Came here for coffee and something to eat. I had decaf latte with maple syrup and it was one of the best coffee cups I ever had. For eats I had a panini (not sure which one, it was the barista's recommendation) and it was really good. We were sitting inside, it was warm and cozy, quiet with some music in the background. Great spot with friendly staff.

Google
Such a cute and cozy coffee shop with a great atmosphere! It has an artsy, creative vibe that makes it a comfortable spot to relax. The coffee is excellent—smooth and flavorful—and the panini is really good too. The cashier was super friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Small, cozy, and full of good vibes—definitely worth a stop!

The Boogie down is something you need to experience yourself it’s south Bronx as only the south can be ! You always leave with a warm heart and a smile

Google
You definitely should check this coffee shop out. I got the “ cross Bronx cortado” and the “cheddar bay biscuit.” Both were excellent. Very cool place celebrating how awesome the Bronx is.

Google
Stopped by this little trendy shop and it was pretty awesome for its size, plus they have 2 outdoor seating areas. I had the wings they were cool for 5 bucks! They also serve alcohol, and the staff is super friendly... looking for a chill vibe hangout spot that won't break the bank in SOBO, COME HERE! 😁

Google
Wow, this localy owned place is the definition of community love and a safe place for all offering amazing coffee and fresh pastries ( croissants are delicious) and other food options ( must try their breakfast sandwich $5ish) omelettes, waffles and so on . They also have summer frozen cocktails. The prices are lower than other places around NYC and very affordable! On top of being a cafe they hold poetry nights open to local artists to express themselves and share their art, have local vendors sell their products and just a safe space for the community. We kept coming back for our coffee fix and some breakfast bite. I highly recommend this place!!

Google
Great coffee joint in Hunts Point ! Lots of espresso drink options . I had a cheddar scone and a tumeric anti- inflammatory latte. The staff was so super friendly and I love the urban vibe and decor. A must try for anyone who loves the Bronx and loves coffee.

Google
Nice atmosphere, good coffee great barista. Very nice decor. 5 star definitelly. Negatives: very expensive , bad neighborhood, wrong music style. Cant wait to go again tho

Yelp
Unbelievable. Great ambiance inside, good music, service was fast and polite. I had a mocha latte and a waffle. That MIGHT HAVE been the best waffle I've ever had im not 100% though. Definitely going to be stopping by this place more often. Diamond in the rough.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times and enjoyed my coffee and food. There are verrrrry few good coffee spots in the Bronx, which makes trying to patronize this business especially annoying. The last 3 times I've tried to stop in they've been closed and the number I am calling, attached to the business, picks up the phone and continues to hang up on me. For this reason along with inconsistent biz hrs, I will not be returning.
google avatar

Tracey L.

Yelp
The service is fantastic, the outdoor seating area resembles a train car. Live bands and singer performer most Friday night during the summer. The only down side inside is very small.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in this little gem in the BX. I had a delicious latte w/ hazelnut syrup and a shot of espresso. I walk in and it was the usual heavily decorated Boogie Down decor. A few ppl getting their caffeine fix while buried in their laptops. This was a total of a 5 min trip as my Uber was waiting outside for me. Before leaving I noticed the owner wrote a book and decided to show my support with that as well. I can't wait to read it. I do wish there was a grub hub option for delivery, but maybe it's for the best because this place would get all my money

Yelp
A friend of mine invited me to a live event that was happening. It was my first time showing up at the cafe, but I have seen it before. At the time that I went, there was a live DJ outside and about 2-3 entrepreneurs selling their beautiful craft. They had outdoor seating and indoor (the inside is small, but a lot of history around the walls). I had the chance to chat with the owner for a little and thanked her for having this cafe in the Bronx (my home). I also bought a hat (it was slightly expensive), but anything to support my borough !

