Great food, service, and atmosphere. Fully stocked Bar and nice dining and bar areas. Large portions and the four types of house made barbecue sauce they had were all good and it’s rare for me to think that. All four of us loved it. Good French fries too.

Place was crowded on a frigidly cold Friday 6:15 pm. Half rack of perfect ribs with choice of 2 sides $23. Perfect amount (hearty eater). I really liked their selection of IPA. Very good service in a casual, comfortable country setting.

I ordered the Corn fritters and crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer which both were amazing! But then for my meal I got the BBQ combo which came with about 4 bones (ribs) a 1/4 chicken, pulled pork, brisket and 2 sides. My sides were collard greens and baked beans. I added the mac and cheese. Seems like a lot of food I know but my wife and I split the meal. Ok so the good, the sides and the mac and cheese were very good, I also thought the pulled pork was ok. Now the bad, the ribs were so dry we could not eat them, the 1/4 chicken was about the size of an Cornish hen and so over cooked when picked it up all the bones and meat feel apart onto my plate and it taste like paste. The brisket was about 80% fat and I had to hunt through it to find the meat. I would have sent it back but we were with 3 other couples and we all had about the same experience! This was restaurant sand bagging at it's worst! Shameful. I have had MUCH better BBQ at the Famous place!

The service was awesome and food was delicious. 2 winning combinations in my book. We were there for my sisters 70th birthday party and was flawless.

Stopped here for lunch & got the prime rib melt and fries which was PERFECTION! Friendly service and love the spooky decor!

First time here. Very interesting decor. Someone told me it used to be a general store turned into a restaurant. Very neat place. The staff was very friendly. Food was excellent. We got a fish sandwich, chicken sandwich, death by pork sandwich and the Firehouse hamburger. Definitely the best of them. All in my opinion was the Firehouse Burger. The spicy sauce was awesome. And the roasted pepper on top was a perfect addition. As far as appetizers, we only ordered the fried mushrooms and there was six of them and they were huge! Definitely come check this place out and you will not regret it!

Used to love this place. The food quality has gone down the drain. Last three times we couldn't finish our meals costing almost $100 for two of us. Service and the atmosphere are great as always though. Brisket was pure fat, southern fried chicken was super salty and the gravy... well who knows what happened to that but the chicken was drowned in it and the steak was mostly fat and had a strange taste. Sad to say we won't be back.

Drove a hour to meet a buddy up here(and his cool kid). The atmosphere was very loud. This placed was packed. The service struggled a little bit cause it was so busy, but nothing unacceptable. On to the star of the show, which is the main reason for the 5 stars.......THE FOOD. Had fried pickles, nachos 0, onion rings for appetizer and they were all top notch. The broasted chicken was simply amazing. It was crispy and steaming hot. The platter was every bit as good as the chicken. The ribs were some if the best I have had in a long time. On to deserts.. This without a doubt the best bread pudding I have had in my entire life. The carrot was pretty good. Will be looking for an excuse to come eat here again.

Okay let me start by saying all the positives we experienced: 1) what a cute & historic / charming location! there are apparently friendly ghosts if you're into that. 2) that their family meal is an incredible value - $69.99 for Full rack of ribs, whole smoked chicken, 1/2 lb. of smoked brisket or pulled pork. Served with baked beans, creamy coleslaw, french fries and cornbread muffins. Definitely savings vs. ordering that a la carte. 3) online ordering was super convenient & food was ready when quoted. I enjoyed the slaw (not too mayo heavy), the pulled pork (flavorful and nicely smoked) and the cornbread muffins. French fries weren't half bad either. I would come back for the fried pickles, but the Saline location is way closer to me!

Very good place kind of in the middle of nowhere. Not your average rib tips. These things are basically fatty ribs. Collard greens have pork in them and are some of the best around. We've been going out of our way to come here since it's about 45 minute drive but worth it. Got to sit in the patio today!!! Server was spectacular!

This place is delicious every single time. I have never had a bad experience at Bone Heads - getting takeout or dining in. Will continue to go here every time I get a craving for their fried pickles!!

