South End institution since 1971 serving ultra‑crisp tavern pies and a beloved cast‑iron “Italian Pie.” Cash only, old‑school vibe, and fiercely loyal regulars. Frequently praised by local writers and highlighted by Thrillist for its enduring recipe.

CASH ONLY! We had a good experience at this restaurant. The pizza was good. Thin and crispy crust. Pretty reasonable pricing as well. It is a cash only spot. For four adults we split the family size and it was more than enough. I recommend sitting in the middle so you don’t hear the loud speakers as much. There were cobwebs around the windows and near the ceiling.

This place is worth a stop, interesting setup off Dixie hwy in Louisville. Order at the counter whike you watch them make dough and labor the ovens and get you card, once they call your 3 of diamonds you scuttle up there and pick up at the counter. Wide selection of beer for a small joint, gobblet is best value and the pitcher is a close 2nd. We went for the Bonnie and Clyde special, kind of a supreme and added extra cheese. Hmm, wonder how this is gonna go... My brother in law and my dad, the 96 year old that complains about everything, both said it was the best pizza they ever had. That aint bad given he's had 96 years to try pizza. I'll say it was different, in a good way. The crisiest crust I've had, crunch crunch crunch, good flavor all around. They've been around allot of years, highly recommend!

Google
3.5/5. I was told this may be best pizza in Louisville so I had to check it out. They do cash only no cards . Place looks like an old bingo hall or something converted to pizza parlor. Very old and vintage feel. If you need a blast from the past walk in here for a pizza . I ordered my pizza and soda and waited maybe 10/15 minutes. Didn’t seem to long . The pizza was good and had great flavor . I don’t know if it’s hands down the best but worth trying. We all like different pizzas so it’s ok if u disagree. I can see why some ppl may like it more due to the tasting of the toppings. I like a good mix of toppings and sauce. I couldn’t really taste the sauce.

Google
We usually order it at work, i haven't been to the restaurant yet, that's why I'm not gonna review the service and the atmosphere, but the pizza is amazing. It is a "cash only" place.

Good crispy pizza! The beer goblet says it all! A good stop over whole waiting for Waverly Hills tour

Google
It was superrrr good! It's my bf's fave place and comes here a lot with his fam. The pizza was delicious and the sandwich was 🤩😍 AMAZING!

Google
This is the best place in the region for pizza! They have many different kinds and are able to make custom pizzas easily. The sauce and dough are homemade and nothing like any other pizza you’ve had before. Drinks are by the pitcher. We had a large group and they let us put quite a few tables together. Only negative is it is cash only!

Google
The pizza is amazing, and the price is beyond fair! We travel from Indianapolis just to get the fantastic pizza they make that the state of IN doesn't have. But the area is definitely a sundown town. We are a lesbian family and we have to make sure we leave way before dark.

Yelp
This is the best pizza that you'll have in Louisville. Thin, crispy crust. Crispy toppings. Delicious. Get a pitcher a beer, or a root beer to finish off your meal. Cash only!

Yelp
Being from NY this the Best pizza ive had in years lol. Couldnt ask for any better ones

Yelp
Byfar the best pizza place around. Rarely ever busy and never disappoints. The restaurant looks skeptical but trust the process you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We love Bonnie & Clyde's pizza. I've been eating there since I was a child. They have a unique crispy crust you don't get anywhere else. It's a little pricier than chain pizza, but the pizza is worth it. They always have coupons in Val pak, so we always look for one before we go. The decor is dated for sure, and they only accept cash, but I would rate their pizza higher than Craft Pizza any day of the week. If you don't like the look of the place, get it to go!

Yelp
This place has been around for forever and not much has changed on the inside. No frills but the pizza is great. The crust is crispy. Cash only.

