Philly Beer Garden Guide: Summer 2016 | Eater Philly

"When Borgata opens its first outdoor drinks garden on July 1, I expect a lineup of 15 craft and domestic beers, cocktails like the Honeydew Mimosa and Cucumber Cooler, and snacks such as a watermelon salad with feta, smashed brisket and a short-rib burger; programming will include yard games, live bands on weekends and themed events like Pig Roast Thursdays and Sunday Scotch and Cigars, with a later addition of an adults-only outdoor pool for hotel guests." - Eater Staff

Google
Don’t bother. Website and security on the casino floor said beer garden was open until 7:00. We arrived at 5:45, bought two beers, which was apparently last call, and then the beer garden security guard kicked us and others out about 2 minutes later. When we said we thought they were open until 7:00 he said no and to leave. So, we paid $18 for two beers plus $10 to park to not be able to enjoy or finish our beers. Waste of time and money.

Nice relaxing setting- pool, cabanas and chairs. Good vibes with different genres of music. Pool got a little dirty after a while. Food is so so, and drinks are completely watered down. I mean barely any alcohol. So you just keep buying more. Day 1 service was good.(Thx to Emily and…🤔forgot her name but she was great also)Day 2 eeh. Not the same

Our group booked a poolside gazebo, and while expensive, was a blast. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, the food was good, and the pool was great. Very fun time.

Received vip tickets to attend a “cigar social “ event outdoor at the beer garden. 🥇🥇 Of all the events I have attended at the Borgata, this is by far the most memorable. Red carpet service with white gloves treatment once you enter. Complimentary champagne & bourbon as you glide from booth to booth. The cigars on display and for sale were big names: Padron, Cohiba, Montecristo, & etc… Bought 3 boxes of top quality cigars and received so many freebies. Dancers & singers were entertaining us the whole time. Very festive 👍👍

Great part of the Casino however the swimming hours should be extended... Love the band ELEVEN ELEVEN

Google
The Beer Garden was a good, chill place to hang out, but this review is for the outdoor pool right beside it. Wristbands are needed for entrance to the pool and are switched out daily, complimentary for Borgata guests, but you will need to bring an ID for staff to verify. The pool itself is lounge-oriented and well maintained. I'd otherwise give it 4 stars, but the poolside food and drinks here are terrible. Save yourself the trouble and head to the food court in the Borgata for much better options.

Amazing adult pool to soak in the have some drinks and soak in the sun. Good vibes and music. Definitely work a visit. (Gina is a great waitress at the pool!)

Really cool place, great music and lots of games available. The pool closed early at 6pm, food wasn’t the best - but service was nice :)

Yelp
The pool is nice but NOT the place to go if you want drink or food service. Sat for 20 minutes before I was noticed by the servers who spent most of their time chatting with each other than helping thirsty or hungry customers. Recommend they hire different servers or install new culture

Yelp
At the Bogata beer garden pool, they play nice music and plenty lounge chair . they serve food at the restaurant or you could sit at the lounge chair and order. The service is good. I ordered New England lobster roll ,It was plenty lots of lobster meat in it and the loaded crab fries with dip.also a big portion.

Yelp
Absolutely the most rude wait staff I've experienced. The bartender was habitually foul and quite worthless. In fact, I waited 20 minutes to order a drink and was rudely advised that she'd be with me when she could. There were 4 of them standing around literally doing nothing. Skip this place and stay at another casino.

Yelp
Ordered the Tortilla Chips starter, which listed it came with guacamole, salsa, and queso. I was NOT expecting the food to come out in a plastic to go container with pre packaged salsa and queso cups and a plastic tube filled with guacamole sauce...? I have never seen or heard of that in my life. Needless to stay, that was trash; especially for $12...

Yelp
It unfortunately rained during our time at the Borgata this week so we came to the Beer Garden when we were asked to leave the pool area due to impending storms. The bartender at the beer garden told us that the garden does not stay open if it thundered. We were a little disappointed to hear that because we had already had to leave the pool area and wanted to at least sit at the bar close to the pool for awhile. Thankfully the storms held off so we were able to sit at the bar for awhile. Many of the employees of the pool were hovering by the bar area looking like they just wanted to be sent home. No one seemed very happy to be there, and my friend and I felt unwelcome just sitting there as if we were burdening them. We had a few drinks each and ordered food. I have to say the food was not that bad, I got a burger and my friend got the chicken tacos. I think this bar could be successful if the staff was a little bit more friendly and they really marketed it better.

