Where to Eat in the Dynamic, Diverse Neighborhood of Falls Church, Va. | Eater DC

"These Turkish favorites from the Falls Church farmers markets now have their own cafe for pastries, spreads, and even Turkish groceries. The namesake pastry, particularly the one filled with meat and tomato, is one of the best versions around, and they also have a way with thin, slightly filled flatbreads." - Missy Frederick

I had such a wonderful experience here! Hüseyin, who is not only the owner but also served us, is an amazing person. warm, welcoming, and truly passionate about what he does. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, and everything on the table was fresh and homemade. The breakfast felt authentic and full of flavor. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and delicious spot. Definitely a must visit!

Nice little Turkish restaurant that also has a small shop in it. The staff behind the counter are always welcoming and friendly. The food taste homemade with one of them gentlemen working there telling us his mother makes the boreks. Highly recommend getting a cheese borek there to eat. It is hot, crispy and salty...the perfect combo.

We've been buying groceries and enjoying BorekG's dishes for the past few years. As a Turkish person I can verify that their cooking is the closest I can find to a home-cooked Turkish meal in the DC area. Their catering services are also awesome! For our wedding we wanted the American and Turkish cultures represented in all of the food choices as a reflection of my now-wife and I. Food is very important to us and we wanted to make sure everything would be high quality. I wanted to order baklava to represent the Turkish culture. It is not easy to find good baklava in the US but BorekG definitely is one of the few places in the DMV area that makes good baklava! We ended up ordering 2 trays of baklava (~144 pieces) for 80 people. Half was with pistachios and half was with walnuts. It was an absolute hit at the wedding and everyone raved about how delicious it was. Even at the breakfast after the wedding people were snacking on them and saying how much they liked them. Coordinating with Huseyin was super easy too. He made sure that the baklava was ready to go a few days prior to the wedding and I picked it up without any issues. We highly recommend BorekG!

I love the outdoor seating setup. The food is authentic Turkish. Very delicious breakfast items plus pastries and sweets. I highly recommend for chill place and nice vibes

Google
Delicious food: I recommend the breakfast plate and hot egg plate combo - the menemen and turkish sausage eggs were great. Baklava is also outstanding and $2/each. I really liked the tahini one. Thank you for your great service, the manager was incredibly nice and friendly, so much so that it has really stood out from all my other dining experiences at other restaurants! I cannot say thank you enough!

Google
Oh my gosh! Everything was absolutely delicious. I've been searching for a place nearby (although we drove 2 hours for it :D) that could recreate the wonderful experience I had years ago in Turkey, and this restaurant was the perfect choice. We came here for breakfast and had an amazing time. We ordered several dishes, but the Su Borek is to die for! It is my favorite Turkish food and I finally could have it in here after a very long time. Whether it's made fresh daily or sourced from markets, it was simply delicious! The staff were also incredibly friendly, and the entire experience was perfect. The only little thing is that the portions could be a bit bigger, especially for the Eggs and Sucuk. But other than this, everything was great! Thank you, Borek G, for providing us with such a wonderful dining experience!

Google
Local homey cafe with inside and outside seating. They serve meals including regular entrees and breakfast as well as have Turkish pastries. I got a few baklavas and they were very tasty; light and sweet with a good proportion of nuts. The employee was very nice and welcoming. Would come again.

First time eating here and this is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the area now! The food was amazing and I loved how tasty the döner kebab was with the yoghurt garlic sauce on it. I absolutely enjoyed the whole thing, it was so delicious! The atmosphere is also perfect for eating and it was cosy with the decorations and books. The grocery section also had a great variety of Turkish snacks, drinks, and spices. The service is excellent and friendly, I highly recommend you eat here!

Yelp
Little gem in Falls Church with fresh options for brunch. Enjoyed the platter, especially the red pepper spread and the menemen (Turkish egg dish).

