"What It Is: The bar on top of a new hotel in Long Island City Perfect For: Day Drinking We’ve been to a lot of rooftop bars recently, so we can confidently say that many of them are sh*tshows. That’s why we were excited to discover the bar at the top of the Boro Hotel in Long Island City. There was no wait to get in on a recent Saturday night, and the relatively small space - a few couches, tables, and counter seats - has great views of the East River and Manhattan. This hotel also has Beebe’s on its ground floor, so keep it in mind for a one-two punch with a date or small group. The Verdict: You don’t need to go out of your way to drink here, but it’s a good option next time you’re near LIC and want a rooftop where you can actually get in." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg, chris stang, matt tervooren

"A rooftop bar at a new hotel with great views sounds like the kind of place that reaches capacity while you’re still ordering brunch. But that’s not the case with this spot at the top of the Boro Hotel in Long Island City. It’s on the small side - there are just a few couches, tables, and counter seats looking out over LIC and Manhattan - but it rarely gets packed, and it’s a nice spot for a cocktail. We also like Beebe’s (the restaurant on the ground floor), so keep them both in mind for a one-two punch with a date or small group." - bryan kim, matt tervooren

Yelp
This minimalist hotel was a great find for us we stayed 5 nights and were pleased with the room. The staff was gracious and kind and took care of us during our stay. There are two perks daily and that is a complementary coffee bar in the morning and a wine hour in the evening. There is a Beebe's restaurant that is located inside of the hotel so you can purchase pizza. They even have dairy-free cheese available. We picked this hotel for the awesome New York City Skyline view but the neighborhood had a lot to offer. There were several train stations, restaurants, laundromats ans deli's within close proximity. If we stay again I will definitely get a room with a tub.

Yelp
This minimalist hotel is better suited for a 2-night stay if needed. We stayed for 5 nights and we were pleased with the room. So, why the 3-star review, well while the view of Manhattan was spectacular, the room was not what I expected. The exposed walls made the room seem like a dungeon. There was no microwave, no fridge, and no real closet space. The lighting in the room could have been better. You can't sit on the balcony which was disappointing considering the great view. However, the good news is there was a complimentary coffee in the morning and a complimentary wine hour during the evening. The staff was wonderful and provided great care for us during our stay. Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, my Friends!!!!

Yelp
Trigger Warning: Bed Bugs I am writing to share my recent experience at Boro Hotel New York , which is particularly disappointing given that this was my second stay. On my first occasion, I had previously enjoyed excellent customer service and a wonderful experience, which makes this recent incident all the more upsetting. During my latest stay during New York Fashion Week, I discovered bed bugs in my room. Two of there employees confirmed the presence of bed bugs, and I took photos as evidence. Despite being moved to a new room at 1:30 am, the issue with the bed bugs remained unresolved, and the overall response was unsatisfactory. After settling into my new room after 2 a.m., I was still expected to check out by 11 a.m., which felt inconsiderate and insensitive given the events earlier that morning. I also endured a number of bed bug bites in result to this issue. Adding to my frustration, the hotel did not extend or offer to accommodate the washing and dry cleaning of my clothing, which had been exposed by bed bugs. I also have to file a dispute with my credit card company since no accommodations were made.. This lack of support for such a serious issue showed a disregard for guest comfort proper hygiene and protocol. I requested an incident report four times from two different individuals (I have their names), and each time they claimed they did not have access to provide the report. I hope Boro Hotel New York will take this feedback seriously and address both the bed bug problem and the inadequate response from the staff. This experience has unfortunately tarnished my perception of your hotel, which I had previously held in high regard.

Yelp
I was very disappointed. Boro comes across as very miserly in its 'hospitality'. For the price I paid there should have at least been a complementary breakfast. The nightstands are tiny, the bathroom sink too small to put any toiletries on, the lighting poor. The decor is modern and minimal, but not in a good way. Finally, I was kept awake all night by some sort of pipe banging in the walls and my room reeked of weed.

