Yelp
I realized recently that I've not reviewed one of my favorite restaurants, Bones Burgers, so I am going to remedy that here now.
I found Bones Burgers in their first iteration as a food truck several years ago. Bones truck stops quickly became appointment dining. Whether I was grabbing lunch at an office park near my job or hanging with friends at a local brewery, Bones was on my radar and I went as often as I could.
Bones went brick and mortar after building a strong and devoted following of burger fans and even had 2 locations at one point.
The reason for that devotion? Great burgers. Bones prides himself on serving local ingredients and delicious grass fed beef. Starting with strong fundamentals is key to a good burger. And Bones has that down.
With quality grass fed beef as a base Bones built a variety of standard burgers with delicious fresh toppings. The basics are all here. Lettuce, tomato, onion. Then things get interesting. Sautéed onions. Grilled jalapeños. Pineapple. Apple. Eggs. Bacon. Homemade ketchup and BBQ sauce.
Choose a quarter, third, or half pound patty then choose from a list of about 15 recommended burgers with a variety of exciting toppings or customize your own burger to your liking. My reco? The Farm Burger. A classic "breakfast burger", this is the gold standard on Bones menu. Egg anyway you want it. Bacon. Pepperjack cheese. Applewood smoked bacon. Get the burger medium well or less or face Bones wrath. (I've had everything from medium to well done and it's always perfect).
The burgers themselves are delicious. Juicy. Tasty. A little sweet. Not a chain burger or a pre pattied grocery store burger. These are obviously fresh and the grass fed makes a real difference in taste and texture. Burgers are properly diapered in wax paper and delivered hot and fresh.
The toppings are high quality and delicious as well.
Sides? Well you got parm fries and sweet potato fries. Just get both. The sweet potato fries are a little spicy but still sweet, tender and cooked perfectly. The parm fries are tossed with parmesan cheese and are a perfect compliment to your burger.
Oh, if there's a special on the board, get it.
I should probably talk about my friend Bones himself. I've known him since his food truck days. He's salty and cantankerous. He's always up to talk to customers in a spirited manner. His personality is part of the experience. I've seen some take him the wrong way, don't. He's making a product he's proud of and delivers each burger with a side of good natured sass. Hell, I I love this place and the dude so much my kid worked there for a bit.
So, tl;dr. Bones Burgers is good. Really good. Certainly one of the top burgers in the city and probably my favorite burger in town. Great entrees, delicious sides, and a bit of attitude from a hard working owner. Go support local. You won't regret it.
