I've only heard of this place, but never went until we had my sister's bach party here. We got a booth (which was pretty expensive imo). There were surprisingly a lot of people here. Age range was kind of all over, but I'd say 30s/40s crowd when I went. $10 cover. There are two different spaces in the bar, one being the main bar in the front that is a nice typical bar with the lights on. The other down the hall and in the back. This had the light up dance floor, which was cool. My only gripe was the DJ. He played for himself and not the people. I asked if he could do a shout-out for my sister, and he literally responded, "No, I don't do shout-outs." Like wtf, 1) that's incredibly rude, 2) I've never been to a bar that doesn't do shout outs. We legit had a group of 30, paid $200 for a booth, and the DJ couldn't take 2 seconds to give a shout out? Then he wouldn't play any requests. He needs a rude awakening that his job is for the customers, and they should be his main priority, not what he wants. A good DJ knows this.

Google
Spacious club, music selection is "ok" a few hits, but could be better. Drink prices are terrible! $8 for a bottle drink, no drink menu and couldn't make anything we asked for. Scrolling my phone for drink ideas is not how I want to spend my night... Not paying $9 to mix rum and pineapple when I can make a better drink at home... I expect a place that charges $10 for a cover would have a more upscale experience. Has "potential". Get rid of the cover charge, this place isn't busy at all... Have some drink specials with an actual drink menu. Get some better music and take song requests.

Bekah Carnes

Google
The bartenders are amazing there. I didn't get the name of the lady that helped us at the beginning of the night but she was fantastic. At the end of the night, Jason took over and he was great as well! Super welcoming and quick even though it was busy! They would be the reason we'd come back again and again. music selection is "ok" a few hits, but could be better. I wish we could put in requests.

Robert Jackson

Google
This place is a joke. Arrived just before 10pm, the music was already so loud that you couldn't hear to pay the cover charge. There are speakers everywhere, which wouldn't be a problem if the music was played at a distinguishable level. When you could hear the music, which wasn't often, the mixes and transitions between tracks was horrible. It would have been better if they completely cut the music and restarted with the new song each time. The bartenders couldn't even make a basic cocktail without looking it up. Even then they didn't have the ingredients to do so correctly. On top of that, they'll charge you $20! So unless you're prepared to drink exclusively from a can or bottle, don't expect much. I guarantee that I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. There are plenty of other better equipped/cheaper, options within walking distance!

t

Google
The music is terrible. They need to bring back disco or they need to bring back disco night at least. I was there this weekend and the music was so bad I left. It doesn't have to be disco but the music has to make you want to dance.

Haylie Clawson

Google
Definitely has fallen off a little bit. Still fun place to go in ferndale but the music is not great. Definitely everyone needs to experience it though. Wish they would have more real disco nights.

Andrew Keith

Google
Nope. Got cut off on my friends birthday for no real reason. I know I willl make My life work recommending everyone that I know not to try this place. Zero stars, and the bigotry, zero chance for any stars in the future. Will regularly update with a bad rating.

Chris Dietrich

Google
Whole place started to flood, coat check girl called out so everyone had to hold the jackets that they brought. Then some Goober in a soccer jersey accused one of my group of puking which is not true all of us were together the entire time we would have seen if they had. So it seems like security can paid off for the right price. overall not a great experience.

Yelp
Came to write a review about the New Years Party and was surprised there are so many bad reviews... ignore all of them. If you hate this place, you clearly just hate fun and shouldn't bother going out at all. This was our second year at the Decades New Years Party. They are always well staffed - the bartenders are so kind and they HUSTLE... the bouncers do a great job of staying on top of any situations that arise and even being very fair/kind about dealing with issues. Someone in our group was kicked out, deservingly so, but the bouncers remained calm and stern, they never got aggressive. Even when the place is packed, you can find quieter nooks to catch your break, in the large hallway areas or the front bar. The DJ lets songs play a little too long sometimes BUT did a great job picking the best hits from each decade. Their New Years decor was whimsical and decadent in the best way possible. I wish they did the champagne toast again this year though, we loved that little detail last year!!! It's a place where people from all walks of life seem to congregate with a common goal of having a good time - we always seem to make friends near us!

