Not a ton of hotel options in Borrego Springs but this one is solid. Nice rooms, outdoor tubs, fireplaces, etc. (Bonus, depending: adults only.)

The property is lovely in every way. It's quiet and serene and feels like a "world away". We really enjoyed the pool, the private patio, and the complimentary breakfast delivered to our room. We felt as if we had the entire property to ourselves. A great place to re-set!

Fantastic breakfast! Very comfortable bed and room. Very clean. Close to everything. We especially enjoyed the quiet private patio. The grounds and buildings are stylish and beautiful. A very quiet inn, where all you hear are the birds and water fountain. We will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a real gem! It has the best views in Borrego Valley!!! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We really enjoyed the paintings on the lobby. The room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully decorated and even has a very private patio. The breakfast delivered every morning to our room was very delicious. The hotel was ideally situated, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. The hotel also provided a secure and safe environment, making us feel comfortable and at ease during our stay. Very convenient parking and proximity to our room. We are eve planning to stay again at this beautiful hotel for Borrego Days. We highly recommend Borrego Valley Inn to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay!!

Google
what a beautiful inn. The room was so warm and comfortable and the bed and pillows delightful. The breakfast was served to each room on a bed tray. What a neat touch... The same fare you might find at most hotels with a complimentary breakfast but the personalized delivery made it extra special. The hammock was a must for star gazing at 3:00 a.m. Can't wait to go back!

The Borrego valley inn was great. It's an invisible hotel so totally virtually run. No checking in or interacting with staff unless there's an issue. Bring slippers/ flip flops for the hard floors and to protect from cactus needles. There was a cute little sink/food/microwave/refrigerator area. Room was very clean and had a jacuzzi. Borrego is in the middle of nowhere. Central Market which is a small grocery store is down the street. Everything closes at 8pm or earlier even on the weekend. It was great for one night. Keep in mind it's a clothing optional hotel but it was so hot we stayed in our room.

Second time enjoyed a romantic getaway to this wonderful spot. Quiet and beautiful highly recommend. Use as a base to go hiking or take in the nice pool and you watch the sun go down. A fun sculpture collection is near by to check out. Rooms have adorable adobe touches.

It's a beautiful property with very comfortable rooms. It was fantastically silent while I was there, and the breakfast was perfect! Love the look of the property, and the pool was a huge plus, especially in June. I would love to go back and stay longer.

Loved my peaceful and relaxing stay. Mountain views all around and private patio and front porch provided tons for room for R&R. The two pools provide great options and the "knock & drop" breakfast was a bonus. Love the Southwestern vibe in the desert. My new go-to spot in Borrego.

Yelp
Adorable Inn with convenient/complimentary breakfast brought to you at the time you choose. Convenient location (so close to the visitor center and restaurants)! We spontaneously booked a one night stay here and it was lovely! The only trouble is when we arrived around 6:30pm, no one was in the office. We called the after-hours phone line so many times and no one picked up!! We decided to drive to get dinner first and someone called us then. They made the check-in process easy from there. There is a code on the door. There is a spacious parking lot and so many cute decorations to take pictures with and of. The room itself was spacious and was cute. We appreciated the breakfast so much cause it was brought to us in a tray and the weather was perfect to eat it outside. It was a tasty breakfast and their granola seemed home made! Would definitely come back but it is pricey. You could def just view stars in your enclosed backyard cause the whole city purposely doesn't have bright lights on. I appreciated that so much!

Yelp
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Nice, comfortable, adults-only value. We were in Unit 15, next to the lobby/office. It's a King suite, with a full-size kitchen and little private patio with grill and furniture--bigger than most one bedroom apartments in LA, probably. Certain things were worn, and we could've used things like a colander and a kitchen sponge for washing dishes, but we made do. There were two pools, one of which is clothing optional. That one had a wooden fence around it. We took a gander late one night; we opted to keep our clothes on, but there was only one other couple, who also decided to keep their clothes on. This facility is adults only, hallelujah, and it's pretty much all sell-serve, a holdover from the pandemic that's stuck, apparently. Overall we had a very pleasant stay; would stay here again, especially considering their proximity to the park.

Yelp
The Mrs. and I spent last night at the Borrego Valley Inn. I think I should clarify that many of the pictures and reviews for this place are inaccurate and appear to be related to another property. It will be perfectly obvious to you when you arrive to find there is no old west town, restaurant, or saloon. We arrived at the inn around 4:45 yesterday. Check-in was simple. You are sent an email with your room number and door code. There is no human interaction at all. Now I've read some reviews from my fellow Yelpers about how they don't like the non-interactive check-in process and blame COVID, the government, etc. All I'll say is get over yourselves and sit down. This is the second place we've stayed at that had non-interactive check-in and frankly, there is no issue with it in my view. Borrego Valley Inn is made up of a series of adobe structures consisting of fourteen casitas and a main building. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with desert plants. Two pools are available for your enjoyment. One pool is clothing optional for those of you who hate tan lines or just want to get free and loose in the desert. We stayed in casita number six. It isn't a large room, but comfortable. There is a comfortable bed with lots of pillows. A small couch, coffee table and tv. A kitchenette with a mini fridge and a nicely appointed bathroom. Each casita has a private enclosed patio. So if you don't want to be naked and free in the pool you can do it in the privacy of your own patio. A small assortment of snacks and half bottles of wine are available for purchase in your room. As usual, they are pricey. A light breakfast is included with your stay. It was really good and beautifully presented. The only downside is it doesn't include coffee. There is a very small coffeemaker in your casita, but you only get one bag of regular coffee or decaf. I would suggest ordering more from housekeeping if you're staying longer than one night. Last night we partook of the clothing mandatory pool. I wasn't quite at the point where I wanted to set my manhood free to swim and frolic with others in an aquatic setting. The water had to be 85 degrees and the pool was a great place to look at the stars. Overall, we'd stay at the Borrego Valley Inn again. It's quiet and comfortable. The Mrs. booked it through Groupon. The inn is owned by Highway West Vacations who own numerous other properties. One of those being the Sideways Inn in Buellton.

