"The Pacific Northwest isn’t exactly a hotbed of Caribbean restaurants — though that’s changing, albeit slowly — but if the urge for tostones or arroz con pollo hits, there’s always Borikén, a casual restaurant that transmits the tropics with its lime green and sunny orange palette. The mofongo is a standout, a dish of fried plantains mashed with chicharrones, often formed into a softball-sized orb and topped with meat or seafood. Here, it is served in a traditional pilón de madera (wooden pestle), fillings of choice piled in. It’s best with a few dashes of mojo de ajo." - Krista Garcia, Janey Wong

"Since 2014, Boriken has served outstanding Puerto Rican fare in the heart of Beaverton. It might just be the only restaurant in town where someone can find mofongo: fried green plantains mashed with garlic, salt, and olive oil, combined with meat or seafood. Diners can pick through the extensive menu and enjoy classic Puerto Rican dishes such as pernil and meat-stuffed turnover pastries called empanadillas. When it comes to drinks, Puerto Rico was the birthplace of the piña colada, after all." - Ron Scott, Olivia Lee

"The Pacific Northwest isn’t exactly overflowing with Caribbean restaurants, but for Puerto Rican food like crispy alcapurrias (plantains with seasoned ground beef) and bacalaitos fritos (salt cod fritters), head to Beaverton’s Boriken. One of the restaurant’s most popular dishes is its mofongo, a tasty mound of fried plantains mashed with chicharrones; the restaurant’s mofongos come with a choice of protein, ranging from skirt steak to slow-roasted pernil. No dish is complete without the shop’s garlicky mojo." - Krista Garcia

Best mofongo I’ve ever had (disclaimer I’m Cuban but my partner is Puerto Rican so I’ve had my fair share)! I got the pork mofongo with the ajillo sauce and it was so garlicky and buttery and the pork was seasoned so perfectly it reminded me of home. My partner really enjoyed the tembleque dessert and the sorullitos. We both really enjoyed the pastel and the tostones. I got a passion fruit juice as well which was sweet tangy and refreshing. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re missing the latine foods of your home town or your grandmas cooking.

Tried Puerto Rican food for the first time at Borikén Restaurant and it was a great experience! The flavors were delicious and unique—definitely glad I gave it a try. (Photography by Yu-Min, Su)

I love this restaurant and have been a patron for years. The owner Sam is always accommodating and genuinely nice; I see him taking time to explain the menu options for people who aren't familiar with Puerto Rican cuisine. The restaurant is always clean and has a nice atmosphere with its Latin inspired decor. The food is very authentic and flavorful; I always leave satisfied. For people that are in a hurry, go and try it in non-peak hours to avoid being disappointed with timeliness. Sam is usually running the front by himself and it can get busy. Be patient and enjoy the food and friendly service. 😊

Such a great lunch! I’ve actually never had tostones this soft but also crispy. The Mofongo and tostones + their table vinegar chili sauce is amazing!!!

Google
This place took me "home" (well, to the east coast) with all the bomb 💣 Puerto Rician food they had. Haven't been this happy about Spanish food in a minute. If you're wondering if you should try it, you should.

Google
We got the mufongo and yellow rice dishes which were the restaurant speciality. All the dishes were amazing. We got the shrimp mufongo , Chicken mufongo, chicken breast Al ajillo and fried plantains. We got butter instead of garlic sauce which was ok. Mango juice and tamarind juice were good. The restaurant was very busy on Saturday night and only 1 server to serve, clean, make your cocktails/drinks and to receive new customers which was slightly upsetting as the server looked swamped and overwhelmed. Needs proper management in the restaurant but food was amazing!

Google
Ypu could order anything here and it would be excellent. The authentic flavors, generous portions, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere were amazing. The restaurant is spotless, and the attention to cleanliness is clearly a priority. The hosts were incredibly kind and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in.