Yelp
A staple of Dixie Hwy, and for good reason. We dine here weekly, and have never been disappointed. On the contrary, the food is great every time and the service never fails. A double pizza is a good size for two people, with some to spare. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Bonnie & Clyde's has been a pizza place for me for a very long time! My 1st job at 16! lol I know they use fresh ingredients, make their own sausage, pizza sauce & crust plus use fresh vegetables, NOT frozen. This is why their pizza & salad & sandwiches are always awesome. My favorite pizza is pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers & pineapple. It is so good every time I get it! But, yesterday I tried their famous Italian Pie. It is SO huge it takes a long time to cook, so order an hour in advance. Now I know what all the hype was about. It has layers of cheese & all the meats & vegetables and plenty of sauce! It is so huge I could only eat 1 piece so I will be eating it all weekend. It is truly an old time pizza place but you can get carry out or eat there & watch TV. Be prepared & take cash & they get so busy that sometimes they can't answer calls. Call early or go on up there & order it! You won't be disappointed! Here is a picture of the Italian Pie that is so yummy!

Yelp
We ordered pizza the crust was tuff the topping was very good also ordered a cold beer also good cold glass, service was lacking they make your pizza pour your beer or drink but you have to pick it up at the counter or if you want any extra you have to go to the counter, ambience is one television set to a soap no music or sports show. I drove up from Texas don't think I will be coming back. I seen the place on Goodall country kitchen does not look like a crowed pleaser.

Yelp
It's hard to accurately describe this place. It's my favorite pizza place in the city, yet there are so many reasons it shouldn't be. It's 2025 and they still only accept cash, seriously. Cash only, so stopping at the ATM is required on the way there. Their pizzas are expensive, definitely worth the money, but pricey for sure. The only time we go is when we get a coupon in the mail for buy one get a 2nd pizza same size for $3/$6. Without a coupon, 2 Family size pizzas will run you $65 easily. But it's still worth it. The place is old, but clean for the most part, but very old, and some new carpet and paint wouldn't hurt. I swear it's the same carpet from 40 years ago when our Little League baseball team would go there after games. Thers one TV in the whole place, so if your there to watch a game, good luck. So, based on all that, why still 4 stars? Because the food is outstanding, it's one of the best pies in town. Their Italian sausage is worth the trip every time, and all of the other toppings are fresh, not frozen. They've been making the same pizza for over 40 years, they know what they are doing. If you like a lot of sauce and cheese on your pizza, order it that way, because very little of both come on the normal pizza, yet I can eat a whole Double by myself. The atmosphere is great, the people that go there "get it" and we all enjoy our time there regardless of the stuff I already mentioned. You can order beer or soda by the pitcher, neither has free refills, so pace yourself. They also serve tap beer in a glass goblet that weighs 8 pounds empty and I feel like a king each time I order one. It's less that $5 and I'm certain it's at least 32 ounces and no one else is doing that anywhere else. Also, they don't deliver, no online ordering at all, and good luck getting a phone order placed on a busy Friday or Saturday night, it ain't happening. We just went Sunday 3/23 with a large group for a birthday party and got 4 pizzas (with coupon of course) and it was amazing and had 2 goblets of beer and absolutely enjoyed ourselves. You kind of need to be from Dixie Hwy to understand the place itself, but if you like pizza, all you need to know is they are top notch.

Yelp
I've been ordering pizza from this place the 70s. Tonight I got the best pizza I've ever ordered from the place. Not quite a Wick's but still a good pizza

Cameron B.

Yelp
This is really hard for me to write, I have loved Bonnie & Clyde's pizza for over 30 years. But recently in the last year it has became overpriced GARBAGE of a pizza! For one it's dry and the consistency of cardboard with no toppings. I'm not complaining because of one bad order, it has been several orders 5+ over the last 6 months. It $30 for a 2 topping pizza that is Burnt, Dry, no toppings that taste like CRAP!!!! And if you say anything, they tell you it that's what it is. The old man that used to run the place was great but since he's not there and others run it now, most of the time. I'm sorry to leave such a negative review for a place I used to rave about and recommend to everyone. But times have changed and it now time to close this chapter and move on. Best of luck.

Yelp
This is a bar/pizza parlour and I'm assuming all the positive ratings for the pizza were from people who were shitface drunk. The pizza sucked. It was rock hard. Also cash only is really weird in 2024.

Yelp
Great pizza, always has been, nice little spot, def should get am ATM though, better for business if you ask me.

Doug C.

