We hiked down from Griffith Observatory and looked for a lunch spot and found Boran Thai. The room is decorated nicely and the older man took my photo simulating getting into a tuk tuk. We had Shrimp Tom Yum soup and pad Thai - both exquisitely delicious.

Google
Amazing food matched with amazing service. Our meal was so delicious, cooked perfectly and just the right level of spice. We had red curry, spicy Tom kha soup, pad Thai, papaya salad, drunken noodles and finished off with mango sticky rice. Would definitely go back again

Google
Very good authentic Thai restaurant close to Griffin Observatory. We called the restaurant ahead for a large party and they are gracious enough to host us on a busy Sunday afternoon. The did a fantastic job of serving us. The service is very good and she served with a smile throughout without missing the beat. The food is very good, tasty, and everything is cooked to our order. We really had a great time and enjoyed the food very much.

Excellent portions, excellent food. Very friendly and attentive service. They made me feel like I was in Thailand. I recommend this place. 1000% authentic Thai products with the same delicious flavor.

Google
Solid late-night Thai spot in Hollywood (open til 10). I was craving boat noodles after a long day at work and this place definitely hit the spot. The khao soi is a must-try too—rich, flavorful, and comforting. If you’re looking for a place that satisfies those late-night cravings, this is it. Bonus: the hospitality here is genuinely top-notch.

Google
Underwhelming for me, maybe I had a one-off experience. The pad Thai was very bland and the noodles were all stuck together/gummy. My friend got the gravy/tofu dish, which was better at least. Small restaurant with little seating. Service and staff were okay. Portions were good. For the price I had hoped for more.

Google
Absolutely enjoyed the lunch we had here. Decided to stop by and try something new and discovered an authentic Thai restaurant with the best service! Food was delicious and rich in flavor and even ordered some more to take home. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came on a winter day so was looking for something warm and cozy. I was going to order a curry, but my friend -- who frequents here -- recommended the khao soy. I'm glad she did! I got it with chicken and it was flavorful and delicious! I loved the splash of lime, the creamy soul and the mild heat. The crispy fried dough strips are larger than I've seen elsewhere and I appreciated the added extra crunch. And the noodles cooked perfectly al dente! The place is small but easily accommodated our party of four. The hostess was so gracious. We initially had anticipated a party of five and so she cleaned a larger table specifically for us. Then our party shranked to just four, and she was fine with the switchback to our initial table. Parking is street but relatively easy to find on weekends.

Yelp
This is the fantastic Thai restaurant in LA. I guarantee the quality of the food and the service here. I would recommend everything here because I love every dish here ;)

Yelp
Excellent food and a family owned atmosphere. This was one of the first places I went when I moved into the neighborhood and it's been my go to ever since. The staff are always great and the food is always good. I will continue to come here for as long as I remain in the area.

Yelp
Great thai restaurant - flavors feel very authentic. Got the green curry, and everything was perfectly executed. Not too thick and not too thin. Balanced amount of spice, and ample amount of meat/veggies. Serving size was large. Service was great and restaurant is clean. Parking is a bit tough, but would definitely come back and try other items.

Yelp
I know this is a niche type of restaurant. Cute little art all around the place. Very intimate and nice lil customers sitting inside at each table. The service is great and so is the food. Hollywood style

Yelp
Best food. Best service. Best Thai food ever. You have to try this place! It is sooooo good.

Yelp
I ordered delivery on Grubhub - the Pad See Ew, egg rolls, and Tai tea - and sadly this was some of the worst Thai I've ever had. The noodles were slimy and overcooked. The egg rolls were greasy and left the grease taste in your mouth and the Thai tea was some how not good either. Bland and just not tasty. I hate to give a restaurant a bad review because I am a small business owner myself, but given that it was so bad, I have to share my experience in hopes they will do better.