Yelp
Their service is great, friendly. Food sadly was just not up to par. Ordered doner kabab, it was frozen meat that was heated up. Consistency of spam. Served on a bed of plain rice, sautéed onions, bit of lettuce and tomatoes. The drizzled tsaziki sauce made it edible enough to take a few bites Friend ordered the eggplant and it didn't get touched We ordered baklava and were again disappointed. The base was more bready/cakeish. Sadly won't be coming back.

Yelp
Quaint little shop with delicious treats that are homemade by the owners and wow!!! Sadly I didn't get the name of the young gentleman who was working the counter however it's very clear that he's very proud of his family's food. We came for a light snack and ended up with a full meal of Borekg potato which was a special for the day and also a feta and spinach one. Light. Covered in sesame seeds and just delicious! We also enjoyed the roasted chicken soup served with pita and lemon and the flavors were just so perfect. The lemon added a slight sour tang and it was sensational. We had the Doner on a pita which was served with tzatziki, lettuce and tomato. Generous portion. Everything was just right. We also enjoyed a bottle of fizzy bottle of mixed fruit drink. Light. Not too sweet and refreshing. And the end of this lovely meal was with baklava and other delicious sweet treats. All were unique from other Turkish desserts I've had in the past and a pleasant surprise. The family that owns his restaurant and shop are wonderful hardworking folk with absolute warmth and care put into their food. I look forward to trying the many other delicious foods I saw there. All of this food was also very inexpensive especially considering the quantity that we had. Now I'm full and need a nap. There's plenty of searing and space here. It's not fancy but with food this great who needs fancy.....just get in there and eat!

Yelp
AMAZING service from who seemed to be an owner, a young man who was patiently filling a lot of orders while remaining engaged with customers ! A true Turkish oasis with hard to find grocery items as well as Turkish pastries (ie their unique bread items !) we did the Turkish breakfast with a egg and Turkish sausage add on. The flavors of the simit and feta and sour cherry jam took me back to turkey plus the fragrant tea and coffee... the outdoor patio is adorable and the staff was amazing - we'll be back !

Yelp
Food is ok but not what i expected. Service is almost self serve and the seating/ style is very basic. Prices are ok, i was hoping for more traditional / authentic tastes but its a bit underwhelming. I hope they improve.

Yelp
Decent spot for Turkish food. Not quite what we had in Istanbul, but close! The food wasn't quite hot when it was delivered, or likely would have tasted better. The breakfast plate was a bit underwhelming - not really sure why there's laughing cow and babybel cheeses..not at all traditional. The butter was lazily dropped into the honey and not spreadable. The Turkish tea was very fragrant, not sure which was used but we prefer the main basic black tea typically served. Parking is pretty convenient - lot next door and street parking. The staff is very pleasant and patient.

Yelp
Looking through other reviews, I really don't get the hype about this place. We drove from Baltimore and tried their breakfast stuff, which included borek and menemen. The food was okay, but definitely not memorable. What was memorable though was their super bitter, who knows when it was brewed tea. It wasn't enjoyable. The ambiance was also a big letdown. It was underwhelming and very disorganized. There was someone, who seemed to be friends with the owners watching soccer on the TV as if it were their living room. The bathroom was half renovated with unopened stuff lying around. Everything seemed halfway done. Overall it was a big disappointment both food and ambiance-wise. I hope they improve!

Yelp
I've driven by Borek-G so many times and finally went in. What a nice surprise! It's a small restaurant with a little shop at the front. The gyro, Turkish bagel, and pistachio baklava were outstanding. The sandwich was made to order and worth the wait. The bagel was served warm and I devoured it immediately. The spinach cheese borek was a bit dry, but I've heard people rave about it, so I may have had it on an off day. The shop portion has items like honey, olives, and Turkish delight. Don't hesitate to pick up a treat for yourself!

Yelp
Love this place and their delicious food. The spinach and cheese flatbread is a must do. Inside is also a robust grocery. There are plenty of tables and service is great. Super pleasant and very kind. 100% recommend it or catch their stand at the Falls Church farmers market. Nothing better than walking the market with a hot flatbread.