Desirae M.

Yelp
The music was outdated, I love me a good throw back but it wasn't the good throw backs that you could dance and have a good time to.. also a mixed drink is cheaper than a shot? My friend god a lemon drop mixed drink for $8.50 and I got a lemon drop shot for $10.30??? Make that make sense? Our group stayed for maybe a half hour. If you're looking for a good time in the area go to tequila blue.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Highly recommend reserving a booth! It was nice to have a place to put our stuff, or just sit and take a breather from dancing and the crowd. The light up dance floor was nice but such a hazard! I'm surprised they haven't considered a shorter one. I saw multiple people tripping/stumbling off, including one individual having a great time, but took a step back down the raised dance floor while her other leg flew up in the air and she gave everyone an unplanned show. I was also surprised at how small the dance floor was so everyone tried crowding around it, pushing their way at a chance to get up there. I was definitely in the middle of few times, having a great time, but crowded AF. The best part about Boogie Fever is the huge fans/AC blasting and it felt GREAT!!! So you don't feel that sweaty, hair-sticking-to-your-face feeling at a club. Security was pleasant. Bartenders were okay.

Nicole G.

Yelp
I loved it here!! I came with a group of friends and I enjoyed all the music they played! So many great throwbacks :D the drinks were also pretty good. We had some lemon drops and I though they were tasty. The bathroom was also pretty clean which was nice and there is a lot of space to dance with a group!

Summerville T.

Yelp
if I could give 0 starts I would, came here for a party Saturday night. my friend and I had left around midnight I left my phone so we had to go back in. one security guard let us through but before I could get to the club 2 security guards dragged me by my arms, and put me out. Literal ASSAULT I have never been treated this way. i will never recommend this place to anyone... plus the music was terrible. I was told the owner is also the Dj So that's says everything I see to know please DO NOT COME HERE

Brittany H.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday night/Thanksgiving Eve. It was $20 admission at the door, but $10 online (but the online tickets were sold out). The front bar was pretty empty until about 10/10:30, but the bar in the back was filled to the max. -Two bartenders serving 100+ people. One bartender counted on his fingers the price of each drink and charged a double Jameson drink $15 but only had one shot of Jameson in it. The cheapest bottle of beer (Bud Light) was $7. The other bartender charged cheaper drinks, but used the computer for accurate prices. -The music was 70s-pop hits. The crowd was mostly 20s, but had some older. -The booth was $230(?) and fit 10 people but a random couple continuously tried to sit in the booth, making out and laying down, before being kicked out by our party twice. Not a bad bar, but overpriced on drinks and too expensive for a woman to want to pay at the front door. Probably wouldn't come back unless it was for an event.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
I truly cant complain everyone here is so darn friendly and nice!!!! Everyone was complimenting my shoes and outfit... it wasnt like other clubs where you get bumped into and they dont say sorry... my reason for 4 stars not 5 is well im sorry to say this but he is not good at all!!! I am a generous tipper, i always jave been so I went up to request 70s, and 80's and 90's hits... Because quite frankly... dose Britney Spears, Justin Bieber.... OR TAYLOR SWIFT COME TO MIND... NO!!! YO DJ. You were happy to pocket my cash but didnt play one song i requested!!! Think 70,s 80s, early 90's David Bowie, Billy Idol, Ramones, Queen, and much more . . . Other than that it was fun.

Ariana S.

Yelp
Fun place for a night out! Went here to celebrate my friend's birthday and it was a good time out. They have two bars, one when you first enter and then one in the back by the dance floor. Great ambience, awesome light up dance floor. They play tons of classic songs from the 80's-early 2000's with a few newer hits sprinkled in. Normally they charge $10 for cover to get in, for special events/days it's $20. Well worth coming here at least once for the experience. *Only con is the amount of older men that come here solo just to lurk in the corners.

Kaela K.

Yelp
The only bar I've ever been to to ever charge money for water. $3 for water. Not that that's groundbreaking to the wallet but it seems irresponsible - do better.

Nicole E.