Yelp
A delicious dinner and a lovely establishment! I loved my recent dining experience at Boran. On a Saturday evening around 7pm, there was no wait and plenty of free street parking available. We ordered: Papaya salad 5/5 - I LOVE papaya salad and they do it so well here! I ordered it mild and can tell that they only put in one chili which was very much appreciated because 1 chili already felt a little bit spicy for me. The papaya salad was SUPER flavorful, crispy, fresh, and hit the spot. Salmon Penang curry 4/5 - very interesting! The salmon penang curry is one of the signature dishes and comes with a bowl of rice. The penang curry is creamy, flavorful, and vibrant. It's a bit salty, but pairs very well with rice. They served it with a slab of salmon that felt a little overcooked in my humble opinion, as well as, lots of steamed broccoli. The veggies felt a bit random, but the curry itself was so good. Boat noodles 2/5 - if you've never had boat noodles (like me), it felt very similar to pho. They use rice noodles and it's served in a hearty brown stock with plenty of chicken and meatballs. This was my least favorite because the stock was super salty and the chicken was very overcooked/dry. The noodles were flavorful and tasty though! Service was wonderful! Very attentive, super friendly, and they just felt like kind human beings. If you're ever in the area, you should definitely give Boran's a try!

Yelp
Boran Thai is one of my favorite local Thai food spots in the Hollywood studio district. The food is always freshly prepared, generously portioned, and reasonably priced. This time I decided to try something new and ordered the Seven Seas Soup which is a seafood soup with a clear citrusy lime both similar to Tom yum soup except it's not spicy. I believe it has 7 types of seafood such as chunks of crabmeat, tilapia, sole fish, shrimp, clams, mussel, and octopus. The Gai Kua noodles are ok, a little bland compared to pad Thai or pad see ew and some of my noodles and egg tasted burnt. I like that they package the soups carefully and use sustainable containers for delivery orders, however it would be helpful to include utensils and napkins as well.

Yelp
I tried the yellow curry for my first time ordering from here. I didn't really like it. Something in the flavor was a bit off. Each bite there's a weird hint of like a sour vomit flavor. I can't quite figure out what's making it taste like that. I was going to save the rest for lunch tomorrow but I don't think I can bring myself to eat any more of it. I won't be ordering from here again

Yelp
Wonderful food. Wonderful service. I had the pineapple fried rice vegetarian style. My husband had drunken noodles and he won't shut up about how good they are lol. There are car chargers nearby in the parking garage.

Yelp
Small and nice restaurant along Hollywood Boulevard. The waitress was friendly and nice. Service was quickly. The food was a good portion.

Yelp
A sis of mine discovered this dope hole in the wall spot, when looking for some Thai food and honestly this place did NOT disappoint. The inside was so nice and cozy looking and I love how they decorated the place! Now to the food, I had gotten the crab meat fried rice and yoooo it was SO GOOD. The flavor was immaculate, it was a great portion and it didn't leave me grossly full. Plus the service was very hospitable, from the moment we walked. I for sure want to come back because it was that good.
google avatar

Lexie D.

Yelp
Great food and large portion size for the cost. Attentive server as well! Not too crowded every time I've been, compared to other spots on the same street. Can't go wrong with the Yellow Curry, pad Thai, or pad see ew, among others.

Yelp
I was picking up food for me and my friend who recommended this place. Calling to order was easy to do and when I arrived I realized I did not have my debit card. I was frantic and asked if they had any other options to pay. Luckily they do take Apple Pay which saved me from having to drive around to get cash. It's Hollywood so parking is not as easy to find but there is street parking available. The restaurant is small but have tables where you can dine in. When I went in there were quite a few people eating there. Customer service was top notch too. We ordered their Shumai, Boat Noodles and Boran Noodles. Let me just say all of it was so delicious, flavorful and just so comforting. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to try other dishes from them!

Yelp
Stopped by after our hike to the Hollywood Sign. Khao Soi Curry Beef Noodles were pretty good! It came with pickled mustard greens, slices of red onions, and a wedge of lime. Small restaurant with street parking. Great service.