Yelp
A much-needed coffee shop in the South Bronx! The Boogie Down Grind is petite in size, but its coffee, drink, and food options pack a punch. The aesthetics of the shop make you feel cozy, and at home; I'd recommend this place for a WFH day. They also do open mic nights, adding another amenity to the business. You can also host an event here like a book launch, art exhibits, team party, and more. If you're around the Hunts Point area and love coffee, make a stop here, and support a local business :)

Yelp
Amazing decor and atmosphere Beautiful small Cafe, I had an awesome experience with this place! Is clean, food is delish, friendly staff/owner very attentive. My favorite drink was the Sexy passion not too sweet very balanced in alcohol the other alcoholic beverages were okay. Now very unique design cool a place to hangout with family/friends or for a quick bite; the neighborhood is not the best but I didn't felt unsafe! Definitely I do recommend based on my personal experience. I didn't have time to buy a coffee from them but yes in my next visit
google avatar

Meli B.

Yelp
Come here. It's delicious. It's chill. The coffee is amazing and the staff is lovely. There's a DJ playing on and off and alcoholic drinks as well. So you really have everything you need RIGHT HEREEE!

Yelp
I wanted my 100th review to be SPECIAL! What can I say this place is SPECIAL. I've been meaning to right this review forever. James and Majora are something special! This place is like my CHEERS, I walk in and everybody knows my name! From The events they give, to the community work they do and let's not forget the tastiest coffee in the day and sangria at night you've ever had! This place is HOME! Support support support! They care! I once saw Majora offer a customer a banana after one too many sangrias. Now you tell me a place that cares for you like thAt! They have built community in this neighborhood and they aren't going anywhere! Other coffee shops in the Bronx better watch out, this is an EXPERIENCE they dnt just serve lattes! And I'm gonna continue to bring the TEMPERATURE to the place that helped me get to where I'm going! BUILD COMMUNITY IN YOUR COMMUNITY PERIOD! I love it here.

Yelp
Best coffee in the BX with chill vibes. Poetry night brings the community out for a great, creative night

Yelp
Nice quaint spot tucked away in Hunts Point. Very nice vibe. Decor is very Bronx which I love!! Very community feel. Ordered the PUNini which was delicious and hot!! Ordered a giant chocolate chip cookie and a teddy bear cookie which were both delicious!! Enjoy the lemonade!! Worth a drop in if you are in the neighborhood

Yelp
I have been following this places IG account for months. It is all I expected when I entered! First, it is in the neighborhood of my childhood, Hunts Points in the Bronx. The cafe has a window you can't miss,The Boogie Down Grind Cafe. When I entered I was so happy to see the art on the walls. The cute bar stools facing the outside. The small tables and the knick knacks all over. The barista was nice and engaing when I tols her I grew up in the area and would have nevwr imagined a cafe such as this in the neighborhood. She helped me choose my drink because I wanted them all. Cappuccino with pumpkin spice flavors and a beautiful leaf poured! You get a drink card and a smile along with the amazing tasting coffee. They also serve croissants & pastries. Take a trip to the Boogie Down Bronx and hae a coffee at The Boogie Down Grind Cafe!

Yelp
Boogie Down Grind Cafe is where it's at!! This local venue is very hip and trendy. Right on target with the culture of The Bronx. Creative and innovative. Foods and snacks are always great and fresh. They sell all types of drinks though the name may make you fixate on just coffee. Besides a great cup of Joe you can also grab bubble tea, a caramel frappe, an mixed drink such as an apple martini or the special of the month. The atmosphere is cozy and small but it feels safe which is weird considering the pandemic. The staff is pleasant and hard working. One of the cashiers doubles as a DJ for their saturday night event Uptown Melody. Uptown Melody is a free event held most Saturdays in which the venue showcases artists who sing, rap, write and create. Actual art on showcase as well. They have a small setup outside which resembles a cart of the 6 train. I have to say that it is dope to see them keeping in trend with the BX swag. The owners are very nice, good vibes all around. I would definitely recommend you trying this place out for a quick bite and drink or joining them on a Saturday to get you jam on for free!