Yelp
On my most recent visit to the Borgata Beer Garden I ordered a Coors light as I was looking to only spend a few minutes here as the weather wasn't great and not looking to spend a lot as you can pretty much get any free beer you want if you make a $5 bet at the sports betting window and ask for some free drink tickets. Well.....when the bartender came back with the Coors Light and said $8 dollars I almost said take it back that is absurd! The price was not listed on there visible menu either only on the handout menu. If you are on vacation yes you should check out the beer garden but by god man do you want to spend $100 on a few drinks and maybe a salad when you are already paying over $300 for a room for one night?? My advice to management go back to the old ways of doing things in casinos get your guests drunk for free or very little money and let them experience a little bit of excitement gambling there money away at the tables. Advanced tip : You can only sit in the lounge chairs by the pool if you are a guest of the Water Club portion of Borgota. You get waited on hand and foot and it is nice just be forewarned I overheard a guest that reserved a comfortable chair that must be reseved ahead of time how much you say o thats $100 for the privilege to sit in a chair. Good Luck fellow yelpers but if you see someone at the bar paying $8 for a coors light in the near future it will not be me!

Yelp
The place is really cute and gives you an option during COVID times that are more than food trucks or the downstairs to-go food. I enjoyed the ambiance and loved the selection of cocktails and beer. The servers are all wearing masks and the menu has something for everyone. From a vegetarian burger option to brisket there is something for everyone. They serve in to go boxes so don't have high expectations for presentation. If you are staying at the Borgata and are looking for the closest thing to a romanticishhh experience this is for you. I also think you are able to order beer or drinks yourself and sit down without waiter service. They have TVs if you are into sports.

Yelp
Food is kind of blah but that's not really the point. Really nice atmosphere with kind of a sort of semi-enclosed cabana feel that you can just go in. Feels very kind of Midwestern almost like in terms of the atmosphere and it's a little bit odd for Atlantic City. Pretty good selection of beer and wine, especially for a casino. Service is good enough and pretty friendly. I actually think it's better than most of the beach bars in terms of quality in Atlantic City, although obviously the atmosphere is not really the same.

Yelp
Hamburger was good but roll couldn't grease and fell apart. Service was TERRIBLE, was hard to get the waitress to comeback. My soda was flat so. I told them just me a water. Well when go the check wanted to charge me $4 00 for the water! Thanked the waitress after check and no manners like you're welcome

Yelp
I went here in June of 2021. The drink I had a Pineapple Express was delicious. When I returned in the early evening of August 19, of 2021 I was severely disappointed. The drink I ordered was horribly made. The women bartender made it so strong I threw it out. You could not even taste the pineapple. Way too much alcohol. My husband wished he had not tipped her so much. I was so angry I wanted to throw the drink in the bartenders face. I was so looking forward to eating there as well but the kitchen and pool was closed. That bartender needs to go back to bar tending school. If a drink costs 16.99 I expect it to taste good not like I am drinking a bottle of rum. In my cup.

Yelp
How disappointing. Tried three days to come here around 5PM. Was told by front desk it closes at 8, each time it seemed the staff made up the closing hours. Also very frustrating trying to call to get a hold of someone for inquiries through the phone. It always goes to a endless menu.

Yelp
I like the new outdoor option Borgata has finally added. It doesn't really compare to the boardwalk options but it's still nice. The bar is spacious and the bartenders were pretty good the two times I've been. Drink prices are a little high, but it's technically in a casino so understandable. There are a few games to play, cornhole, life sized connect four, ping pong, etc. It's a nice compliment to the pool, but you don't have to be staying at the hotel to get into the Beer Garden (you do for the pool).

Yelp
The Borgata Beer Garden is a chill, outdoor option for entertainment at Borgata. Come to think of it, it's the only outdoor dining, nightlife choice in Borgata. It's located near the outdoor pool with scenic views of the Borgata and Harrahs hotel towers. If only there was a body of water other than the pool to overlook. The beer options are decent but not overly impressive. I liked that they had a handful of NJ options. The beers were a notch above a reasonable price running about $7-$9. If you remember you are at a casino, it becomes reasonable in theory. I was there at night to catch the Forth of July Fireworks. I'm almost hesitant to mention what a great view we had so I can go back next year without fighting crowds. There was also a cover band that played a fairly diverse set. The venue wasn't overly impressive as a whole but certainly something I'd consider as an outdoor nightlife option in AC.