Yelp
Service is really nice! Soup is what I have been ordering at Thai spots lately and this one was simple, good, and very filling. Garlicky filled with flavor green veggies and shrimp wonton. Very good in flavor. First time here. The prices are fair. Located in Thai Town LA surrounded by tons of retail and eats but this spot took us in. Will def come here again if we are hungry and in the area. A bowl of soup did not disappoint.

Yelp
Very nice and pleasant little place to spend wonderful food and conversations with friends. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. I had a Pad Thai (beef and chicken) + a Thai Iced tea, and both food and drink were wonderfully tasty. The Pad Thai portion was perfect, plus I loved that they put a lot of beef and chicken in there. So, I got my protein macros and my carbs lol! Hot food, good textures and flavor, not spicy, excellent. I've never tried Thai Tea before and I think it was very good, it had the perfect amount of sweetness and it was super refreshing at the same time. My husband had the mango with sweet sticky rice dessert which was superb. My friend got the Jungle Curry Noodle which seemed very tasty and rich in flavor as well.

Yelp
Love this place, the staff and the food! Super friendly staff, excellent food, and fast preparation. Highly recommend!

Yelp
On Wednesday 8/30/2023. 12:30PM. I walked in for Togo order. I approached to the one young lady at casher and told her that I'd like to order for Togo. But she didn't say any word and just hand me a menu with ANGRY FACE. While I speak to her at casher, all the while, she looked so angry and looked seems trouble some. But while I was waiting for my food, she was talking to her co-worker with smiling and laughing. Finally, when my food was ready, she didn't smile at all. Terrible and SUPER RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! And my PHO NOODLE WAS ALL SHREDDED I was so disappointed I will never come back to this place!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic find! Tom kha with chicken had amazing flavor depth with the perfect amount of onion and mushrooms. The crispy pork fried rice was fresh snd light without even a of heavy oil. The chicken chow mein was authentic. The yellow curry's veggies were perfectly cooked. Do not miss the mango sticky rice!!!

Yelp
On a street packed with Thai food, this place stands out as easily the best choice. So happy I chose this place over the other options for sure! Super nice and AMAZING service.

Mary R.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service! The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The service alone would be enough for me to come back. But it helps that the food was also amazing - Pad Thai was the best I've had in a while. 10/10 recommend to others looking for a great Thai spot!

Yelp
I order from here at least a once a week. I haven't ever had anything that I didn't like. I usually choose one of the curries, either red or green, and make sure that it's spicy because I like some heat. The spicy Thai fried rice is also delicious, as well as the pad see ew when I am craving noodles. I like to add shrimp to that one because it just works with the flavor. The pork jerky, dumplings, and crab wontons are also the perfect additions to every meal. One of the reasons I keep ordering from here is that it its always quick, accurate, and flavorful, plus they give you so much food for what you order, I always have a second meal.

Ana R.

Yelp
The padthai is the bomb. The crab rangoon is tasty. You can locate this easily. The server is very friendly and even got to chat with them.

Yelp
COVID special $5 each (cash only, tax added after): Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Noodle Soup (Boat, or Boran style). Call to order. They do take credit card, but the price would reflect full price menu no matter how much you order. Thanks to Nick C. Yelper for the $5 tip via seeing it in the review! Food is clean, better quality than many other Thai restaurant. It would be rated as one of my top 3 cleaner, better quality Thai foods in the area. $15.42 for 3 items. Everything is decent. Boran noodle soup: Good. Boat noodle soup: Good. Pad Thai: Cleaner, less greasy than other restaurants. The taste is good. It is not as saturated as the heavy sweet and sour taste that many tourist crave for. There isn't as much garnishes in it as other places. I really really never crave Pad Thai, and probably eat it maybe once a year or less due of friends craving it. My experience with Thai Food....just as a local resident in the area. I've eaten southern style Thai food in Thailand, but I am not expert. There is alot alot of bad quality but super intense tasting places that are not for me. This place is for me.