Yelp
GOAL Espresso Cortado (hemp milk) -Toasty, Buttered bread, Semi Sweet, Smooth, Sea Salt Chocolate , Semi acidic SERVICE - friendly, chill, supportive REFLECTING - Goal: i wanted to further my espresso palette beyond an americano & cappuccino. The barista recommended the cortado. - Pro: I was surprised to find out that I enjoyed it very much. It was small, concentrated but tolerable. I didn't need to force it down or convince myself that it tasted good because it did. - Con: not like a cup of coffee in the form of body and sensation. I missed the feeling of weight and water volume found in a full cup of hot coffee. The cortado was perfect but felt more like a shot of creamy syrup. NEXT STEPS - I look forward to expanding my espresso palette with trying more cortado's and maybe even macchiato's. I also want to learn how time the appropriate moments for a cortado vs a cup of black coffee. The cortado was very good and gave me everything I hoped for except satiety that I get normally get from a full cup of black coffee. I felt short handed in a way because the coffee ride was shorter than I expected. "Cortado" (Corto for short) does translate to "cut short" in latin so I shouldn't complain.

Yelp
BX has it all figured out. I'm so hyped with Boogie Down Grind Café's uniqueness. I'm getting chills with excitement and getting emotional, all at once- when small businesses, open from the ground up- right here, in these special parts of The Bronx. To make note, Hunts Point was the scene for madness back in the day- yet, thrived- after many decades. The standout offering here is obviously their coffee- soups and paninis, second. Decided on a Cheddar Cheese & Scallion Scone for Mumsy- which she loved. Boogie Down is also full of other Hot and Cold beverage options such as regular or flavor Teas and Chai. Chai Latte was nice! By the way, they go by their "better than Starbucks" motto and if I were still a coffee drinker, I would take them up on it. Service was great, but have to give Ashanti (apologies for misspelling) a shout-out for delivering Boogie Down Grind's message loud and clear- as well as its owners. No doubt, there are still sections of The Bronx that need more attention than others, but unlike the other 4 boroughs, BX has all those delicate and rough layers that make this borough, distinctive and so powerful. And the addition of Boogie Down, magnified this area to another stratosphere; but with joke aside, their mission and location, is what probably garnered my love of this Café initially. What an awesome and mind blowing business decision to have Boogie Down- here.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place in hopes of looking for a clean quiet hip cafe in the Bronx to get some work done . It's located right on the corner and can't miss it . It has a nice open front with beautiful lighting . The decor is so cute . It gives us the native Boogie down Bronx vibe ! The staff was very nice. I had a turkey and cheese panini . It was very delicious. Toasted to perfection. To drink, I originally ordered an almond milk caramel latte, however they do not carry almond milk. The cashier insisted on oat milk, so I gave it a go. I think I found my new favorite espresso drink! The oat milk and the caramel and the espresso combined was EVERYTHING! I'm glad I came across this place , I'll definitely be visiting again while I'm in the Bronx

Yelp
A complete vibe! This Black owned cafe/bar/entertainment venue, is a cornerstone of the Hunts Point community. The coffee is superb and very varied. The music and staff are A-1! The decor and ambiance are the definition of authentic Bronx Hip-Hop culture. Super clean and well managed! The spot is a true gem! Please support

Yelp
This cafe is great. The coffee is on point & affordable--I ordered a cortado, and it hit the caffeinated spot. I also appreciate a cafe that is community run & led, which is what the BDGC is. First, when you walk in, there are lots of throwbacks to South BX culture and items for sale made by creatives in the BX. There's also lil touches like a book exchange, which I am hoping to hit up later on, haha. There's also ample seating to stay and enjoy your coffee and stay for awhile--whether it's to get some work done or catch up with friends. The staff is great and accommodating--and turning out top notch coffee. Glad to live so close to this spot.

