Best Restaurants Around the South Recommended by Atlanta Chefs and Bartenders | Eater Atlanta

"This is where Lazy Betty’s executive chef and partner Aaron Phillips makes sure to swing by when he and his family are on a road trip. “It’s right on the water with beautiful views of the harbor, and you get to see the fishing boats come in with their daily catch,” he says. “There’s an open view of the room where they butcher all the fish, so you get to see your fresh catch being prepared. My kids love watching all of the action, and the food is always spot on.”" - Kris Martins

We knew the wait at Boshamps would be long, and it was quoted at 2.5 hours when we arrived, but we decided to stick it out because the food is always worth it. We grabbed a spot on the deck by the docks, enjoyed the live music, watched the beautiful sunset and the boats come and go. The time passed quicker than expected, and we were seated in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. By then, we were starving and started with three appetizers: the Oysters Rockefeller, sautéed crab claws, and the smoked tuna dip. All were delicious, but I have to say the smoked tuna dip was hands down the best I’ve had in Destin. For our entrées, we each tried something different. I had the pan-roasted grouper, and it was phenomenal, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The others in our group raved about their dishes too, but I think I picked the best one! Overall, it was absolutely worth the wait. Great food, great atmosphere, and a true Destin dining experience.

We had a great view from the outside patio. Javier was an amazing and attentive waiter making sure to answer any questions and giving suggestions. After lunch we went and laid on the hammocks they had it was a very nice time. The best food weve had on this trip. Pulled pork sliders are great. My friend got their grouper and liked it as well. We also got spinach and artichoke dip.

This restaurant is always on our list when we come to town. We enjoy sitting outside by the water and watching the boats. Parking is limited and usually there is a wait. But we’ve got it down to an art with getting there a bit before the doors unlock at 11 am. Catch of the day is fresh and what Florida trips are all about. When I have the kids to help me the tuna dip is a favorite. The husband isn’t into sea food but there are options for those weirdos too. Steak salad. Pork sliders. To name a couple. The kids menu has plenty of options too. We tend to purchase the dog shirts too. This year was awesome with some new options. Going at the end of the season sizes and options are usually picked over. This is a local favorite for us between the fresh food and the atmosphere. I highly suggest you put this stop in your trip!

Eating here made my trip. Our server Kaylee was hands down the best service we’ve ever had. I tend to find that since we are a younger couple(early twenties) dining in we usually get dismissed or ignored but Kaylee was attentive, gave great recommendations and made our time very enjoyable. Now onto the food, we got a dozen raw oysters which were amazing and so fresh, I got the original snapper Destin which melted in my mouth and was so creamy. My boyfriend got the catch of the day which was swordfish and he’s a picky eater, never really eats fish but thanks to Kaylee convincing him he loved it and ate everything on his plate. We both got desserts, he got the chocolate cake ad I got the ice cream sundae after Kaylee said it was life changing which it truly was. We had the best food and amazing service. Will definitely come back before our trip ends.

A great restaurant with a waterfront view. Our new favorite appetizer is blue crab claws, and theirs are excellent. I ordered the oyster po'boy and my wife the grouper sandwich. Neither of them could have been any better. Our server Javier was friendly and attentive and made the experience even better.

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on July 3rd, and I must say, the experience was delightful. The staff members who greeted us were exceptionally friendly and professional, and our server was incredibly kind, informing us about the daily specials. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful sunny weather. For my meal, I selected the pasta and oysters. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the pasta was truly spectacular, complemented by the delicious drinks. I inquired about the restaurant's name, and our server explained the heartwarming story behind it, revealing that the owner's three dogs inspired the first three letters. It was such a sweet detail. I would certainly return, although I attempted to visit again on the 4th of July, but it was quite busy. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try; I believe you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Google
Delish!! Food was worth the bit of all wait! Everyone was happily satisfied with our menu selections! Waiting at the dock.side bar was a fun way to spend the time! We each chose meals from the standards menu and were not disappointed. Its now our #1 go-to when we come to Destin! Bon appetite 💜

Google
This place is amazing..We went on the 4th of July and there was s long wait but it was well worth it. First they had complimentary valet parking . They have a large oitaide seating area while you wait that is on the harbor. They have a bar outside and you can drinks while you wait. The cocktails are delicious. They have corn hole to play , hammocks and there was live music . Now to the show stopper ...the food . OMG . The oysters were so good ..Juicy , fresh, just perfect . We had the grouper, the snapper and the sword fish all cooked to perfection . I would drive the 5 hours from my home just to eat here .