Yelp
Came by last week for their $5 pandemic menu with other restaurants in the Thai Town Council, and I was more than pleased! Note, the menu is cash-only & take-out only, and I'm not 100% sure if it was extended beyond their original end date of Sunday 4/19. Anyhow we had their tofu pad see ew, veggie pad see ew, and tofu pad thai, and all were delicious. Plus, the portions are huge! Wait time was about 20-30 minutes fyi, and everyone was wearing gloves and masks when I came to pickup the food. Thank you Boran Thai for a great meal at home, and looking forward to be back again!
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Made the trip to thai town for the special pandemic menu! Really great specials and supporting local restaurants. We got: -boran noodles, nice broth and toppings, asked for medium but not spicy at all -beef pad see ew, beef was a little dry but standard pad see ee -tofu pad thai, good amount of tofu -spicy chicken basil, favorite dish nice flavor from the basil and chili -mango sticky rice always a favoritr dessert Really good taste and quanity. Will definity be back, lets support these small local restaurants!

Yelp
Ordered a pad Thai, won sun glass noodle salad, and boat noodles. The air conditioning was broken but they kept it pretty cool inside with a fan, I have long hair so it was a little annoying having the fan blowing my hair around, but greatful for the fan keeping us cool in the hot weather. The pad Thai was average and decent. The glass noodle salad was really good but served on a small plate with a small portion. The best thing there was the Thai boat noodles. Although the bowl was only filled halfway, we were still satisfied. The boat noodles were really flavorful and good we finished it to the last drop. Would come back here for the boat noodles:

Yelp
My girlfriend and I recommend the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Thai Ice Tea was great too. The Mango Sticky rice was freshly made and served warm. Great value for the price.

Yelp
I came by for lunch today since I've been craving some Thai food. This seems to be a Thai-Chinese restaurant since there were some Chinese dishes like shumai and Chinese broccoli on the menu. I ordered pad thai Boran (no bean sprouts) and shrimp in a blanket. The pad thai Boran comes with shrimp and crispy pork so there's no need to add meat to the dish. My 2 dishes came out around the same time. The shrimp in a blanket was crispy and there were 5 pieces, which made it worth the price. The sauce was the real star of the shrimp in a blanket. The pad thai Boran portion was a bit smaller than I was hoping for but it was still pretty decent. I do wish that the pad thai had a bit more flavor to it since it seemed to be lacking the usual tanginess of pad thai.

Nichole M.

Yelp
If I could say zero stars, I would. This was the worst Thai food I heave ever eaten. no flavor. When I added "hot sauce" or was rancid. Fairly certain that my salmon had freezer burn and even the vegetables were previously frozen. I had a friend in from out of town and wanted to try something new--I was embarrassed to have brought her here. To top it off, after dinner when I had to use the restroom a cockroach that was 2" long scurried towards me and was clearly comfortable in its habitat. This was not only the worst Thai food restaurant I have ever visited (and I have had a lot of Thai food!!), but the worst dining experience that I can remember.

Erik S.

Yelp
Great food, great service, chill vibes. Prices were great idk what else to say this shi bussin!

Yelp
Let me just start off by saying, I'm by no means a picky eater and I RARELY rate places I go to. However, this experience was SO BAD that I had to let others know, because I lost my appetite and ate a donut for dinner instead. Lets start off with the service. We got here to buy food To-Go about an hour before closing. The short lady at the register was very pressuring and not very helpful. Seems like she absolutely did not want to be there anymore, and she was right because she let us know she's overworked. She started coughing so hard, everywhere, and to the point where she had to stop taking our order because she kept coughing. She came back with minor coughs ready again, and we attempted to order. But then she started coughing again... ok... I'm fully vaccinated, but doesn't mean I'm okay with coughing where I'm about to buy food I'm about to eat with my family and elderly parents. She continued to cough, and apologized stating that she's COVID negative, and also told us she's very overworked and can't take a vacation or break because no one else can take over. She was not nice at all during this entire experience and was just trying to pressure us to leave so we cut our order short and skipped out on ordering more stuff. After, we sat down, she continued to cough cus she was clearly very sick and overworked. The food was served pretty quickly, and she brought it to us. We asked for extra sauce, and were quickly denied because she said "there's already sauce in the bag". Okay... asked for chili oil peppers, and just got peppers, no chili oils. :( Okay, so this place has a lot of good reviews, it must be good right? Did we just get unlucky??? Well the bad luck continues... we got home and unpacked our food and bam, burnt food. So much disappointment, if the food was good I would've easily skipped the bad review and sucked up the terrible service. But the fact that we STILL got burnt food. The bad experience started the moment she first opened her mouth to us, all the way to when we tried eating the food at home. We had to scavenge throughout the food to find the non-burnt pieces of noodle to atleast try it. Seems like it would've been good if it didn't smell like burnt and tasted like burnt. Again, I understand the pandemic can put restaurants through a rut. I also get the food service industry can be a difficult place to work in. But the lady was not nice. She was CLEARLY too sick and overworked. I would've not been nearly as harsh if she was atleast nice to us and didn't try to get rid of us as quick as she could. The food was thrown away and no part of the experience was pleasant. A shame we were really close between this and another Thai restaurant nearby and chose this one. I hope she can take a break or maybe hire an extra employee. I also wish the food wasn't burnt. :( wish the experience was as good as all the other reviews said it would be.