Yelp
All I can say is... WOW, WHAT A FIND! Sister adventure full of zigs and zags and toys place just jumped into our path! And boy are we glad it did! First off, I love the themed western town. This was so right up my alley! Rooms are not themed but the whole resort is set in the old west. Heated pool and hot tub. Complimentary cookies and beer or wine at checkin. Nice extra that really made us feel appreciated as guests. They have a restaurant on site. So we belly-upped to the bar at the saloon, where Nick, the traveling bartender, poured us a couple of nice glasses of wine and handed us a menu for the attached eatery. We ordered a couple of specialty burgers for $11 and he brought it to the bar for our enjoyment. Now, the burgers were in the smaller side and don't come with a side (additional cost if you want) but boy did they pack a punch in the flavor department! We had the magic mushroom and the Ortega chile burger. Both amazing but we both agreed the chile burger was the best! We finished our wine and burger just in time to watch the most amazing sunset! The sky was lit with pinks and couldn't have been more perfect! Off to our room we went. Staying in the Pony Express building, we had a lovely view of the sky. (Note: second stories offer wonderful views and some with balconies, but there are no elevators). The room was spacious. Beds were comfortable. I appreciated the large pool towels in the room! Room art was a little strange, but who really cares about pictures? We bought a bottle of wine at the store in the main lodge, poured into some plastic cups and headed to the pool. The pool was warm-ish. My sister couldn't handle the cooler water, but I'm all about the polar bear swings and i thought it felt great. The hot tub was perfect! Not too hot but hot enough to soothe the tired muscles from the days drive. The entire town of Borrego Springs is committed to DARK SKY, so you can really enjoy the night sky without a bunch of city lights. It was nearly a full moon when we stayed... but I will definitely come back for a No Moon stay! In the morning we opened our door to a spectacular sunrise! Took a walk around the grounds and admired the quiet desert resort. It's really well done! It also hosts an RV park and next door is a vintage RV park as well, which was fun to drive through. This place is a hidden gem in a quiet yet beautiful desert community!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at Borrego Valley Inn -# Mesquite Queen w/ fireplace. Completely contact-less, coordination is done through Email, text and phone. Check-in details were spot on. Breakfast was prompt and it was a knock and drop. Additional refresh request (e.g. towels) is handled through door sign and/or text. Place is clean with all the perks of a microwave, coffee maker, utensils, etc. outdoor patio space was an added bonus as you can have your meals outside, lounge or simply stargaze! Definitely will be back again!!!

Yelp
Found a deal to stay at this inn for a weekend. Was looking for a place close enough to take the motorcycle to but far enough to feel like i'm getting away. Absolutely no fault to the inn at all, but I booked the deal in May for a July visit. Given covid and government changing it's mind all the time, there was back and forth if I would be able to keep my reservation or not. I bring this up because the Inn did a great job keeping me posted and I sympathize with local small businesses who are being tugged back and forth if they can be operational or not. In the end, very happy was able to complete the visit and, honestly, I LOVED this place. Took the motorcycle here. The ride in was so much fun with the winding roads and great view. The hotel has a lovely adobe / mission style to it. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. I personally liked the digital check in. I know there were other people there because there were cars parked but only ever saw the maid. Soooo basically felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Jacuzzi is down because of health reasons, which was fine, it was super small and hot outside anyway. The "adult" pool was undergoing repairs. BUT the normal pool was open. Each room looked like it has a little private patio which I used to lounge and stare at the stars when it was dark and sunbathe when it was bright. Lastly, the bed was great. The part I dread the most with hotels is if the bed is going to be lumpy/too stiff/too soft. This bed was perfect and I slept so good. Great way to refresh and getaway :)

Yelp
Our Own Personal Desert Oasis! The decor felt like it sent us to another time and place. The little things like various cactus and antiques through the property were amazing. Loved the clothing optional pool! Our group cooked our food back there...it was perfect. The bench in the desert was perfect for stargazing.