Yelp
Found this charming little coffee shop, as I looked for refuge for a few minutes, to allow the rain to fade before visiting a client. Let me just say that the mocha I ordered was one of the best I ever had! And they have a repeat customer incentive punch card; something many don't offer, and people want. Have to admit, having the soundtrack to one of my fav movies (Strawberry Field) playing in the background was the best! Next time in the Bronx, I'll be stopping by for a refresher!

Yelp
Love this spot. Decent happy hour for beer and wine. Clean. Quite a "hipster" and unique lounge in the neighborhood. It's become m go to spot with coworkers after work

Yelp
Came in here very early to catch up on some work and met Roddy , James ( co-owner), and Carmen - delightful! We enjoyed some amusing banter and then I had a dirty hemp chai and a sandwich .. Go for the food , stay for the staff !!

Yelp
Coffee is on point! Prices are reasonable. But best part is having a small cozy place to sit and relax while sipping on some good coffee. Really happy this place exists in this part of town.

Yelp
A coffee shop in the South Bronx? Whoa. A Bronx native myself, I was surprised to see such an awesome coffee shopnear Hunts Point. I couldn't help but check it out. This is not just a coffee shop serving Birch coffee, this is a coffee shop brouhght to you by StartUp Box, a small nonprofit set out to convince tech companies to stop outsourcing all of their tech jobs and keep some here in the South Bronx; an impressive feat indeed. It aims to hire local Bronx natives who have an interest in computer programming or similar jobs. What they found was that a considerable amount of people who were overqualified sought to work with StartUp. Due to racial discrimination in the workforce they were unable to find full-time jobs in the industry. James explained this all to me with a contagious enthusiasm and an obvious passion for the program's goals and positive impact on the community. Majora, one of the owners of this shop, is a Bronx native and still lives in the neighborhood. So when you ask yourself in horror (as I did): does this mean the gentrification of the South Bronx? Think again. She aims to create a community space in which people can mingle, a place that generates discussion, all while sipping an espresso. Ladies and gents, this is not gentrification... this is Bronx natives taking over the Bronx, in the most beautiful way. Unfortunately, this does not stop gentrification or from outsiders who seek to create an extension of Manhattan, from taking over... and from calling the South Bronx "So Bro." On behalf of all South Bronx natives, PLEASE do not call the South Bronx "So Bro" for it is quite offensive not to mention corny as hell. This coffee shop is more than a coffee shop, in the best way possible, and it's obvious as soon as you walk in.

Yelp
I came here as I've had this place bookmarked for a while, and it did not disappoint. This is an amazing coffee shop (and full of community) in the heart of the South Bronx. It's a very short walk from the Hunts Point stop and is right on the corner, so very easy to find. The coffee shop itself has tons of character (lots of great Bronx photos of the area adorning the walls, Christmas lights and neon signs). There are big windows that let in lots of light and there is a nice seating area in the front with pillows and is very comfortable. There are also bar stools towards the back of the shop to sit at and enjoy your coffee/tea. They have a library of books and magazines you can read, free WiFi and a very clean bathroom. The staff and owner are super friendly, and you can tell really care about their business and the community. I would absolutely come back here again! Please support this small business in the Bronx!

Yelp
Saw signs all over my cousin's neighborhood for The Boogie Down Grind. Stopped in and everything became very chill. It is a very relaxing environment where you can read, work or just sip some tea and people watch! I enjoyed the banana chocolate muffin and peppermint tea. This will be a regular stop for me when ever I am in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Thanks!! As a Bronx native I'm happy to see something like this pop up in the south Bronx. Great beverages and cozy environment that pays homage to hip hop culture. I had the Grand Master Frappe. It was soooo good. There is so much to look at while you are here. Great artwork and just an awesome, edgy ambiance. My favorite thing is the bookshelf filled with a variety of books to choose from. There is a sign that encourages patrons to grab a book. Hella dope. I love this cafe and what they are doing to add to the community. My only wish is that they were open later.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Nice atmosphere. All filling and affordable. The service is also top notch. You are in for a treat!