Man.... It's been a while since I had boneheads and boy has it seemed to go downhill. Ordered several items and wasn't happy with anything outside of their fried pickles. Chicken on sandwich was borderline burnt, pork chops had zero flavor, and the brisket from the sampler legit had to have been rancid. I ordered an extra side of brisket that they forgot and I didn't even call to complain because it was so bad. Had to have another person taste it to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. Both of us spit it out. Not impressed at all which is sad because I remember it being so good.

Always delicious and fun place to go to eat. The atmosphere feels like going to grandmas warm and cozy home with a twist. They change the decor seasonally. A favorite menu item is the barbecue sundae. I usually end up with enough extras for another meal or two.

I had the smoked sausage. It was really good. My girlfriend had the clam chowder and said it was luke warm and not very good.

We started with the hush puppies with honey butter, which we really enjoyed. I had the goblet which was just okay. I ate it but didn't love it, I would try something new next time. The Mac n cheese was very good and my boyfriend liked what he got. The atmosphere was very cute and the staff was very friendly. We will most likely return.

Good Barbecue foods, fast , busy fast paced restaurant. Felt a little rushed. Will be back!

Really cool building. Very historic. Felt authentic. The service was good. I ordered the burger. It was just ok for me. I should have ordered what my buddy did the fried chicken gravy and mashed potatoes. He gave me a bite it was perfectly cooked.

BBQ is what Bone Heads does best and my meal was definitely on point! I ordered the Texas Brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries (there's an upcharge for these) and it was very satisfying. Tender brisket topped with coleslaw, crispy onion straws, and bbq sauce on top of two thick pieces of toasted bread. The mixture of flavors was heavenly and the brisket was tender! I also recommend the sweet potato fries with the lightly flavored horseradish sauce - a perfect combo! This meal was so good I was wanting to go back for the same the next day! As far as atmosphere, Bone Heads is definitely a family dining establishment and it's the decor is little outdated. It maybe part of the atmosphere there are striving for it just wanted to let you know. It's definitely not a hip place and may not make the best impression for a first date. I will definitely go back here and recommend you go too if in the area.

Best thing about this place was the locals great outdoor dining snd awesome interior decor. Food was good, not great. A few thing wrong. The brisket l had too much bark (a bit charred) and I personally don't like when the meat automatically comes with sauce. I want to taste the meat. Beans were good and the collar greens were great. Wish there was honey butter for the cornbread. #spicemeister moderately approved.

Second times a charm... I went to this place about a month ago for the first time and if I was to review it then, It would be totally different reviews. I wanted to give this restaurant a chance to change my mind and they did. Now, this place has been here for years but just like the rest of the paranormal activity believers, I was too skeptical to enter the place. I mean it's rated on the most haunted places in Michigan list and I'd rather NOT be greeted in the restroom, by beloved dear aunt Sally, circa 1973 while I'm trying to do my business. On to the food..I ordered the fried chicken, garlic mash and chicken tortilla soup and a side of Mac and cheese. The fried chicken had gravy and so did the mash. The flavors are superb, chicken extra crispy even underneath the gravy but still super most and cooked to perfection. The garlic mash wasn't over garlicky, perfect taste and consistency with the gravy. The Mac and cheese was just okay in the flavor department but the noodles were cooked great and the cheese sauce with sprinkles of shredded cheese on top gave it a bit of a home cooked flair. THE SOUP... best part of the meal, so many veggies so much soul and flavor I drank the juice. Five stars for me.... Yes yes yes will return!!!

Honestly the worst. As bbq goes this place is just bad. Bad service, wrong order, bbq that lacks any bbq sauce. Dry old coleslaw, whack ass cornbread. Again, no bbq sauce at a bbq place. Staff does not care at all. Ambiance is just another lame biker joint. Seriously I've had better food at most gas stations. Never again. I will not give my money to this crappy place.

Bone Heads atmosphere is a throw back to the 80's and 90's - in a good way. Fun Americana décor and an old-timey plank ceiling are a great setting for some seriously good BBQ. We started out with the fried pickle chips, which were crazy crispy. For an entrée, hubby got the BLT with Bone Heads bacon. It was a big sandwich and hubby loved the bacon. The coleslaw on the side was creamy and delicious. Daughter got the pulled chicken salad and declared it "yummy". And I tried the BBQ sundae with garlic mashed potatoes and pulled pork - I would get it again for sure. This is a ways from our home, but if we're ever in the area again, I would definitely make another visit.