Yelp
What a HORRIBLE experience. The staff is pretentious and outright rude to customers. Paid for multiple upgrades for our engagement trip and not a single one of them were completed upon arrival. The rooms were not ready, the shower didn't work properly, no robes in the room and honestly didn't even seem like the room had been cleaned outside of (hopefully) clean sheets. Was asked during check in to schedule housekeeping and they didn't show up for two days and then was told by the rude lady at the front desk that they don't schedule housekeeping. What an absolute joke of a business. Would recommend you save yourself the headache and find a better hotel.

Yelp
On June 27 I walked over to the Boro Hotel after a friend recommended it I waited for about 15 mins for the front desk personnel (big white lady) finish her cigarette and then proceeded to have a conversation on her phone that made me a little upset and proceeded to tell her that I've been waiting to check in for a room if available and she told me that she was on phone and was talking and walks away I left and proceeded to stay across the street As long as this lady is working there I will not step foot in that hotel ... she is the only downfall because EVERYONE is lovely there

Yelp
Recently, my partner and I stayed at the BORO Hotel in Queens at pretty much the going rate of close to $500 a night. The room could charitably be described as a bunker with amenities, including an unsecured sliding glass door to an unsecured balcony which provided the only possibility of fresh air. For almost the entirety of our stay that night, there was a loud all-night party being held. The cinder-block wall not only did not muffle the voices of screeching partyers, it seemed to magnify the noise. Our attempts to ask the front desk to have security restore enough quiet for a decent night's sleep were about as effective as the walls. The following morning, we sought out a manager in order to file a complaint and ask for a refund for the room because the hotel had failed in its duty to "provide the conditions for a decent night's sleep." There was no manager on the premises, and the assistant positioned behind the picnic table cum front desk informed us that we had a valid complaint and would be contacted by a manager later that day. 2 months later, we've yet to hear back from BORO Hotel. BORO was quite happy to take my money and run away from their responsibility!

Yelp
This hotel is not as pictured online so don't get your hopes up - it's very minimal, but not in a designed way, it rather has prison vibes. Concrete and raw wood everywhere, even the terrace was just steel bars which hurt to stand on. The hotel doesn't have any amenities, no mini fridge, no kettle, no coffee maker, and the TV would only go to one channel. If you want room service, okay, but they won't charge to your room - they ask for a credit card and go downstairs to swipe it and return it back to you. I have never experienced such a thing at any other hotel before. It's general shabby looking like it's never been kept up. Also, the general area around is pretty sketchy with a lot of creepy, drugged out people. Positives: it's dog friendly, and if you are on the west side you have a nice view of Manhattan. But I do not recommend staying here unless you have no other options.

Rhiannon K.

Yelp
I stayed here this past December with my bf at the time. The décor caught our attention with it's industrial modern design - just our style. Upon check-in we noticed the lobby with a little library, lots of seating, and a cafe. They also have a restaurant, which makes things convenient. The woman who helped us check-in was so friendly and kind. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. The room was a little small but so nice with a large balcony and great view. We had a partial view of Manhattan, which was beautiful! Very clean and lots of light with the floor to ceiling windows. Overall great stay and would come again!

Yelp
We had a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The property was clean, quite with a great view of the Manhattan lights. The free happy hour wine was quite good as well. Next visit we will definitely try the restaurant in the Boro Hotel has the food looked really good.

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon in New York, and came across this wonderful hotel. The checking-in process went smooth and were greeted with open arms by David. The restaurant and bar staff (Travis and Cuco) were friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and delivered amazing customer service. The views from our hotel room were amazing! The rooms could be updated with storage space, coffee pot, and TV streaming. The walk to the subway was about 5 minutes and small convenient stores in walking distance. I would stay here again!

