he was doing any sharpening today and he said "nope". This place has lost my business there are too many other options out there.

Yelp
Do not trust anyone else in the city with one of the most important tools in your kitchen. Your knives. I have sent my knives here twice and each time I have had fabulous customer service, quality "repair" and fast turnaround. I take my Wusthof, Global and even my cheapy Top Chef (Master Cutlery) brand knives here. The service is the same all around the cheapies or not!
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Had everything but the knife I wanted. The part I really didn't like is that I was followed around the store like I was going to steal something. Pretty disappointing. If you want some weird swords I guess come here. Also all there benchmade knives were way over priced. I would go somewhere else.
google avatar

Erin Q.

Yelp
I try to support small businesses when I can. This place is overpriced compared to the internet... but you get to hold the knives before purchase which would be good except for the following.... Whatever you do don't let them sharpen your knives... I left a Benchmade 553 tanto and got back a spey point (look it up). As he was giving me back my knife he was carrying on some tirade about how tanto grinds are fake "americanized" and B*S* popularized by cold steel blah blah blah. I looked at my knife and said "What is this?" His response was actually "So did I F* up your knife enough?" I can only imagine he sharpened my blade drunk. So basically if you want to pay too much or have one of your personal knives trashed this is the best store in town.

Yelp
Suffering from "buyer's remorse." The wife and I were in Las Vegas so we stopped in. The store was definitely fully stocked and service was friendly and knowledgeable. The problem I have is that when we got home, I found the very same knife sharpener I purchased from them at $18.95 was also available on line for anywhere from $11.06 to $13.34 with free shipping. Makes me wonder if other items in their store were also a bit pricey?

Yelp
I thought this place was great! The service wasn't horrible at all- although I could tell they definitely keep a watchful eye for shoplifters, which could feel insulting. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do! I went in here on a whim and just to kill some time, and walked out having found two perfect keychains that I would never have thought they would carry. The (I think) owner was pretty warm and helpful and even recommended another local business to me. There are tons of products in this store! It can be a little overwhelming, but you'll more than likely find what you're looking for.

Yelp
My husband went here for the first and LAST time recently. Yesterday(5/2/17) he went in to have his professional knives sharpened. He told the man that he HAD to have them back by a certain time, as he was interviewing for an executive chef position the next day. "Don't worry, they'll be done tomorrow by 10:30 am." Well, fast forward to today at 10:30 my husband is told "Oh, they didn't get to yours yet." So he's now worried he'll be late for his tasting. Finally, he gets the knives back and THERE WAS BLOOD ON THE KNIVES!! Someone apparently cut themselves, bled on the knives and didn't even clean them!! So, AFTER my husband demanded they clean it, he high tailed it to the tasting. Unprosssional, untimely and unclean practices! They have lost a good client with us!

Yelp
Very disappointed in their work. I brought in 4 knives that I use for work and that day I got to work to see how sharp they were I could barley even cut with them. One of my knives I couldn't even cut a lemon with. My other knives that I use to cut stake I felt like I had to saw through the meat. I feel like I could have did a better job with a sharpening stone and my eyes closed. I'll make sure to never come here again and inform all my co-workers not to bring their knives here to get sharpened

Yelp
You will find that this place is the same place as bonds house of cutlery. Customer service is sub-par and their add is definitely fake that was posted on backpage. Was not impressed by the guy wearing 8 knives on him or him telling me "yeah" when I asked for assistance looking for a particular product. I will not come back here or spend any money in this place.

Yelp
You don't need a knife store that often however when you do THIS IS THE BEST in town. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and if you like a little friendly bantering back and forth, these people are FANTASTIC!!! They carry a large selection of knives both culinary, sport, utility and throwing. Also they WILL SPEND TIME to teach you proper throwing techniques. Lastly, their prices are more than fair. And PLEASE don't tell me that you can get it for less off of the Internet, of course you can but two things; one, you have to wait for delivery and two; you won't get the first hand knowledge from actual human beings. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.
google avatar

Barbara E.