Yelp
Long before Boogie became a cougar hang out, it was actually a really fun place to go dancing with friends. I've been here so many times for girls nights out as well as bachelorette parties over the years. It seems to be a favorite stop for bachelor parties in the fancy limo, right? There's lots of good memories dancing around this place over the years and decades. So many laughable memories. This is a good place to make memories that you either want to remember or forget. ;)

Paul J.

Yelp
Place is terrible, everyone working is rude and very seedy. I had lulu kakis on, and they said they didn't pass their dress code and that you are required to wear pants (although lulu kakis are in fact pants). Lastly, the drinks taste awful and are very expensive. Literally go anywhere else!

Sarah P.

Yelp
PEOPLE ARE GETTING ROOFIED AT THIS BAR PLEASE DONT COME HERE!!!! The staff is doing nothing about it, in fact it's possible that a bartender is doing the drugging. My friend was roofied (confirmed by hospital drug tests) her drink went straight from the bartender and drank immediately after. Please please do not ever come here!!!!

Lisa R.

Yelp
This place is ridiculous with their drinks. I've never paid $12 for a shot, not even the fancy places in Birmingham. I definitely won't be returning. P.S They don't have straws. YUCK!

Mina M.

Yelp
We had a great night here! My favorite part was all the lights! The light up dance floor and disco ball were great. I was expecting the club to be extremely hot but they have heavy duty fans running the entire night! I didn't sweat at all which kept me dancing the whole night. The only downside was that there were WAY too many people in there. So crowded that when I walked in, I couldn't get from one side of the bar to meet my squad at the other side. Complete traffic jam, which not only means you can't walk, but people are pushing around to get through the crowd and spilling drinks everywhere. They also played some 80s music but it was mixed into more house music, and I wish they played straight up 70s-80s tunes. Overall great time, and will be back.

Kevin D.

Yelp
first time there with a party bus and got kick out for accidentally spilling a drink. I find that funny and pathetic. only an hour or less and we all got kicked out for a drink. I'd love to spea with a manger 100 percent yall. Only one drink and you all lost respect...

Violet M.

Yelp
Definitely not a good enough DJ to be that rude. This is the second time the DJ has been unnecessarily rude and offensive. Seems to be a regular there, so I will have to start avoiding Boogie Fever.

Lisa Z.

Yelp
Paid $5 to come in and sit in an empty bar... bought drinks and when I asked if she could put water in my glass she refused... offered only bottled water. I told her I will just wait for my ice to melt. Never be back.

Chloe C.

Yelp
Please read before choosing to go here! This place is so problematic. I've been to Boogie a number of times now but last night I went for my birthday and I am so displeased with this place. Security guards are absolute asshats and were kicking people out all night for no reason. My friend was laying his head on my shoulder and he got kicked out?? I dropped my purse and they shined a flashlight in my face and were looking through my purse and threatened to kick me out literally just because I dropped my bag. If you're going to kick people out left and right at the very least you have to refund them their cover. One of my friends who came has diabetes and had his bag with his insulin and everything he needed and they wouldn't let him bring it in. They searched his bag and there was nothing dangerous or not allowed in there and still made him leave it up front. I'm no ADA expert but I'm pretty sure that's illegal lol. Oh and I totally agree with some of the reviews talking about all the old predatory men here. My friend was invited to sit in the "VIP" booth and we had to pull her out because these creepy guys started preying on her. And the other reviews are right when they say the DJ will not take song requests and is overall just so rude. All the staff are just so terrible. There's a ton of other great places in Ferndale or even in Royal Oak. Boogie is just so unpleasant and I do not recommend.

Marcos V.

Yelp
Bouncers were extremely rude and aggressive. My friends and I were looking for an amazing night out as it was our first visit to Boogie Fever. Thinking it was an LGBT friendly bar being in Ferndale was my wrong presumption. We will not be returning. Treat your patrons better. The owner should take criticism and reviews more seriously instead of shifting blame and lie on its patrons. Save yourself money and blatant disrespect and go to Orchid around the corner instead!

Dawson Q.

Yelp
Service is less than desirable. Prices outrageous. Service is slim to none. I've been multiple times and have always thought this, but this specific night sealed the deal.