Yelp
Five stars. When I went to check in, there were a couple of people going off on the manager. It sounded like the people were upset about a minor frustration, but were making verbal threats. The manager was very calm about what was going on. When it was my turn, he did not seem ruffled and provided me with everything I needed, including a mini fridge and ironing board that I requested. When I saw the manager over my stay, he greeted me by name and opened doors for me. There was also a desk assistant who was very kind and helpful. The showers and bedding were good which is the main thing that I want from a hotel. Bonus points for being in close proximity to transportation and for having an overall upscale atmosphere. Felt very safe walking around the area at night with my little girl. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Gorgeous views in Manhattan and excellent dining a little on the pricier side, came here with friends to celebrate a birthday and would recommend

Yelp
The Boro Hotel crossed my path, I came here to attend a wedding. I have my Yelp gal pal Sara saying they're expected hotel guests to arrive by Uber. Uber this! Long Island City is a strange bird to me, it's not a place where you can stroll the streets amongst the many warehouses. I was able to find street parking not too far from the hotel. Once inside, I'm feeling the chic vibe. I see my buddies in the lobby, back slaps happen and we take the elevator to the roof top. The roof top has a commanding view of the city. Spectacular. The wedding was completed and now we had a cocktail hour. The bartender made some nice drinks, they dropped a few BOPs (Brick oven pizza) on the table as I talked to the various guests. Then, we all jammed into the two elevators to the floor below where the wedding party was starting. The bride and groom kept it simple, buffet style. Carved meat, salmon and roasted vegetables. Very considerate to folks with different dietary needs. The bar was outside on the patio. I thought they had Patron but it was Don Julio. I had the bartender line up shots and we had a party in the sky. If you have a *small* party, The Boro Hotel was a nice place to have an affair. The rooftop alone is worth the price of admission, weather considering.

Yelp
Im not sure if I love or hate this hotel.. I booked it on hotel.com and when arrived it was almost $90 more than the online reservation which was annoying to say the least. Its about a three block walk from the subway station which isnt bad for getting in and out of the city. Check in went quickly and we were off to our room. We were only on the second floor so it wasnt an amazing view but a nice view of the city none the less. The attached restaurant was nice and a great place to have a quick drink and snacks after a long day of travel to NYC. The room.. well the room was very bare bones.. the floors were beautiful and the bathroom was HUGE with the biggest walk in shower ive ever used with amazing water pressure. The bed was super comfortable and I slept so well the few nights we stayed. The windows were HUGE which allowed for so much natural light and if anyone knows anything about it me its how much i love sunlight. Otherwise it was just a room, nothing fancy about it. It actually had weird paneling on the wall with the TV that didnt seem to fit into anything else.

Gabriela G.

Yelp
Shoutout to David at the front desk! Stopped by the front desk to inquire about blocking rooms for a wedding in June. David was extremely helpful and gave us all the information we need. Hotel is minimal but designed and decorated very well. While you're here stop by Beebes for the Nutella bread pudding! Delicious! Haven't stayed here yet but can only imagine how lovely it will be.

Yelp
My review should be read with the understanding that I stay in hotels often for work and I am high maintenance when it comes to hotels. These aren't necessarily make it or break it observations but for me reflect a lack of attention to the comfort of the guest. It's a fine hotel if you want to stay relatively close to the airport but not spend some of the prices the airport hotels charge. I personally wouldn't stay if I was coming to hang out in NY or looking for a place to check in and enjoy the benefits. I'll start by saying the people who checked me in were very nice and very welcoming but check in is still done in paper and they had to find a folder and flip through a pile of documents till they found the forms that applied to me. It took a while and seemed very inefficient. I couldn't tell whether my charge card number was on the document or not but it left me a bit unsettled. Plus, I had to initial in a million of places. Not significant but one signature below a sentence that says I agree to everything above serves the same purpose. The room was a good size but sparse is the understatement. I have stayed at hotels with a similar style but this was a new level. The metal table next to the bed was unstable and the phone took up the majority of the space so if you wanted to use the table for your charging cell phone and a bottle of water you need to put the hotel phone on the floor (which I did). There was a desk and chair. It was awkward because the tv screen was literally over the desk so it made using the laptop awkward. I pulled the desk away from the wall. The television had reception for five channels. It turned on but the message for the majority of channels was "unavailable". There was a message that in bad weather channels may not be available. No bad weather that evening. Not sure what was going on but it was late and I didn't have the energy to ask to get it fixed. Bathroom is good size but there were no wash clothes and no soap on the sink or anything to use to wash your hands. I used the body wash that was in the shower. I was told soap was always in the room and the receptionist apologized sincerely but it made me wonder what else wasn't being paid attention to. Probably won't come back but in a real pinch, if I need to head out on an early flight, and nothing else was inexpensive and close, I may consider a return. (Very nice reception staff!)