Yelp
I am happy to see a local, non-Starbucks coffee shop in the Bronx, especially in Hunts Point. It's a small intimate space with a lending library of books. Definitely a nice surprise.

Yelp
My favorite place to be. Such a community oriented cafe. They have a bomb bacon egg and cheese on waffle. The baristas are friendly and the owner is a amazing and cares about the community.

Yelp
The Boogie Down Grind is where it's at.!! The staff .. The atmosphere .. The music .. N my favorite drink ! The Boogie Down Dirty Chi. The culture of the community is definitely alive n kicking . I love this place for the simple reason that celebrate and promote local artist . Every month they have a display on a new up and coming artist. N u are able to purchase their works or just show them support by promoting them on ig .. This cozy place is definitely a gem!!! The Bronx is back.

Yelp
I love this place!!! They have a great urban ambiance. Staff very cordial. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Finally made my way to try their coffee. Omg! It was the best coffee I ever had. I was going for my usual alternative milk choices when I was asked if I had ever tried oat milk. I was given a sample of the milk and said ok let's try it with my coffee. Best decision ever! I have been dreaming of going back ever since. Next I want to try the hemp milk with my coffee. This place is a true gem. So glad they are in the Bronx.

Yelp
My friend and I came here after a photo shoot last Saturday. We were looking for a place nearby where we could relax and have a cold drink from being out in the scorching sun for several hours! We came here and we were greeted by the barista. There were a few customers in the shop lounging and sipping on their drinks. The space itself is small but very charming. There are a lot of artwork on the walls and I personally fell in love with the light fixture that hangs over the cash register. There's also an antique French Press in the corner of the shop that the barista gave us a little history on. My friend was interested in ordering an Arnold Palmer but the barista convinced him to order a Pink Lemonade instead. I think he was running low on iced tea if I'm not mistaken. My friend gave in and ordered a large Pink Lemonade and boy, was it HUGE! Grand total: $2.50!!! Yes, you read correctly! I tried some of his and it was nice and tart, the perfect drink to cool yourself down with. I ordered a large iced chai. I wanted to have it made with almond milk but the barista informed me that they were out. Instead of blantantly saying "No, we don't have any," he offered alternatives I could have instead such as oat, hemp or soy milk. I was curious about oat milk and he offered me a sample of it. Talk about customer service! The oat milk was better than I expected so I decided to give it a whirl! I got a large iced chai with oat milk and it was GOOD. I didn't need to add any additonal sugar or anything. It was perfectly balanced and the oat milk was a refreshing new addition that I wouldn't have imagined before my visit that day. My iced chai was $4 which in comparison to the cafes in Manhattan or Brooklyn is way cheaper and I ordered a large (keep that in mind!)! Overall, the quality of both the drinks we ordered and the service was superb. Every time I've come here, I've always had a pleasant experience. It is a bit of the way for me to get to from where I live in the Bronx but I don't mind traveling over here because I know that what I am getting is quality and I am supporting a local business which I love to do! If they ever have plans to expand, I hope that they will consider creating a location in the North Central part of the Bronx. A cafe like this would thrive there!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Super cute cafe with amazing coffee!! I had the cappuccino and my husband had a red eye. Both were exceptional-- the beans are roasted to perfection. Really really delicious. I'd skip the avocado toast and stick to coffee and a baked good. The ambiance is cool-- the music and artwork are fire. It's small but a great place to come and chill.
google avatar

Samantha T.

Yelp
LOVE this Bronx cafe! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The menu offers a variety of drinks but only small food options. Everything is well priced and a cute spot to sit and grab a drink. Loved their tea and some of the best lemonade.

Cl P.

