Went here for the first time with my husband and we loved it! From the clever shelf displays to the unique gifts for book lovers and non book lovers alike, this book store has something for everyone! We enjoyed picking out and buying a couple books, before heading over and grabbing a coffee at the cafe. We are looking forward to our next Bookery date!

Such a little treat in Manch! Right next to Cat Alley. They have magnets, postcards, coffee mugs, stickers, greeting cards, gifts, jewelry, and obviously books haha! There is a little cafe in the back, a children's area, and they use the front as an event/meeting area sometimes. They also do book club! Staff has always been super sweet when I've gone in.

Upon entering the Bookery and reaching Proba Cafe, I was immediately greeted with a warm and friendly smile by the barista, who took the time to address all my inquiries with ease and professionalism. The establishment boasts an impressive selection of organic beverages, including hot and cold coffees, teas, matcha, golden milk, and hot chocolate. During this visit, I opted for a hot coffee latte, which showcased exceptional flavor and impressive foam artwork. The accompanying cranberry scone was delightfully buttery and soft in texture, making for a perfect start to my day. Notably, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the cafe's status as a small, local business. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, conducive to relaxation and socialization. Before I knew it, hours had passed as I browsed books in the Bookery and caught up with friends and family. Once again, the staff and owner demonstrated their warm hospitality and genuine passion for their work. I will undoubtedly return to this establishment every time I am in town. Thank you!

Google
Beautiful store with a wide selection of books, gifts, housewares. Pleasant staff and a cafe round out the positive attributes. Lovely shopping experience.

Google
What a cute shop! I loved the mystery book section (staff covered the books with a small synopsis on the cover). Bummed that the coffee shop had moved out, but the selection was great and loved all the local knick knacks and stickers that were displayed.

Google
Charming local bookstore! Cozy 'fireplace' to sit and enjoy a book. Great little gift sections thru out, with candles, stickers, journals and even some old time candies that we grew up on. My favorite was the 'Blind Date With a Book' section, where all the books are wrapped and artwork on the 'cover' hints at the book contents, which is creatively hand drawn by the employees. There was a poetry reading happening at one end of the store when I was there, and the Cafe should be reopening later this Fall. Definitely stop in and support this great local business!

Google
Really cute coffee place and book store in one. Very comfortable place to sit and enjoy with friends or family. Lady at the coffee place was so nice to make coffee for us even though she was closing and no time.

Google
I really appreciated the layout of the store. It was both easy to navigate while at the same time fun with just the right amount of little surprises while browsing. Everything from Book recommendations, book club choices, mystery wrapped books, non book items, a fantastic array of Jellycat mixed in etc. Overall a really charming bookstore.

Yelp
Great find on a Saturday morning! Me and my aunt went for a walk around the neighborhood and came across this bookstore. We had to go in! They had such a great book selection and even had a hidden cafe in the back! We were in a hurry other otherwise we would have stayed and explored the store a bit more. This is a great spot for last minute gifts or to kill some time.

Yelp
Cozy local bookstore vibes. The selection is fair- but several of the book series I was interested in did not have the first book available. The coffee in the back is very tasty.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in the other day and we are already planning on going back! The store itself is very cute and they have a huge selection. The big highlight from this shop is the Blind Book Date selection! If you don't know what a blind book date is and you love reading you have to try this! They wrap books in paper and put a little description and draw a picture to catch your attention. You don't know what the book is until you buy it and unwrap it! I can't wait to finish the one I just got so I can get another!

Yelp
Great place to grab lunch, coffee & read a book. The staff is very friendly. The book store & cafe are in an old renovated department store.

Yelp
Nice Bookstore with Cat Alley Cafe in the back of the store. Fresh made sandwiches, salads, beverages, and 2 soups daily. The food is good, and prices are reasonable. So next time you're shopping for a great book, grab a bite & a coffee.

Yelp
Really love this nice sized bookstore. Randomly walked in and was greeted. The young guy asked who my favorite author is and he told me that he had just released a book and he had some first edition signed copies! UMMMMM WHAT?!?? Literally have read every book by this particular author so I was OVER THE MOON!! Yes this isn't a discounted half price, 1.25 for an awesome rare gem of a book but for sure they had some nice ranges of material. Had a cute cafe in the back Restrooms were clean Didn't feel like you were being rushed or watched. I took my time, found some other books I liked and just coasted there each area. They had a nice size conference meeting space in the back that people were occupying and seats outside. No complaints!

Yelp
This was a cozy little indie bookstore in downtown Manchester. Right when you walk in, the windows are lined with honeycomb shelves that in this case, featured a series of pink and red books for February. Brightly lit with full, street-facing windows, the front area has tons of cute gifts and plenty of room to shop with a little café in the back. It is small, so the book selection isn't huge, but I felt like it was really well-curated for the space available. A little something for everyone and some books that I don't regularly see at some of the bigger stores. A must stop for any booklover who is in the area.