We had a great time here, excellent mofongos and all other PuertoRican foods! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Family owned | great food, great prices My husband found this place and he was craving Puerto Rican food. We used to eat at this place in Santa Rosa, so he searched and found a recommended restaurant in Beaverton, Boriken! Happy we stopped by to check this place out. They are family owned and celebrating their 10th anniversary -- woo! I like the interior. It's bright and decorated with a tropical island feel reflecting the culture. The walls have photos of the family and history. I like places like this. Their menu is easy to navigate and not overwhelming for a first time diner. I ordered a plate with yellow rice and chicken, beans, and plantains. I was indecisive with sweet or fried plantains, so the waiter suggested I do both. My 6yr old ordered a small side of sweet plantains and a small side of cornmeal sticks. My husband had the small mofongo. I loved what I had. It was very filling too! Sweet plantains are SO good and the fried plantains are delicious as well. I loved that they weren't oily and had a good crisp to it. My daughter ended up wanting my fried plantain even though she really enjoyed the sweet version too. She likes this place. My husband devoured the mofongo. I may get that next time too. We tried their vinegar sauce on the table and it tastes pretty good, not spicy! Service is great. We enjoyed our food and plan to come back again. Parking is right out front designated for customers. Bathroom is for customers only. **because they're celebrating their 10th anniversary, some of their dishes (like mine) are $2 off.

Yelp
I have experienced a classic and wonderful experience, flavorful food combinations with a flair of Puerto Rico, when I tell you it feels like I'm actually there, and it's good, most realistic atmosphere and service was fast....it's not fast food but good food with the quality of someone's Abuela in the kitchen, just doing what she normally does when someone comes over. She feeds them and makes them feel at home. That's what I got out of this interaction: a very family style environment with good food. If you haven't been here, make sure to come out and support. "You won't be disappointed!!!!"

Brian N.

Yelp
Great service. The server was really nice and she took the time to explain different dishes and the differences between them. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Restaurant was fairly busy, but the server never forgot about us and checked regularly to make sure we had what we needed. The mini mofongo (lunch special) is delicious, filled with flavor, and nicely sized. My friend had the trifongo and really enjoyed it also. An assortment of pastry type desserts were yummy also. We split two things that I don't remember exactly what they were called but everything in the case looked good. Decor is simple, clean, and colorful. A nice homey atmosphere. Free parking but it is limited closer to the door. During busy times you may need to park behind the building, but it's not bad at all. Certainly no further than walking from the parking lot into the grocery store. I'll definitely go back again.

Olivia A.

Yelp
The Puerto Rican food here is delicious! We always get mofongo with garlic butter sauce. This time I tried the lasagna! Different but delicious , worth the try. The mojitos were really refreshing. It's a cute and small establishment and the staff is attentive and friendly!

Michael Black Y.

Yelp
Arroz con pollo and Shrimp mofongo were 10/10. Will definitely go back with my family.

Yelp
Finding a good Puertorrican restaurant on the West Coast is NOT EASY! This restaurant stays true to the puertorrican flavors, and is consistently good. I have bought their sofrito and love it. Today I got the mini mofongo with Pernil (a bit sweet for me) but still good flavors. Had the alcapurrias, surullitos and arroz con longaniza. Everything was really good!

Jackie G.

Yelp
oh my god. i haven't stopped thinking about this meal!!! we went at noon on a friday and it wasn't too busy! we were greeted by the sweetest human who also happened to take our order later on. i ordered the tenderized steak marinated in a garlicky, vinegar sauce topped with onions, served with yellow rice, beans, 1 fried plantain, & 1 sweet plantain. it was outstanding, absolutely outstanding. everything on the plate was a 10/10! the steak was insanely tender & flavorful, the beans & rice were also insanely flavorful! the sweet plantain was soft & sweet, what plantain dreams are made of. the fried plantain was so crispy & flavorful as well, i topped it with the sauce they had on the table. the portion i thought was generous for $12.95! it was one of their weekday lunch specials. service was superb! parking is a lil weird, on the side of the building but there is more in the back which is nice! the atmosphere is quaint and feels like i'm at a friends house. it's cozy, small and has the homiest feel! i truly can't say enough good things about Boriken! i've already told everyone i can about this gem! 10000/10!

Michelle M.

Yelp
This is supposed to be a Puerto Rican restaurant. Why was the rice so dry and very yellow? It wasn't appetizing and there wasn't any flavor. The beef stew didn't have any potatoes and the pastries were dry. Improvements would be revamping your whole menu.

Miguel A.

Yelp
Amazing Puerto Rican food, good service and great mojitos. The mofongo was really good.

Clare Q.

Yelp
Still great! Easy parking, great food and service, and frozen delights! Ask what they sell frozen! I love having their sofrito in my freezer.

Miranda C.

Yelp
As close to PR as you can get! I tried the veggie mofongo with the roasted garlic sauce and it was delish! They have a mini mofongo portion from 11-3pm on the menu (17$) which is perfectly sized (this is what I ordered). The parking is limited but located next to the establishment and free. The service was great the server was super informative and patient as questions were asked. Nice ambiance as well! Cute string lights! Would be a good date spot to try something new!