Yelp
Was there this weekend and it was very busy. The jersey tomato mozzarella salad was to die for. Our server Dominique was so sweet and personable. She did a great job even though other people were stopping her left and right. Having previously been in the food service industry myself, I was impressed at how well her and the other pool servers did, while watching them run around in the heat. My only complaint is that as the day went on, the pool got dirtier and dirtier. We stayed all night and at the end of the night it was kind of gross. Overall, great experience and I'm keeping my borgata souvenir cup for many more Miami vice's this summer!

Yelp
Food was great. Music was decent. The dj is a girl named iamchelsealee. She was decent but I've heard alot of bad things about her and she advertises her "services" on onlyfans. Very unprofessional

Yelp
This beer garden is located next to the Borgata outdoor pool. It was a little confusing to get to at first - you have to walk outside via one of the doors close to the check-in desk. The bar is large - with 4 bartenders and stools wrapped the sides of the bar. We came here on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm and they had a live band playing some popular old school tunes. They have a good amount of local draft beers including one I really liked, the Borgata Greenhead Summer Shandy. Their summer shandy is very citrusy tasting and had a bold flavor of grapefruit. Their menu also features frozen cocktails including watermelon slush, piña colada, strawberry daiquiri, and mango margarita. I got the Watermelon slush and Piña Colada and they were both delicious and refreshing - I really recommend the Watermelon slush. On Sundays-Thursday, from 5PM-7PM, they have happy hour food and drink specials. Select draft beers were $4 each, and bar bites were $6 each - their chicken tenders were very good!

Yelp
As far as Beer gardens go - this addition is nice and comfortable. It is cool because it has ping pong tables; corn hole bean bag game. There is a nice food selection and the beers offered are ok - they need to expand and offer some diverse ones - especially those summer shandy's, etc. There was a nice age mix of people in the area - but I visited during the week - I am sure not he weekends - this attracts a younger crowd. Drinks are pricey, but the service was pretty good.

Yelp
Great addition to the Borgata this year. Glad we got down here when it's still hot out to experience it. Fun atmosphere, wasn't too crowded and had a good time. Live bands play from time to time. Just a nice relaxing spot to bend the elbow. They have food items you can order and also cigars for purchase which I love. You can't smoke that the bar though you have to step about 4 feet behind the bar to where the tables and chairs are located. Not a big deal. Can't wait for next summer to go back again

NotTelling ..

Yelp
It was the last week of the season and were out of every beer I wanted. Makes sense for them not to re-order, but ruined my experience. Otherwise, nice atmosphere and friendly bartenders.

Yelp
The Borgata's newest edition is the pool area along with the Beer Garden by the pool. My cousin and I decided to check it out while we waited for the rest of the group to stroll in. For it being a Friday around 2pm I was expecting some sort of HH special but was left with limited beer, liquor, and food options. The beers they offered ran about $7 each and house drinks about $9. The menu we felt to be disappointing because the traditional lunch options that you expect and sometimes crave when at a bar (chicken fingers, wings, etc.) were not offered! Now maybe this was me being picky but I was disappointed. What we ordered were some fries with grated cheese on top. This held us over until we had our dinner later on. The seating was cool around us with red chairs in the sun and shade. Around 4pm they had a Jamaican style band come up to play which added more to the chill environment I think they were going for. I wouldn't run back to this area of The Borgata for some drinks or lunch but instead explore the other offerings located inside in the hotel.

Yelp
Giving the Borgata Beer Garden 5 stars. Mostly because if the excellent and friendly service of our Batender Luis . He recommended the burgers which were excellent. The food arrived hot and fresh. Definitely looking forward to another visit.

Yelp
Great place to come and relax outdoors when the weather is nice. There are a couple of ping pong tables and a few table games to enjoy. They don't seem to make any food on demand so what you order is likely going to come in a box that was prepared in the morning. Drinks are reasonable well made but the beer selection should be a lot better given its advertised as a beer garden.

Yelp
You want a quick bite while playing the tables ? Head to Borgata's Beer Garden ! Food is excellent , cheap , and quick . Brisket burger is awesome ! I will not eat another burger again . Visit monthly ! Enjoy .

Yelp
Beer garden was super fun, outdoor area to relax, enjoy a drink and play a yard game or two. Fun atmosphere, live music and the pool area was very relaxing and smoke free unlike the inside of the casino. Great place to kill time before a show at the event center.

Yelp
This place was so beautiful and relaxing my daughter and myself first time their visiting with my brother and sister in law. Appetizers a bit pricy yet overall excellent customer service. We shall return 1 day