Rachel C.

Yelp
I was roofied here at the beginning of June. Please watch your drinks! It's becoming more common in metro Detroit unfortunately.

Jordan S.

Yelp
honestly i used to have fun here, but after repeated physical aggression and complete abuse of power by the bouncers and security, it's a disgusting establishment. I contacted the owner about my first experience being grabbed by my arms and yanked backwards while trying to go get my purse after they told me i was " too drunk" when i don't even drink like that. I had maybe 2 drinks and am just a very energetic and sometimes obnoxious person, but they level they went to over it was way more than just wanting me out. It was completely natural for them to put their hands on me and yank me backward. The owner assured me he had a bad egg and would take care of it. Since then, the exact same thing has happened to people i don't even know, as well as me again. This past weekend they were absolutely unreasonable and aggressive to people and when i called them out and said why are you guys like this, you do this every time and it's rude and absolutely unnecessary- he didn't like being called out- so he TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO BLOCK MY WAY PAST HIM PHYSICALLY SHOVE MY 115lb BODY OUT THE DOOR. THE OWNER WAS NOTIFIED. AFTER I ASKED HIM FOR VIDEO FOOTAGE- MY PHONE NUMBER WAS BLOCKED AND ALL SOCIAL MEDIA. MARK MCCONNELL HAS ABSOLUTELY NO REGARD FOR HIS CUSTOMERS AND IS RUNNING THE PLACE INTO THE GROUND. Google has dozens upon dozens or similar experiences, adding racism and humiliation into the mix. This is just overall sad and disgusting.

Erin F.

Yelp
Bartenders took my license along with my debit card, next morning got my information stolen with a compromised card. Never going back. 0 stars!!!

Dale C.

Yelp
Don't pay for a booth they won't let you in they will pick reasons why and won't refund your money is a scam

Ms K.

Yelp
The DJ on Sat nights here is super lame. Don't waste your time...keep driving... We were here for a friend's b-day and he would not play any requests saying things like "no- I'm not going to play that "....very rude

Bradford R.

Yelp
Horrible service. Ambiance was horrible. I got kicked out for an improper outfit. The bouncer was aggressive. He shoved me out of line because I was not in proper dress code according to him. Whole thing was poorly run and it was a trashy place. Don't go here.

Mark K.

Yelp
I tried this place several times. The bartenders are homophobic. More expensive drinks if you go the bar with a guy. I expected more. Fun bar overall. Just don't let them know you're gay.

Rebecca P.

Yelp
This place is unique in the fact that they play some fun throwback music. Overall I would say you can come here and have a good time. However they are nearly impossible to get ahold of when you want to rent a booth. And finally you rent a booth for $100 and there are NO waitresses... the entire point in getting a booth is so you have someone bring you drinks instead of fighting for drinks at the bar.

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Was excited to go to this place but the bouncer denied us entry because one of us was wearing Timberlands. The place was empty on a Friday night and they turned 7 of us away. Their website's FAQ section states that they don't allow work boots, but these were brand new $200 boots, clearly not "work boots". I love how their website says this is a place for everyone to feel welcome and loved but we were discriminated against purely for the brand of boots one of us chose to wear on a snowy night.

Austin B.

Yelp
Had never been before and showed up with a group of friends after some barhopping. We were all intoxicated but no one in the group was out of control or acting inappropriately. They let all of us in but stopped one of our friends and said she was too drunk to come inside. I responded "Are you kidding me? That's bullshit. Fuck off." just out of frustrations, but also knew that we were probably going to have to leave. Without hesitation the bouncer grabbed me and dragged me out of the front door. I did push him off of me because what he did was totally inappropriate, but a simple "you need to leave" along with a few moments to gather our group would've been all we needed to leave the facility. Maybe I shouldn't have said "fuck off" but the violent nature of his response was totally out of line. Very disappointed with this interaction.

Angie P.