Yelp
It has been over 30 years since I have eaten at B&C and I have to say the pizza was the still cooked the same way. Thin, crispy, cornmeal dusted crust with plenty of toppings and cheese. We had the family size Meat Eaters Special and Bonnie & Clyde Special pies. Big pizzas with big flavor and full of toppings. We had 11 hungry retired Prairie Village/Jessie Stuart High School friends get-together for lunch and had plenty of pizza for us all. Service was great and the inside was neat and clean. Family/locally owned for over 53 years. They must be doing something right to be in business this long. B&C pizza is worth the drive from any part of the city. Cash Only. Order at the counter and self-service on plates and condiments. They even have a version of a deep dish pizza called Italian Pie. It takes a hour to cook but I was told it was worth the wait. Definitely one of the best pizza restaurants in Louisville. Will be returning soon.

Trey H.

Yelp
The pizza is 5 stars good and the service is great but the restaurant is a dump. The bathroom reeks of piss and the restaurant is dirty. Also do not get the steak hoagie. The mushrooms and onions were raw and the steak was terrible. It looked like Salisbury steak but tasted like mop water.

Yelp
Take your pizza it go.. great food, but in desperate need of a remodel. also no free refills of drinks??
google avatar

BradKatie B.

Yelp
Old school pizza dinner. The pizza is delicious, can't go wrong. Blah blah, need 85 characters lol

Kirk H.

Yelp
Love it. Ambience:1972. Pizza is thin and crispy with good cheeses. The Italian Pie is tasty and the crust is delicious, but its too juicy for me. Grease and water pools at the bottom of the cast iron pan, but the crust stays crispy! Housemade italian sausage is great. The Polish Hoagie is a high quality hot dog. Beers are cheap and they have draft beer. It's cash only and there's no ATM onsite.

Donna G.

Yelp
The pizza was great but not really family friendly The outside had beer bottles and cans on the side that needed cleaned up. Definitely an adult vibe.

Virlie F.

Yelp
Old school vibe and great pizza!! Cash only so be prepared. It took about an hour to cook because it's so thick and loaded with topping and a huge amount of cheese!!

Yelp
I have been putting off coming to this place for the longest time, now I finally came, and on National Pizza day. I'm always for supporting local pizza and very glad I came here. It wasn't very busy inside and there was only one large group inside so getting waited on at the counter was a breeze. I got a single pepperoni pizza with a large drink beings there are no refills here. The cost of my order wasn't too overpriced as well. I did have my cash in hand after hearing this place was cash only. This building is very old and the inside was pretty dark. I think this place could use a remodel and lighten the place up. I've also read about the bathrooms here and to avoid them, well you gotta go when you gotta go. The bathroom didn't look the best but there was no overwhelming odor in there. I was given a Solitaire card to indicate my order. Once my order was ready they called out the 9 of Hearts which is the card I had. I didn't have to wait very long for my order either despite a large group that was ahead of me. My wait time was probably around 15 minutes maybe a little less. There is no table service here so you have to get everything yourself for the most part. My pizza came with 3 pepperoncini, which was awesome. My pizza was absolutely delicious and the crust had the right amount crunch. Probably one of the best pizzas I have had in a very long time. Although I enjoyed the pizza this isn't a place I would regularly frequent. But I will be back at some point in time.

Yelp
Bonnie and Clyde's is a Louisville institution. Sure the bathroom is 100 years old and needs updated but the food is delicious and the beer is cold. The signature cornmeal on the bottom is crispy and the homemade sausage and cheese is really hard to beat. Would be 5 stars if they would join us in 2023 and take credit cards but still amazing pizza

Brandy J.

Yelp
Great local pizza place. I've been coming here since I was a kid. The staff were friendly even with a large crowd. The food may take a while but they are busy and it is made fresh so take the time to enjoy conversation with your family. We had a mini cheese pizza, large pepperoni, large sausage, salad, and an Italian pie. The food came out great. The place itself could use some updates and a cosmetic refresh but I think it also adds to the charm of the place. There's a reason they are always busy...

Mark J.

