Excellent very quiet for reading and a a lot variety of books if you can’t find it here it don’t exist.

Google
I have been buying books with Books & Books since July, 1995. If they don’t have it in store they will order for me in a very efficient way. I would like to thank Books & Books in Bal Harbour for ordering a rare book I needed for a gift to be shipped to LA.

Google
Fantastic selection of modern interesting books. Books were MSRP, which is fine. Only thing in the whole mall that was reasonable priced!

Google
I'll give 5 stars because of the employee working there. The lady was very nice and attentive, I would like this place to have more philosophy books and a classic books section but that is a personal preference. The prices are good and the location too. Wish them the best

There are a number of Books and Books branches throughout Southeastern Florida. All independently owned and staffed by people who are passionate about books. I’ve visited a couple with nary an intention to buy. However, I always end up buying a good book or two here. Usually something of local interest. This is a nice small branch located in the Bal Harbor Shops. The staff was very knowledgeable about their collection as well as what’s different about their other locations…they made a couple of recommendations. Parking is free in the shopping area. I loved the architecture and the layout of the Shops — it’s all open air with plenty of greenery. The Shops are mostly high end so I’m unlikely to shop here, but some of the eating places were packed: I’ll be back to Books and Books and throw in a drink and a meal at one of the bars/restaurants at the Shops.

I loved coming into this shop. Excellent selection and a very friendly worker who was skilled in the art of engaging you in conversation but allowing you your space to browse. I accidentally knocked a pricey book down off a high shelf and he was very kind about helping me.

Google
Great selection of books , found just what I was looking for . The manager was super friendly and we even had a very interesting chat on geopolitics .

Lillian Hazel Pearce

Google
Walked in and was not greeted by either of the two workers, even after I said hello. I was disappointed in their curation, too; there were only staff cards for one shelf for books that are pretty well known (“Beach Read” by Emily Henry), and the other shelves were not super organized. Instead of a fantasy section and a romance section, for instance, the books were just listed under “fiction.” Basically, if it’s out of your way, don’t bother :/

Yelp
Books and Books has a long history with Miami. The flagship store is located in a beautiful 1927 building listed in the Coral Gables Register of Historic Places. Mitchell Kaplan founded Books & Books in 1982 in a 500 sq ft space in Coral Gables when he realized that he loved books more than going to law school. Somehow this independent book seller has managed to stay in business in a time when most books are bought online. One of the ways they have stayed relevant is by hosting over 60 author events every month. Books & Books sponsors one of my favorite events every November, the Miami Book Fair, when 300 hundred authors converge on the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College for a week of one of a kind literary events. The fair was started in 1984 by Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus President, Eduardo J. Padrón and Mitchell Kaplan in partnership with the Miami library system. Many famous people, artists, athletes, politicians, and celebrities have come to Miami to speak about their books at the fair. It is now the largest literary festival in the country. I discovered this small Books & Books outpost while exploring Bal Harbour Shops. It might be one of the only stores I can afford in the entire mall. As soon as you walk in the heavenly smell of books engulfs you. I wish they sold it is a perfume. On the wall and tables are a good selection of the latest best sellers, popular fiction, children's book, and non fiction. They also sell reading glasses. In a time when most books stores have been shuttered, it is wonderful to see that Books & Books has managed to keep the literary loving community engaged.

Yelp
Hellooo!! My mom ordered a book and paid cash. After a week no call no text. No communication. When I called the book was sitting in the store. Two phone calls, time, gas, parking, and unpleasant customer service. Disrespectful manager and 30% more expensive than online. Not worth it at all. Actually the book is $17.49 right now when my mom paid $35 in the store. Owner responded to my email. Tks Mr Kaplan.

Yelp
$40 for a journal which has nothing special to it not even a hardback book, should've known by the area it would be expensive, no bibles in the religious section

Yelp
What a gem of a place. Needed to sell some books and was totally surprised by this incredible Book Store. It is a tourist attraction and also a place where students come to look and read some of these antiquities. Wish that bookstores weren't obsolete you can't reolace a book with tablet

Yelp
I enjoyed this small bookstore. Its organized nicely through categories with a unusual variety of large trendy coffee table books. The decor is classic and well lit. However Being disabled I would have liked some short term seating and not have had to leave the store to find it while I waited for my companion.

