I visited a bookstore that was formerly a church, and the experience was truly unforgettable. The architecture is stunning, with beautiful details that reflect its historic past and create a unique atmosphere for reading and browsing. Walking through the space feels inspiring and peaceful at the same time. The combination of books with such an impressive and sacred architectural setting makes this place very special and different from an ordinary bookstore. It’s a wonderful spot not only for book lovers, but also for anyone interested in history, design, and unique cultural spaces. I highly recommend visiting and taking your time to explore and enjoy the atmosphere.

Absolutely stunning bookstore inside a historic church. The architecture is breathtaking, the books are well-curated, and the little café adds a cozy touch. A must-visit for book lovers and anyone who appreciates history and design. The most impressive detail was that the figures on the ground were grave lids(ledger stones).

It amazing how the Dutch people repurposed their old church and became a such beautiful bookstore. The title of most beautiful bookstore in the world is second to none! The old church Become a bookstore is much better some of the other churches became a bar and restaurant or some became an apartments if you asked me! You can slap have a cup of coffee or something in the back of the bookstore to admire the old church of the bookstore or the book you just purchased!

One of the best places in Maastricht. It is an old church that turn into a bookshop/coffee shop. There are lots of books and also options in different languages. Coffee shop was lovely. We tried for breakfast and it was good. Atmosphere was amazing. I would like to visit this place everyday.

This was my very first experience visiting such a place — a bookstore inside a former church — and I realized that now all my favorite bookshops in my city would never evoke even close emotions! Here you can find a book for any genre. I was most struck by the amount of literature in English, in addition to Dutch, which was a fatal mistake, as I have no self-control in such situations and was ready to buy up half the store. This entire place evokes some indescribable emotions: imagine how church services used to be held here, and now you are standing in front of a shelf with books on political science and looking at a book in which Trump is described as a modern dictator. I am amazed at how skilfully the Dutch know how to use such places! In addition to books, you can also buy vinyl records and CDs. The staff were also incredibly polite and pleasant. In the end, this place left me with a lot of emotions. I am sure that when I return to Maastricht again, I will definitely visit this paradise!))

This is such a unique bookstore—it’s a converted church with three floors and an extensive collection of books. You can admire the architecture from many different perspectives. Seeing so many people still buying physical books gives the whole place such a warm and soulful vibe.

The atmosphere is unforgettable, with books and unique items you won’t find anywhere else. What made it even more memorable was the super friendly dog greeting visitors and adding to the warm, welcoming vibe. A truly delightful place to explore — highly recommended! ☕📚🫶

An impressive building with book stalls on 3 floors and a cafeteria. Books in different languages. Worth going in to experience the place and the atmosphere

Suffice it to say that enough people have raved about this place! And I figured one more review to add to the base of ardent fans of this wonderful bookstore and cafe! The grilled cheese here is one of the best I have had outside of the US. I wasn't expecting it, so it came as wonderful surprise! I ordered a cheese sandwich that I had seen on the display, prepackaged, and when they asked me if I wanted it heated, I said yes. The result was this marvelous grilled sandwich which was simply divine! You have to pay a Euro in coin to use the bathrooms at this establishment! Just an FYI, NOT a complaint! Anything to support a wonderful place like this!

Located in the more than 700 year old Dominican church, the Guardian named it "The fairest bookshop of the world, a bookshop made in heaven," Bookstore Dominicans offers the most complete and varied assortment of books from the city of Maastricht. Even if you don't buy a thing here just drop in for a visit. If you are a book lover you will love it. There are tons of books here and I am sure you will find something of interest. I loved this shop :-)

Most magnificent book store ever. The architecture is amazing. Once upon a time this was a church and also a night club. Go figure!?! It's truly beautiful inside. You could spend hours strolling about or sipping coffee in their in house coffee shop. We stopped in while making our way through Maastricht. We were looking for a couple of local tour books and a thank you gift for our wonderful host. They have a fantastic selection of books in numerous languages. Truly something for everyone. Thanks to numerous kind and courteous staff we walked out with a bag full of books in both English and Dutch!!

A beautiful book store. Some tourists come just to take pictures, but the staffs are very nice. They have a decent book collections, even the English ones.

Amazing bookstore and coffee shop. The architecture inside is beautiful and the modern design of the bookstore's two stories provides a nice contrast to the church. The coffeeshop service is wonderful as was my tea. Next time I go, I'm going to get a few books so I can work on my Dutch.

A beautiful bookstore with a cosy coffeelovers corner that offers good coffee, small bites and cakes. Amazing atmosphere. Usually crowded on weekends. A must visit when in Maastricht!!

If you are in Maastricht on a trip, you must stop here. The space is so unique and their are books of all sorts. There is also a cute little Coffeelovers cafe in back of you just want to browse and have a coffee.

What a beautiful atmosphere! Dominicanen is a 13th century church that has been renovated and is now being used as a bookshop/cafe. The cafe section is run by Coffeelovers which also has other locations around Maastricht. This is the perfect place to browse some books and drink some tea/coffee while appreciating beautiful gothic architecture :) They also serve delicious desserts. Tip: If you go during the day, it can be crowded as it is very popular and there aren't many tables. On Thursdays, they are open until 9pm and if you go in the evening it is less crowded compared to other days.