Yelp
Do you enjoy having you or your loved ones discriminated against? Look no further! Borrego Valley Inn will kick you out of your room and let you enjoy the dessert sun no matter how young you are! Age discrimination, what's that? Are you 17 years old? If so, your too young to enjoy Borrego Valley Inn, hope you brought your sunscreen. How about my 9 month old son? Yup, nice scorching hot sun for him! Make sure you read the entire description, because if you miss the part that states NO CHILDREN (as I did and other reasonable patrons might) and you show up to your hotel expecting somebody with compassion to forgive you and still accommodate you, then your out of luck at Borrego Valley Inn. I myself am a simple man with a simple brain. I look at photos of the room and the price and hit the purchase button. If I had to read every single description paragraph of every single hotel I've ever booked by now I would've died of old age. I pray you read those words. I pray you are not one of the disgusting vile creatures (people ages 0-17) that Borrego Valley Inn protects their other customers from. Yelp
Our stay was March 9-12th. My husband and I agree with the disappointing reviews from March 6, 2023 and October 2022. Absence of, stinginess, low quality of food, beverages, breakfast, coffee. No people or welcoming service providers. It's actually almost weird in fact. Unfortunately this was our 32nd anniversary splurge, and we don't recommend anyone else paying $400/night. The grounds and general buildings-rooms and courtyard features are lovely - and it seems that BVI banks on that primarily. Why no lounge service? we were told by a person we happened to see: "Maybe in about 2 weeks."...Just odd and unwelcoming. They should take some boastings off the website. It is apparent the owners/managers/supervisors do not do rounds to inspect rooms and grounds as if THEY were guests. The other reviewers detailed the issues. Things like no lighting from the parking lot to the courtyard. We let Cristine know this and all other issues by text within hours, after an auto text arrived asking us to rate our stay so far. We loved our stay because of the location and the general setting - the big sky was the best. Just lastly, again, folks - NOT for $400 a night.

Yelp
Very nice place to stay while visiting Borrego Springs. Clean rooms, coffee maker and coffee included. Plates, silverware, glassware. Small refrigerator, private outdoor seating area to star gaze. Breakfast is extra and comes with a muffin, yogurt, granola, and juice. The only downside is there is no Wifi. We were told the tower went down in the storm. There is a restaurant to order to go food from. Very kind staff. Felt safe during the covid time.

Sarah H.

Yelp
We have loved this spot for years. Very thoughtful amenities provided such as breakfast brought to you (fresh OJ, granola, yogurt, croissants, watermelon, each in their individual glass containers and jars). Beautiful views of Indian Head, nice room with cute little items such as mugs, wine glasses, cloth napkins, nice mini fridge and microwave. Great spot for bird watching. Saw folks with binoculars. So peaceful.

Yelp
We stayed at the property again in Jan 2022 and the original owners have sold it to Highway West Vacations. The property is still nice but an employee working for the resort company backed a trailer into our three-month-old car and caused over $2000.00 damage. I called the number on the note left on my windshield (see attachment) and was told by the person on the line that the damage could not have been caused by their employee because they only drive golf carts. My insurance covered the damage and to my knowledge Highway West Vacations has taken no responsibility. I was parked in a proper space and the parking area is huge. The company has not offered so much as an apology. We stayed there many times since they opened and always had a very good experience. They did not post my original review and I doubt they will allow us back after they read this one.

Yelp
Very nice stay at the Borrego Valley Inn. Conveniently located. Beautiful property and grounds. Had an amazing time enjoying the night sky and stars gazing at the whirl pool. Friendly staff and awesome breakfast delivers at the door every morning.

Yelp
I have loved this place in the past (pre-Covid) but I cannot say that it has kept up its reputation for the price paid. It is still a lovely location with great views, two heated pools (one private clothing optional pool and one regular), and the casitas are southwest quaint. The inn is quiet and as stated before, no children or pets are accommodated at this property. But here are the cons: 1) The cost of over 400 per night for the smallest room without fireplace is not worth it. 2) The bed was hot, and very noisy. When we peered under the mattress a particle board was used to stabilize, and thus accounted for the trapping of heat while we slept. Please purchase some pine slats to secure the bed or better yet invest in a new frame. 3) Borrego Valley had a reputation for service and customer interaction, but now there is very little staff around, and no welcome coffee or tea or water and cookies at check in, like there had been. There is a cooler with ice with sign that says not to fill up your own cooler. That's your greeting upon arrival! 4) The Borrego Valley Inn in the past had a coffee and tea service in the morning before the amazing breakfast, but not anymore. They had tiny coffee makers in the room with a packet or two of coffee and a microwave to heat hot water for the tea, but the water from the sink is terrible tasting and undrinkable. 5) The breakfast is not what we would expect from an expensive Inn. There are two tiny yogurts a couple of tablespoons of granola, with two Pillsbury croissants with butter (no jam), and some chopped melon salad brought to your door at 8am at the earliest. At least the orange juice was fresh squeezed. The lack of protein, and caffeine was not a good start to our hike that morning. 6) The cleaning and breakfast person, the only staff I saw on premise, were kind but had no real say on why the offerings were so poor. Unless Borrego Valley Inn plans on reducing their rates to come in line with their current service model and offerings, or returns to the Inn of hospitality that made me want to pay this price, sad to say, I will not be returning.