Yelp
just now So we call ahead of time and reserve seating and prepay for 10 guest. Half of our party arrives at 8pm, first in entire building and they were told where our reserved booth was. They went in and verified location. We decided to stay in main bar till entire group arrived and front desk person said that was fine. We all come in at 8:45 and realized the booth we were at originally was switched. Brian Kay the MANAGER told us the current person in that booth called and asked for that booth and even though we were here first we didnt check in with "Brian " so we get moved to a smaller booth. Very poor customer service. We pre pay $100 and bring 20 people yet there isnt anything u can do??? How about a round of drinks on the bar since your clearly unprofessional and not concerned with doing the right thing for the customer!! Your front staff doesnt communicate with you therefore the customer suffers! I have been to this bar many times in the past 4 years even when it was red door and this will be my last. Honestly being in customer service for 26 years I don't think I've ever asked a customer " Are yiu going to let me talk?"Really? No

Amanda B.

Yelp
Me and the wifey were visiting Detroit from Vegas looking for someplace to go out dancing, and found your average "club" playing house remixes and boring people on the dance floor. Had read the reviews for this place and we decided to come even though neither of us are really into disco. We are so glad we ended up going though, what a great place. Great music, good people, all ages, 21-50+, having a good time and dancing on their awesome light up dance floor. The next time we are in Detroit we will def be back :)

Lynn H.

Yelp
Boogie Fever was the first stop of our Surprise Birthday Party Bus. After getting over the fact that it's under construction, we began to enjoy the 80s and 90s dance tunes and get our disco on. This may not be the place for you if you are under 35. But if you are an "older" clubber or enjoy a retro experience, boogie on down.

Tiffani F.

Yelp
Love the remodel. Drinks a little pricey but not surprised. Cover is too high, 10 to 20 a person.. It's an older crowd which I enjoyed but I'm 32 and i was the youngest in there by far.

Michael C.

Yelp
I've been here once... It's not that I have anything against the place, but I'm convinced that Ferndale is just not the right town for a dance club. Granted, this place has been around for more than a few years, but it just didn't suit my soul. (Even though the whole boogie aspect includes "soul" in the general sense?) Ferndale, to me, seems to work best under the guise of coffee shops, vintage clothing stores and drink-til-you-drop watering holes. Boogie wasn't a bad place to grab a couple drinks and dance. The DJs seem to have a good sense of humor about the whole disco deal - it wasn't just disco, it was a whole cacophony of dancey tunes. Lynne mentioned Madonna. They played "Hung Up," which is about as disco as you need to get. Drinks were middle of the road in price and mix. The mixed drink I had wasn't as watered down as a WAB drink, but not a whole hell of a lot better either. I'd suggest this place if you're looking to get your groove on. If you're looking to get some drinking done, run across the street to Danny's Irish Pub. That's where the drinking happens.

Darah H.

Yelp
I had a blast here it was so much fun music was ranging from the 70s all the way up to the 2000s drinks were minimum they had bottles of beer but nothing on tap the wine selection was Neil it was really just for dancing there's only like 6 small table that sit three people and their Booth everywhere that you can reserve kind of strange but for the venue it was May 2nd decorations was awesome really enjoyed it only thing is you have to pay to get in at the front door and walked past this huge bar to the back and the bar in front was deserted but that's because everything was in the back overall it was fine oh and you have to pay for parking even on the weekends and at night enjoy and keep yelping my friends

Joe B.

Yelp
Me and a small group had the chance to party here on NYE 2011 and had a blast - or at least I know I had a blast! We arrived as the doors opened to get good seats which I recommend unless you prefer standing through the night. At 9pm the line was only 30 people deep. The service was great, the champagne toast was fine and the pizza buffet was not too chaotic. BTW the pizza was really good for night club pizza. They also added a photo booth which you can only imagine was a ton of fun after a few drinks with friends. Party favors were aplenty and supplied by the house and the music was a great mix. I'd recommend the NYE party at the Fever for sure - it was only $25 for pre-door tickets.

Rachel R.

Yelp
A group of coworkers and myself all went here on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy, but I went and got a couple drinks for my fiance and I and the bartenders were very attentive and prompt! Music was fun and upbeat, but could've been refined just a bit (nothing major.) Overall, I had a really fun time and look forward to coming back soon!

Chris L.

