19 Spots in Miami for Refreshing Summer Cocktails | Eater

"At the aptly named Booze Garden, a nightclub and bar in Miami’s cool Wynwood Arts District, the drinks are stiff but the setting is laid back. Modeled after the first Booze Garden in Fort Lauderdale, this chill hangout sports a look that brings the outdoors inside. Like a backyard barbecue meets a block party, this venue is filled with games from vintage arcade games to giant Jenga. Kick back with your usual homestyle drinks made boozier, like Booze Garden’s Grey Goose Loaded White Claw." - Vox Creative

First time here last night and had a blasts. Alondra was so nice and helpful. She even suggested us to try a new drink called Casa Azul Tequila Soda in watermelon which tasted amazing. Everyone was super friendly and engaging with the customers. Such a nice vibe and a great place to meet up with your friends and have a good night out.

Google
The bartenders are amazing. However, the same cant’t be said about the owner and his friends. I have been here multiple times. Tonight, one of the owner’s friends decided to shove me, so I just told him to go around me. To which he laughed in my face and said “I am going to get you kicked out.” He disappeared and “spoke” to the owner and sent my friends and I out the door for a problem HE caused. I am currently a bartender and have never been disrespected this way by an establishment, let alone an owners friend

The drinks were good and not watered down. Great service and great atmosphere. Bar tenders and the woman working the door are smoking hot. The big man at the door was super cool, he even took time out to give me and my son a little bit of history on himself and the area. Will be back this summer

Fun place and nice atmosphere.

Kyle is a god amongst men… a Zeus in his own circle.. He can strike lightning down on the groups and groups of gorgeous women and make them love the party he brings. There is no party like a Booze party!🎉

Google
These people are so mean…. I stop by booze garden after work because I work at a near by restaurant that is right up the street. On this specific night, it’s spring break, and they are busier than usual. After being at the bar for about 15 minutes, a bartender ask me what did I want? I told him. He proceeds to drink a shot of patron. He then pours approximately several dots of tequila in my cup (he’s obviously drunk and doesn’t even realize the pourer is clogged with who knows what) then fills my cup with juice, then raises his hands at me telling me 10 dollars. I explained to him he poured nothing in my cup, he then threw my drink (behind the bar) and threw my debit card at me that was on the counter…. This is my first encounter like this here because I’ve been here quite a few times but it’s also my last. I didn’t say anything rude, and I also respect the business. But this drunk mess of a bartender is absolutely unacceptable.

Google
Absolutely awful staff and awful experience. My best friend got kicked out of this bar for the first and only time all vacation forcefully because the bouncer said “you think you can make funny faces at me”. My friend didn’t even know what he was talking about , but got shoved out hard like he did something awful. He proceeds to complain ON THE SIDEWALK - WELL OUTSIDE OF THE ESTABLISHMENT and because he complained and asked simply why he got kicked out he gets maced in the eyes. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional way to treat your customers and I’ll be sure to let every single person I know to avoid this place when visiting Fort Lauderdale. We are currently assessing whether we can file a lawsuit. The police came and even took my friends side and said that this wasn’t right. My friends been on the sidewalk for 30 minutes rinsing his eyes out over this and our nights ruined.

Yelp
great fun bar with great music and games. it's like a beer garden yet inside and a full bar. def a place where people get wild but a good wild.

Yelp
Interesting little spot that feels very open and has some eclectic decor and video and arcade games to play. We stopped here, had a few beers (Miller Lite cans were $6 but disappointingly, were not at all cold) and played one of the basketball arcade games, which is one of our favorites to play at places like Dave & Busters as well. The best part is that the arcade games here are free to play, though of the 3 basketball games they had here, only 1 worked correctly. One was completely broken while another didn't keep score at all. They had music pumping away and though this place was nearly empty when we arrived, by the time we were ready to leave about 20 minutes later, it had filled up quite a bit. There's a spot just outside the entrance to get food, which is just a bit bigger than a food cart.

