Border Grill

This is the first time I’ve ever felt embarrassed about the meal I brought home. “Gourmet” bowls for $12/each?! Half full, small scoop of rice and protein, old guacamole - really?! Looked like slop. I even ordered ahead from the website since my wife and newborn were at home and I wanted to have a quick pick up - nope - had to wait 15 minutes after my pick up time. Truly disappointing experience. Management should be ashamed of the product and customer experience they are providing for the good people of Marquette. Your money is spent better elsewhere.

Was in Marquette on Saturday for the UP Finals wrestling tournament...this place was where the boys chose to go. We gladly followed. Our first time there. What a MAJOR disappointment. Spent nearly thirty dollars for my husband and I to each have two tacos and chips with "salsa". I ordered the carnitas Verde, hubby had Korean bbq tacos.not only did it take forever to get 4 tacos (mind you, the family we were with had a party of four and got their food before us) but when we did get it...it would have been more satisfying to eat the snow banks outside. We were stationed in El Paso TX for five years, I know a lot about "American Mexican" food. I make carnitas at home all the time, and people rave about it. My tacos were so bland. It was basically A LOT of pulled pork with some garnish. No seasoning whatsoever. Hubbys Korean tacos were overly sweet, no Asian heat that should have been. The "salsa" was a weird orange sauce with no heat or flavor. I had one taco only because I was starving. I threw the rest away. They were way over staffed, with most of them standing around or moving slow. I will never eat there again, and will encourage everyone I know to avoid that place like the plague. We actually ended up driving over to McDonald's to try to at least get some food in our bodies (it was bad as well, I'm heading over to their reviews to share as well). Please do not eat here. My husband said, maybe it's because I did not TIP the cashier enough. I said, "why would you tip the person at the counter who literally just punched our order into a computer???" Tipping culture is out of control. We did not have a server. It runs similar to Culver's, they take your order, you get your own drinks, napkins, etc, they bring the food to your numbered table. Culver's doesn't ask me to tip. Border grille is a joke.

I online ordered a border burrito with flower tortillas and they gave me some sort of bowl that was clearly not a border burrito and also very coldm. The corn tortillas where disgusting and crumbly. When i returned it and tried to get what i actually ordered they made me a new bowl and told me thats what i ordered. Quality has gone downhill ALOT recently and i wont be eating here again.

First time visit. Everything was done fresh and all our meals were solid. We had a Carne Asada and Koren BBQ bowl, then the kids had quesadillas. Their border salsa was great with their freshly made tortilla chips, we're looking forward to our next visit to try other items!

The one stop we have when returning "home" to Marquette, is Border Grill. Our order is typically 5+ Burritos & 5-6 orders of large chips & Border Salsa (a family favorite). We aren't in a hurry, are happy to wait, and have always thought that the prices were well worth it - until now. We loved the multi-colored chips (taste & consistency) but have adjusted to the newer plain version. While not as good, we've accepted them in order to enjoy our Border Salsa. Not anymore... they were so full of salt that all of the bags were completely inedible. We brushed them off in an attempt to salvage - nope, they were that terrible. The Border Salsa has also changed. No red pepper flakes, no zip or character - just bland. The burritos were okay but our favorite aspect of burrito consumption was the Border Salsa so... meh. It's been declining for some time & we've been holding on. Growth isn't good if you sacrifice quality. Border Grill will unfortunately be removed from our "must have" UP list.

The gourmet bowl was so salty it tasted like someone just dumped a salt shaker in it (absolutely digusting). Steak was tough. The food here used to be amazing, now it has went downhill. Seems like there are no standards in place.

They need to do a road trip to Chipotle in Green Bay to see how to make a burrito in less than an hour. They have one person taking orders, one cook, one making the burrito, another person packing it into a bag, and three people to get it from the prep area to me. It blows my mind how inefficient this place is. My drink warmed to room temp by the time I got my food!!! $30 for one burrito and chips???? To be clear, this is no fault of the staff, they are doing what they are told to do, this is a process and efficiency issue. I started by saying to look at how Chipotle operates - they serve nearly an identical menu, and I am quite certain the number of customers is on par with your busiest days. Look at your recent reviews here - you seem to be addressing similar concerns quite often. Maybe it's time to re-think your workflow? AND THEN, WAS COLD WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT.