Try the corn fritters. Really good. Service was good. Would definitely go again. Prices good too.

Got take out from this joint the other day. Not gonna spin this in any way. They earned the 5 stars. I just wish there was more value. Serving size is a bit lacking for the cost. Still good shit doe.

For atmosphere, this place has it, hands down! I couldn't get enough of all the ambiance, from furniture and decor to the appearing-authentic walls, banister, ceilings and lights. The menu made it challenging to pick a meal, no doubt! The pictures and smells led me to believe I couldn't go wrong. Still I struggled over the Broasted Chicken or the Texas Barbeque Ruben. ... did I mention the ice tea is actually sweetened? Yay & yum! ... I decided to get the Texas sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. Oh my word, the sandwich sent me to another world. The blend of coleslaw and bbq brisket brought my senses so much pleasure. And the Sweet Potato Fries had a horseradish dip, making that a perfect blend as well. Bonehead's has a beautiful way of bringing delicious flavors together. Added the bread pudding to top off the meal. While it was delicious, I would have preferred it warmed.

Decidedly not bad. I would have preferred if the meat had arrived at the table without barbecue sauce on it, but it wasn't a deal-breaker. I had pulled pork with green beans and baked beans. Both sides were tasty. The meat didn't have much smoke flavor, but it was tender and tasty. Hubby has brisket which I can report was also tasty, probably a bit better than my pulled pork. The place was slammed, but hey -- it was Saturday night. The waitresses hustled like nobody's business, trying to take care of everyone. All in all, I would return.

Bone Heads Bar-B-Que is like eating at your southern grandmother's house... That is, if your grandma is a badass, skeleton-loving biker! Bone Heads is housed in an old house, next to the railroad tracks in Willis. The decor is a mashup of homey finishes and skeleton-forward embellishments with a touch of pirate for good measure. The main dining area is open, and good for accommodating larger parties. I prefer the bar area, which has fewer tables for my intimate parties and a long bar with televisions and Keno. On the menu, bar-b-que is not surprisingly the star. I love the melt-in-your-mouth brisket - No knife needed, and the pig wings appetizer. The BBQ salad is my absolute favorite for a mix of freshness and savory, meaty goodness. The menu also features an array of burgers and sandwiches - all monstrous and meaty. The sides are nothing to write home about, typical bar-b-que sides, but the cajun fries are quite good. Overall, Bone Heads is a great destination for killer atmosphere and solid bar-b-que fare.

Really wanted to like this place but it didn't deliver. Nachos had stale chips from a bag and cheese sauce from a can, little meat. Mac and cheese was cold, garlic toast black on one side and white on the other! Pit beans and green beans were bland and also from a can. As if all the food was reheated instead of prepared fresh. Server Heather was great and the only positive part of the experience.

Love the decor, it's such a neat historical setting. The staff is great, friendly & attentive. The food (which is most important in my opinion) is not that great. Quite a few years ago it was delicious but quality has slipped and we really don't dine here anymore.

They have no idea what good bbq is, way over priced I don't even know how people go there, we tried it when it opened and and was impressed and then we went back ab8 months ago cause they were always busy so we tried again and I'm confused why people go food not cooked all the way through and we weren't the only ones saying it was bad sorry good name but bad food

My friends and I chose this place to eat at after apple picking at a nearby fruit farm. It's a quaint location and quite cute and cozy inside. I split a catfish appetizer and family platter with 5 other people. Initially we thought it wouldn't be enough but we found ourself struggling to finish. The platter came with sides of baked beans and coleslaw, a rack of ribs, a whole smoked chicken, 1/2 lb of brisket, a lot of fries, as well as cornbread muffins. I personally loved the food; we ate up the sides very quickly, the ribs were great, chicken was tender, but the brisket was a bit too dry for my friends.