Yelp
I've been trying to get in touch with this resort going on day 3...absolutely no call back, not one human being answers the phone. I have questions about the resort which the website cannot answer and have been totally blown off by the 'humans' that supposedly run this place. Please take your business elsewhere, whomever is managing this place needs a big lesson to learn. A group of us were interested in staying here in November, but no more, we're done Don't waste your time

Yelp
Just got back from two great nights at this gem of a location. Found it online and it was just what we were looking for. Quiet. Secluded. Relaxing. Quirky and fabulous! Check is so easy and they are wonderful to call and text ahead of time. Our room was ready early. We were happy to see how clean and nice everything was. Great bed. So comfortable on the last day we looked to see who made it. Cute couch and fireplace (gives off a ton of heat). Lovely patio. Blankets/towels/wine glasses/plates/cups - everything you need! We brought some snacks and used the fridge. Grounds are nice and well kept. Only saw 2 other couples the entire time and the place is zen. I was thrilled it is adults only as we were there for a couples weekend. Breakfast was adorable. Brought when requested and on a beautiful tray. Yummy granola, fresh fruit, oj and pastries. Used both jacuzzis and thoroughly enjoyed them. Water was hot (as expected) and both were clean. Didn't use the pool but it felt warm. We had both places to ourselves each night. Beautiful stars outso we did star gaze too Would totally go back to Borrego Valley Inn and plan to. Everything we expected and more.

Yelp
Purchased a voucher for this place on Travelzoo and forgot about it and realized it expired at the end of this month. I was assigned room 2 and when I opened the door I was shocked to see a room that's probably 300 square feet with one queen bed. If you're claustrophobic it might be an issue. I did my research and checked Yelp photos to see what I should/could bring and most of the photos here show a spacious room which comes with a kitchen and fire place, but the room I got was smaller than a studio apt in New York. I needed a bigger room so I called the front desk and asked for a double bed and was told there are only single queen beds in each room and the kitchen and fire place was located in their suite. They didn't offer it to me so I'm assuming it was booked (my reservation was for Tuesday/Wednesday checking out Thursday), BUT it was pretty dead out there. I was relocated to the kitschy Palm Canyon Resort down the road for a bigger room. I called using their phone in the room and it actually calls the Palm Canyon Resort front desk and not the front desk on the property. I will say this place is an absolute dream and room 2 is perfect for a single person or a couple getting away, but be aware that everything closes at 6 p.m. here and the nearest fast food place is about 30 minutes away (drive there at night is SUPER dark). This place is perfect for someone trying to escape the city or go "off the grid" glamping style. It's definitely one of the last places in California that are untouched and this Inn is a gem in the desert.

Mike W.

Yelp
Enjoyed our overnight stay. Pool (not the fenced one) has nice views of the mountains. Breakfast (during covid) was well presented. Only suggestion would be to have coffee service vs brewing in room. Room was unique. Southwestern style, almost felt like being in New Mexico. Nice private seating out back and then chairs out front to watch the sunset. Carmelita's Mexican food down the road had great outdoor seating and service.

Yelp
On short notice for an adventure to see some pretty neat things, I had checked around the area for a room, and this place seemed to be the only place with rooms left. Begrudgingly I pulled the trigger on the $250 a night room charge for the BVI Mesquite Superior Queen Room with Fireplace and packed my things to arrive on a Saturday morning. After a long drive to get out there, as I was getting close I called the front desk about checking in a tad early. There was no Answer. I tried a few more times with the same result each time. So eventually when I arrived I parked and walked in. There were zero people at the front desk. A cleaning lady with a cart full of towels and soaps happened to be walking past, and I politely asked her about check in procedure. She told me to check my email. Curious, I pulled out my phone, and as it turned out I indeed had a recent email from the Borrego Inn. In the email, it had my room number, the keycode for my doorlock to the room and all the other information I was looking for a person to give me. Welcome to people-less check-in thanks to the Covid. Nice. I was also informed that instead of continental breakfast in the lobby, I had yogurt and granola all packed up nice and neat in the mini-fridge. That's nice of them. So, I entered the room, and it was really neat. Beautiful bathroom area took up one whole end of the place. It was Nice. It was Tidy. There were towels for the pool, shower and hands neatly stacked on shelves, coffee cups, silverware and dishes for the breakfast (and leftover pizza from lunch) soaps and shampoos and other bathroom supplies were also included. I checked the fridge to put my warm sodas and spotted my yogurt and granola. Way nice! So I decided to cool off from the scorching inferno outside. I cranked the AC down to 65, and then lit the fake fireplace to warm the place up a bit. I turned on the boob tube. I had a variety of channels, and it was all terrible. I was quickly reminded why I had canceled cable at home years ago. So the place is way nice! I would absolutely highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area...and while I'd be absolutely file with a $80 dollar motel six, I am learning that $250 rooms are way super nice. Bonus fact to close out the review - In my research, I found that the pool is actually a clothing options one. Thankfully when I visited the pool, people had opted to wear suites.

Yelp
Very cute spot & great customer service. You get there & have your own cute little room + private patio for star gazing. And all around there is a 360 view of mountains. Pool + hot tub too. Also very close to grocery and other restaurants. Highly recommend if you're coming around here.

Yelp
Love this place, but: when we booked our recent stay, the website was down and (due to understandable staff shortages) the phone is hardly ever answered. So as not to be shut out, we booked through hotels.com. That worked fine, but it meant we missed out on the hotel's promo offer: stay 3 nights, get one free. Also, had we been able to speak to staff, we might have booked a larger room. In the event, we had to take what hotels.com offered. BVI, if you read this, can we at least get the promo bonus somehow?