Jennifer O.

Yelp
Started with 2 types plantains 1 sweet and 1 savory. I highly recommend ordering the sweet caramelized plantains (maduros). We ordered four bistec (steak) dishes, if you like your steaks more well done, I recommend these dishes. The bistec encebollao had the most flavor to me. If you are super hungry I would recommend the holiday dish - it was extremely filling. The service was wonderful the staff was super nice and the ambiance is great, very cutely decorated.

Lenore N.

Yelp
There was a group of ten of us. Although the waiter didn't allow and substitutions, we found the food to fresh, delicious and very affordable. I had roasted pork. It was absolutely delicious. Tender, moist, flavorful, juicy and a really large portion for a reasonable price. It was a delightful surprise

Jonathan Y.

Yelp
Came in to pickup takeout and the restaurant felt very homey. It was a nice warm atmosphere and nicely lit which was pleasant coming in from the dark and rainy outside. Came in and the food was almost ready. I asked the workers for extra sauce and the communication was a bit frustrating. I kept asking for the orange and red one and she kept asking "which sauces". Got the food and went home and it was all very good. The empanada was beef and could've used more filling so it was mostly just bread. The Kan Kan had a good flavor but the pork belly was very tough to eat, had to be careful not to have it cut up the inside of my mouth but I've never gotten it before so not sure if it's supposed to be like that; seemed almost over cooked. We also got the pork which was very juicy and had a nice peel apart texture. The beans were very tasty and the rice was nicely cooked.

Wendell R.

Yelp
Here we go my first time at a Puerto Rican restaurant here in the great city of Beaverton. The restaurant is cozy has the PR feel and the authentic music playing. On the table they had the typical condiment we all hope to enjoy "Mayo ketchup." The empanadillas were descent and they did lack the traditional filling that we're use to in PR. The tostones were crispy and well cooked as we expected. Cerdo was flavorful, but slightly dry. The rice with pigeon peas is on the light side and under seasoned. The pasteles had a familiar taste but lacked a more hearty filling. Typically there is substantial filling. I ordered a sour sop juice (jugo de guanoabana) that had the familiar taste but was a watered down. Overall I would classify this meal as "Puertorican lite." I'm probably a harder critic than most having lived there but I wanted to be honest. For anyone who is not familiar with the PR cuisine you MAY enjoy the food but it does fall short in comparison to real PR food. We will not be returning.

Jordan B.

Yelp
Had my out of town mofongo here and more. For $35 we had pastelon, mofongo, and 2 desserts. Next time I drive through Portland again this will be my 1st stop. Absolutely amazing food, service, and decor.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Cozy place that serves comfort food with a smile. I recommend the alcapurrias, chicharrones de pollo, chuleta kan kan, carne guisada, and mofongo con pernil if you don't know where to start. You can also ask to have your plantains both ways (sweet and savory) so you can try each. Great service and absolutely delicious.

B G.

Yelp
OMG!!! This is a hidden gem! Everything was AMAZING!!! We are going to be eating here every.single.time we are in Portland. The food: to die for delicious Service: amazing! she got us to try yum things (Trifongo for life) Ambiance: on point I don't know what else to say, if you are ever out here? What are you waiting for? Try them!

Sophia L.

Yelp
Great restaurant in Beaverton. Worth the drive if you're coming from the Portland area. Huge menu with lots to try. I really liked the potato balls. The holiday dish was also great to share! Can't wait to come back and try more.

Yelp
Update in late 2023. Little brother came into town from a food desert (suburbs of Dallas, yes That Dallas). My brother and my sister in law both enjoyed their meals. The Aguacate relleno sounded good, and according to them was terrific. Mine was wonderful. I had the holiday plate. The slow roasted Pork was tasty. The appetizer was delish. I can't remember it's name, but it was a bunch of stewed vegetables inside a plantain bowl, about the size of a tennis ball. Quite good. Due to the large portions, I had the second half of the appetizers for lunch at work several days later. You won't starve here.

Brig A.

Yelp
Was really feeling like I needed some rice to eat and came across Boriken. I hadn't had Puerto Rican food for quite some time and it sounded great. I wasn't disappointed. The food was excellent. The place is small, but quaint. I really liked the steak. Also the rice and beans were excellent. Of course if you are eating food from Puerto Rico you must have the fried plantains. Boriken nails this. They are so great. The service was great too, again it is a small restaurant so it was only two servers, but they were very attentive and really cared whether or not we liked the food. I definitely recommend Boriken.