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere, the back area with the view was beautiful. We got the dinner steak and seafood was perfect, highly recommend ,one of the better restaurants that we went to.

Yelp
This restaurant provides a diverse setting with indoor/ outdoor bar seating on a first come first serve basis. They also have seated dining options. We went on a Sunday evening and were able to tune in to a live band by the ocean as we waited for availability. This place is pretty popular and they do not take reservations, so we scouted for a seat at the indoor bar. Service was great! Servers/ bartenders are friendly and attentive. Food: for a starter we tried the seasoned crab claws and they were delicious. As far as entrees, we had the pan seared grouper with a souffléd feta and spinach and the OG Destin Snapper. Both entrees were fantastic and unique dishes. Overall, this place is a MUST if you are in Destin. Enjoy!

Yelp
This place is super busy for dinner! The seafood is great but the wait time is a major negative. A table for six took 2 hrs (signed in at 4:45 PM on a Saturday night). There is complimentary valet parking available! If you're in a group the first one there needs to immediately signup for a table. Then head for the bar to find chairs. The barrels are open seating too. Then wait a couple of hours for your table. Matt ("Grit") is a great bartender. You can order from the full menu at the bar if you can't wait for a table, which I highly recommend! They allow kids to sit and eat in the bar area. We had the calamari and it was ok. The presentation is great but it was a bit chewy. Make sure you order seafood because out of dishes we ordered the seafood ones were amazing. The original red snapper is probably the best dish. The BBQ chicken was a bit too sweet. The duck dish was seasoned very well to include the sauce but the duck itself was ok. The bread pudding was a very tasty dessert.

Yelp
Mediocre food and idiotic, unfriendly service. Plus ridiculous wait times. Would never do it again with so many great options close by. "Three and a half hour wait" is what we were told when we drove up, and also at the hostess stand. Ok. I don't think it'll be that long, but so warned if that is the case (and believe me the review is not due to a long wait). So we settled in for a long wait. Surprisingly few people around for such a long wait. That's when we noticed the dozens of open tables and also employees standing around. What's up with this place?? Not enough kitchen help? Oh well - like I said, we were prepared to wait. That's when the ridiculous service rules came to light. Went to the bar to see if we could get some drinks, and maybe an appetizer. Drinks, sure, so long as you're ok with the super surly bartender. Appetizer? No way. Cause you're on a bench 15 feet from the bar. Appetizers are only served AT the bar OR at the barrel tables around the bar. Ok, whatever. After a while we thought maybe we could forego a table and eat at the bar, or maybe at those little barrel tables? More rules. At the bar tables we can get DRINKS and APPETIZERS, but not ENTREES!! Get it??! Now if we were actually seated at the bar proper, we could get FULL SERVICE DINING. Otherwise, no luck!! So many rules for a 20 foot radius. Finally got seated, and our waitress was the highlight of the evening. Got pimento cheese and crab claws to start. The claws were average, the pimento cheese appetizer underwhelming. For mains we had a burger (meh - pretty mid) and the *signature* Original Snapper (sub Grouper as they were out of Snapper) Destin. The waitress said it was a James Beard award dish. Well, ol' James must have been having an off night, cause it was so, so average. Overcooked fish and mediocre everything else. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Yelp
We must have been there on a bad day. Came in at 2:30 for late lunch to beat the dinner crown and try out the restraunt. Was seated right away, and had a "waitress" at the table in a short time. Drink orders taken, when the drinks arrived we gave our 4 person order. Last we show of the waitress, grandkids had both finished their drinks and I had to ask another server if we could have a refill. When the food was served the kids both enjoyed the chicken tenders/fries. My wife had order a salad and it wasn't even served with the meal, the waitress said "I guess you won't need that now". I had order the fried oyster basket, I informed the waitress that they were raw, and again she seemed to not care. I felt bad about having bother the waitress. Maybe we got there on a bad day.