Yelp
Absolute joke. answered and got mad at me for calling. Said very rudely if they don't answer theyre too busy and hung up on me. pizza is good but not good enough to treat customers like that
google avatar

Della T.

Yelp
Always great pizza at this place. Bonnie and Clyde's is a Louisville staple. If you haven't tried this place, you really should. One of my friends recommended the Italian pie so this time we went with that. *Note: If you choose to try this it can take up to an hour to cook, so be prepared. It was worth the wait, crunchy crust and very filling. A small pie was plenty for two of us.

Mickey O.

Yelp
This was my first trip to Bonnie & Clyde's. This is just a down home no frills service yourself family pizza parlor. The pizzas were delicious and the price was right.

Jeremy M.

Yelp
food had a hair in it service was good and I told the lady about the hair and she didn't seem to care so go at your own risk
google avatar

Yelp
Bonnie & Clyde's is what you want from a local pizza joint experience. From the parking lot on to the inside, you know this is not your everywhere chain pizza place. What's special about B&C? Everything! The menu is straightforward, you order at the counter and get your super-sized playing card, take your seat wherever you fit in, and wait to be fed a glorious pie. Part bar feel, part meeting place, and part people watching place, you won't have a problem with the wait with everything inside to keep your attention until your card is called for pickup. The star is the pizza though. The crust is crispy and crunchy, unique from other places. The toppings are plenty and of good quality. Topped with glorious cheese this was one tasty pie and you won't run across this style anywhere else in Louisville or the area. So put your causal attire on and be a local, B&C is your place!
google avatar

Cathy F.

Yelp
Best pizza on Dixie Hwy! The pizza crust is crisp as a cracker with a large amount of toppings and cheese. So unique and delicious! Our favorites are the Special and the Vegetarian Special along with a pitcher or 2 of cold beer. This place is cash only so make sure that you are prepared. You place your order at the register, and they give you a jumbo playing card that they call out when your order is ready. Then you pick it up at the window. Their salads are really good too that come with your choice of pizza toppings. It's a great place to go with family and friends.

Yelp
Bonnie and Clyde's is an old-school pizza place which is apparently a stalwart pizza establishment in Louisville. I'm glad we found this place for a late night dinner as we were driving through the area. So glad they have late hours and even at that late hour, it was awesome to see the crowds. What was the most inspiring part was the owner working at the place and making this all possible for the last 50 years. Not the kind of place that offers a soft touch or finesse of any kind. More of a wham bam attitude that delivers good pizza with no nonsense added. It's cash only. Order at the counter. Find your own table. No drink refills. Boom - take it or leave it. The pizza is like a bit thicker than a Chicago tavern style pizza, but it's very crispy and really good pizza. There are no square cuts going on on this pizza. We all enjoyed it. Definitely have a pizza spot if we're ever in Louisville again.

Marley D.

Yelp
sorry guys dominos, papa johns and pizza hut etc etc. bonnie & clyde's is the best pizza in kentucky
google avatar

Donny W.

Yelp
This place is stuck somewhere in the 70's or 80's. The pizza is freaking amazing. But the real way to go is the Italianpie! Just remember this pizza takes time. Italian pie is about an hour. Which it is a couple inches thick. But a masterpiece takes time. The only down is the cleanliness. But remember it's like going to a time warp. I won't hate on that nostalgia.

Cash G.

Yelp
This is the place that my old friends grandpa bought me my first rootbeer when i was younger. Still buy it for me at home. 10/10 rootbeer

Sophia C.

Yelp
I worked here during covid. I was only there for a few weeks. This place is roach infested or at least it was at the time. I was always scared I would bring them home. The male owner sticks his hands in the salami container and eats out of it throughout the day. The roaches are so bad they would be crawling across the floor while we were making pizzas. The employee "break room" is filled with items from their house. It looks like their having a yard sale back there lol. It's quite gross. I was always offered free pizza when I worked there but never ate it because I was too scared. They don't keep sanitizing buckets or anything.

Jason A.

Yelp
The crust is phenomenal. Has a similar taste Shakey's from back in the day. I will be back!
google avatar

L S.