Yelp
This is one charming inn I have stayed at Borrego Springs. The room is clean and amenities are standard except that we did not have a microwave oven. According to the management, it is only available upon request. Each door has a code to access your unit, the breakfast for the next morning was already in the fridge on a cute basket upon check in. I love the beautiful town and experience during my stay - I would definitely be back.

Yelp
We used to frequently enjoy this hotel but haven't been in years. We will not be returning unless management makes some major changes. First the good: 1. I like the coded room doors. No more carrying around a key. 2. The breakfast tray, while sparse, is nicely presented and on time. 3. The grounds are well maintained although I noticed that many landscaping and entry lights were not working. 4. Room was nice and clean and nicely decorated although some of the newer decor items were out of character to the theme. 5. Overall vibe is relaxing and quiet. Appreciate the adults only environment. Now for the problems: 1. Terrible WiFi. Too spotty and weak to allow streaming of any kind, including music, which made for a pretty lackluster room ambiance. 2. No contact check in would've been great if they sent your check in email with your room code more than an hour before your arrival. As it is, you get the email while you're driving through the mountains (with no signal) and, once you arrive, the WiFi is too weak to allow email access. Lucky for us somebody was onsite to print out our arrival package or we'd have been unable to enter our room. 3. This brings me to the lack of on-site staff. As anyone who has tried to call the resort with a question or for a live booking already knows, reaching a live person is not possible. Nor is getting a call back. I left several messages over a couple of weeks saying I wanted to book but had questions and never received a call back. If you need anything that's missing from your room, forget it. There's nobody, NOBODY, there. Our room didn't have hot water for 2 days. Every guest I asked said they didn't have hot water either. We kept waiting to see a staff member and sending text messages but couldn't get any help. I finally went to the "emergency" phone outside the front doors of the lobby which reached someone at home. They promptly sent a repairman who turned up the water heater. Problem FINALLY solved. 4. Shower in our room had a lot of damage to the tiles and the hot and cold water were reversed from how they were marked (yes, we thought of this while trying to get hot water). At an expensive high end hotel this is an unforced error. 5. Linens (towels, robes, bedding) were all low quality, old/frayed, scratchy and uncomfortable. Pillows were too big and kind of ate your head. I found this to be quite claustrophobic. 6. This is a small thing but goes to overall lack of attention to detail; all of the light fixtures were on dimmable switches BUT the dimmable bulbs were all replaced with bulbs which could not be dimmed. So a light was either on or off. No in between. Impossible to create any ambiance. It was particularly annoying that you couldn't dim the reading lights which are located in the ceiling directly above your face when in bed. So either you couldn't see or were being blinded with the power of the sun. Not exactly relaxing or romantic. 7. There are absolutely no activities at this resort outside of the pools. Therefore most people spend their days lounging around the pool when not in their rooms or off the property. This, however, was not possible during our stay. The pools and Jacuzzi were swarming, SWARMING, with hordes of beetles that were eating the algae (!) In the tile grout lines!!! I was sitting on the side with me feet dangling in the pool when I saw them. When I looked more closely and saw what they were eating I literally almost vomited. I jumped up and went and rinsed my legs off in my room's (ice cold) shower. When I eventually reached the lady about the not having hot water I asked her about the bugs. She said they came in on a storm and their pool guy didn't know how to get rid of them. I contended that if there weren't algae in the tile grout lines there wouldn't be anything for them to eat and they'd leave. HORRIFYING! You know, I have hot water in my sparkling clean shower at home. My pool and jacuzzi don't have algae and beetles in them. I have high speed WiFi and can stream whatever I want. When I pay a lot of money to go to a resort I expect to be pampered, not ignored. I expect luxe amenities, not headaches. I expect working infrastructure. I expect service. I expect cleanliness. The only reason BVI is receiving 2 stars is because the agreed to refund they days I had prepaid when I left early, which they could easily have refused to do. When we left we went to La Casa del Zorro a few miles away and had all their expectations met. They too had the beetles in their pools but, since there was zero algae in their tiles, there was nothing for them to eat so we're talking like one beetle per sq ft, not hundreds (thousands?). This place needs A LOT of close attention to being it back to its former glory.