Yelp
Booze Garden is one of the best bars downtown, one of the owners, Alex Passakos is a true friend of the people! He really cares about his guests and friends that frequent the place. It shows through the atmosphere of the bar. Great music, great bartenders and fun games to play while you're there! Sincerely, Josh Clyde @SandmanBeachArt

Yelp
its the same owners as sway. I can smell the greygoose and underage drinkers from sway next door. Drink prices are overpriced considering how many years theyve been in business. You wouldve think they paid off their loans by now and can finally lower the prices. 2 stars because the staff here arent a55holes like sway. Fk you bozos at sway

Yelp
Small but ratchet bar with a nice basketball arcade game setup and some wooden stair seating. Bar was accommodating and the bartenders were fast and hardworking. Drinks were around $10-15 each which is not too bad. Music was popping all night. There's a great food vendor outside. Not much else to write home about

Yelp
Stopped in on a Tuesday night for a friend's birthday. A great crowd. The dj was awesome as well. We started off with some shots and then ordered a drink. We stayed for a while and danced without a care in the world it was definitely needed! They had some games to play as well. I saw the shooting hoops game so that seemed fun. Overall, a vibe for everyone. Great for a Tuesday and im sure it's even more lit closer to the weekend. Great location downtown. I'll definitely stop in again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
So absolutely packed. You could barely move around in there without bumping into someone. A lot of pushing/shoving went down. There should be a limit on how many people are let in. They have basketball games and a punching game but you can't even see where the line is too play them through all the people.
google avatar

Yelp
Security guard who works on Sundays, white and over weight with glasses looking like a Peter griffin knock off is very very disrespectful. I have no idea why he had an issue with my I.D but he started an issue with me after I showed him my I.D and so I called him out and he tried to kick me out and then it escalated to him trying to throw me 4'11" onto the ground. I cooperated once the police said something and knew how to have a conversation where I was able do explain what happened. I was very confused about the whole thing. I was also dressed like a stud instead of a fem so maybe he was homophobic??? Idk but I won't be telling any of my friends to come here unless they wanna get thrown over an I.D and get disrespected. Him kicking me out doesn't change the fact that he actually can't do his job, how you hire a man who can't even communicate and is easily triggered by a young tiny female? This club hires security that can't even do its job. Overweight and can't even run, overweight and losing breath over some words....he had to get someone else to do his job because he couldn't do it himself. A simple conversation can solve so many issues :)

Yelp
This was the first stop on our A Game of Crawls, Game of Thrones themed pub crawl. I checked in at 8 and received a ton of candy, a crown, and beads. Most importantly I had a card which entitled me to 5 drinks at 5 different bars. First stop was the Booze Garden. Opened in 2017 it replaced Glitch Bar. I had never been here before but I loved it. The bar is decorated to look like a back yard with astro turf on the floor, fake shrubbery on the wall, and garden vines from the lighting. There is a large bar on the left wall. Rounding out the decor are arcade games and posters from my favorite movies from the 80's and 90's. They set up a fake snow machine outside because winter was here. They also hung up some GOT house banners on the wall to keep with the theme. I loved the music playing, The Killers and the White Stripes. On the TV star Wars was playing. I would have lingered longer but I had four more bars to make it to but I'll definitely be back. This place had my kind of vibe.

Yelp
When visiting Riverfront Fort Lauderdale there's a long list of places that are classic. Places you just stop to really understand the What partying in Fort Lauderdale is all about. These include Dicey Riley's, Capone's, and America's Backyard. To that list you must also add a new member - Booze Garden. Conveniently located on 2nd ave itself, Booze Garden is a turn away from Broward Blvd. Finding parking either on the street or in adjacent parking lots is not bad at all. But the best park it's the locale. It's decorated with 90's and 80's movie posters you'll definitely recognize. There are also arcades and gam machines that will definitely inspire the child in you. The most important part of course are the drinks. The bartenders know how to take care of you. The drinks are fantastic, the music is great, and the ambiance engaging. As stated earlier, when visiting Riverfront there's a new stop in town - Booze Garden.

Yelp
This place is such a fun vibe! I've been here a few times with friends. There's a bar, a dance floor, photo booth and games. It's a really fun place to hang out and have some drinks.

Yelp
Almost got roofied here last night. The bartender was very nice and made sure to make me another drink n pointed the bouncer out to me to get the guy kicked out...but he didn't get kicked out. Must've been friends with the bouncer or something. I'm traveling from CT and I just would prefer for men to like not spike my drink and I'm sure any other female would feel the same.

Yelp
Booze Garden is hidden behind the hustle and bustle of downtown. It's directly on Himmarshee and I never visited BG without it being overly packed and customers spilling out the doors. Booze Garden has a very fun setup where you find countless arcade games as well as board games if you can find a spot to play. The music is always playing and the drinks are constantly flowing. Unlike other bars downtown I find that BG has really great drink prices. I get Jameson+Gingerale for about $8/each opposed to the normal $12-$15 drinks you'd find in clubs and such. BG is super casual and they don't hold you to a dress code. It's a great place to go with groups of people and enjoy your night out!