Yelp
I used to live in ferndale years ago. I only came here once during the year i lived in Ferndale. From my memory this place is a riot. They demand that people follow their dress code. This is a cougar playground. It's just f'ing hilarious. Place is really huge. Drinks are decently priced. Reminds me of a prom. There's a huge dance floor in the middle of the room and cougars hide in the corners. Eventually someone dances; but everyone ends up staring. Cover is a bit pricey for the "old views".

Anna C.

Yelp
I had to leave a review about a place I've never even been to before. I wanted to have my special b day event at this establishment but, I couldn't even get past the rudeness of the owner Mark treated me so poorly over the phone. I called to see if I could reserve ALL the booths they would have available for the 30th of this month. He explained to me that everything is done on line and I asked if that was the only way to reserve because, I wasn't really Swift at using a computer to reserve or purchase, is difficult for me. I asked if I could do it in person he said, I should ask one of my grand kids to help me and that it wasn't that F'N difficult! I was beside myself to the point where I just hung up. I will never spend a dime here let alone recommend anyone else to either. Sad because I was going to celebrate my b day here and a lot of guests would have spent a TON of money here! But... oh well Mark! Not my loss now is it?

Monica W.

Yelp
While walking through the billowing fog and entering the majestic and hilarious dance kingdom that is Boogie fever, there is no way to express the emotions I had. Instead I would like to share a video clip that I feel best accurately describes the moment. I hope this works.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPTUpn9ait8 Those might even be the exact dance moves I mimicked, but only because all bets were off in this joint. It is this perfect world where it is just silly enough that everyone seems to let loose, except for a handful of men who appear to be practicing to one day be bodyguards there! Yes there are quite a few wallflowers, drink in hand with arms crossed, waiting for their time to strike but don't take yourself or them seriously and you'll be just fine. Disco ball, light up dance floor, cheese perfection! I really had a blast and was so glad my out-of-towner friends ended up here with me towards the death of our crawl. Drinks were strong-ish albeit somewhat pricey. If that is a set back make sure to preparty and you can show up early to have the cover charge waived. I've never been to anyplace like Boogie Fever, and I'm certain I have not had my fill!

Mindy H.

Yelp
Boogie Fever is the best place to dance in this area! My stepdaughter and I go there almost every Saturday to get away from the cares of the workweek and relax. It's well-staffed with bouncers who constantly keep an eye on things, and really everyone on the staff is very friendly and helpful. One reviewer took the presence of the bouncers to mean there has been trouble here. Actually, it's the reverse - they keep trouble from happening. It's exciting to watch the transition taking place as Boogie Fever transforms into two new clubs. Yes, it looks like there's construction going on. But that's inevitable when you are changing things up. The good news is it's still the same staff, who are wonderful. The only negative is that the DJ is very resistant to playing requests (i.e., he won't). But he is gradually updating his playlist and does play a lot of good songs. This is the place to go for safe, laid-back fun, and it is only going to get better!

Frankie S.

Yelp
Hello my fellow yelp reviewers, if you're looking for a decent bar with any respect for human life DO NOT go here. First, they don't accept discover which come on its 2019 get with the times. Second, after buying multiple drinks I asked for a glass of tap water and was told they don't do that and I would have to BUY a bottle of water. I'm sorry but if you are a bar selling alcoholic drinks you should have the option for tap water. Water is a basic human right and no establishment should deny that right. Do yourself and everyone you know a favor and do not go to this place.

Chris M.

Yelp
People watching. Come here if you have some extra dollar bills and you love people watching. Especially on a Friday night. Especially on a Cougar night Friday night. Its fucking epically fantastic. That aside, I got there before 9 and didn't pay cover. That let them keep another star. Besides that, the place is open but getting from the main bar to the bathrooms can prove to be a pain in the ass. Drinks are basically like having that really tall, 6'5" bouncer bend you over and have his prison way with you. $4.50 for a Bud Light? I'd expect it to come with a can of Red Bull or a handjob. Holy hell. I didn't even wanna ask what a Long Island cost, but by my mathmagics, $6.50. Wowie wow wow WOW! Also, for the night I was there (Friday, Cougar Night!! raarrrrr) it was pretty fantastic. However, the people watching made up for it. I was thoroughly amused for the full 4 hours I was there and we plan on going back, but drinking before hand and bringing extremely limited cash. If you have the cash and love watching the interactions of people who normally don't interact, this is your place.