Yelp
Over 50 years in business so they have a continued customer base who pays CASH only. They are in dire need of some TLC due to some chairs are worn out (one looked like a cat got ahold of it) and if you a bigger person your going to love maneuvering out of the stall since doors open inward and barely clear the potty and then to exit you must do some tricky moves. USUALLY could care less about a bathroom, but you need to know. You order at the counter and they give you a giant playing card and then call over the loud speaker for.you to get your pizza. No refills. Get your own plates and silverware. Wait for your card to be called and get your food. Pizza was crunchy. Sausage is made in house and has fennel in it. Add extra cheese, tad stingy with cheese. Good job for staying true to your roots over 50 years, now time to spruce up a smidgen.
google avatar

Paul E.

Yelp
For the price, this place is amazing. Super crispy crust and loaded with toppings. The sausage is amazing. Good beer too. Always served in a frosty mug.

Heaven R.

Yelp
The pizza here always hits. One of my favorite places to get food for the family, especially on late work nights.

Nate S.

Yelp
Love this place, good pizza, good service, not expensive, and it's a good place to hang out and drink.
google avatar

R G.

Yelp
Best pizza in town. The crust is amazing and the topping are fresh AF. I drive 30 minutes for it. Pro tip - I order it on the way and it's ready by the time I get there.
google avatar

Troy K.

Yelp
Holly Molly this is a great family owned pizza place. Had the meat lovers and it was piled up with toppings. The large salad was big enough for 4 people.
google avatar

Sydney M.

Yelp
Please understand that the outside and even the interior does not do this place justice. I grew up coming to this pizza place and it is just as amazing as I remember it as a kid! We ordered the Italian pie and it was huge. It took right at about an hour to make because it's so thick, but it was definitely worth the wait! They are cash only so make sure you have it! Love that they still do giant playing cards as their table markers too. Definitely worth checking them out. Five stars for the food, don't expect a fancy interior.
google avatar

Ted K.

Yelp
I've seen cockroaches in there. Don't believe me? Read reviews from Google, Yellow Pages and Trip Advisor. Different years and reviews have reported seeing the same.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
This pizza place has been part of my life since I was a child growing up in this part of town. I love it and have missed it since I moved away 16 years ago. Every time I'm back in town, I make a point to eat here at least once while I'm home. That likely came to an end this past weekend. I guess I knew in the back of my mind they were there, and I've seen other reviews saying so, but after this recent visit roaches have been confirmed. They bring in stacks and stacks of cash. Clean the place, update the disgusting bathrooms, buy all new chairs and hire a pest control company!!
google avatar

Travis K.

Yelp
Great service, great food, cash only! I normally call ahead for my order. Never have had an issue.
google avatar

Erica Z.

Yelp
I have been here probably 4 or 5 times. And I'm reallY not sure why people like their pizza so much. It took us forever to get 2 family size pizzas on a Monday night. My Group had 7 people and there were maybe 4 other smaLl families there. We waited close to 30-45 minutes for pizza. We got one sausage and one supreme. The toppings were good but wouldn't stay on the pizza. It was like it didn't have enough cheese. As soon as you piCked up a slice it all slid off. I love the crust and aMount of sauce. Just hated how long it took and the toppings falling off. Also they DO NOT take credit/debt cards. We did not know this. Thankfully someone in our group had cash.
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I'm not sure how this establishment is a favorite in the south end. My boyfriend, daughter and myself walked in and there was no one there. This was our first time here so we weren't familiar with how things worked. We walked up to the window to order and were treated like we were an inconvenience. It was very off putting that we were treated so horribly. When we finally got our food which took forever for us to be the only people there, our pizza was burnt on the bottom. We will never come back! There are so many other pizza options in Louisville to settle. I would give this zero stars but I can't
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
When traveling I look to Yelp for suggestions. Found this pizza place while coming up 31W and while old - the pizza was crispy and delicious. Really enjoyed it. Just note it is cash only - no cards.
google avatar

Julie O.

Yelp
Food is good CASH only. My beer isn't cold though and a little pricey at $3.50. Kind of dumpy. What am I saying. It's dumpy. But the pizza is always delicious.