Yelp
This is such a great spot for an authentic trip to Turkey, mainly because of the Turkish groceries. I mean authentic as in, it feels like you're in any neighborhood in Turkey. I love it. The mom and pop feel really shows in the food, which was so delicious. There's nothing like a kebab!!! Cannot wait to go back and try more of the food. My wife and I grabbed a few groceries before we left to incorporate some new flavors into our cooking

David D.

Yelp
While I have never been to the brick and mortar location, I've been lucky enough to try the food at some farmer's markets. I am not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best meals I've had. I've been going to them at the farmer's market in Georgetown for years and they never disappoint. Beyond the delicious and consistent food, the staff are always so friendly and warm when ordering. I plan to go to the restaurant now to get the full experience. 10/10 recommendation

Yelp
We came out of state visiting family in fairfax and stumbled on this gem. The food was more thank "okay" lol .. it was actually delicious and priced very friendly.. best borek and prices in the DMV. They have a big tv and they allow customers to watch sports and Turkish Shows.. first come first serve for channel choice ofc. The place was clean and organized especially the bathroom... wheelchair accessible too Overall this was a great experience... shoutout to the Turkish Mom

Nina F.

Yelp
I am so happy to choose the place for my friend birthday , the young owner or owner Son was so engaged with clients , and while you are there you feel welcome like you are in Turkey cafe, place warm and coffee and sweet were excellent homemade, the small area for grocery was so good to get Turkish grocery and the area for bath was interesting. We spent a lovely time there , the young man was nice and friendly we watch a soccer and have fun . We already plan to go back for breakfast I will recommend everyone to go there to try a good service and food.

Yelp
Lovely little family business. The food is hot and fresh and the folks who work there are the nicest people you'll ever meet. They treat you like family, make you feel welcome and like a guest in their home. We have had the breakfast items, the Turkish pizza, the Doener, the grilled meats and salad. Everything is absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Borek-G Turkish Mom's Cookin is a wonderful place for Turkish sweets, groceries, and food. We stopped in to pick up some baklava, and they have a great selection. Something very special here is they have chocolate baklava! It's really really good and definitely recommended! The other baklava is also perfect. Breakfast is available in the mornings, and he let us know his mom could even make menemen eggs, a very yummy item for Turkish breakfast. Looking forward to trying it sometime. Highly recommended!

Omar C.

Yelp
If you want some real Turkish grub and the vibe of a local grocery store, this place has got you covered. The baklava is my absolute favorite and hands down the best in the DMV. The folks here are super friendly, and the whole vibe is just cozy and traditional. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
If you live in Falls Church City and you haven't strolled to this wonderful gem then you need to immediately. Best, and most genuine service in NOVA. My Afghan friend declares they have the best Baklava ever! You'll be full but not stuffed or feeling heavy. Try the tea or coffee and definitely the meat or spinach bread, and don't miss out on the Turkish Frozen Summer Sausage they have in the freezer.
google avatar

Gozde S.

Yelp
Amazing place, amazing food, amazing environment and amazing people. Borek G reminds me of my mom's food touching and filling my heart and soul with love with every bite I take. Highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for an authentic Turkish food with genuine and friendly owners and customer service.

Yelp
My family and I first ate boreks in Croatia and we absolutely loved them. When we got back, we instantly looked up where we could find it locally and found this gem of a place. It's a small family owned business and has a variety of foods available. There are made to order menu items available as well, but they also have daily made boreks available. In the vegetarian options they have spinach and cheese and plain feta cheese. The non vegetarian option consists of ground beef. I wish they had a chicken option, but per the owners that's not in line with traditional Turkish cuisine. They offer to warm up the boreks for you and each costs $5. We got the spinach and cheese and plain feta cheese. I won't say it hit quite the same as in Europe but still flavorful and delicious. I honestly think that a borek is filling enough for a meal. Would love to come back and try some of their other dishes such as the eggplant moussaka or doner kebab.