P T.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Friendly staff. Food was excellent and good quality. I was a little disappointed with the phad Thai. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. Will definitely be returning though.

Yelp
At the recommendation of my friend, who lives in Thai Town LA, we came here. As Thai is my favorite cuisine I hold my bar high, and Boran delivered. From the Creamy coconut Tom Kha to the perfectly peppery Pad Thai and saucy, sweet and spicy Pad See Ew to the succulent, sweet mango sticky rice. The curries were just right, flavorful and packed with punch (be mindful of what you're asking for when you ask for it spicy!) We will come here again and again, even though it's not close to anything near us. This food is worth seeking out.
google avatar

Miguel D.

Yelp
It's always good to find good places to go have lunch specially restaurants like this one when the service and the food was really good. I've tried coconut soup in so many places but this one was one of my favorites. Highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
This place was great! Crispy pork being the highlight - you have to get it if you're there. It came in the special pad Thai I got. They also had a 6.99 chicken lunch special you might want to check out as well.

Ti C.

Yelp
The food was very good and the wait staff were very nice. We got seated quickly and the inside is cozy and cute
google avatar

Irene S.

Yelp
I always come here for lunch and call in ahead, the food is really delicious. When you ask for spicy- it'll be pretty spicy so be wary of your spice choice. Im a fan of the fried rice and the tom yum!
google avatar

alex d.

Yelp
I love coming here to eat. The only hassle is the location. They have a (very small) parking in the back but be careful, one side is for the apartments next door. I wouldnt risk parking at Ralphs because sometimes they tow your car. The food is always good but some better than others. Just know what you order. If you tip well they will remember your face. :)
google avatar

Katherine X.

Yelp
Came here with a friend, it wasn't busy at all and was able sit wherever. Got yellow curry and the catfish and a veggie dish. The catfish was good and came with a good spicy sauce. Curry was pretty standard and good. The place was small but enough room for 2 of us, the only complaint is that it was a cold and rainy day and the door didn't shut all the way so it was a bit cold inside. Parking was found on the street

Missy R.

Yelp
Food was filling and delicious. The crab cheese was great, loved that it was in a filo sheet. Pad Thai Boran was scrumptious. The pork was crispy and flavorful, can't go wrong with tofu... And noodles were tangy. Also had the combination rice, was great. Had plenty of flavor and meats . Would Reccommended. Restroom was clean, but small(down the dark corridor).. There was parking in the back. Server was friendly.

Leslye R.

Yelp
Their sweet sticky rice with mango desert was out of this world. all the food we order was fresh and you could taste the freshness within each bite. This will be my go to spot when I come back and visit
google avatar

Anita V.

Yelp
The egg rolls and pad Thai are amazing. I always order this combination every time I go to the cigar lounge next door.

TK Y.

Yelp
Prettty good so far. Pad Thai slightly sweet but most places are. Small place but you can park nearby at Ralph's