I just order 2 salads and 2 meals for my kids. I get there and they didn't hear that I ordered 2 salads. Common mistake and I understand that. Went back in got my salad for no extra cost. Which I appreciate very much. However once I get home my wife's salad had no dressing or meat. I call and see if there is anything they can do.... all they said was I could drive the 20 minutes back up so they can put the chicken on..... I'm a little disappointed in the service. We still love them but just feel like they could have done better.

After rave reviews from friends we went to try their brisket ... sadly, it was a disappointing experience. The sides were quite small (cole-slaw) and so were the beans. The brisket was good but not the best. The sad part was looking around at his dirty the place is.. so for me it's a no go.

So we had gone to Thunder Over Michigan on Sunday, had scene the sign and decided to try it. It looks like a barbecue joint off the beaten path - older building with good features and wood inside. Their were two things wrong with my experience - it was a bit warm inside (even with fans going) and my beer wasn't cold enough. Other than that this a place worth going. Service was fine and I appreciated the hustle of our bartender who was also waitressing tables. My girlfriend had the pulled pork sandwich and loved it - I tried the pork and it was pretty damn good. I had the Firehouse Burger and although it wasn't as spicy hot as I'd hoped, it was still on point. Juicy, cooked right and flavorful. The Cajun fries were good as well...regular fries dusted in Cajun spices. If you are ever in the area and itching for BBQ, this place will not disappoint.

Atmosphere was nice. The bar looked amplely stocked. I order takeout for lunch, the favor was okay but my chicken was way overcooked, looked burnt even for bbq. Okay to use in a sandwich with sauce but not stand alone. It was so dry I stopped after eating the breast and decided to eat the sides. I will make a sandwich with the meat tomorrow. I probably will not return.

And as if could be any better! Live music in the dining room. Fall drink special is delicious! Caramel Apple Mimosa with a cinnamon stick and sugar rimmed glass filled with apple pie moonshine and moscato sparkling wine. It's Fall, Y'all!

This time I felt compelled to leave a review. I go here because my friend who is an able to drive, loves their broasted chicken. Which is good but not the best I've ever had. I have experienced multiple times, their food is pre-cooked and heated to serve. My meal was served totally room temperature. We were sitting in the bar area and the bartender and our waitress were literally in a deep conversation facing the wall. Not the best position to serve and observe your customers. The service was very poor. The mushrooms were raw even though we had to send them We still did not eat the mushrooms. I asked to not pay for the cold smothered chicken, and was told that's how their mushrooms are served. Although we could not eat the mushrooms, we were charged for them. That was the last straw and my last trip there. Jim built up a lovely place but has allowed the quality of the service and food to diminish terribly. Will never go back there again and it was very very poorly handled

Boneheads is a great out-of-the-way barbecue spot. The building has wonderful history, which you have to ask about, is haunted, and has some of the best barbecue in the downriver south eastern Michigan region.

Every time I go they are closed. It's way before the time it's suppose to close according to google. Be nice to try it but, maybe they close if not a lot of business? Reviews on food weren't that great so maybe?

we got there a tad early but they were great about seating us. Our friends came in and we ordered an early dinner. The combo BBQ entre was good for the other couple to split My b/f had 1/2 rack of ribs and I had catfish. The food was very good. The wait staff was very good and it was a good place in the middle of nowhere to meet between Belleville and the hinterland where my friends live. Be careful to not confuse this place with their Saline location. I had no idea they had two locations but my friends almost went there by accident. It was our first dining experience since the pandemic so we are out of practice. The only thing is it's often a hopping place so if noise bothers you pick an in between time when there are fewer patrons. Also this is the first place I've ever seen that lets you buy a round for the kitchen staff. Not sure how I feel about the chef drinking in the back but it's an employee minded positive thing as long as they don't drive too soon after. :-) It is also so much better without the smoky atmosphere of older times when we first moved out this way. We dropped a LOT of bar/restaurants off the rotation because of inconsiderate patrons choking us out with their smoking. Michigan is a much better place to live for that change. Glad they made it through the pandemic.

Great barbecue ribs, staff and servers are great! The uniqueness of bonehead barbecue is a definite draw. A must try.