Yelp
Had seen Borek-G at the Falls Church Farmers Market, and popped in recently to see what they had for lunch at the store. What I found-- a friendly place, that serves phenomenal Turkish food promptly with a smile. The Donner Pita was a super tasty lunch, fresh with phenomenal seasonings. The pistachio baklava was sweet, lemony and absolutely delicious. Inside the store appears to be a big selection of Turkish food and Turkish crafts. Plenty of seating. Complementary coffee for all. Please try Borek-G- this small business is a great addition to our Falls Church community.

Mehmed V.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite Turkish / Mediterranean food places. their home made food is great and the owner family is very friendly. My favorites are chickpeas and rice, manti, su boregi, baklava and milk rice pudding (sutlaç).

Aimen H.

Yelp
I've been at a lot of local Turkish restaurant by far this the best for simple delicious food, we've tried the eggs and pastrami penini, spinach and cheese gozlema as well the beef, very reasonable prices and excellent service. Good atmosphere, with nice outdoor seating area.

Claudia M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I'm Turkish and have been having a hard time finding cafe-style Turkish food in the DMV area (all Turkish restaurants I could find are for dinner) until I finally found Borek-G! The boreks are as delicious as the ones you would find in Turkey. The lentil soup and the Doner on Rice were really good as well. The service was also great. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
I came here for their börek but I was most impressed with their menemen that we order a second one. Piece of home.

Carlos F.

Yelp
This place is fantastic I come by pretty often for lunch. The taste of their food is phenomenal and the assortment of products available definitely is out of this world. I enjoy trying new dishes and foods and they never disappoint. Love the establishment is always clean and great family atmosphere is seen and felt as part of the experience they provide. Their service is excellent and definitely makes me come back every time. Try out their pastries they're phenomenal

Yelp
Came across Borek-G with a Yelp search today and so happy we did! The food was amazing and it is such a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Huseyin is an excellent host and his mother an even better chef. We're excited to share this gem with our friends and family. Can't wait to try the spinach and cheese borek, cheesecake and chocolate pistascio backlava we brought home! We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We've been coming by regularly to this place as we pass the time until we pick up our child. We first wandered in for tea, occasionally for basic Turkish/Middle Eastern groceries. Recently we began ordering their specials for lunch, masterfully prepared by the matriarch of the family. It's been a revelation. Home cooking done really well, well spiced, well prepared and yummy all around. Whether it's the stuffed peppers or the stews or the chicken soup--it's all been very, very good. We've been exploring the menu every time we get here and it does not disappoint. Very happy with this find.

Maddalena L.

Yelp
Our son recomended this place and we are glad we went. The food is delicious. All cooked by mamma chef. The service is incredible. I had the Eggs with Tomatoes, and they were the best I ever had. Highly recommended. This is the best Turkish Reataurant I have ever been. Excelent

Yelp
Very cute and simple place where you can have a good baklava, Turkish coffee, and more! The people here were very nice as well. Their is indoor and outdoor seating, as well as about three small shelves where you can buy Turkish crafts and packaged foods, and a refrigerator with some drinks. I wish they had a water dispenser for iced water, but all else was good!

Yelp
A Turkish haiku for a shameless first to review Farmer's market fave Turned brick and mortar cafe Authentic simit A sketchy asian grocery store converted into a mom/pop market post pandemic, a Turkishly delightful newcomer to the local Falls Church food scene.

Shane B.

Yelp
If you're looking for healthy, delicious Turkish food, this is the spot for you! I have been coming to this place on a weekly basis for the past couple of months and I can honestly say that I am addicted. The stuffed bell peppers, meat Borek, hot breakfast plate, and baklava are some of my absolute favorites. Each dish is prepared with the perfect blend of spices and flavors, and you can taste the care that goes into every meal. I haven't had a dish that I didn't love, and I always leave feeling satisfied and happy. If you want to experience the best Turkish food around, look no further than this place. I would recommend it 100%!

Laurie K.

Yelp
What a nice local business. The service was outstanding, such a great guy at the front. Food was good. Love having this great Turkish place in the neighborhood!

Debbie S.

