The 15 Best Hotels and Resorts in Tuscany - AFAR

"Housed in a restored 18th-century villa in the Val d’Orcia, this intimate 21-room hotel (opened in 2022) pairs cozy, sumptuous rooms—exposed brick, carved wooden armoires and terra-cotta tile floors—with an award-winning concierge eager to help guests explore the UNESCO-protected countryside; on-property offerings include bike loans for winery rides, cooking classes at nearby agriturismi, on-site olive oil tastings, and a quiet library, with a strong commitment to sourcing from small local producers." - Laura Itzkowitz, Erica Firpo

Set in a lovely part of Tuscany, this resort offers many comforts. The rooms are spacious and clean, with plenty of fluffy towels. Rooms have outdoor spaces for relaxation and their pool is refreshing. Breakfasts are delicious with several offerings from a menu as well as an extensive buffet. They offer a pizza night with many choices and they are fabulous. Try their homemade Lemoncello in a spritz. I'm still dreaming of them....

We had an incredible stay at Borgo San Vincenzo with our 6-month-old baby. Traveling with my sister and her family, it was the perfect place for us to unwind, splash in the pool, and explore the surrounding area of Montepulciano. The hotel staff made us feel completely at home—so warm, welcoming, and attentive. The breakfast was outstanding, the rooms were beautifully updated and impeccably clean, and I especially loved the afternoon aperitivo by the pool or in our private outdoor space. It was hard to say goodbye to such a beautiful place. We’ll always cherish the memories we made here and truly hope to return one day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We had a beautiful stay here. Scott and Shannon were incredible hosts and they’ve done such a great job with the property. I’m not expert on Tuscany but this was very much the look and feel we desired to get the experience that was rustic yet sophisticated. The sunsets were heaven and we met many other nice families while there and the staff was top notch exceeding that experience of a luxury hotel. Highly recommend and we will be back!

I don't think I can adequately capture how wonderful my stay was here. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable. The room was great and the restaurant was amazing! We were lucky enough to be there on a Thursday for the Tuscan BBQ. That was very delicious! I also had breakfast here each morning and they had an excellent selection of items to try. The pool was really clean and when we were caught outside in the rain, the staff came over and gave us an umbrella. Highly recommend staying here - such a great location and they were able to assist us in booking a private wine tour and we borrowed the e-bikes.

WOW! We travel all over the world, but this was our first time in the Tuscan region. I have to admit, we love finding hidden gems in the countries with visit and Borgo is just that! Nestled just outside of Montepulciano, it gave us a beautiful oasis in between exploring all the area had to offer! Shannon and team were so special! Jonathan, who directs guest services, helped me plan our family’s itinerary, months before our arrival and I absolutely see why he’s won so many awards as a planning host, he’s fantastic! Do yourself a favor and let him plan your excursions, they’re amazing! The food at the restaurant on-site is five star quality, only outmatched by the wonderful staff. You could not ask for a more boutique and carefully curated experience! We have truly found Tuscany’s hidden gem 🌟

We’re very lucky to have visited southern Tuscany quite a few times in recent years. So we’ve had a chance to stay in a couple different B&B’s and hotels in the area. Borgo San Vincenzo is one of the best we’ve had a chance to experience. It is small enough to feel cozy and boutique, yet large enough to have great amenities. From the first person who greeted us, to the wonderful man who helped us when we left for the Rome airport at 5am and everyone in between. Everyone we met was professional, yet incredibly kind and welcoming. Once we met the owners, Scott and Shannon, it was easy to understand why the staff was so amazing. There is something to be said for a small hotel having a restaurant. And not just a restaurant, a really delicious one. We’ve found in the past that a B&B can be wonderful, but if they don’t have options to get something to eat during the day or for dinner, it can really impact your stay. Luckily, that was not a worry here. We loved having the option! The rooms have all the charm and beauty you want in a Tuscan hotel, but with the modern touches. Small but important things like USB charging, heated mirrors in the bathroom, and Nespresso coffee machines in each room. It has a wonderful location just east of Montepulciano (15 mins). This gives it a fabulous location for day trips. Towns like Pienza, Montefollonico, Cortona, and Castiglione del Lago are all 30 minutes or less. You also have fairly easy access to the autostrada to make trips to Siena, Arezzo, and Perugia all within an hour. Their Guest Experience Team is so helpful with everything from a simple dining reservation to helping plan a full itinerary. We emailed them with questions a few weeks before our trip and they were so responsive. Even though we have been to the area before, we still found they had so much information to offer, and we felt very comfortable with them even before we arrived. They never made us feel like our questions were a bother or something we should already know about the area. There are countless reasons to love Borgo San Vincenzo. They are very reasonable for the area, but with the feel, amenities, and attention to detail of a very high-end boutique hotel. No matter how long your visit, you’ll want it to last longer and will already be planning your return before you leave.

This hotel has exceptional service. The grounds are immaculate and the staff go out of t heir way to be of help. You can either do nothing at all and enjoy the peaceful environment or take advantage of the many activities the hotel will arrange for you. Our room was two levels and was very large and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and most important...they were able to provide memory foam pillows! The food in the restaurant was exceptional. We had the opportunity to have several conversations with Shannon, the owner. She is extremely warm and welcoming. Make it a point to visit and stay at this wonderful location.

My wife and I spent a week here for our honeymoon and had an unforgettable experience. The ambiance of the dining area was truly exceptional. We loved the relaxed pace of our days—lounging by the pool and enjoying nearby wine tastings. Without a doubt, we’d return here on our next trip to Tuscany.