In town for work and stopped for dinner. First time, and it didn't disappoint. I got the Grande bowl with extra chicken and a small chips n salsa. Food came out quick, the ingredients where fresh and overall delicious. I will be back next time I am in town.

Definitely not authentic but definitely delicious! Their menu is creative, offers a good variety of options, and they have a wide selection of sauces. I tried two different tacos (Korean BBQ and Red Chile Brisket-both were delicious), and got a large order of chips and queso, and a large side of border sauce (their best salsa, hands down!!). Tons of food, the tacos were packed with toppings, all made to order and piping hot. The restaurant is a big open space, you can see into the kitchen and watch the workers make your food. Many seating options available between upstairs and downstairs. Great spot to check out while in town!

The worst restaurant i ever ate at. My cheese quesadilla was almost void of cheese. The sause was awful, the chips were cold and stale. You could not pay me to eat there again.

Easy to find in Marquette. It's fast casual, but with lots of homemade components. We took it to go for a Lake Superior shore side picnic. We tried a kids chicken quesadilla, nachos, and a chicken burrito. It's pricey, but consider that a high percentage of it is homemade. The drink choices are unique. There are 3-4 concoctions made with anti-oxidants which were tasty and healthy. The counter service is super friendly as well.

Food was okay. I wanted to try out this local restaurant that has a few locations in the UP. The portions are really small (half the size of chipotle or qdoba) while costing a decent amount more. Also you can't pick your salsa unless you pay extra. every item has a designated salsa it comes with .... and pico de Gallo counts as the salsa for a burrito bowls. In the photo you can see the amount of black beans put in the bowl. It's mostly just lettuce

Excellent food and Excellent service every time! Staff are very friendly. I also recommend getting a side of chips & queso with your meal. The queso is bomb!

Phenomenal! The building architecture is modern and inviting. We walked in and were promptly greeted by an employee who held the door for us with a smile. Once inside, we perused the menu and I instantly knew the Avocobbo salad was what I would order. The kids carnitas taco with beans, kids quesadilla with Mexican rice, the shrimp burrito and chips with queso were also amongst our order. Everything was fantastic. The wait to receive our food was normal and the person who brought it to us was friendly and made sure everything was correct. The Border Salsa was good. Different than the average salsa but yummy. The restaurant was clean and my family will definitely return when in the Marquette area or near their other two locations. Border Grill needs to come down to SouthEast MI.

It's a good alternative to chipotle. Service was good. Has an upstairs, so plenty of seating. The salsa is obviously from a can. Overall really clean inside and out.

Quick and delicious Mexican food. Many gluten free options and fresh ingredients, all made from scratch. Especially love their Fuego Chicken Quesadillas and Grande Bowls.

I've been going here for years but recently every time I order I'm disappointed. The burritos and wraps are mainly tortilla and parts of it are even cold. Not even warm enough to melt the cheese they put in it. Sadly for the price of them I'd consider going else wear.

We ordered take out tonight and it was wonderful. The entire experience was lovely. The person who took our order was very attentive and helpful. I have Celiac and she was so helpful when my husband placed the order. She double checked items and informed us they would change gloves! Such a kind person. Pick up was easy and the food was delicious! A bright spot on our trip!

I always make it a point to stop by whenever I'm back in town! My brother decided to get the border burrito which looked very tasty. Then I had a chicken quesadilla which was delicious! There was a perfect amount of cheese and seasoning on the chicken. On other visits I've also had the chicken caesar wrap so that's another great item to try. Plus the border salsa is always a must have with your meal regardless of what you order! I wish they'd open one downstate by me so I could have it more often!

Glad I stopped in for dinner today. I was greeted as soon as I came in and a young lady helped me make selections from the menu. I settled on a Grande burrito after choosing the shredded beef. The burrito did not disappoint. It was large enough that I took half with me. It comes with tortilla chips and something to put on the burrito. The only thing I would recommend for a change would be the addition of more than one hot sauce choice. Great food and knowledgeable/friendly staff. I will stop again next time I am in Marquette. Trust.