Yelp
Booked two identical adjoining rooms at exactly the same time. Went to check in and they insisted one was booked online and the other directly therefore one was $44 more than the other. Uuuummmmm. Booked them at the same time. They then refused to change it. Poor business practices

Maria K.

Yelp
Excellent panoramic views from the rooftop bar and cool music... And delicious pizza at the ground floor restaurant!

Yelp
David is a great manager at the Hotel hotel view is amazing the hotel service is amazing the hotel cleanest is very clean 100% recommend this place

Yelp
Incredible property but hotel comes with a few flaws! I checked in on a Thursday night for a staycation in their King studio room. I picked this room specifically because the tub was the it factor of the room. Check in was a breeze. Their check in desk is unlike a traditional one. The table is low and they have chairs in front of the table which felt very conference like. The woman checked me in and gave me my key and off I was. My 9th floor room was spectacular! The room was enormous! It felt like my own little apartment, no lie. I loved the minimalist decor, the soft wooden floors, the balcony and bathing in the tub was such a treat. This is seriously one of the coolest and most amazing hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. And for the price I paid it was a steal, this type of room feels like it belongs in a $300 a night hotel. The downside: the room was very cold, they brought me up a space heater but I was still freezing. There were no wash cloths in the bathroom, only small towels. The bed was okay but the pillows were amazing. The lighting was also really dim. Customer service I felt could have been better. They didn't seem to really go above or beyond. Also it's in a section of Long Island City with nothing to do and the surroundings are pretty ugly. I didn't leave the hotel because I didn't feel too safe walking anywhere alone and it was a dead residential area. Lastly, the Wifi was terrible! Definitely come here in the summer or spring, I was sad I couldn't utilize the balcony due to coldness and rain!

Natasha G.

Yelp
Staff are fake. Hotel is prevention and overcharged for what you get. Rooms were subpar, you are mainly paying for location. Rooms were a bit dirty and grimy. Not quite impressed. Also walls are very thin, you can hear everything happening around you.

Steve V.

Yelp
Pros: great view of midtown from our room. Cons: - The scent of weed permeated our room. - the bed creaked loudly with the slightest movement. - the toilet kept running like it was "topping off" about every 3 minutes. - technically we had a corner room but not really as the one side only had a sliver of a window. - TV remote only worked if you were really close to it. Wouldn't work from the bed. - TV is too small for the room size - no complimentary coffee.

Gabrielle C.

Yelp
This hotel has a great restaurant. I do highly recommend. Unfortunately, we were misled about the parking situation, which resulted in us getting a $65 parking ticket. I'm writing this review so future guests can avoid this happening to them. We were told by Miriam, who checked us in, that it was no problem to park on the street overnight. So that's what we did. I hung my handicap placard up just to be on the safe side. Sure enough, we found a ticket on our windshield the following morning. As it turns out, they did street sweeping that particular morning. Obviously, we had no idea, and found out the hard way. I called the hotel earlier today, and attempted to ask them to give their guests a heads up about the street sweeping on Friday mornings. It was actually Miriam who answered the phone. She immediately turned defensive when I mentioned that it was actually her who told us it was ok to park there. She said she always tells guests about the parking (she did not), to be sure not to park near a hydrant, because they would tow the car. She said she got a ticket herself last week. There was no professionalism involved in the conversation. She definitely did not plan on owning the fact that she neglected to mention the street sweeping to us. I finally had to hang up on her, because she was becoming more aggressive and defensive, completely missing the point of the phone call. There didn't seem to be any managers on the property to talk to about it, unfortunately. So if you are planning a stay at this hotel, keep in mind that street sweeping is every Friday, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.

Andrew T.

Yelp
The staff were friendly and the tub in the bath suite is great. That's it for the good stuff. I paid about $400 for the bath suite for two nights (per night). I came back after a long day and got to my room at 8:30PM and my room had not been serviced. I was annoyed because it's 37 degrees out and my wife and I need to shower and we have no towels and a dirty bed. I then call the front and they said "Did you ask for your room to be serviced?" Are you kidding me? For almost $900 I have to ask? I have never heard of that. Come here if you need an alright place to stay but do not expect frills. They don't even give you a fridge, closet, or dresser to put your clothes. NOT worth the money!