Yelp
Well organized with very capable people to help find things. Not huge but great for just about every genre. Good kids section and only toys in the mall

Yelp
We were delighted to find out there was a bookstore on the third floor of the Bal Harbor Shops. We've been countless times throughout the years there, and never knew this bookstore existed. The selections/genres are not clearly marked, and we had to search a bit until we found what we were looking for. There aren't a lot of copies for each books. Mostly 1 or 2 at the most. There were 3 people behind the checkout counter. The male cashier didn't address us once as we were paying. But 1 of the 2 ladies next to him was very chatty and interested in our choice of books. She turned the whole experience from cold to warm and welcoming. Not the best store, but still a gem in days where finding a bookstore is becoming more and more a thing of the past.

Yelp
This is my "go-to" bookstore to purchase all of my favorite Assouline books. I like the wide assortment of books available in every category in the store. I especially enjoy shopping at Books & Books in Bal Harbour and have spent hours browsing. I also like all of the accessories that they sell in their stores. I think one thing unique to Books & Books are the available autographed books by the authors themselves. You don't find those everywhere. Their hours are very good and the sales associates are always very professional and courteous. When you at Bal Harbour Shops, make sure you check them out in the 3rd Level on the West side of the complex. It's a pleasant and relaxing experience.

Yelp
Books and Books is a gem! Warm, friendly, and helpful staff is super knowledgeable. What a sweet indie book store! I love to support them rather than buying books online. It's worth the instant gratification and the heart warming experience of getting lost in a fabulous book store. I heart you Books and Books! xoxoxo

Yelp
Best book store I have been to in years hands down! Books and Books is a fabulous store here and a mecca for anyone who loves the printed word! Amazing selection of fashion books and design books as well as many other types. For me this is the Barney's/Bergdorf Goodman of book stores. They have been around for many, many years and hopefully will be for many more in the future.

Yelp
The bookstore at the airport was better stocked. I've never felt so uncomfortable walking through a mall. The staff also cold and unwelcoming. I felt like I was being watched. My partner and I visit well known bookstores when we travel and heard only good things about this store. Perhaps it was the location that gave us bad vibes. Book lovers beware.

Yelp
We love this bookstore! This is one of our favorite stops. They have a great selection of children's books! Books that I can't seem to find anywhere else including amazon. They also have a little cafe with excellent food. Their vegan dishes are so good. Huge portions and very filling which is saying a lot for a vegan dish.

Yelp
I loved this book shop. All the little corners. Felt like an old library. The staff was super helpful. And my puppy welcomed.
google avatar

Yelp
I wasn't there for long, but they had an amazing selection of books. The books in the photography / art department were great. Many of them were in plastic so I couldn't look into them, but I can't be mad about that. They have a great children's section as well. The people were friendly and helpful. The place looks cozy and inviting. My kids were a little distracted by the toys they want me to buy, so I bought them a book and fled :). I would have stayed longer if I could.

Yelp
SO this Books&Books is at the ends of the earth for me, and the only reason my darling friend Tania R. and I went here was so met Bethenny Frankel! =] I think I found my next favorite book store! It is not to big but not small either. It is wide open, so everything is easy to find and get around. The register is right smack in the middle which I love. The staff is super sweet, and very helpful. If it wasn't so far I would come more often!

Yelp
Yes indeed. It is as good as it gets. With the bookstore scene slowly dying across the nation not only does Books and Books maintain it's doors open but produces high quality items and brings a wonderfully creative flair to their books and products. They understand the heart of the literary buff and strive to make them feel at home by supplying an array of interesting books. It's a pleasure to come to this store and whether it's to browse or purchase, you will defnitely find that the company offers quality over quantity. I recommend this store when seeking a special and rare book as a gift.