Good food, even if they don't always get the order right. Not a very user friendly menu. It's extremely expensive in my mind. But as we don't have one near, we like to order once every 6 months or so . Their pork (carnita?) in a big old burrito is my choice

The service was very efficient and the burritos were delicious. My hubby and I were skeptical of a drive-thru restaurant and were hoping it wasn't typical fast food. The burrito didn't disappoint. We ended up eating here three times while in Marquette. Border Burrito

I call this the "in between restaurant ". Not fast food and not sit down and order. Food is fresh, fast, and made to order. Have been here a few times when in Mqt. and has never disappointed and quality has always been there. Never had a problem with service and always clean and polite!!! Burritos are great , tacos are great and my wife says the salads or burrito bowls are good. On a plus note.........I can get a beer!!! Taco Bell can't do that!!! Menu seems to have something for everyone and lots of options. This is not gourmet,but is prepared fresh and no out of the can or box items, other than maybe chips. This is the Taco Bell for people Adults !!! I mean that in a good way!!! Slammer!!!

Food was ok. But restaurant experience would be much better without having to listen to Kathy cackle and spread her lies about her car accident to diners (who didn't care) and then watching her hang up with customers who ask questions then make fun of them to the other staff. Not cool.

Great quick Tex-mex/Mexican place. The food tastes very fresh, the spice level is on point. The service was very quick and friendly. I'm definitely going to be a regular here while I'm in town!

i ordered three items and all three were terrible, both my burritos fell apart and were just drenched and my salad was mushy

Ordered a White Fish Burrito through door dash and received the wrong item. Oh well, stuff happens. Called the local Border Grill while I was in my car on my way to swap it out for the correct one. The lady on the phone (Cassie) told me that I needed to call Door Dash and have them come get my wrong order and then bring me the correct order. That's a head ache as it wasn't me who placed the order originally so I asked if I could just come to the store and swap out as I was almost there. After a brief hold she told me that she checked on the order and it was actually the correct item I received originally and that the order must have been placed incorrectly on my end. "There's nothing we can do." All I'm saying is whip up another burrito for a guy. I was so looking forward to this! I recognize the margins have got to be razor thin at Border Grill. It's only totally packed 24/7 but try to understand I'm not running a long con burrito scam here. I just wanted to enjoy a delicious seafood burrito with white fish during a company paid lunch. Apparently, I did that incorrectly. I will not be participating with Border Grill in any fashion going forward.

Awesome Mexican restaurant fast food style. Not a sit down chip and salsa typical restaurant.

Tonight I ordered dinner online for my family of four for curbside pickup. I was almost out the door with my two small children when I realized that my husband (who works late) had our vehicle with car seats. I called the restaurant, with no expectation for a refund; but just to notify them that I would not be picking up my order. I spoke with the store manager who cancelled my order and gave me a full refund for our meals. They did not have to do this, as they were going to lose money for preparing food that was not going to be paid for. This was truly a kind gesture that is greatly appreciated!

Yum yum yum! Try to the grande burrito with pork. It exceeded my expectations. Also the avacobbo salad is insane good. Prices are great and they have $2 beer and $2 tacos on thursdays at this location. Yum!

¡Qué delicioso! Gluten-Free options are available. Became obsessed with the GF Chipoltle Chicken Quesadilla on a recent visit home; ate there 4 outta 7 days, which is a record for me... For years I've avoided the BG, mainly because 5 years ago I found a spider crawling in my salad. They've since rebuilt & expanded...& got rid of spiders.

I am loving this place whenever I am in the mood for Mexican it's my go to place very healthy and great portions if you know what to buy

Great food, big portions, amazing prices. Really impressed with their pandemic policies/practices at this location. Staff was super nice, I wish I knew our cashiers name to call them out for being extra helpful.

Alright, this place is where it's at! I lived in Marquette for 3 years while going to Northern and completely took this place for granted. Now that I can no longer have a side of Border salsa to make whatever I'm eating infinitely better, I have to admit, I'm a little sad. Border Grill has everything a community like this could want. It has a exactly what every post rider craves: delicious tacos and beer! Or take it to go and chill out at a nearby brewery, that's cool too! The food is fresh and get this, it actually looks like the advertisements, unlike that sloppy thing that high school kid slapped together at Hamburger Heaven last week. The ambiance of this place is awesome- Very open, roomy with an upstairs, and a great view of the area. The Washington building is WAY better than the Third St location, just because of size alone. The only way I'd go to the Third St location is if I was ordering to go.