Yolanda E.

Yelp
Restaurant was clean and we were the only customers on a weekday night. Nice tropical decor. Food arrived quickly. Taste was mediocre. Several of their items have too much crispy tasteless dough and not enough flavorful filling. Prices are expensive (most entrees are over $20). Portions are small but filling. Employees are nice.

Sarah W.

Yelp
The best mofongo we've ever had in the States (and better than A LOT of the mofongo we've had in PR). Boriken serves many traditional foods that you wouldn't expect to find on the west coast - alcapurria, bacalaoito, pastelone, etc. Yum! Can't wait for our next mofongo fix.

Sepand S.

Yelp
This restaurant is without a doubt a perfect embodiment of 'a hidden gem.' A family run institution with mind blowing food, great service and incredible drink. Here are my recommendations: 1. The tostones: so perfectly cooked with a great garlic butter dipping sauce. 2. Any and all varieties of Mofongo: it's addicting. Truly. 3. The flan: some of the best I've ever had int life. 4. The freshly made passion fruit juice: transports you right to a tropical paradise.

Angeline P.

Yelp
It was my first time trying Puerto Rican food and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend trying their appetizers. We got the papas rellenas and the empanadillas. Both tasted amazing especially with the housemade salsas and sauces. I ordered the chuleta kan kan, which is the fried pork chop dish. The pork chop came out really crispy and again tasted really good with the sauces. I like that it comes with beans, rice, and a side salad. The beans and rice were also very flavorful! The inside space is small, but decorated nicely in a way that feels cozy and homey. Went here on a friday night as soon as they opened so we were seated immediately, but their seats filled up fast!

Justin W.

Yelp
I love Puerto Rican food! It's so hard to find PR food in the WC compared to the EC but man when it hits, IT HITS!!! Favorite dish is pernil and they had it! Instant get and don't care how much it is!! Pernil is Roasted Pork Shoulder! Hidden gem restaurant! It is quite far from downtown but totally worth! Not sure when I'll be back but if I do come back I'm def running it back

Sarah R.

Yelp
My family is PR and unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it home for the holidays. I stopped in to Boriken Restaurant today for the (Holiday dish) & man, they did NOT disappoint. From the cute Island vibes to the first bite that nearly teleported me into my Grandparents kitchen. Great if you're looking for delicious authentic PR food or even if you're wanting to try something new! I will 100% bring my family here when they visit & YOU should too! Thank you, Boriken Restaurant

Liz C.

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS!! Every single bite was filled with soooo much flavor ! The Ambiance is light, bright and colorful , the beautiful music makes you want to dance ! The staff is very friendly and kind and very knowledgeable on their menu and very helpful on helping you decide on what to get and great at recommending things if it's your first time in! The passion fruit juice is so refreshing and light! The Mofongo is #chefskiss I can not recommend it enough! Garlic, spices, sweet and savory flavors that just melt like a warm hug on your tongue! The shrimp empanadas are equally delicious and omg don't get me started on the Tostones Rellenos ‍ they are beyond delectable , they are so flavorful, the chicken , bell peppers and onion with the butter garlic sauce mix so well with the fried plantain cups it's just the right crunch! It's like a party in your mouth! You won't be disappointed!! This place is absolutely amazing!!

Cindy C.

Yelp
If you come here, definitely try the mofongo. My partner who's father made it growing up said it definitely surpassed his childhood memories. If you love plantains like I do, I highly recommend. Plus, its also an amazing instagramable photo. Their cocktails are also delectable, I got the passionfruit mojito which was the perfect amount of sweetness and mint. It was quite the balance. Their hours are a little restricted, so make sure to check that out before planning a visit!

Julie C.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. The service is excellent and staff will give authentic Puerto Rician recommendations. Large portions and the meat is especially tender. The sauces are delicious. Many gluten-free options.

Richard F.

Yelp
Came here after a planned date night in the area and were pleasantly surprised by everything we had. The server took our order which was going to be a rice and meat plate but she suggested we have the mofongo which is much more traditional and something not often found in other restaurants. While we waited for the dish we snacked on some empanadas and corn fritters. When the mofongo arrived it was in this high pedestal and comes as mashed plantains and a choice of meat. We got pork but you can get different variations on both items. The pork was well seasoned and prepared. Not chewy. The plantains were flavorful and soft. The vessel that it came in was much deeper than we expected and it was good that we were suggested to have just one. Will definitely come back again!

Luis A.

Yelp
I was in town and craving puerto rican food. Loved the arroz mamposteao and the mofongo! I was even more happy when I saw they had mayoketchup!