Yelp
This place is so cute! Great to bring kids there, cute section for children and a small cafe inside too although I did not order anything from the cafe so I cannot review that part but people there seemed to enjoy it. Very unique and definitely had my attention especially compared to everything else around it.

Yelp
Delicious drinks & wonderful, helpful staff. There's nothing better than sipping some tea or espresso and reading a book here.

Yelp
LOVED this place!!! so clean, mostly friendly staff (except one barista), really great coffee, wonderful selection of books, and a nice place to work. i would go back all the time!! super cozy and uplifting environment.

Yelp
The Bookery is really cute. To be honest, I don't ever really buy anything there, it's just fun to walk around and look at their stuff. It's pretty well curated. I mainly come here for their coffee and food selection during my lunch breaks. Coffee is good but a bit overpriced. Their meals are actually delicious - I really like their soups and chili. Although, they serve it lukewarm at times. It does comes with a side of cornbread which is one of the best I've had. It's sweet and moist, you must try it! The grilled cheese and charcuterie board are also well done. I'm giving them 3-stars though because the service at the cafe is all over the place. Sometimes they are quick - other times they are extremely slow and look flustered. Oh and employees at the front of the store are usually never friendly.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the vibe of this independent bookstore in Elm Street. It was low-key and I felt comfortable to just browse and look at my leisure. I liked that the staff was friendly but not all up in my business, so to speak. It was really chill, which I liked a lot. They have a small collection of greeting cards, but each one is an absolute banger. Personally I'd rather have a smaller selection of good stuff than a large selection of middle of the road stuff; that's what box stores are for.

Yelp
The bookery is one of those places I want to keep a secret because it's so GREAT. But I feel like if I want to be a decent human being I should share it with the rest of the world. This is by far my favorite place to get a coffee and/or food. The atmosphere is beautiful, very artsy. The cooks are from outer space, everything my boyfriend and I have had to eat was out of this world amazing!!! I almost cry when I take my first bites of this salad, and then I do cry when I've finished it... because it's gone. My favorite, the Ruby Quinoa Slaw!! Everything is SO fresh and crisp it's outstanding and baffling for how cheap it is. I've attached the part of the menu that describes what's in this salad. Also, theyre bakery items look PHENOMENAL AND SO TASTY. ALSO also, they have a beautiful variety of non dairy milk which pleases the vegan in me:) LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH, I cry.

Yelp
I'll give this a 3 for a simple reason. I don't think their collection of books is great. There isn't a lot. This place seems nice for general browsing but going here to look for specifics seems like it would be a mess. It's hard to find anything. There just aren't a great number of books. However, it's nicely AC'd and there are clubs, and events to join.

Samantha V.

Yelp
Very cozy place and I loved the vibe. One of the displays were books gift wrapped for a blind date them and I couldn't get enough. Cafe is delicious and the sitting areas were great too. Overall, this will definitely be my spot whenever in Manchester.
google avatar

Tess H.

Yelp
Because it's a small shop, they only have one or two copies of everything but they are the COOLEST possible editions of everything. Seriously saw some of the most beautiful books I've ever seen here. The coffeeshop inside is also a huge added bonus.

Yelp
Such a wonderful bookstore and cafe! While exploring Manchester, NH I stopped here mid-morning to warm up from the chilly weather and to kill some time. Their gluten free turkey black bean chili was amazing and I enjoyed time spent reading in front of their fake fireplace on a very comfy side. They had a modest, but good selection of books and I loved their little gift/knickknack corner where I bought some cute holiday cards and a booklet of National Park postcards. The Bookery Manchester is a must visit for book lovers any healthy eaters alike!

Yelp
I attended a conference in early April and stopped here during lunchtime. The bookstore front was super clean, modern, and organized and had that "new book" smell. There were also cute little flowers made out of book pages as a delicate on-theme decoration. The food was quite good! I had a sandwich that was tasty and too large to finish in a sitting. The chai was perfectly warm and velvety smooth. The only drawback is that the cafe part was a little small so we (3 people) had to sit at the small counter since one large party had most of the chairs and tables.

Yelp
A lovely, independent bookstore that also sells gifts and has a cafe in the back. Picked up two new reads today with a hot black coffee and a dirty iced chai. This place has such a relaxing, yet inviting atmosphere.

Yelp
Beautiful renovations on the inside! Quaint and friendly independent bookstore in downtown Manchester. I would highly recommend that you take a moment and stop in! Grab a coffee, find a new read and check the place out!

Jenny M.

Yelp
I was in town for work and needed to grab a quick lunch. I got a salad, tea, and croissant and was out the door in less than 10 minutes, and it was all delicious! Only wish I had time to stop and check out their book selection!

Darlene R.

Yelp
What luck that I happened upon this charming bookstore during a walk along Elm Street! It's become a regular browsing destination. Helpful staff and great atmosphere. If they don't have it they cheerfully order it for you. Check it out! Darlene R.

