Boneyard Bistro in Sherman Oaks serves up an impressive selection of slow-cooked meats, vibrant bistro fare, and an extensive craft beer lineup in a relaxed atmosphere.
"Even though Boneyard Bistro sounds like a place where you might eat after riding Big Thunder Mountain, this spot on Ventura is one of the most consistent BBQ places in the Valley. It’s also one of the only places in town where the meats are cooked Santa Maria-style, meaning it’s dry-rubbed and grilled over red oak wood. You can’t really go wrong with any cut of meat, but we usually order the baby back ribs plus some fried mac and cheese on the side. If you’re looking for something non-BBQ, they have a solid bistro menu of salads, seafood, and vegan options too. There are also 42 beer taps, so if you’re looking to do some late-night or lunchtime drinking, this is a great place to do it." - brant cox
"There are a handful of TVs in and around the bar, so you can definitely come in to catch a game, but you’ll stay for Boneyard’s BBQ - which is cooked Santa Maria-style (dry-rubbed and grilled over red oak wood). The baby back ribs are our go-to, though they have a solid bistro menu of salads, seafood, and even some vegan options." - kat hong, james montgomery
"If you’ve never ordered from Boneyard Bistro, now is the time to change that - and not just because their BBQ is great. This Sherman Oaks spot also whips up some wholly original cocktails for pick-up and delivery. All cocktails are $45 for a four-person serving, and include the habañero-infused mezcal and rye-based Sympathy For The Devil, the boozy Cactus Cooler (which is like a rethought margarita with prickly pear), and a damn good mai tai. Curbside pick-up and delivery available." - brett keating
"Movie Pairing: Jurassic Park at the Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks The fact that there wasn’t a Boneyard Bistro inside Jurassic Park is a major missed marketing opportunity, but you can make up for it by picking up dinner from this Sherman Oaks spot before heading to the drive-in. Boneyard is about five minutes away from the Westfield Fashion Square, so your baby back ribs, brisket sandwich, and fried mac & cheese will still be hot by the time you park. Pick up some of their house cocktails while you’re there - specifically, the Citrus & Smoke - because you’ll need a little cooldown by the time Jeff Goldblum unbuttons his shirt. Saturday, August 15, 8:30pm. Tickets available here." - brett keating
"The Sherman Oaks neighborhood go-to not only has some of our favorite BBQ in town, they also own a great beer stock. With 42 rotating taps and a reserve bottle list that goes on for eternity, if you aren’t getting buzzed at Boneyard, it’s your own fault. And when the time comes to get some sustenance in this low-key joint, just make sure you go for the Santa Maria beef ribs." - brant cox