Barbarajayne E.

Yelp
This hotel for me was closer to a 4.5 than a 5 however because my experience was nice I am rounding up. The hotel is located in Long Island City which is about a 12 min drive away from the city. I personally love staying out in LIC for several reasons. For someone who is familiar with the subway system from my previous visit it really doesn't take too much to get from this hotel to somewhere like Time Square. From the hotel to the 39th subway entrance it took about an 8 mins walk. I picked this hotel for its amazing view of the Manhattan Skyline and it definitely was worth it. Rooms were very minimal and had an industrial feel to it. Lighting in the rooms are minimal however it was sufficient for myself and my boyfriend. Amenities such as a microwave, iron, ice bucket are not in the rooms but can easily be requested. Everything was clean upon arrival and as nurse I am super OCD about these things. Bed was very comfy and I was able to sleep well. Some cons: no drawers to put clothes in, we mostly worked out of our suitcases. There's was a little area for hanging coats and a tiny drawer for maybe intimates. Some things that made this hotel worth it was the View from the balcony, comfy bed, accessible to the subway, and an amazing restaurant (Beebe's) locates adjacent to the lobby. I also like to mention before arriving I noticed a lot of reviews stating the check in process felt impersonal and "cold & dark". However, I did not get that when checking in. Staff was really nice. I will be coming back.

Maria S.

Yelp
Rooms are spacious and pretty plain. The hotel is designed with an industrial look, loft style rooms with amazing skyline views from the balcony. Guest service is friendly and responsive but the hotel amenities are limited and must be requested with the front desk.

Jared S.

Yelp
The lobby had a great vibe. Unfortunately the room wasn't great. It's all cement which can be cool and modern if done right but it's pretty drab. The rooms are poorly constructed segments with little insulation or sound proofing. Also, people were smoking. We got sick. Not sure if it was the cigarettes, air system, allergies or what.

Orlando A.

Yelp
David has excellent costumer service and is very attentive to our requests. If you need anyone you can trust his names is David C. ... thank you for the awesome Customer service . DAVID C Is your guy!!! Highly recommend him!!!

Anna K.

Yelp
We booked this hotel for a week and left after two days. Even though notices are posted on the doors that masks are required, we saw staff interacting with guests without them on and they did not say one word about it. Coming down from our room to go out for the day, we saw police in the lobby. Upon our return several hours later, they were still there. We talked to some residents of the neighborhood who happened to be outside and one of them shook his head and said the presence of cops was a regular occurrence and the hotel has been nothing but trouble for the block since it opened. Beginning at 1 in the morning, we could hear a loud party through the vents. We called down, concerned about both the noise and that the hotel would allow gatherings of over 10 people. The hotel staff member said they would take care of it, but the noise persisted. Finally my partner-at 3 in the morning-went to the source of the noise on the floor above us. He reconnected with the hotel staff and was told that they broke up a party on the floor below and did not realize there was another party on the higher floor-a surprise to us as the hallways on our floor as well as the one above were saturated with both noise and the smell of weed. So to sum up, gentrification and unhappy neighbors + heavy cop presence + lax COVID protocols = 1 miserable star. Actually, the one star is just for the food because Beebe's the restaurant was pretty damn good.

Melissa R.

Yelp
I stayed here with my friend for 2 nights and I don't have a single complaint about my stay. The staffing was great. Although you always have that one person that seems to not want to be around but I guess because it was 4 in the morning ?I had to ask 2 different people about a microwave and the second person was able to help me 100% . Everything else I asked for , I received. The ambiance is beautiful. My favorite part was the tub. Best tub experience ever in a hotel. The tv was a little small and outdated. Would've been nice to watch Netflix.

Laura ..