The food is better than I remember it! It has been 10 years, but I finally made it back to MQT and this was my first stop for food. It took me back to my college days. Y'all, this food is good. I was a little worried it wouldn't be as good as I remembered it back then because all I had to compare it to in those days was campus food and late night intoxicated visits (always have a designated driver) to McDonalds. Try the Grande burrito. You won't be sorry. Share it with a friend if you want or don't and stuff yourself silly like I did. Bonus: Border salsa is unique, one of a kind, and full of awesomeness, just like da UP, eh!?

Enjoy this restaurant a lot, great for a cheap meal when you don't feel like cooking. However, I am very disappointed that they took tofu off the menu but still have 8 different meat options. Not many vegan/vegetarian food options in Marquette so sad to see this go.

We returned a day later :) It was great. I had a burrito and shared an appetizer of nachos. We will definitely return when we visit Marquette.

The food are amazing but but the thing is that the price were OK but but it was like a little bit overly pricey but but otherwise the food are amazing also the best and healthy But I don't know about the price it was kind of a little bit overly price!

Food is as good as I remember it. I haven't been here since the late 1990's when it was in a different location in town. It is a much bigger spot now and the food is still excellent. Very clean atmosphere. Burritos and quesadillas are excellent. Recommended.

I eat at Border Grill more than any other restaurant, and I am never disappointed! For quick, Tex-mex food (usually no more than 10-15 minute wait at most), I am consistently impressed with the deliciousness of the food (veggie burrito is my go-to). It is also reasonably priced for what the amount and quality of food you get. I recommend Border Grill to anyone who is looking for "Mexican" based cuisine! And if you haven't yet, try their sauces (the border sauce is the classic one and my favorite)!

Best discovery ever!! I'm a huge Chipotle/Qdoba/Mexican eater and this place impressed. The food was delicious and fresh. Service was quick and very helpful. There are vegetarian options. It's a combo between a traditional Mexican restaurant and your usual fast casual places. And they have beer! Can't wait to go back.

Let me just start by saying the food here is amazing. The food is very good for the price and it's very fast as well. Yes don't think i've ever waited any longer for twenty minutes. The customer service has always been good and the employees are very friendly. The border salsa is amazing and goes with just about everything and it's almost good enough to drink. Overall I 100% recommend it.

Now, we're talking about mexican food in the UP of Michigan. This isn't gonna be mexicantown in Detroit. That being said, Border Grill is awesome. I'm usually tentative on trying the fast-ish food mexican restaurants in different towns because you never really know what you're in for. This place was so good I had to go back a second time during my week vacation in Marquette. The salsa tastes a little weird but in a good way. I think the color just throws off your brain a little. I got a carne asada burrito both times and it was delicious. The salsa fuego they put on it is hot but not mouth burning and is perfectly complemented with the sour cream on the burrito as well. The building is new and a definite step up from their old digs from what I've been told. The place is clean and modern, right down to their weird order delivery system. They've got a patio outside that I guess they have live music on too, which is a nice touch. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for A) a quick meal, B) some quality mexican, or C) a nice little lunch if you're on vacation in the UP.

Bland. Overpriced. Not enough food. The chips are like broken glass. Go find Dia de Los Tacos and get a real taco.

I honestly wasn't sure if it was possible to find a(n American) burrito as good as Chipotle but... BEHOLD! I have found it. Listen carefully. You should get a Sonora Burrito (cheddar jalapeno tortila, chicken, spinach, etc.) and then mail it to me. Express.

Quite disappointed. Never going back. I travel quite a bit for my job so I rely Yelp to point me in the right direction for excellent food or even good food. I LOVE Mexican or even Tex Mex food. I ordered the gourmet burrito w pork. I wasn't disappointed in the burrito but the side of guacamole was browned on top ( clearly out of a cooler) and the Queso and chips made my stomach turn and I paid for it the next day(see photo). The chips were obviously from a food service company and not fresh and the queso? Well let's just say it had the consistency of expired cream of something soup. Absolutely disgusting. It had the color of baby poo on a bad day and tasted worse. I of course thought "well maybe that's the way they make it?". My mistake, it was obviously microwaved and not all the way through. I threw it out but not before it made me sick. Ugh- even if you are a semi fast food place you need to pay attention to every detail of a meal. Not just the burrito. Never going back.

For a fast food Mexican place, I would rate this 5 star. I don't call it Tex Mex like others because there isn't any chili powder in my food. I tried the veggie burrito and steak taco. Love the flavor of the orange sauce. Food was fresh, hot and yummy. Good flavor, not too hot - but Tapatio on the table if you like.