Yelp
I really love this hotel but really disappointed in the customer service I received from Cristitna. I was sent a review after our stay and I did let them know we were a little disappointed that we had no internet throughout our 3 day stay, half of the channels did not come through on the TV, I filled out a casita refresh card and never received our items, I had also texted the number given on a card in the room that stated we could text this number if we needed any assistance (I texted the number and never received a response) 760-302-6219. I receive a message from Cristina and she stated that she in charge of casita refresh during our stay and that she did not see that on our card and she also stated she may have missed it. I responded to her to let her know the casita refresh was indeed missed because I filled it out on the same card we used for our breakfast. We received our breakfast so I know the card was ready and clearly the casita refresh I filled out on the opposite side was missed (that's ok, mistakes happen). I then asked Cristina if the number given to guests in their room is not monitored as I had lost my sunglasses at the pool on Saturday, texted the help number, and never received a response. This is where it goes downhill. I sent Cristina a screenshot of the message I sent to the number asking about sunglasses. The text chain had messages also sent above it from September. The prior messages were dated September and the new message I sent had the word "Saturday" above it because I had sent the message last saturday. Cristina became argumentative with me and said "I'm sorry Ms. Nelson but the messages on this chain have been responded too. It is part of our daily duty to respond using our Ivy texting app. Like I also mentioned to you I was on duty this past weekend. The picture text you have sent shows a date of September 17 and 18th, 2021?" I let her know that the prior messages in the chain have a date of September above them and that the most recent message I sent has the word "saturday" above it because it was sent last saturday. If it was sent in september it would also have the word september above. With that being said, why would I lie about when I lost my sunglasses? I explained to Cristina to look at the date above the most recent message, it says "saturday" and I explained the prior messages were from September. She did not respond. I also asked Cristina to check the Ivy app that she referenced and she will see that I did indeed send a message last saturday asking if anyone found my sunglasses. I would really like to speak to the owner regarding this. We love this hotel and I am really saddened by how I was treated. There was no ownership taken by Cristina that she missed my text message in the Ivy app and she also stated multiple times "she was in charge during our stay and never got a text and never saw a casita refesh" as she said "don't recall seeing any requests for your room". Insinuating that I am making this up. She instead wanted to argue and say that she responded to all messages. I highly recommend someone check the Ivy app and verify I sent a message last saturday about my lost item and never received a response. If you leave a review afterwards be forewarned that Cristina will not take ownership and instead try to make you feel like you didn't actually send a text for help or fill out a casita refresh card.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I enjoyed an amazing getaway at this resort. The property and surrounding areas were beautiful. I loved the decor and layout of the room. It was so quiet we were whispering as we walked the courtyard area. The stars were breathtaking and we escaped the cold with the nice warm fireplace. They also include a bonus delicious breakfast in the morning. Will definitely return.

Yelp
the room is very nice; esp the private patio. both pools are nice. Breakfast IS elegantly plated; but it would only feed a 105 lb. person. Also, there is NO on site service; and worse, the remote service is almost non-existent. It took them 20 hours to respond to a "fireplace not working" call. When they did finally respond, we got a "you idiot, the old thermostat [nowhere near the Fireplace] controls it" response. When we did crank it up, it did work, but then the exhaust fan (which goes on after u turn it off to cool it down) sounded like the unit was going to blow up. luckily it went off after 20 very loud minutes; or else we probably would have called the Fire Dept.

Yelp
This place is so stinking cute! It's clean, modern, well appointed and quiet. There are 2 pool areas both with hot tubs. The grounds are lovely with desert plants, well placed sitting areas and southwestern items like earthern pots and wagon wheels placed here and there for decoration. I can't think of one thing that is lacking...except maybe a bar next door lol.

Yelp
This place is truly a hidden gem. We were only there for one night but have to say that we had the best night's sleep! The place is so quiet and peaceful and our room was tastefully decorated. We loved star gazing from the comfort of our private patio lounge chairs. We had a corner unit, which I highly recommend. The property was immaculate and had nice garden art. Our complimentary breakfast was delicious and delivered to our door on time. I only have two complaints: the low water pressure in the shower and we would have liked a window covering on the bathroom window. It was the one in the unit that did not have a window covering, which makes no sense. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
Margy No life or atmosphere. Breakfast non existent. Best Western serves gourmet breakfasts in comparison. Only one person in office and very disinterested. Was like staying in a ghost resort. Expensive for what it was. Road noise loud when windows or patio door open. Could be a very nice place to stay with changes from management.

Yelp
Intimate yet rustic luxurious place to use as vase of operations during exploration of Anza Borrego. Enjoyed the private patio and quaint charm of the rooms of this modestly sized property 15 rooms). During the peak season, hot items are served for breakfast along with fresh juice, fruits, and veggies. Enjoyed the service and attentiveness from Angela at Reception. Can't wait to visit again.

Yelp
Gorgeous site -- even though it's right next to one of the main roads, it's very quiet. The room we stayed in (#1) was very comfortable, clean, and spacious. The shower was large & the water pressure fantastic. There's also a microwave, coffee maker, sink, and assorted plates, glasses, silverware, etc. The grounds are lovely, and the pools and hot tubs clean and welcoming. We used the hot tub each night, and had it to ourselves. Breakfast both mornings was delicious (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, toast, tons of fruit, tomatoes, avocados, etc). We enjoyed stargazing from our patio each evening. The only critique we'd have is the WiFi is terribly slow. We were there for peace and quiet, but it'd be nice to be able to do last minute research online efficiently. We'd be happy to stay here again!

Yelp
We were recommended to stay by family who's stayed at Borrego Valley Inn previously. The special touches and attention to detail were much appreciated. Private Jacuzzi and pools, hiking out our back door, breakfast/snacks awaiting us. Very special- much thanks! I'm surprised there aren't more reviews. It may be because it's an intimate property and we who love it don't want to share... too much!