Yelp
We stayed here for 1 night. Rooms are clean. I am a native New Yorker born and raised in queens. Lic is a work in progress and has come a long way. I lived out of state as my job took me there. I am now going back to ny and working on our house. I came in to take care of business and had reservations at the wybdom. Much to my surprise upon my arrival the wyndom had been taken over a day earlier by nyc to use as a shelter. I along with others scrambled to find rooms. I have a son with disabilities so I needed to find something and regroup. The Boro said they had 1 room with a balcony and it was 499.00 a night. I can't believe I paid that but I did. There is no hotel in lic that should be 500 a night. That same room at the Boro is less than half that on any given day. Yes I paid the amt but surely felt that is way out of line but circumstances dictated at the time. We checked out the next am and stayed at a very nice hotel in the same area for less than half the price. Yes the Boro is a good clean hotel but I can't help but feel taken advantage of under the circumstances

Tatiana J.

Yelp
Rented a room for my gf's birthday. The view of Manhattan through ceiling to floor windows was stunning! Room and hotel were super clean with a crisp and romantic atmosphere. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely stay again.

Katharine -.

Yelp
In love with the vibe, the rooms, and service! It's such a cute hotel which makes it feel like an Airbnb. In other words a cute cozy home away from home. Doesn't have all the amenities inside the room just your standard cozy queen size bed, beautiful views, cute bathroom, and awesome decor. Simplicity at its best. Only thing I would that's a con is the brick floor at the front door entrance. It's not luggage bags friendly, because the wheels get caught in between the brick floor.

Alejandra S.

Yelp
Don't confuse this for an actual hotel, the room literally felt like a bed room with a bathroom, the down part : no mini fridge in the room, for some weird reason i also didn't have a trash can or microwave in my room. There's no draws for your clothes. But definitely was a cozy stay the view was beautiful. Balconies are the definite plus for this hotel, location was convenient about a 15 minute drive to most of my favorite restaurants - Los Amigos Chimichurry to be exact

Jazmin F.

Yelp
This hotel is extremely unprofessional and likes to scam people out of their money. I stayed in the Boro Hotel back in December from the 6-9th and payed a security deposit that was supposed to be returned days after I checked out. I check out on the 9th and was told I would receive my deposit back in 2-3 days and I said okay. The next week I still hadn't received anything back so I made a claim with my bank. They refunded my money that same day and I was content that the situation was done and over with. Until recently I checked my bank statement and I see a $ 404 claim reversal from the boro hotel. I contact my bank and they tell me that I must contact the merchant to resolve the issue and when I call the hotel to talk to a manager or someone to help me they left me on hold with no one on the line for over 20 minutes. They haven't reached back to me or even acknowledged what they did to me. Please don't come here they are just trying to get your money. I am upset to even have to be dealing with this mess months after this trip occurred.

A G.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience. We stayed less than 24 hours and I will never stay there again! The rooms are NOT noise proof and there was a huge party happening upstairs and hotel staff did nothing when I called them 3 times at 2am!! They did not handle the experience well and this speaks volumes about an establishment. The only good thing was Kostantinos at the rooftop bar- he was super friendly and pleasant. Otherwise- the entire place was a bust. Don't stay here- plenty of other options nearby! **UPDATE: management wrote me back and refunded my stay. It was a very prompt response especially for a holiday weekend.

Yelp
They charge an incidental fee for every night. There is no microwave no refrigerator and no iron. I was able to call front desk and ask for iron though. I stayed on the 12th floor the view was nice. Other than the lack of amenities it was a pretty decent hotel. I only used the hotel to sleep so i don't know if the food is good in hotel.

Li-Hsuan H.