Yelp
I don't have enough words to explain have fond I am of this place. I haven't lived in the Bronx in over 10 years. I try to get back my old neighborhood whenever I can. I'm also a serious Hip Hop head which sparked my interest to visit. I was very pleased. 1. The coffee & food is great. The only downside is trying not to consume too much. 2. The ambiance is nostalgic, artful, and educational. 3. This place is most comfortable. It feels like a living room. 4. Staff. Great staff. Very welcoming, and down to earth. The customers walk in and the conversations are natural like a family atmosphere. 5. They recognize and pay homage to our culture of Hip Hop. Most of all the Bronx needs this place. I remember nothing was in Hunts Point except the Point. This is what's needed. I will visit every time I'm back in the Bronx.

Michael T.

Yelp
Best coffee shop in the Bronx. Good coffee, tea, and vibes. I have been here a few times now and it has never disappointed. The coffee is good. They have a variety of dairy free alternatives including, soy, almond, and oat milks. The tea is also good and high quality. The food options are limited but they have everything you could want in a coffee shop. They have pastries, donuts, and some hot paninis. They also serve alcohol and have a very cheap happy hour.
google avatar

Gece C.

Yelp
I love this place . I only come in once a week cause I don't live or work in the area . The staff is always so friendly . The environment is calm and peaceful. Many ppl don't know about this place . But check it out .
google avatar

Yelp
I love this cafe! They have a variety of tea options, which I really like because I am a tea drinker at heart. Also they have delicious pastries and paninis! This over any dunkin donuts in the area. The staff are extremely passionate about their work and the community as well. I had a wonderful chat with Junior, who is simply amazing! I highly recommend!
google avatar

Leana D.

Yelp
Boogie Down Grind Café is a beautiful, cozy space, with wonderful hot and iced tea (my husband loves the coffee too, but I'm a tea drinker) and pastries, and friendly staff. We're beyond happy to live a block away from this Bronx gem and plan to be there every single day!

Yelp
Great place to go after Sunday mass with a loved one(s). yummy hot and cold beverages with paninis and pastry Delights the hostess behind the counter is quite Pleasant and accommodating. Will make this a return spot. good first experience. A little pricey for this area but still thankful for a place of this caliber in the hood. #theboogiedowngrindcafe #thebronx

Yelp
I may have come in after they were closing or possibly 2 minutes before. Never before was I greeted with a warm, sincere hello. I mean, ever; from any establishment. I enjoyed the vibes so much in there. It's a great place to hang out and chat. The coffee was nice. What I also appreciated was the vendor items there! Did I get a pair of crystal earrings? Yes.
google avatar

Lidia D.

Yelp
Such a warm and comfortable feeling from the moment you walk in through the doors. I love the art that is up for sale and most of all the vibrant colors that make me feel at home and never want to leave. I look forward to more businesses like these open up in the area
google avatar

Julissa A.

Yelp
My coffee and sandwich were both tasty, and the staff members were super nice and attentive. It's nice to have a spot with ambiance that isn't overpriced! I cannot stand when neighborhoods get cool spots that the natives cannot afford--this is NOT* the case at Boogie Down! Thank you for giving us a place to chill w/ good food, good coffee, and good vibes!
google avatar

Arashinder D.

Yelp
Good coffee but the sandwiches aren't good at all. The vegan sandwich just had boiled spinach with a layer of chickpea spread. Very unpleasant to the palate. Menu is way too short.. Do not recommend this place if you are hungry.
google avatar

Tashalee C.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Several months later after discovering this gem and I am proud to say, they still got it. The ambience is great. The people who work there are all really wonderful people. And the owner, she is probably one of the coolest people on the planet. I camp out here at least 2 or 3 times a week since I work remotely. The quality of the food stays consistently good. The drinks appeal to me since they have the offbeat ones I find downtown. I'm so happy that I have a cafe like this walking distance. The community truly needed it
