"A 70,000-square-foot community center and affordable-housing development that functions as the city’s oldest Black-led, Black-serving institution (over 100 years old). It operates extensive programs for vulnerable children, families, seniors, and transitional-aged youth—covering education, workforce development, wellness, food access, and family stabilization—and is positioned as a hub for fighting for better access and food sovereignty for Black and brown residents of San Francisco under new executive leadership." - Morgan Goldberg

Excellent after school program. In addition to homework time, the program has dance, theater, piano, soccer, tennis, field trips, cooking, crafts and more. Every day, snack and hot supper is served. My daughter loves tennis in the new gym and reading at her desk spot which had a spectacular view of the city. The staff is caring and friendly not only to the kids, but to parents too!

Yelp
The best food pantry I've volunteered at! The staff is welcoming and thankful, the facility is clean, and the produce is good. A cool surprise: Volunteers got food boxes for home.

Yelp
My son's aftercare and it runs as late as 6:00pm!. He loves it. This is best place for kids of all ages. I couldn't ask for more. The enrichment classes along with the eye on homework, work habits and listening is excellent.

Yelp
This program appeared to be a good welcoming place for my child for a after school program. But as a Black Dad it was not so welcoming to me. I was barred from this after school program. After picking my child up about 3 times. Saying I cant come there for pick up at 6p. They could not even tell me. They told the child's Mom! How rude! This happened 1 month after they asked me for Family Court Documentation, which stated my time share starts there at during pick up at 6p. I glady emailed documentation to the Director. They gave no clear reason why I could not come. So through emails I went to find out why I was being barred.I needed answers.Fast forward to now 7/8/22. I have been in emails about this issue with a woman by the name of Shakirah Smiley who is the executive director who has been trying really hard to make me believe she is not just singling me and my child out. By saying "it was something that was worked out between the program and my childs mom"...Not only was I hurt by this Inequality I was also saddened. Also, This program is not right because it do not allow parents to just pop in and check on their kids during program hours. A program should not be ran as a detention center.Parents should be allowed to check on their kids at anytime in any after school program.Especially during the childs transitions. Lastly, this program seems to be about their pocket books and less about Gender Egalitarianism. They can care less about the children and their parents.