Yelp
It is a contemporary style hotel, I will give them this credit being stylish and artistic. I really enjoy their design and how refreshing this space makes you feel! Unfortunately though, I'm not positive I'd choose to stay here again. Here are my reasons: The room is very dark without decent lighting, plus one of the lights by the beds didn't work. The staff came and fixed it but it didn't add much since it's dark out and they only had weaker light bulb available at the time so it didn't improve much. The staff was very thoughtful to bring in another standing light, which is very nice. The floor is not traditional with carpet, which is not a problem. But their floor is dusty and you wouldn't feel comfortable walking on it, which for me is a big no! If they offer slippers, maybe, but I didn't see any. Some reviews complain about there's no coffee machine, I agree. As a 4.5 star rating hotel, what they offer is questionable. The bathroom is splitting into three space- shower, sink, toilet. The shower corner doesn't have door to fully close, so the floor is wet when you step out. Not okay. Their sink is very small and there is barely any space for you to put your personal belongings. It doesn't seem to be problematic until I actually use it. Actually there's no space for you to put your cosmetic bags and clothes; and the light above sink didn't work either. At that point, I just felt tiring to call again. Location - well some might argue the subway station is about 10 minutes away. It's true. 10 minutes isn't horrible. But the location of the hotel isn't at the safest looking area of Long Island City, so it's very spooky to walk back at night from the trains. As sightseeing in NYC, it's rare to go back to hotel before dark. In Long Island City, Aloft and LIC hotel are in a much better, safer, and convenient area than Boro. Unfortunately I couldn't give any higher rating than a three star. I'm glad lots of people like their experiences and that was why I chose here; but I wouldn't recommend to friends who will travel to NYC.

Yelp
The Boro Hotel Overall: 4/5 Staying at the Boro twice allowed me to get a good idea of a couple of the rooms they offered. First was the corner Manhattan view balcony and the second time was the Manhattan view balcony. Only one left would be the Studio Balcony. The whole feel of the hotel is very modern with clean areas and trendy furnishing. The area was a little industrial but allowed for some decent street parking. Staff was very friendly and accommodating with issues that happened the first stay. Overall I enjoyed my stay and look forward to a third visit. Definitely a neat hotel to check out if you are in the area. Room: 5/5 The rooms with the Manhattan view are the highlight of this hotel. You get a great view on the New York city skyline. The balcony was nice to walk out on to take in the site. The bed was very comfortable. Bathrooms are very clean the only downside is there is no fan which I find a lack of in a lot of hotels in the city. Price: 3/5 The price is definitely more on the high end for the area but the overall quality of the rooms and service made up for it. There were some issues the first time I stayed and the manager was very nice to offer me a discount that visit and for my next visit which I thought was going above and beyond to fix the inconveniences.

Yelp
I'm so sorry I have to do this because I had a great experience with this hotel in June of 2018, however, this time i have to say I'm completely disappointed & disgusted with this hotel ! I booked a bathtub room on 12/24 into Christmas. The room was $219 per night & also had a late check out of 3pm. I had to check out of this hotel at 10am the next day. I booked a private massage session in this room for my boyfriend & I. The room was freezing cold from the moment we walk in & our entire massage session although we set the heat up to 83 degrees when we got into the room. I went down to let this issue be known to whoever was on duty & instead of moving us to a room that the heat actually worked, they sent one space heater to my room which barely did the job. I tolerated the cold & everything until I woke up the next day & noticed a brown stain in the sheets that i slept in. I don't know if it was dried blood or what but I'm disgusted. The look on my partners face left me mortified & embarrassed ! We immediately got dress to check out of the hotel. The hotel supervisor refunded me the $19 hotel fee & offered a %15 off credit for my next stay. The supervisor on duty told me that she would speak to housekeeping because the situation was unacceptable and as much as I wanted to accept that as an apology, I cannot. The sight of the stain is living rent free in my mind. I WILL NEVER stay at this hotel again over this experience. I'm completely disgusted & disappointed & embarrassed !

Yelp
I went to New York with a friend who recommend this hotel to celebrate my 50th birthday. The location is awesome. A quick subway ride to New York City and you don't have to pay those tourist prices that you get charged by big chain hotels. The hotel decor is slightly industrial with a chic touch. Our room had an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline , floor to ceiling windows with a balcony to enjoy our bottle of Prosecco that my friend had ordered prior to our arrival. The subway station is conveniently located three blocks away or for a few dollars more you can take an Uber. We had lunch at Beebe's that is located on the main floor. They are known for their old school thin crust pizza. They all sounded so amazing but we decided to combine two pizzas into one. We ordered the Rooftop which comes with fresh mozzarella ,homemade ricotta, Parmesan, arugula, lemon and olive oil and then we took a little bit from another pizza and added some hot Italian sausage. It was DELICIOUS. The owner Antonia stopped by our table to introduce herself and say hello. We told her we were in town celebrating my 50th birthday and she sent over some complimentary appetizers as well. (Thank you Antonia, if you are reading this) On our final evening we went to the rooftop bar to enjoy a slightly dirty vodka martini and enjoy the sunset view of the Manhattans skyline. I highly recommend you check out this hidden gem. Yes