Yelp
Such a perfect edition to Manchester. Great place to study, eat, or even find the perfect gift! Staff is super friendly and helpful too.
google avatar

Yelp
absolutely horrible book selection. This is a book store for people who don't read and just put books on their book shelf or for that stupid aunt that gets you a book you wanted for Christmas but gets you an absolutely horrible edition and pays way too much for it too!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the vibes here! Great local bookstore. The café is good as well and they have great entertainment. They work hard at connecting with the Manchester community!

Yelp
This modern unique bookstore has a very very cool atmosphere. The books are very well organized by genre that were easy to navigate as well as some rather interesting ones...ie: murder, paranormal, gory, romance, etc. the coffee shop in the back is bomb. The coffee served is Flight...top quality. They also serve a plethora of foods from salads, sandwiches and soups. I didn't try any but will on the next visit. Was introduced to Ben who is the new GM of the place, ultra ultra nice and also was very willing to take time out of his day to not just make suggestions on which coffees and teas he likes but also followed up with asking if we liked it after settling down reading. The hospitality was top notch. Overall, I've found a new spot to study and book hunt/read. This spot is phenomenal.

Yelp
Came here a couple days before the grand opening they had on Sunday May 19th. I was greeted politely and continued to look around the Store. It is very spacious with different sections but not very much depth, meaning options. I understand they are a brand new spot. Not saying this is negative at all. I spoke with an employee and she said that this was their base and they will be getting a much bigger variety! They have quite some options for being brand new so that was nice. I spent probably two hours here and was encouraged to check out a few books and spend time reading. I grabbed a coffee and relaxed for a little while. In the back of the shop they have a coffee bar with espresso drinks, teas and some yummy treats including massive cake pops and mini donuts with different kinds of dips. Everybody was so friendly here... hence why I came back for the grand opening, today, may 19th. I got here just in time to see the ribbon cutting and grab a coffee in the back. I am not from here nor do I live nearby, but if I am ever in Manchester again I will definitely be back to buy a book, get a coffee or just come hang out and read for a little while. Thank you for making my visit a great one. YAY first review :)

Yelp
Espresso was weak, could tell by looking that not enough grinds were used to make my double Espresso, worker seemed to me new at using the machine by her hooking in the cup and looking for the double botton. Tasted like great coffee, not an espresso. Also no sauser or spoon, I hate using the huge spoon, for eating, to skim my top and eat it. Vegan soup was warm not hot and was plain, so much tomato with very little spice to back it up, wasn't inetable mainly bland. Price was 7.64 for small cup of soup and espresso not impressing me. Great decorum open and fresh.

Yelp
This is a great place grab a book and coffee. Wonderful for kids, and events all the time. Check it out.

Yelp
The employee by the cafe area wasn't vocal and didn't seem like she was into her job, this place sells expensive snacks that are quality and are good but we didn't feel welcomed.
google avatar

Holly S.

Yelp
Went here to get two coffees. No hot coffee or cold brew brewed, they have no regular sugar at the coffee bar area, or simple syrup. They gave me a nitro brew with no ice in it and proceeded to pour half of it out and fill the cup with ice. Never ever coming back here. Go to A+E instead

Yelp
I am shocked by the 3-star reviews! I've been to The Bookery twice so far and am charmed. I am an avid reader who leans away from best sellers. I found the collection at The Bookery to be eclectic and very tempting. I typically get most of my books from the library, but The Bookery had me adding to my Christmas Wish List pretty quickly. My first visit was to join the Thursday night knitting group and I was worried I would be the lone 60-year old in a room packed w Millennials. Couldn't have been more wrong, it was a comfortable mix of ages. That same night there was live music in one corner and a reading group in another. Came back w my husband that Sunday and he was delighted with the many tables and friendly service at the cafe. Decent turkey chili and a beer and wine selection. The Bookery is not B&N with two dozen copies of the latest Janet Evanovich. This is a readers selection of books you want to read, not feel that you need to read. It's a small shop, half the old McQuades, and you just need to know going in that it's an experience not a book-mart. I hope you enjoy The Bookery as much I have do.

Katherine F.

Yelp
The bookery is a great place to relax or work! It's got a very relaxing vibe, the food is great, and the staff is super nice. I love it here!

Kristin M.

Yelp
I was so excited to see an independent bookstore open and went today to check it out. The store is really pretty but the employee at the register didn't even look up when I walked in and nobody said anything to me as I shopped around for twenty minutes. The same employee at the register was also annoyed when I wanted to buy something and she needed to stop checking in books to help me. I'm disappointed with the vibe there. I was so hoping for better!

Chuck N.

Yelp
Nitro Brew w/a Lemon Bar slice. Yummy!!! 1st time here, service was good, staff are nice, ambience is calming.

Yelp
I've been at the Bookery twice both with my 7 year old daughter, it was her idea to go! Both times we walked out with items first time it wa her sloth toy with an information book and the second time a book about a unicorn and a writing journal she is now very excited . The young lady at the desk was very patient with my 7 year old while she paid and putting her money and receipt away (she insisted on making the purchase). we will be making another trip soon for a Childs' cookbook.