Yelp
When we arrived we were informed it would be a 2 hour wait. We sat at some open tables at the bar were would could order drinks and appetizers. While we enjoyed that 4 seats became available at the bar so we moved there were you can order from the full menu and canceled our table position in line. Not sure if it would've taken the full 2 hours or not. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Great oysters, shrimp, and other types of fish. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant overlooking the water.

Yelp
It's best to get here as early as you can. Came on a Sunday at 7pm and they didn't have any tables available for seating. They were already at capacity and had a long wait for those who wanted a table. However, bar seating is a free for all and there are 2 bars, one outdoors and one indoors. There was only two of us so with a couple laps around each bar we were able to squeeze ourselves into the corner of the inside bar which wasn't too bad. The bartender was very nice and accommodating. We ordered oysters to start which were big and fresh. I had the grouper over the feta pie which was delicious. The swordfish was a bit dry however. And the sauce didn't seem to help all that much. Also ordered drinks. I found the spiked lemonade to be very sweet but the Manhattan was good.

Yelp
It's been a minute but prices have gone up, naturally and do has the experience! It's always been good but it's top tier these days! Ohhmy!!! We had an hour wait on a Friday evening but sitting on the back porch was an experience itself. The time flew by! The Original snapper destin was on point! The red potatoes ? Ohhhh my! Special special meal! It is pricey It is worth it

Yelp
My family and I, arrived in Destin this afternoon from Atlanta, and Boshamps came highly recommended. I, had the original fresh oysters for starters, and the original snapper for main, the children did the same, and the chef's special for my husband! All were really delicious! The original snapper had the perfect combination of flavors and a crunch of nuts to tie it all together! The original vision of the place to provide the authentic gulf to table is realized in each bite of food on the plate. You will not regret choosing the options I mentioned! A little pricey at $48 a plate, and if you add a starter, drink and desert, you are looking at $85 - 100 easy! but you are paying for an experience, because that is what it is! The view is another thing! Choose the outdoors seating for the best view of the gulf waters and expensive boats!!

Yelp
Food was as good as I remember it being. We have been coming here for years. They could switch their menu up a bit but why try to fix what isn't broke? Awesome service, awesome food, incredible harbor views and drinks are always great too. Food is fresh and honestly.. if you're going to splurge and n a meal, why not let it be Boshamps?

Yelp
Wow wow wowza!!!!! If only could give 10/5 stars I would. Our waitress Taryn was out of this world. Our drinks never emptied, she was so quick, polite, and helpful. It felt like knowing a friend for years having her. The wait was long, as expected always here. We went in knowing it could take a couple hours but I promise it is well worth it. Parking can be cumbersome but they have complimentary valet. Also, there's a beach out back, multiple bars, a life band, and a boardwalk to keep you entertained while you wait. The food is phenomenal!!! The oysters here are truly the best in town - so fresh and clean. We also had the calamari, the feta cheese app, the duck, the original snapper, fried snapper, ribeye, and their wedge salad. Each thing was just as amazing as the next. We left smiling with our food babies popping out. Will definitely go to time and time again when we're in town. A classic, a favorite, perfection.

Yelp
Solid choice for good seafood. Busy at lunchtime, crazy busy after 4 pm. BLUF, the food is good and there's plenty of it, but like with every other Destin seafood place, expect a spendy bill. We had the smoked tuna dip, brisket sandwich and the snapper/grouper basket with extra fries instead of coleslaw. Basket was really good, no gripes. Brisket was just okay at best. My only real gripe is with the Smoked Tuna dip. The menu states that it's "served with saltines and pickled vegetables." The dip itself was really tasty and came with saltines as stated. The "pickled vegetables" was more like just one asparagus spear, some strawberries, a slice of apple, a slice of peach, I think a kumquat and some kind of squishy green thing that resembled a grape. A suggestion to the management, when you say "served with pickled vegetables", stick with vegetables. The pickled fruits were pretty gross and not at all what I'd want with smoked tuna dip. Carrots, asparagus, cucumbers, etc? Yes. Fruit? I can't say I'd ever even want to try a pickled strawberry. Besides that, our server was nice, efficient, and attended to us just right. Water glasses and sodas stayed full without even asking. Parking and even getting into the place after 4 can be a beast, so plan ahead. They have a free valet, but still expect a traffic jam.