Excellent BBQ! I chose this place because I think the name fits. The food is finger lickin' good! I had the 1/2 BBQ chicken. There was nothing left but the BONES. My husband had the ribs and he loved them,

Good food, service and flies left something to be desired. We were seated on the front porch (indoor). May as well sat outdoor with the amount of flies in the room. The food was good but never had the chance to order another beer or get anything else because the waitress was not back to our table during our entire meal. 1 minus star for service and 0.1 for every fly

Good food great atmosphere, first time in the area direction were great getting to the location, quick service and food came out promptly. Wait staff was polite and informative as to the best choices

I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was just ok. I wish the sauce was on the side like most barbecue places. The coleslaw and house made chips were good. A couple at our table split the combo barbecue plate and still had leftovers. You do get a lot of food, so if you are ok with ho hum barbecue but want quantity, this is the place for you.

Are you looking for that country style dining and the comforts of a home style dinner. Our waitress Sarah is polite and very attentive. She gives you the specials as well as suggestions on what to enjoy for your lunch or dinner. The tables are set like you're in a large country kitchen, similar to Cracker Barrel. The bathrooms are extremely clean, which tells you a lot about the staff there! It's like being at Famous Dave's with the Cracker Barrel style. You will truly enjoy having your lunch or dinner here.

It was hard rating this establishment 3 stars, because I had really high hopes given all the great things I've heard about it. Let's start with the good. Two words: FRIED PICKLES. These were hands down the best I've had. Also good was the service-prompt, polite, and attentive. Now the not so good: Pulled chicken dinner. The BBQ sauce tasted like a store brand in a bottle (or worse). The chicken was dry. The coleslaw was not tasty either. Also, I didn't care for the seasonings on the Cajun fries. The decor needs a desperate face lift. I can't speak for the bar area, but the restaurant area looked like a 1970s kitchen. I will definitely be back for the pickles, and maybe next time will go for the pork!

Oh my gosh Let's talk about bone heads bbq. I live about 40 minutes from this restaurant. But last week on my boyfriends birthday, he wasn't feeling up to going out. I've heard good things from family who's gone to this restaurant but have never been and neither had he. Well we can never find decent bbq and I just said eff it and made the drive all the way out there to grab some carry out for us. I walk in the front door to amazing smells and homie atmosphere. Half bar on one side and half sit down restaurant on the other. Both sides looked up at me and smiled so I already had a pretty good vibe. If this place is THIS packed on a Thursday evening and everyone seems happy, then clearly the staff is doing something right. Anyways, I get the food, drive all the way home (partly knowing it's not gonna be as good because it would probably be cold) but it wasn't! In fact, everything was perfect. I ordered the pulled pork and Mac and cheese. Both hands down are my new favorites. I will def be back but hopefully next time I'll actually be dining in. I also heard it's haunted. Added bonus. Check it out. It's worth it.

Visited last night on the way to the Lincoln Sports Center(wow) to see our grandson play baseball. Probably not a true fair rating because we ordered fish(Lent) at a barbecue place. From the tablecloths to the tables to the decor it lives and breathes old, and old school too. The server was attentive, the food was good. Got my wife to agree to visit again for the ribs, so we will be back, hopefully for an upgrade.

Came here after our friends competition. This was the only real restaurant around and I also saw a Advertisement on a billboard on the way here. I order the bone head bbq combo to try out all there bbq. I was very VERY disappointed it had to be the dries bbq I ever had in my life . Idk if it was leftover bbq from the day before but it was very bad. And this was at 12pm you would think everything is fresh but not at all. My friends all order sandwiches which they say was ok. I always let someone else try some of my food and they even said it was dries brisket they ever had smh. The ribs was also very well done and dry pull pork and chicken also the same way. I eat a lot of bbq and this had to be the worst I ever had. But the service was good