Yelp
Mmmm. I thought I had reviewed the Borrego Valley Inn last year. But, can't find it. The Borrego Valley Inn is not only a hidden desert jewel located east of San Diego, but a wonderful place to relax and have your artistic senses revived and stimulated. The buildings, rooms, grounds, and decorative fixtures all combine into a resultant refreshing mental experience. The Inn and grounds are beautiful in themselves, but also have been decorated tastefully and with talent. It is wonderful just to sit outside on native wood mission chairs, beverage in hand, and take in the garden that is located in and around the Inn. This was our second annual visit. Both times, we stayed two nights and were blissfully and magically transformed by the experience. The staff is very attentive, the breakfasts are more than was expected, and the room, as with last year, was really superb...and as we have stayed in many inns and upscale hotels, when I tell you that these haven inn rooms are exceptionally well decorated, equipped, and accessorized, it is by comparison with many other inn and hotel experiences. Each room is decorated with native American artifacts, microwave, fireplace, iTunes device, and antique area-appropriate furnishings are all there. Each room has a private garden with gate. Fireplaces are in the room, lobby and outside in an al fresco dining area. The grounds are a veritable art gallery with many places being Kodak moments in themselves. You imagine you're in paradise, but the coyote cries and moon rising over the near by mountain peaks return you to reality. We will be back. Hopefully next year. Oh, there is, I believe, a 3-day minimum stay required. But, don't take this seriously.. With both stays, we wait listed ourselves and got in for a two-day stay. Do this, it's definitely worth it. Enjoy!

Yelp
We just came back from a WONDERFUL night spent at Borrego Valley Inn. The room we stayed in (Desert Lilly) was gorgeous with a fireplace and private patio. The grounds are so peaceful and beautiful - love the aviary with all the little birds! We enjoyed a warm welcome from Kathy, who walked us to our room with fresh cookies in hand. During the evening, we star-gazed and listened to a pack of coyotes running through. So magical! The next morning, we watched the sun rise over the mountains and enjoyed their extended continental breakfast. Chatted with Leslie (a fellow Canadian turned Californian who was manning reception that AM). Enjoyed the hot tubs and were on our merry way. Totally awesome and will absolutely be back! (Just a note: the reception closes at 6PM, so keep that in mind if you're coming from other parks within the area e.g. Joshua Tree, Salton Sea, Anza-Borrego, etc. We arrived just in the nick of time! Kathy would have left keys for us, but it's always nice to see a person when you're arriving at a new hotel/B&B.)

Yelp
I've stayed at Borrego Valley Inn at least 3 times in the past 2 months. I was hoping for a few days to just relax at Borrego Valley Inn's Jacuzzi and Pool. But, these last 2 times I stayed there, the Jacuzzi was NOT even close to the temperature in which I could even enjoy it!! The majority of people, generally expect a Jacuzzi to be] at least 104 to 108 degrees. Hopefully, MANAGEMENT can direct the proper person, "to get it right" so others can enjoy the use of their property to the fullest.

Yelp
We arrived with a room code and were the only ones on the property. Everything was impressive. The grounds immaculate and well appointed with art and plants appropriate for the area. Our room had a beautiful patio with views of the mountain. The room was better appointed than some 5 star hotels we have stayed in. The room had everything we needed. Robes and towels for the pools. Cloth napkins, silverware and real glasses (no plastic) except for the ones to use by the pool. A coffee maker and music players. Our fireplace put out a lot of heat. We enjoyed their delicious basket breakfast on the exterior porch with rocking chairs. The bed was an Eastern King and we slept quite well. The walls kept outside noise outside. We utilized the fridge for our dinner leftovers and beverages we brought. The staff were friendly and helpful in the morning. Other guests had arrived but I assume the thick walls kept us from hearing much movement outside of our rooms. The only minor issue was the TV, it was probably more of a cable or remote issue. We had to punch in each channel instead of just being able to surf them. There was no online guide so a paper guide would have bene helpful to find the game or when we wanted to retire with a movie. It was late and we didn't care to call and see if there was one but it was just missing. Not a big deal There were so many nice spots on site from the lobby, the lobby patio with fireplace, various seating on the grounds and the pools to enjoy. The place just looked really inviting on the inside and outside. Truly a delight and worth 5 stars!

Yelp
I stayed here in December 2021 and my experience was bad, especially for a $200+ night property. I was supposed to stay 2 nights. The first night there was a pool malfunction and there was a siren-like noise going off and on all night. The next morning they said a repair man was there. By noon on that day, it was not repaired and I decided to leave to avoid another sleepless night. I called immediately and left a message for some type of consideration due to this, and subsequently left 2 or 3 more messages - no response! A $200+ property that boasts that it is quiet should at least respond.

Yelp
Bed bugs No problem in the Spring 4/19 but just returned 8/1/19,,,,,,,,,,, both of us had bites from the bed in room #3, 2 nights in a row. I've contacted the reservation people and would really like to hear back from management..it's been a week.... We love this place, but now I'm afraid to return.

Yelp
Probably the best kept secret beside the fact it sits next to the largest California State park. Rich & Gwen run this adorable B & B with rooms that are just too Southwest cute to describe. We rented most the rooms their for our friends and family the year we got married. Breakfast is delicious. Activities galore in the area. Trust me And for an intimate getaway? You couldn't ask for anything better. Try it. Btw there is way too much to see in the landscape of this desert in just 1 weekend...it draws you back.