Yelp
I'm probably in the minority, but Boshamps was mid at best. The interior is big and open so sound carries. We were 'lucky' enough to be sat next to a table that was clearly on their 20th+ drink and were extremely loud. Maybe that set the tone for the lackluster meal, not sure. Our server was nice, but only recommended the highest price options on the menu. Our table opted for the spin dip app, a grouper meal and the spring chicken. The spin dip came in a small cast iron dish that honestly was enough for one person let alone a full table. Grouper was good, no complaints there. The chicken however, was terrible. It's a massive piece of chicken, that has a thick almost charred skin on it. It was almost impossible to cut into with the knife on the table and our server never checked on us so we could request different cutlery. I worked harder on trying to get meat off than I ever have with any meal. I can see the appeal of this place, but for the price, service, ambiance it's a pass for me.

Yelp
If you are going here for anything other than seafood (I'm not a seafood fan like my family haha), it's mediocre at best. I ordered a burger. It came out wrong; wrong cheese (I ordered gruyere), it was *not* cooked medium well. When I finally got my correct order, it was okay. Nothing impressive. The meat was not seasoned notably at all. Honestly felt like a diner burger. The fries are super basic and clearly deep-fried in (most likely) seed oils. I was expecting something more upscale, but really it felt more generic. Again, I can't speak to the seafood, just the burger. Our server was super kind and attentive though, and we were able to sit by a table near the windows with views of the harbor!

Yelp
Very good gulf seafood, attentive friendly service and perfect location at the sport fish dock. I like this spot for lunch. Lots of TVs with sports. Whatever you want from the bar. I stick with the basics, crab and grouper or snapper. Yum

Yelp
This restaurant is fabulous. Order the steak! Yes oysters are fabulous and so is the fish but the steak was phenomenal! The service is great!

Yelp
We went there as we were in Destin for a a martial arts tournament and Boshamps was recommended by a friend. This was a GREAT recommendation. This place does not take reservations or call ahead seating. We were seated outside and it was a perfect night for outdoor dining. We started with calamari, fish dip, and feta dip. The calamari was good. Fish dip was very good and the pickled sides were crazy good. The feta dip was surprisingly good and the naan that came with was delicious! For drinks, I started with the old fashioned. The bartender did an excellent job! The wife had a Miami Vice. The cruise ships must have had us spoiled because we were expecting a swirl of pina colada and strawberry daiquiri. It was all mixed together. Not bad but not expected. My next drink was one of my favorites- Gold Rush. This was a fail. I had this replaced with another Old Fashioned- delicious. For main courses, the lil guy got the fried crawfish in the Boshamps basket . I would love to do a review but he DEMOLISHED the dish... so I have to assume it was good. The wife had the pan roasted gulf grouper. I don't even know how to describe this beauty of a dish. The feta soufflé was incredible and the fish was cooked perfectly with the tomato jam being a perfect counter point. 8.5/10. I had the Original Snapper Destin - just order the dish!! I'm coming back just for this dish! 9/10. The service was superb and the complimentary valet parking was great. We did not have desert this time but will next time.

Yelp
Me and my husband ordered the Fried Green tomatoes and jumbo lump crab and Pan sautéed gulf snapper to share. It was so good l, we wished we ordered two of them. Our friends ordered the raw oysters and blue crab claws. It was all amazing. Food was very delicious. Service was fast. Atmosphere was beach like. We sat at bar height tables outside. They have indoor seating as well. The service was quick and on point to what we asked for. Waiter was friendly and good at his job The only complaint is the price, but the quality of food was excellent.

Yelp
Phenomenal food! Perfect location, great atmosphere, & exceptional service. We highly recommend as a must stop!!

Yelp
This was our first visit to Boschamp's. Great food and friendly service. Nice that they offer free valet parking. Had to wait 90 minutes for our table, but we were able to catch a table in the bar for drinks and an app. Ordered blackened red snapper and grouper entrees along with the pecan crusted grouper. Both entrees and sides were great. Cocktails were good as well. Overall a great experience!
google avatar

Yelp
We go here every time we come to Destin...sometimes multiple times. The Snapper Destin is my favorite dish of all time. You'll have to wait a while but you can wait out back, take in the views, a few drinks, and some live music. Boshamps is hands down the best place to eat in Destin, and it's not particularly close.
google avatar

Stacy E.