Yelp
This place is funny...like hilarious funny. I've only been here a couple of times and I think that's good enough for me. The club is huge, it's pretty much one big room, with a DJ and a decent sized bar. Considering the lights and music, I felt like I was in a 1980s East German disco. On that note, most of the crowd here probably can remember watching the fall of the Berlin Wall when they were in high school. Drinks are weak, and overpriced if I remember correctly. I drank something blue and fruity, I guess this was my attempt to fit in. The highlight of the night? My own mini-flashback when they played New Kids on the Block. Otherwise? No, thanks.

Yelp
Being the 22 going-on-55-year-old woman that I am, a group of friends and I spent our NYE at Boogie Fever and it didn't disappoint. $20 covered admission, a split of champagne and a PIZZA BUFFET at midnight. Sweet baby Jesus. It was a perfectly weird combo of some of my favorite things. The music was perfect (I think I suffered an excitement induced aneurism during "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"), the dance floor was packed with the slickest moves and the pizza was delicious. They had at least 10-15 different kinds of pizza and the staff was quick to replace empty pizza trays. Even though the place was packed, the bar tenders were quick to take orders and make drinks. The drinks were tasty, but a bit on the pricey side - plus, they had a $10 card minimum and would not keep tabs open that night, which was inconvenient and a bit of a hassle. (Hence the four stars, rather than five.) I can't wait to go back. My friends and I all agree that this was the best NYE, hands down, that we've ever had. The light-up dance floor is genius and fits the place perfectly. Boogie Fever is the perfect place to go if you want to let loose, have a great time and not care about what other people think about you. It's basically a judgment-free zone. ***Tip: There is also a coat check for $2. Not bad! I usually walk from my house, so the cheap coat check is perfect in the winter months.

Yelp
Yes!!!!!!! I finally got to check this off my Ferndale bucketlist. It felt like being at a bar mitzvah in 1992: 1970s music, bad mixed drinks, and overly made up women dancing like Elaine Bennes. If you are a middle aged guy in a half-open shirt who doesn't like to dance but loves staring at women with a drink in your hand, you will fit in. But if you ever find yourself in the company of several nurses who love to dance, there is no better place to boogie in Ferndale.

Yelp
Firstly, I just want to say that this place does NOT accept credit or debit. They have an ATM by the coat check, and the bars only take cash. This club is pretty hit or miss, music and crowd wise. The song list can either be techno versions of old 70's songs, which I dislike, or takes the best from 80's pop, which is gold to me (Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Michael Jackson, Ultravox, Dead Or Alive, Madonna, Journey, XTC, Peter Gabriel, A Flock Of Seagulls, New World Order etc, all the biggies). The crowd is usually mixed between 21-mid 40's, though you will see a few people who are even well into their 70's on occasion. It's hit or miss between attractive cougars, ti over the hill mothers, to trashy college kids. Drinks are overpriced and and bottom shelf quality. Not even one decent beer available, and the best hard liquor you can expect is Stoli and Jose Cuervo. Not to mention it's 8 bucks a drink in a plastic cup full of ice. If you want to go out, don't care about drinking, want a different music playlist in a cheap atmosphere (with a cover charge btw) and dance on a lighted platform, this is great. If you want to be with a classier crowd, get your money's worth with your drinks in a more refined atmosphere, avoid at all costs

Yelp
Oh, this place. I've been here a handful of times, each time seems to get more sloppy than the last - in a good way, of course. Here's the good: The music. It is rare to find a place that has a large dance floor and plays 70s/80s music. 98% of all of the songs played are at least danceable. It is large enough to handle a huge crowd and the douche-factor is relatively low on any given night. Here's the bad: I'm pretty sure it's cash only and the drinks are pricey. If you're looking to let loose in a judgement-free zone, come check out Boogie Fever. It's like the Planet Fitness of dance clubs.