Yelp
We came here last night which was a Saturday night and the place was packed. It's a cool concept with free arcade games and fake grass. These types of bars are getting popular and starting to pop up everywhere. I'm surprised they didn't charge a cover. I gave it two stars because all the games were pretty much occupied and there were about 5 bartenders on duty but they were the most unfriendly bunch I've ever seen behind a bar. They looked miserable! There weren't many games to choose from either. We stood at the bar for about 5 minutes and they were just standing there and not making eye contact with us. Yes, the bar was busy but everybody else already got their drinks. Finally a bartender asked what we wanted but he did not seem happy or willing to serve us. Having bartenders with that type of attitude will definitely destroy your business. I would check this place out again another day but not on a weekend night. The drinks were super expensive too. Also, the bartender's lack of enthusiasm turned me off so I may not even come back here for a while until they get better staff; if this bar even lasts that long.

Yelp
This new beer garden in Downtown Fort Lauderdale is laidback and fun. As you probably already know, there's a good handful of arcade games all along the left side of this spot for FREE such as Pac-Man and basketball. To the back is where the beer garden vibe is, there's a small platform with astroturf flooring and cozy seating. The bar is pretty small, same as with the entire place which is one of the reasons for the star rating. The other reason is I despise the location. And it did not help that I went during the Halloween Bar crawl which was suicide. But the bartenders were quick and the drinks were cheap and relatively strong. I had a merlot for $6 and they had deals on well drinks so I got a screwdriver for $4. I do plan on coming back but I don't know if anytime soon. It will take me time to look past that it's located in Downtown, I loathe that area and I wish people knew how to be decent over there.

Yelp
My friends and I loved this place! Open space, a great crowd and the jumbo jenga and arcade basketball was a nice touch. The bathroom was clean and the host inside was so sweet and accommodating! The prices were reasonable and they had security in place, so there wasn't much to worry about. O came with my girls, but I'll be back for date night with my husband!

Yelp
Visited this location with a group of 12 women. Multiple had their phones and wallets stolen from their purses that were either clutches or slings securely on their person. The situation was quickly noticed and when we informed the bouncer, they were not helpful. Would not let the woman who had her wallet stolen re-enter the bar to look for the wallet as she did not have ID (it was in the stolen wallet). Have read a large number of reviews from here and Sway (nightclub next door who also owns Booze Garden) highlighting similar situations. A high number of phones and wallets are stolen at both locations frequently. Staff and security are not helpful. We were told by security in the area that 32 phones were stolen this month and that it is not a safe location for groups of women. When you attempt to contact the bar, the number provided is disconnected. Not a safe bar or area if you are a woman at all.

Yelp
I stop by here from time to time. It's a very small place and they play good music however it gets way too packed and i just hate feeling so tight. Sometimes i only stop by to say hi to my friend joey who works at the door. One thing i will highly recommend is the food sold right outside they have great colombian burgers
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
Interesting place, mixed age groups. they have old fashion video like Pac-Man and Tetris. Its a small bar no food. There is a space in the back for sitting and dancing. I loved the music they play here. It's a good alternative place to hang out and have a good time.

Kyle L.

Yelp
Favorite place to go in Fort Lauderdale, great vibes and service. They even have the best food after a lon

Allison B.

Yelp
Cheeseburger fumes are inescapable. Free basketball game is the only reason it's not 0 stars. It's giving chuck-e-cheese's.
google avatar

Claire S.

Yelp
Cool spot to have a few drinks, watch sports, and play some arcade games. Booze Garden has a laid-back vibe and awesome bartenders to match. I was expecting more of an outdoor space, but I think that a portion of this space is closed after Covid restrictions. Regardless, I'll be back!
google avatar

Porsha H.

Yelp
Chill vibe, decent drinks, nice ambiance. This is a good place to start off the night. It has a rhythm and vine feel in a smaller scale. They have giant Jenga, video games, basketball video game. One of The few spots that people are at but it's not wall to wall people. Highly recommend checking it out
google avatar

Derrick K.