Yelp
The food was good. We had oysters and a salad with fried shrimp. The shrimp were big and delicious. The presentation of the summer salad was pretty with a fresh variety of lettuce and berries! The service is fast and overly attentive which is way better than waiting but if you're trying to relax and enjoy your evening then go to a smaller setting. This restaurant is a fast paced, loud, crowded and super busy tourist place. It's huge! The valet parking backs up the parking lot so we had to walk since Uber couldn't pull up and there was a 3 hour wait to get a table so we went sit at the bar which also serves food! The back is great for kids but it is on the water so be prepared to watch your little ones very closely! There was live music out back that we enjoyed after eating! I probably wouldn't come back here since I'm from Louisiana and have access to many seafood restaurants that are as good or better without the wait, noise & crowd but I do understand the appeal to dine here!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
The food here was good, we came for lunch and we asked to sit outside. We had our luggage with us because we had to leave sandestin but our flight kept getting delayed so they offered to hold it for us which was nice. The location is on the harbor so you can't really see the beach which is ok. The food was delicious, absolutely no complaints. I was so upset I couldn't take my leftovers on the plane but it was definitely a portion for the both of us that was ENOUGH! I would definitely come back if I was in this area again.
google avatar

Yelp
Boshamps is a Destin, FL delicacy. Don't let the long wait scare you, you can get a drink and oysters at the bar and enjoy the beautiful views while you wait. The vibes are 10/10 and you will want to savor every bite of your meal. The pan seared gulf grouper was yum and the feta cheese soufflé was superb. Very friendly wait staff, too! Boshamps will get you right!
google avatar

Matthew N.

Yelp
We were out on a boat all morning and decided it was time for a big lunch! Took the family to Boahamps, sat outside on the covered patio overlooking the harbor. The server and runners were very friendly and were quick to deliver the food for our party of 6z. I am personally not a huge seafood fan but my wife 2/4 kids are so I chalked one up for the team. The food was plentiful and the seafood lovers were very pleased. I ordered the burger and it was well portioned, juicy and bun to meat ratio was spot on. This is a good option when on the emerald coast.
google avatar

Mayra R.

Yelp
Food was excellent, but a bit pricey for what you get. The wait is terrible, but makes it awful is the stuffiness of the restaurant. They should really invest in having proper air conditioning. The vents looked old and moldy. The service was ok, but again it's a tourist attraction area so I understand the business. I just feel that for the price they charge the restaurant can definitely be cleaner and fresh.
google avatar

Danny P.

Yelp
A classic American fish house vibe. The service was great and friendly. A local favorite and the Boshamp Oysters are a must have.

Mike G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and gorgeous views of the bay. A little pricey for what you get and can be long wait during tourist season but a really Fun spot for food and drinks.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
We popped in here for a late afternoon lunch-there was a 30 minute wait for a table but several chairs at the bar. We enjoyed full service where we tried the Sautéed crab claws and the Smoked tuna dip for appetizers. Absolute fantastic flavors. For lunch we had the fried grouper sandwich, highly recommend.

Yelp
It was my last day visiting Destin and I definitely wanted to check out Boshamps Oyster House before I leave. We went to Boshamps for dinner on a rainy night. We sat in the patio with covers and heating and it was fun! My friend can't have shellfish she the Snapper and it was delicious. I ordered 3 different types of oysters as my meal. - oysters Boshamp, oysters Rockefeller, and oysters Bienville. All of them were delicious in their own way, but my favorite was the Rockefeller. The Bienville stuffed me up, so if you like quantity, the Bienville is the way to do it. I want to visit again soon!
google avatar

Eileen L.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way into town. Sat outside. Drinks were strong but I prefer that to watered down. Drafts were good. Oyster were delicious. I feel like grilled bread would be better than crackers at this price point but not a problem. We had no wait. We sat at the bar. It was great. Kids loved the little beach and catching hermit crabs.

Yelp
Great food and great service! The shrimp roll was so good and fresh! Also had a blackberry whiskey sour, it was delicious. Lily our server was great!