Yelp
They're very good at saying that they're sorry, not so good at actually making things right. Be prepared to hear it a lot from the staff. The good: - The wifi works well enough. The shower is nice. The front desk is nice. Everything else: - Nowhere to unload your luggage, so be prepared to haul your luggage through the hood to check in. It seems to be street parking only in a not so nice residential/industrial area. - The restaurant is okay but you'd better like pizza because that's all it does well. - Rooms are small and substandard. We spent 3 nights at a cost of hundreds per night to be put in a room with literally one light bulb. We thought it was just a stupid design decision until we were moved our last night into a room that had a normal number of light bulbs. We spent three evenings in almost complete darkness. - It's a 4 star hotel only in that they charge extra for everything. I can see why they have open availability at all times. No ice machines (which normally I'd be fine with, but I'd relied on having one as my hand is currently swollen), no pen and paper for taking notes, no bath tub (wish I'd known - a real dealbreaker). - No fridge in room. I was hoping to be able to store leftovers and freeze my reusable ice pack for my hand. - Housekeeping service doesn't do a thorough job. Toilet was still dirty after housekeeping service, dirty towels were removed but not replaced, toiletries and daily water bottles were not replaced. On a particularly cold day, they turned off the heat and let the room get quite cold. - The rooms seem to have an issue keeping warm. I know, it was 19 degrees fahrenheit, but still I expect a hotel room to be able to stay warm. I mean, it's NYC. This isn't abnormal weather. The next day, a space heater was provided to compensate, but the rooms seemed quite drafty and poorly insulated. - Last note: please extend the complimentary coffee service. 8am seems unreasonably early to cut off the coffee. It's not like there are any conveniently located coffee shops nearby (there's nothing conveniently nearby except another hotel and sketchy hood). We're very, very sorry... that we're a poorly managed hotel.

Yelp
Really nice restaurant on the first floor with opened veranda. It seems that the owner and a few of waiters are Italians so the pizza is really authentic, crispy and reach as it should be. I tried tequila and mezcal base cocktails, which also were great.

Yelp
We stayed here for about 2 nights after coming back from Miami. The lobby area is very modern and artsy and check in was quick and easy. When we got to our room it was really big and spacious. The bed was also really comfy! It is a beautiful room with windows that covered one side of the room which provided a nice view and lots of sunlight shining through in the morning. There was a little balcony space but we didn't really use it much because it was cold. The bathroom was big and nice, always stocked with natural lotion and hair wash (really great smell to them). We watched a lot of movies because we were pretty tired from drinking 24/7 in Miami. That being said, the cable was really great! Lots of channels to choose from. con: the bathroom was so close to the bed! Literally a few steps away! Other than that, it was a great stay!

Yelp
I stayed here for Valentine's Day and all I have to say is that I can hear whatever is happening next door. Right now is 1:44a.m, their music and talking I can hear very clearly. I think we are playing the same Spotify radio...lol If you value your privacy, take a second thought. But it does have good night views at night.

Yelp
Can I please start off with the horrible front desk receptionist. She needs to work on greeting customers, her energy was unwelcoming and rude. Everyone has there days but this is a job and is wasn't just her it was everyone at the front desk, very sad looking people. We got a room with a balcony which we where originally scared of choosing due to the cold weather. Hoping that the heat in the room would be great, it wasn't. Super cold, we stayed for 2 nights and left the heater running but no improvement, we had to sleep with the hot water running with the bathroom door open. very disappointing granted the amount of money we spend on the room. Very sad like hotel. No one greats you at the door, not even to help with bags. Me and my husband traveled to our car three times in the COLD weather to get our bags. This hotel shouldn't be considered as a 4 star hotel if someone cant even help with your bags . If your looking for a great place to stay your better off at a motel, save your money , time and energy.