Decided to try out this place for the first time after a co-worker recommended it to me. Came on a Friday night during the halloween week with a few friends. The place was decorated up from the inside out, which was awesome. All the staff were also dressed in costumes as well. Cool! I went straight ahead and started off with two glasses of their drink special "apple puckers" (hot cider and rum). It was a perfect way to warm me up before a big meal to come on a cold night. We went with the fan favorite pickle chips to start. LOVED it. Super crispy and hot. I can see why everyone loves them. For my main dish, I wanted to try everything on their bbq menu, so I went with the combo bbq platter (pulled pork, bbq chicken, beef brisket and ribs) served with collard greens and cornbread. Oh, and I had their clam chowder too since my friend was raving about it. To start, the clam chowder was impressively pretty good. Kinda wished I had a larger bowl, but I had to save some space in my tummy for the main plate. The pulled pork was very good. It seemed to be cooked longer than pulled pork that I have had at other places. The texture was almost like mush. Flavors were there though, very tasty. The beef brisket was decent. It was topped with some pretty good bbq sauce. The bbq chicken was also pretty good, but not extraordinary. The bbq ribs were probably the best meat on the plate. Thought the meat was not fall off the bone tender, I liked the char on it along with the dry rub. Surprisingly, the collard greens were pretty damn delicious. It was not overcooked, so it had a light crunch to it and also a slight mild spicy kick as well. Loved it. Overall, I would say the place has very friendly and accommodating staff, food menu with many many options, decently priced items, good food (with some highlights), and gotta-try-it fried pickles. Will be back again to try some of their other fan favorite items.

BBQ is hard to do. Especially if you think you know how to do it. That being said, you would think a restaurant that's invested in building a brand and even advertising for a billboard off a busy freeway, one would think that you would do BBQ well... This is a restaurant that's tucked away in a place just shy of being country. There is no network connection or Wi-Fi so it means you have the sheer chance of just enjoying your food, but suffice to say, the food is what kills it. The place itself is amazing. Cozy, country, and almost a community vibe to it. The inside is just something that your grandmother decorated but decided it'd be better to have a bar as well. But again, it's the food that kills the whole vibe... I have to critique the brisket because that's what I ate. It's my default. What I go to for anything that calls itself BBQ. The grade and quality of the brisket determines the authenticity of the BBQ place. If the BBQ place has good brisket, then it's a legit place. If the BBQ place has mediocre brisket, then you will get a mediocre rating from me. And brisket has to be the easiest thing to cook. 1 and a half hour per pound of meat smoked over hickory and oak. Fat side up on the flat, rubbed down with a savory dry rub and allowed to cook in a 250 degree heat. The fat renders down and seeps into the meat while the smoke flavor seeps into the meat injecting the oak/hickory flavors creating a char and a smoke ring that leaves the meat tender and moist with no need for BBQ sauce. If brisket is done right, depending on how big your flat and point are, anywhere from 7 to 14 hours of smoking will give you the final product. Unfortunately with Bonehead's, the meat was... dry as can be. No amount of water and BBQ sauce could've saved it. The brisket was dead before it even reached my table. The pitmaster did something horrid to the meat because literally, the tiny chunks of brisket looked drier than the Sahara. SERIOUSLY, each bite of meat sucked the spit from my mouth and the BBQ sauce nor the water could quench the arid condition the brisket left my mouth in. Brisket is supposed to resist a little bit before snapping but it's supposed to glisten with the rendered fat from the flat if cooked properly. I do not recommend this place for the brisket. But that's where the conundrum is. It's a BBQ place. You're supposed to GET brisket at a BBQ place. Anything else is just unConstitutional!!!! Pulled pork, maybe. You could do smoked chicken but, you BBQ for brisket. Low and Slow is the general BBQ motto. And the final product is supposed to be tender, juicy, savory, with a hint of sweetness from the sauce but I never got that. The only saving grace to the whole experience was the garlic loaded mashed potatoes. Topped with bacon, melted cheese, and scallions definitely was the defining moment of the whole plate. At 14.99 for really bad brisket. I wasn't impressed at all. The only other saving grace to my time at Bonehead's was the waitress, Shantel. She was sweet, kind, fun, and just redeemed my time there. I may just go back because she's there because it sure wasn't the food. If you're going east on 94 past the Rawsonville exit and you're looking for BBQ. I recommend you keep going or turn back towards Ann Arbor as you'll find better food there. I don't recommend taking the back roads to get to this place because, well... you'll walk away $18.00 less than what you had because, Bonehead's brisket took that from you and left you high and dry... literally.