Yelp
The food! The ambience! The service! REALLY LIVES UP TO THE HYPE! I get super wary of seafood restaurants on the water... it's always a hit or miss. And with all these seafood places having an average of 3 stars in Destin... I really don't like to waste money on so-so food. These seafood prices ain't cheap! This is hubby and I's very first time in Destin and I really wanted my first meal here to be one for the books. (He could care less) So of course, SEAFOOD restaurant here we come! We're on the Gulf Coast after all! I took to YELP and the recommendations did not fail me. This restaurant delivered!!! FOOD: I ordered the Fresh Catch of the Day Choices included Grouper, Snapper, or Swordfish I went with the Snapper... fried. On a bed of cheese grits with okra and tomatoes. Oh my goodness that first bite was everything! The crunch from the batter then the beautiful moist texture of the fish... it was so fresh and delicious! Flavor was not missing... again another fear of mine lol. Huge portion! You won't be disappointed. AMBIENCE Sunset views were beautiful. The restaurant is situated in an area where you can see the hotels across the water and the boats on the harbor There's a huge TV if you're one of those people who have to watch something like you're in a sports bar lol but it certainly doesn't obstruct the beauty of the harbor itself. Some fun stuff in the back, featuring a sandy area with corn hole, chairs, hammock. You can dip your toes in the water if you like! SERVICE We had a friendly server, Tyler. Great personality and took great care of everyone around us (4 tables in his section at the time) He was quick, right on time when needed and checked on us often enough! I'm a little embarrassed that he noticed I inhaled my food in what seemed like 10 seconds. I couldn't stop stuffing my face! Can't ask for better service, he was wonderful! Shout out to him, our interaction with him was very pleasant and he was genuinely kind!
google avatar

Donna L.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Not to crowded. Had grouper sandwich. It was very tasty, but the piece of fish was small, especially for the price. It sits on the harbor so it's a nice view, but to hot for day we went. I would say it's pretty touristy but that's the way most restaurants are in Destin. Service was good & our server was very pleasant.

Yelp
Best seafood chowder on the island Best grouper sandwich on the island Relaxing atmosphere great view

Yelp
Sit down folks and let me pontificate on this restaurant. I love everything about this place the location is easy to get to, since I have some mobility issues these days the steps are easy to negotiate with good railing. The atmosphere is fun and up beat from the host to the server. The views are amazing at sunset! We had a bit of a wait in mid September. I decided to try the Big Al's Old Fashioned, it is make with Knob Creek Rye which has a very distinctive flavor but it was serve a Maraschino cherry that adds a little too much sweetness to the drink (Ky girl issues) give this drink a 4 out of 5 but I loved the bar and the atmosphere. When we got to our table we had an awesome server! We split a cup of the gumbo and "The Original" Snapper Destin. The gumbo had all the right flavors and chunks of seafood and sausage. I could eat that with some bread and be very happy. But the Snapper Destin was a stand out in this vacation meal tour. When I read the menu item, I thought that was WAY too much piled on one plate to be good, but I was WRONG. Every single bite of this entry was amazing. The hubby who is not a fan of any kind of cooked greens ate these collards and said they were great. The fish was perfectly cooked there was a bit of acid...I will have this again. Granted this entrée was $48.95 but worth every penny in flavor and care of presentation. We also had the chocolate cake. Wowwwwza served with a bit of ice cream and luxardo cherries (wish those had been in my Old Fashioned). Moist rich cake with chocolate butter cream icing. We will be back!

The food is fresh and the ambiance is amazing. This place is packed after three in the afternoon, you may end up waiting up to an hour for a table depending on the time of the day. Still, you can get drinks from the bar and wait playing corn-hole, enjoying the sand in the back patio or shopping at their souvenir shop. Knowing this, we decided to go early around noon and got sited right away, we got the shrimp basket, a crawfish po boy, a bowl of clam chowder and a blackened fish sandwich. The portions are generous, and taste is just on point.

Yelp
Went in and sat at the bar. Had good selection of draft beers and a very welcoming vibe. Had a dozen raw oysters which were hog size plus they were fresh and salty. Next I had a nowl Of gumbo that was delicious. The gumbo was full of large amounts of shrimp and the roux was not too thick. Great overall experience.