Yelp
Shops like Borders may come and go but I hope Books and Books stays around forever. It's everything a reader could want - comfy, inviting space with new titles and old, featuring a knowledgeable staff who spin edgy yet easy listening indie tunes and serve as your guide to the literary unknown. I 'discovered' more new authors and music than I can remember at this shop. The new location at the north end of the mall is even more wonderful than the south as its larger and features a coffee bar with exotic teas and refreshing fro-yo. If I could give this lit-shop six stars I would!

Yelp
Who knew there was a Books and Books in Bal Harbour? Tucked away on the 2nd floor of the upscale Bal Harbour shops, B&B offers a nice pit stop from all the damage you've done to your credit card here at this mall. Bookstore is very upscale and nice. Indoor and outdoor searing, however, the cafe only serves pre-prepared sandwiches and salads, unlike the beach location. But in their defense, they do have a full-service coffee bar and a lot of unique sweets, which are excellent. Nice selection of books too.

Yelp
Best way to start off your morning with a latte here! The few places you can enjoy and afford in bal harbor shops. Great book selection, and the cafe is solid. You can sit outside with your coffee for hours, and people-watch. The outdoor fountains drown out the noise, and you really can lost in a book. The local Miami section here is very interesting.

Yelp
I haven't met anyone who doesn't love books and books! Lots of menu options including vegan and vegetarian food that actually tastes fantastic- I order the veggie options sometimes and I'm a full fledged carnivore. Really anything you order will be great. The sweet potato fries are delicious. They even sell cupcakes. I highly recommend.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Miami. I found really cool stuff, new books, the staff was really nice and I loved the kids section.

Yelp
This is a great little bookshop and there are always good reads and good deals. Want to get a great, difficult to find book, then try here and your chances are very good, indeed! a

Yelp
so i made my way to this books & books for the book signing of ms. bethenny frankel's new book: the skinny girl dish (accompanied by emma j.) & i loved the look of this store! i think all books & books stores have a cozy, homey feel to them. they always make you feel like you are NOT in miami. the staff was very friendly too. i'd stop here next time i'm on this side of town in another few years or so.

Yelp
Books and books is my spot!!! They always have my book club selected readings and the cafe is FIRE!!! I usually come on a quiet afternoon, grab my reading, a beverage, and a snack and let time drift away as I'm sinking into my book at the outside seating area. The cheapest activity in Bal Harbour by far!!!
google avatar

Yelp
What an extremely cute book store! It's the first that I've found in S.FL that has this cozy feel that I love, which reminds me of the independent book stores I use to frequent in Orlando and Dallas. They also serve yogurt and dessert at their cafe! Must come back for a longer stay next time!

Yelp
In the kids' books section, the STEM items are in the section labeled "Books for Boys". The "Books for Girls" section had items about princesses, dance, etc. I mentioned to the employee that this grouping sends a misleading message to children (i.e., interest in Science, Tech, Engineering, Math is only appropriate for boys), and she said, "that's how the customers want it". Well, I am a customer with 3 young daughters, and I find this appalling. Why would anyone want to convey the message to young girls that STEM is not accessible to them? Yikes.

Yelp
I like Books & Books. I've been to many of their events and to three of their locations. Always been impressed. However, this past Saturday night (05/14/16), I went into the B&Bs in Bal Harbour. It was 8:54 PM, so it was, in fact, close to Closing Time. Nevertheless, the gentlemen who was working watched the two of us come in and never said a word. Then, not 30 seconds after we entered, the clerk turned off the lights and announced that they were closed. I found this to be extremely rude. I understand wanting to close on time on a Saturday night but just don't shut the lights off when it isn't even 9:00 PM yet. Tell us when we first enter that you're closed. It was clear that the clerk is not an owner but, rather, an employee, so customers probably don't mean as much to him. But, c'mon: at least tell me you are closing in five minutes and ask if you can help me find something. As a matter of fact, I knew exactly what I went there for and was on my way to pick it up when the lights were turned off. So, stopped by Barnes & Noble on the way home and bought what I wanted there.