Yelp
So yummy! Read about this little place in Falls Church in the Washington Post - they loved it! (And now, so do we!!) https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2021/08/30/borek-g-restaurant-review/ Hope you can access the review - it was enticing enough to get us to go try it. Went today for lunch. The young man who took our order was delightful and showed us various things in the store area and explained some of the Turkish drinks - I tried the Apple-flavored sparkling mineral water and loved it. But let's get to the main show..... we both tried the Doner sandwich on pita (Greek restaurants call it gyro). We sat outside in a nice shady spot and the sandwiches were delivered to the table. Heaped with the meat, tomato and lettuce, we had to figure out how to eat it. Of course we figured it out and it was super delicious!!!! On our earlier "tour" of the store, we noticed some gorgeous looking thinnish sesame Turkish bagels - well, spending a lot of time in the New York area, we are familiar with flagels, flat bagels, and these looked like them. So we got two to go! The savory pastries in the display case also caught our eye. And we had to finish our lunch with pieces of baklava - we chose the chocolate pistachio kind and can't wait to try the others. The Washington Post article talks about their breakfasts and we plan on going soon to try it - the photo looked so appealing!! Do yourself a favor - go and try their goodies!!

Yelp
Cute little shop! I stopped by to see what they have and couldn't resist getting their deli goods. I like good old Döner! They freshly make it after the order is taken. I also got some spinach and cheese Börek's. It was delicious! I found Turkish chocolate and snack on the shelf, too. This was Turkish food paradise. Also really friendly customer service!

Yelp
Super yummy authentic Turkish cusine + mini grocery for all of your Turkish ingridients. I discovered this place through the Falls Church farmers market where they had a stand. The guys working there was so friendly and told us to come visit their store. I stopped in and was treated was very warm hospitality. I ordered a ton of boreks which is a steal for $5 each. A borek with a warm cup of Turkish tea is perfect for any afternoon. Can't wait to come back and try the breakfast!

Yelp
Today we tried Borek-G for the 1st time, and walked away very sorry we had waited so long. Delicious, interesting food plus very friendly service. My wife enjoyed the Spinach & Cheese Gozleme. On Hussein's recommendation, I tried the Donner on Rice - which was delicious! (We're saving the 3 different flavors of baklava for dessert tonight.) We will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
I love supporting small business. I love their service they are always so kind! I have gotten all sorts of things from there for girls happy hours. Hummus, sauces. Beef borek. Greek gyros. Love it all!

C. A.

Yelp
A great small Turkish cafe and grocery. The baklava and beef burek are particularly recommended. Family owned; good service.

Marvin B.

Yelp
Owners are some of the friendliest people in Falls Church! Amazing local restaurant with a variety of delicious food.

Shivy S.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch today and had a great experience. The gentleman taking our order was very friendly and recommended the doner, so I went with it along with the ground beef flatbread. The doner over rice was great. The meat well-seasoned and the portion size was just perfect. The balance of the meat, garlic yogurt sauce, and rice definitely hit the spot. The ground beef flatbread was also good. Definitely large enough to split as an appetizer.
google avatar

Brad T.

Yelp
Enjoyed a casual breakfast outdoors. The breakfast panini with Turkish sausage was fantastic. I ate it so fast I forgot to get a photo. I also had a Turkish coffee which was served in a cute cup. All around food and coffee were great and outdone only by the service, which was friendly and prompt. I will be back.
google avatar

Joe G.

Yelp
I love this place! Delighted to see such kind and warm people succeed and continue to deliver delicious Turkish food - as many reviewers have said this is an authentic "mom's cooking" experience and true gem. Sp happy it's in my neighborhood!

Joshua G.

Yelp
This is a fantastic family owned business with wonderfully delicious food. Try the Doner sandwich and chickpeas and rice, and you will not be disappointed. The family is so nice and inviting and really cares about their customers. It is dangerous living so close.

Arsalan S.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great people, owners and employees are very welcoming, food is delicious, I would recommend to anyone who wants to try authentic Turkish food

Yelp
Visited this place on a rainy Sunday morning and couldn't be more happy! I got a Doner and Baklava, both were delicious. Will definitely be frequenting this place more once the weather is nicer.