Yelp
The newborn baby of the popular bar in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale, Booze Garden is a cozy and fun place to gather with friends. It has vintage lighting, arcade style basketball, pinball- even a photo booth. The bartenders are very close and make you feel like family when you're there. I'm happy they brought it down to Wynwood. This is a perfect fit for 23rd St. It feels good to be "Welcome Home"!
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
Can't believe I go out to Downtown Ft. Lauderdale all the time with my friend and only just recently discovered this place! We noticed that this place was becoming popular on Snapchat and Instagram so we decided to check it out. Upon arriving we ordered their House shots which are only $3, they are pre-made but felt to be pretty strong. They had several drink specials including a $15 punch bowl. The games is what really got us excited! They had basketball machines, giant jenga, pacman/galaga machine, giant connect four and more! Not to mention they had a sick playlist from early 2000's that I was loving. We had a great time. Only thing is when you enter, the bar has a weird smell but we forgot about it quickly. Other than that, so much fun!
google avatar

Nahuel P.

Yelp
The Bouncer was a bit rude but the place is nice overall: excellent music, great free games like basketball, and friendly staff. Also, they throw napkins which is not very environment-friendly, and they stick to your shoes which is a bit annoying for dancing, but it didn't go as far as to ruin the experience.
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
Had become a regular at booze garden while living in Fort Lauderdale, loved the atmosphere and the throwback music, very nostalgic. Lately it has seemed to become like every other bar and club playing generic music and subbing out their games and photo booth for a fog machine. Slightly disappointing. Definitely appreciated it more a year or two ago.

Yelp
I'm writing this post with concerns, especially after reading other posts about the bouncers. On August 17th my adult daughter (22 yrs) and her adult boyfriend (21 yrs) both went to Booze Garden approximately 2 AM. It was one day after his 21st birthday and the boyfriend's drivers license, which was an out-of-state license, was confiscated by the bouncer at the door. Said bouncer told him "come back at 4 AM and bring some money to get the license back." Luckily my daughter wisely called the Fort Lauderdale police non-emergency number. Two extremely nice Fort Lauderdale Police officers showed up and explained to the bouncer that they cannot confiscate somebody's drivers license. My question to this group is: do you know of anybody who has had this sort of treatment at Booze Garden extorted for money to get their drivers license back at the end of the night? And as an added note, I have tried to call the business multiple times the past 2 days with nobody answering the phone. I will continue to try to call and reach out to the manager or owner of the establishment to ask them to investigate. But in the meantime, I want to know if there are others out there who have had a similar incident occur. I would have given a zero star rating but you can't post unless you select at least one star. Thanks
google avatar

Gena T.

Yelp
Booze garden was a great time! The music was fantastic, service was prompt. What more can you ask for out of a bar?
google avatar

Lindsey B.

Yelp
I like the basketball game and the photo booth. I see a lot of guys from bumble there, so good place to find your matches at oR the ones who swiped left on you lol. Drinks are a little pricey for a divey place and they don't give away tap water even if you're dehydrated lol. It's a bar I like to Casually walk through, people watch, shoot some hoops and get food next to the bar when I have the drunchies
google avatar

Sanjana J.

Yelp
Love the vibe here! It's a great crowded and so much fun! My friends and I love drinking and playing basketball, using the arcade games and photo booth. The bartenders are super friendly and occasionally will give out a free shot. Music is always great and the bathrooms are fairly clean. The do that plays on Saturday nights is usually pretty good as well. Even better than that, they have a food truck that parks outside on Saturday's and Sundays, Called Boozy Bites the food is amazing! I got the Mexican hot dog, picture attached.
google avatar

Marcillina T.

Yelp
Amazing spot! Free arcade games and a great atmosphere. If you're considering going, you won't regret it! I only wish the music had a bit more variety. I'd definitely still come back though.
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
The service was terrible. The bartender had to leave the bar for mixers, because they weren't behind the bar already.... ask for pineapple juice for a chaser in a drink or shot, you'll have to wait until they find it... They include tip, but there's no way to tell when signing, so beware if you select to add you're doing so on top of an already added 18%. I did this and didn't realize until after, which is unfortunate, because the service is terrible. Also, it appears most of the people who work here spend 85% of their time on their own phones from my observation. Thank goodness for those built in tips.

Greg N.

Yelp
Been here a few times without issue until recently. I'm almost 24 with a real horizontal ID obviously... either way the bouncer said my ID was fake and denied entry. "I'm just doing my job" was what he said.. won't be coming back

Bryan A.

Yelp
Absolute bums. They break the law by not offering free water after customers have bought many drinks. It is illegal not to offer free tap water. Bums. Reporting them to authorities. They try to force you to buy bottle water which is their tap water in Ali baba bottles lol. Bums
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
DONT BOTHER ORDERING PREMIUM DRINKS. They pour well liquor into their premium bottles and then have the AUDACITY to catch an attitude and stop serving you when you call them out on it. Def not going back.
google avatar

Lindsay W.