Yelp
I dropped off 16 knives and they were ready an hour later. Fast and thorough service!
google avatar

T. R.

Yelp
Way too pricey. They had a pretty good selection but the place is a mess. The prices were a lot more than other places on line i checked out. The staff was helpful enough but it felt like a swap meet with the mess and disorganization.

Bryan R.

Yelp
Upon entering this store, I found this place to be very cluttered and disorganized. The staff here is lacks knowledge but overall is friendly. However? I could not give this place two stars due to the fact that they refused to sell me an item that I know is completely legal. I could basically buy anything in that store but one item. I find that this place could really could do better if the prices were a lot more competitive unlike the ad that is placed outside of Sahara that everything states that everything is 30 percent off and that the employees should be current with Nevada law.
google avatar

Autumn H.

Yelp
Very interesting owner with a lot of history. Stop in and look around, there is a vast selection.

Garrett B.

Yelp
Huge selection of knives. Owner and staff very knowledgeable. Willing to take time to help you with your purchase. Awesome store.

Yelp
Friendly staff lots of merchandise cool shop thats been there 30 plus years. Next time youre in vegas folks check it out

Michael V.

Yelp
Very nice and knowledgeable workers. No complaints. I definitely will visit when in vegas again.

Itay J.

Yelp
I walked in here on a short stay in Vegas, the staff was pretty helpful and the selection was great. The only real downside, and the major turn off was the prices. I don't think they do much research into their competitors price points and their list prices I found were typically anywhere from 20% to 40 % higher than most stores (online and not) that I have come across. My heart actually sank a little when I realized I overpaid for a Spyderco C174 GP by around $80 bucks, even after haggling for a while and getting "15%" off. Great selection, stay away if your looking for a good deal.

Mark Z.

Yelp
Good selection of knives, although very cluttered. The help is hit or miss depending on the day, also. Don't bother calling the store to ask basic questions about store inventory unless you enjoy being rudely corrected on your knife tastes by an attendant whose knowledge of current knife models is not fully up-to-date..

Kyle S.

Yelp
Great selection of high quality knives. Anything from pocket carry to culinary, as well as some rare custom pieces.Really a great selection. The prices are a little above average, but I am happy to support a local with such a great selection. Contrary to other posts, I received excellent customer service. I will be back to this place.

Barbara H.

Yelp
I have know the owner Lynn Bonds for more than 50 years and she has been in business for 30 years. If you have ever had any problems she has always taken care of whatever the problem is. I happen to know that she was out of town when the review of 4/26/10 was written and this is not her policy. Please contact Lynn regarding your poor customer service.

Doug M.

Yelp
Weird place and I am conflicted. They have a lot of very nice knives and all the things a knife enthusiast like myself would look for as far as selection. That is it. First of all, their prices are laughably high. That alone makes me wonder what their business is about. The one staff member I dealt with was, how do I say? A goof. He was condescending and treated me like I had no idea what I was talking about. I said I wanted a particular knife because I was from out of town and could not carry one on the plane .During my trip, I would be outdoors and out in the desert a lot. The one I asked for is a decent well respected but value knife. His reaction when I named it was "Eww. I just puked in my mouth." Seriously? That's how you talk to a customer? I did my best not get into a "who knows more" debate and for the most just smiled & nodded.Even my GF who was there also and usually just waits quietly had a look of "Is this guy for real". I did question the crazy high prices in a very benign way "Why is this that price when even MSRP in some examples is only...?" He just said very bluntly "That's what it is. It's on the sticker". Okaaaay. Then it got really weird. I made an off the cuff comment trying to make light conversation about how relaxed the knife laws are in Nevada compared to elsewhere and where I am from. I did plenty of research. He went of on a crazy tangent and even started giving absurd legal advice. "If the cops search you in Henderson they will take your knife and thank you for buying it for them. If that happens, tell them to arrest you. They will then have some explaining to do"He actually sounded serious that this would be a reasonable course of action. WHAT?! That was just a taste of the place and that clown. It's sad because of the cool inventory. I would not bother, VERY disappointing.