Tracy D.

Yelp
What a fantastic Puerto Rican restaurant! For appetizers, we had the beef empanadillas, chicken empanadillas, tostones con mojo de ajo, and sorullitos de maiz.. Delicious! The pastry outside of the empanadillas are the BEST I have ever had!! Truly! For the entree, I had the Trifongo with Pernil...mmmmmm good. I would get again but I may have to try something else since everything was good. They have specialty cocktails including sangria. They offer a selection of beers and house wine. Their sangria was lacking flavor in my opinion, but my friend LOVED their coquitos. Their desserts and pastries looked delicious but I was too full to try them....next time! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but definitely worth dining inside for the experience.

Khaeris G.

Yelp
What a cute little restaurant. My family is Puerto Rican and Dominican and this place hit the spot! From the appetizers to desserts. So much nostalgia with every bite. The waitress was so kind and spoke Spanish which my parents loved! Just added to the authenticity of this restaurant.

Teresa G.

Yelp
Great food! Bring your appetite; one meal and one appetizer filled up the two of us. Rice, beans, and plantain are very filling. The hot sauce is actually hot, too!

Sharon N.

Yelp
Service was nice. Food was good. Ambiance was quiet, a smaller restaurant in Beaverton. Quick service, a little on the expensive side.

David B.

Yelp
From the time of entrance to this great little gem you are amazed! We have been here before and we keep going back! The food, the service, the ambiance and the owners are all amazing!

Mike B.

Yelp
While visiting family I took to Yelp to help with my Puerto Rican food craving , well we weren't disappointed! Met the owner - from Guayama PR , cool guy (either I forgot his name or I didn't get it ) , nice quaint place , nice Caribbean decor and music , and lastly the food , well seasoned and decent portions . When I'm in town again I'll definitely come back - so you should definitely give them a try to satisfy your Boricua food craving !

Ploy N.

Yelp
Got to say this is one of the coolest restaurant I've been to in the Portland area. The indoor seatings are immaculately decorated so that it feels like your dining on the beach in Puerto Rico; amazing. The people that work there are also SUPER friendly. Everybody greets you with a smile and was very helpful with ordering. Unfamiliar with the cuisine, I wasn't sure what to expect but the Chicken Mofongo was delicious! The chicken in traditional Criolla sauce really hit the spot for me; the right amount of sweetness that reminds me of something I've had before. The chicken was also very tender. Pairing that with the crunchy plaintain worked surprisingly well. We also got a side of Maduros which, of course, was great. Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Garlic Yucca side was also good, strong garlic flavors. Do try out all their homemade sauces. My favorite was the vinegarette one, great acidity. Looking forward to being back and trying more things from here!

Victoria K.

Yelp
So my family and I were looking to try something new. This place has a fusion of Caribbean and South American goodness. We ordered the following: 1. 2 sets of Samplers: which had an empanada, a banana fritter, and some tostones. I originally thought the tostones were the sweet plantains (they are the more savory version). I liked the empanada, the banana fritter was a bit slimey, and the tostones were not what I was expecting. 2. Maduros: these are the sweet plantains! and they were everything we were expecting. delicious and sweet with a nice bite! We ended up ordering two sets after our first one. Would get again 3. Mofongo and Trifongo, we got one of EACH. However the flavors tasted very similar to all of us which is why I am lumping it together. The flavor was great. HOWEVER, for one we got chicken and the other we got pork. BOTH meats were undercooked and chewy, however with such a great sauce we couldn't tell and ended up taking it home and realizing how pink it was in the middle. We originally thought it was just a different texture, but it did not work out how we thought it would. I would definitely double check next time, however flavor was ON POINT! 4. Arroz Con Pollo: i loved this chicken and it was perfectly cooked. The rice was flavorful and it was definitely a simple, yet delicious dish. 5. Bistec Encebolldo: this was an awesome dish. I loved the onions and sauce and it was complimentary. I would order this one again as well. Flavors were truly on point at this restaurant. The knock for the star was truly for the undercooked meat and some of the prices. The mofongo and trifongo are definitely pricey, but I do love the taste. I would opt for the mofongo because it was cheaper by a couple of dollars and it was similar in taste to the trifongo. I also loved the pork and for that meat you did NOT pick a sauce since it was already so flavored. If you want to pick your own sauce, choose the chicken or any other meat.

Nathaniel J B.