Yelp
It's a wonderful concept and the atmosphere is actually very positive, that is only if you can get past the HUGE crowd in the front. There are two bars and the bartenders were pretty on top of things. The games they had were cool but wasn't able to play any because of how crowded it was. They were also a little outdated, but the basket ball hoops were cool and everyone loved the punching machine. Just be careful, the drinks are SUPER expensive and can cost you $100 in a flash. It may be because I don't visit Ft Lauderdale that often but compared to my area in FL drinks aren't that much. Overall it was fun, it was super loud though and not many people were dancing which I was looking for that night. I'd suggest going during the week or earlier on the weekend with some friends and hang out, it was a lovely place!

Nicole M.

Yelp
Don't let the oversized Jenga fool you. Just like Carley A. a few reviews down, I too had the problem of my phone being stolen. Given how 2020 is going, it truly was the icing on the cake to be celebrating Thanksgiving hungover and phoneless. I should be able to wander around any bar with my phone in my purse and a smile on my face (under my mask of course) - but it was quite the opposite. As Carley A. said "I advise you to only attend this bar if your phone is due for an upgrade," so Booze Garden - I will see you in two years. (2 stars because I'm weak for oversized Jenga)
google avatar

Krystal H.

Yelp
I think my expectations going in there were a little too high.... it's a nice vibe but I thought it had food at least lol... the drinks are ok at best but very pricey $60 for 3 drinks... but I guess the games are a good touch...
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
Loved this place. Music, games, guys, and... well... booze. What else could you want?! lol
google avatar

Joe E.

Yelp
OK, so I'll be honest... I am a friend of the owners. BUT, that doesn't matter 1 bit. I will give a completely fair and honest review. This is the best spot in Himmarshee (Fort Lauderdale). It's a beer garden + booze... hence the name. They have artificial turf, pinball machines, basketball, and more games for you to play. The music vibe is great as well. FYI... I'm a semi-retired professional DJ. I actually enjoy going to Booze Garden and hearing the playlist of 90s alternative, grunge, punk, rock, and even some of that softer crap from the 2000s. It's refreshing to go to a place that's a little different with the atmosphere. My only criticism is: 1) I wish the place was a little bigger 2) More craft breweries are needed on tap, we need to link up with 2 or 3 of the breweries that are right down the street. A+++ Great Times, Great People!
google avatar

Madeline M.

Yelp
This was a really fun spot on a Sunday night! The games were free, and the atmosphere was very cool. Booze Garden was a laid back spot, but the music was all throwback which made people sing and even dance a little! My only complaint is that there was not any beer on tap, only in cans and bottles.

Tim R.

Yelp
Only giving 1 star cause I cant give 0. Went to Booze Garden and was honestly having a good time until I met one of their bouncers whom I bumped into by accident. Now, Im all for removing unruly drunken patrons from an establishment, but all I did was bump into him in a crowded bar...there wasn't much room to stand anywhere. I was shouted at and physically removed before I had time to even find my friends. I am not from the area and was left lost and confused outside after being aggressively pushed and screamed at by someone twice my size. All he had to do was ask me to stand somewhere else and I happily would've moved. Awful bar with bouncers on power trips and I will never go back.

Yelp
This place has an awful smell, they need to change the carpet. It smells like wet dog! Good music, atmosphere and prices tho!
google avatar

Yelp
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! Be careful of the day Hispanic looking security guard. My friends & I went too have a good time & got turned around because our friend supposedly didn't look like her ID (when she was the oldest out of us all). Not only did he turn us around but he SLUNG her f on the ground because she voiced her opinion & called him a jackass. Never AGAIN. We even asked for the manager & supposedly he is the "head of security". Pls be careful ladies

Yelp
Beautiful and hip venue with friendly and approachable staff. Generous drinks at a great price! A must go and my new hangout spot in Broward

Yelp
This place is so cool! Super original combination of vibes. There's games like mini basketball and pinball. There's also a photo booth! They have tvs which is cool because they play sports games. Majority of the ambiance an outdoor vibe with plush patio couches and fake grass. They had high tops to sit at too in addition to their full bar. The only downside is that this place is really small! So it fills up fast. I was lucky enough to go when it wasn't too crowded and REALLY enjoyed it. Plus, they had a special going: buy a single get a double. How could I resist?;)