Yelp
We came here for my wife's birthday and we're looking for a quaint and quiet place to recharge and get away from it all. An adults only oasis, Borrego Valley Inn seemed like the perfect place we were looking for and decided to give it a try. I called to ensure my reservation was still good before I embarked on the long windy drive from the San Diego area as I hadn't received any communications since two weeks prior and was getting nervous because initially I had a hard time reaching a real person to confirm there were gluten free breakfast options available. The receptionist reassured me we would receive our check-in email by noon which we did. When we arrived, we were very happy with the grounds an amenities. We enjoyed the property quite a bit and spent a lot of time by the pool which was very quiet and peaceful, particularly at night when you can see the stars. My only complaints would be the limited breakfast options which we decided to skip in favor of a local cafe, no house keeping service, and poor bedding you get for high end hotel prices. The sheets were very scratchy and the bed was so hard that we didn't get but a few hours of sleep. Because of the bedding, I was more tired than when I arrived. We wanted so much to enjoy this place, but I definitely wouldn't return.

Yelp
AMAZING!!!!! My husband and I have been staying on our anniversary for the last 3 years. The place is beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. I want to say that even though it is now no contact check in, this year the staff was so incredible to us! Sadly, on this visit my husband had been fighting stage 4 cancer. The first person Juanita, could not have been nicer! She helped us with wine glasses, comforters, and any single thing we asked for. Not to mention she is just a sweet, sweet, heart! Breakfasts were outstanding! Secondly, Christina and Lily were amazing! When we were not happy with our room location, they immediately helped us find a way to move it! It sure meant a lot to us. Also when our fire place was not lighting the friendly Lalo, had it fixed in 15 minutes. These people went above and beyond to help us make some very precious memories. We will always be grateful! Some people complain that they do not allow kids or pets. True, I would love to bring my grandkids and dog. However it would change the whole vibe of the place. It is actually nice to have some alone time in the beautiful desert. My only complaint, the pool man! He claims he measured the temperature of the spa, I don't believe it. It was WAY to cold. Either his thermometer was broken, or his reading wrong. And although he claims it can only be 102 it was for sure not. Also even though he may claim the state won't allow it to be warmer, I do not think they send spa monitors out to resorts to check temps. Not to mention, he was not very nice. We will continue to be life long patrons, and hope to have many more memories at this beautiful spot! And thank, thank, thank, you Juanita, Christina, Lily, and Lalo!

Yelp
This review is only about their cancelation service. They charge the money for one day after you book the hotel. It wasn't a deposit, but they just do that. I booked the hotel through booking.com and unfortunately I couldn't make the trip. because Booking.com provides free cancelation, I canceled the trip. But until now I haven't got my money back, according to booking.com they should return money within 15 working days, until now I haven't hear anything from them and they don't reply emails back to the Booking.com as well. I'm contacting my own bank now and they still hold the money for some reason. Their rules is to hold the money even when you don't show up on thanksgiving days, but then they have an arrangement with Booking.com that states you can cancel the booking for free and you will get a full refund. I want to use them for my next trip, but now....I'm not that sure anymore. So be careful when you book at this place. ========= UPDATE: They finally refunded the money and replied my emails when I requested my bank to check for it. I cancel the booking first week of November and I got my money back on the last day of December.

Yelp
Wonderful!! Great room and slept like a baby, spent 3 nights. And we got to experience a desert rain storm. The surrounding mountains were covered with snow!! Wish we could stay for the ensuing bloom. Breakfast was beautiful and the coffee was outstanding. Be back soon!!

Yelp
Took an impromptu getaway here because we wanted to see the stars and just be away from civilization. Received an email day of check in from the inn with instructions since they are an invisible hotel, meaning we check ourselves in, which I thought was pretty cool. Our room was adorable, clean and spacious. They had little amenities if you wanted to adventure around, like a lantern and basket for a picnic, which were cute touches. Each room has an outdoor private patio which was probably the best part of the stay. We stargazed out there for a few hours since you could see the Milky Way and thousands, and I mean thousands of stars. Even though we saw a few guests, it was very quiet and serene. The only negative is that we were woken up at 8:45 by a house keeper knocking at our door. I opened the door to find her standing there without a cart (kind of found that odd). I asked her how can I help you, and she just said nothing and started to walk away. I confirmed the check out was 11am and she said yes. So yeah, kind of weird. Apart from that mishap, I can definitely say we will be back in the winter to take advantage of the room with a hot tub.

Yelp
Such a lovely place. We stayed one night but it left a great feeling. Small room but more than adequate. Nicely furnished. Only ding is my husband and I have achy hips and the bed was too hard for us to be real comfortable; we really need a very soft bed and most places just don't offer that. The breakfast spread was perfect; fruit, yogurt, cheese, toast and coffee. All I ever need!

Jay D.

Yelp
This Inn is incredible. But lets start at the beginning. It isn't easy to get there and if you are driving anything bigger than a van, you'll need to seriously consider your route. But once you've arrived, wow! Everything is superb. The stars are awesome and the private patios from which to view them is the perfect place to cuddle up with a blanket and a sweetheart and witness the grandeur of the creation. There are two hot tubs and two swimming pools that can be accessed twenty four hours a day, which is another way to view the heavens. Breakfast, even during a pandemic when other hotels are offering yucky paper bag snacks, the Borrego Valley Inn provided a classy meal. I travel a lot and the Borrego Valley Inn is among the nicest places my wife and I have ever enjoyed.

Gary K.

Yelp
Borrego Springs (there are no springs in Borrego Springs) was an unexpected delight, and the Borrego Valley Inn was a treat. We'll be returning.