Yelp
Sorry but would not recommend....Service was just ok and food was forgettable. Nothing tasted fresh or memorable but I'm fairness only tried a few dishes and they have tons of options? Keep in mind not small priced offerings so if ur daring maybe y'all can figure out some must trys snd I'll definitely give it another try? But my rule of thumb is if chicken is over cooked and dry....Nothing will be really good?

Sara P.

Yelp
Definitely give this place a try. Friendly service, good food. Lots of different options including gluten free which is noted on the menu. I've been here several times and haven't had a bad experience. I'll definitely be back!

Angel L.

Yelp
Food tasted great. Service was great. Their dessert is surprisingly also great. Prices are kind of high. It's not an ideal date spot, but the food is solid. Brought a Puerto Rican friend and they were very happy and said the cuisine was on point and authentic. Parking is limited.

John J.

Yelp
Clean and bright inside. Yelp has stellar reviews, so the wife and I made a point of going to Beaverton to try. All I can say is, Wow! Staff was friendly and took the time to explain the different dishes and sauces. We will be back soon!

Tatiana C.

Yelp
Incredible Pernil, Beef Stew, Alcapurrias, Papas Rellenas & more!! Amazing, friendly service, I'll forever be coming back!! I can't wait to try more.

Jonathan X.

Yelp
Their potato balls are delicious! crispy and the mashed potatoes feel light! Their signature pork dish is delicious as well! Pork is well seasoned and I could not stop eating their Mac salad! Would definitely come back again to try their drinks and other dishes as well!

Patrick W.

Yelp
We wanted something "new" vs the usual diverse fare in Beaverton and there's nothing equal to "something different" than cuisine from Puerto Rico smack dab in downtown Beaverton. Right out the gate the Caribbean romance drink was delicious though I wished for more amaretto. We decided on the deep fried pork, chicken stew and marinated steak. All were delicious but the chicken stew was the highlight. Soft, moist and deeply flavorful. Second best was the deep-fried pork in all its glory. The challenge here is the loin portion ends up being a bit dry and the skin while delicious was quite tough. But overall this dish was very flavorful if you like this kind of stuff. Nothing really wrong with the vinegar marinated steak, it just wasn't my favorite, in particular the dryness of the beef. Portions are very large and fair for the price, the truth is you can split some of these dishes or take the remainder home for a second meal. Now for some nitpick comments... their silverware needs to be updated. Was just really hard to scoop up rice and all the yummy goodness with a flat flimsy fork. On a really hot day above 85°, they either need to crank up the AC or just turn it on. It became uncomfortably sweaty for no good reason except for the fact that AC wasn't used. I'm not even sure they have AC. All in all an incredibly unique place with incredibly unique cuisine. Definitely worth a visit, just have a "hole in the wall" mentality and you'll have a great time.

Yelp
First time trying Peruvian food and the service, food, and atmosphere made it! A small space that is easy to make a reservation online via website or walk in. As we were seated and greeted immediately, we were served waters right away and refill waters on each table along with napkins and sauces. The owner, gave great recommendations for us when we mentioned it was our first time and we settled on the appetizer sampler and pork mofongo. The sampler was a great starter and the mofongo was plenty! It is pretty deep so there is quite a bit of food. Pork was very tender and soft , you could tell the labor of slow roasting it took. At first I did wish we ordered some rice, though the owner did say because of the mashed plantains, we probably wouldn't need rice (she was right) as the starch was enough, especially with the sauces. Speaking of sauces, they are all made in house and so good! The may ketchup mixed with the salsa criolla is epic!! The mayo ketchup has the great garlic flavor and the heat from the salsa works well together. We were checked in on quite a bit and given the bill, 2 card limit when checking out. Free wifi available as listed on the menu. I do want to come back and try more dishes, like the rice entrees and more appetizers. There seems to be a lot of cocktail and beverage options.

Yelp
My son and I wanted to try something new so we decided on Puerto Rican food at Boriken for dinner. There are a few spots to the side of the restaurant but and also street parking nearby. Super cute kitchy decor. The staff asked us if it was our first time and since it was he told us about some of the customer favorites - extremely friendly. We ordered the sampler and two entrees, Bistec Empanizado and Arroz con Longanisa and two pina coladas. The drinks were festive with little umbrellas! We enjoyed our meal, it wasn't bad but it wasn't to die for either. It was a good introduction to this type of cuisine.

My Boriqua heart was so happy. My family and I went down the good memory lane. Atmosphere, service and food was outstanding. I cannot wait to go back. I KNOW Puertorican food and let me tell you my daughters and I were very pleased.