Yelp
The food was awesome!! I got the shaker salad and it was the best salad that I've ever had. It was so much fun to shake it too. Our service was a 10/10 and our server was wonderful! She was very sweet. The ambiance was stunning with a gorgeous view. Get the shaker salad!!

Yelp
Food and service were fine. But not worth 1.5 hrs wait in a muggy, busy restaurant. When we were finally seated, tried the crab and corn chowder. That was my favorite. Entre was the red snapper and pasta, and it was fine. My daughter ordered the filet and that was very good. Has a nice wood grilled flavor. Took home the buttermilk pie but that was very disappointing. Tasted like a bland bread pudding, and the rum ice cream was overpowered by the alcohol. Would probably return but not with 90 minute wait

Yelp
The parking lot was packed and the wait was 2-3 hours on a Saturday evening; they don't take reservations so be prepared to wait. We were pleasantly surprised with just how delicious our food was, our food was definitely worth the wait! We ended up getting seated soon at the bar. All of the staff were friendly even with how busy it was. Whenever we visit Destin again, we will definitely dine here again.

Yelp
This place was slammed packed every time I tried to go...I'm talking two hour wait and no reservations were accepted. They did let me know it was first-come first-served at the bar so I walked around and got lucky at the outside bar. Service was quick at this bar and there was always a bartender around if I needed anything. I ended up ordering the oysters for an app and they were meaty and fresh. For dinner I ordered the Summer Salad with the blackened grouper added. The fish was tasty but the salad was a bit lacking. I would order fish again but on a different plate next time.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying this place is a MUST go visit while in Destin, but there are some things to be aware of. First, GET THERE EARLY! We waited for 3 hours to be seated, and that was with a call ahead for our bigger group. The average wait time for this restaurant is 3-4 hours on a Friday-Sunday. So maybe get a little snack first. But it is worth the wait! The bar is amazing! A great Miami Vice to get the evening started. The view outside the bar is also amazing. This place has a really cool set up (NOT wheelchair friendly, possibly breaking some ADA guidelines for sure.) lots of stairs and a great channel view with boats and palm trees which is my favorite. As for food, everything fresh is amazing. Was not a fan of the French fries and fried shrimp etc, but everything else is 5 stars. They're known for their "original" red snapper dish and it was AMAZING! Pricey, but amazing. Oysters-amazing. The swordfish was the best thing on that menu I tried. I could eat it every day. The pasta, the sides, everything. 10/10. I do highly recommend this place, but there are a lot of great options around if you're not wanting to wait.

Yelp
You have many options in Destin and the neighboring beachfront for all things fresh seafood. But do yourself a favor and make Boshamps your first stop. They don't take reservations, BUT after you check in, you can sit at the bar top and enjoy a beverage and/or appetizers while waiting Obviously, dinnertime is busy, but before 4 or after 7, there is little to no wait. A gorgeous ambiance and beautiful views of the harbor, there are both outdoor patio and indoor seating options available. The staff are all top-notch! Ultra fresh seafood - including local catch of the day - and amazing oysters. High recommendation for the Boshamps Oysters. Memorable. We walked down the harbor walk almost the entire way. A lovely way to spend an afternoon with my daughter!

Yelp
This meal is one that makes memories of perfection in terms taste and textures. Many can't do this. We started with Oysters Boshamps and Puttin on the Grits. Both were amazing. Then we went on to what was said to be the favorite The Original Snapper Destin and Pan Roaster Gulf Gtouper. The flavors of the local favorite did not match our palate. But the grouper was amazing in every way. Everything was cooked nicely and not overdone. Being my birthday, next in to the desserts. Selection was minimal and this is where the restaurant could use some help or even source outside. We got the cheesecake. It was meh and burned..Cheesecake is so easy to make. There are a zillion desserts that are tasty and easy to make! So what's up with that. Drinks. Didn't order any. I'd perused the menu online earlier. Some were tempting. But once st the restaurant I notice some ingredients were different. When I order a cocktail, I'm more into the experience. There was nothing that drew me in. Saved those calories for dessert. Yes, we will be back for apps and main but that's it! Service was about average.

Yelp
Delicious! Great atmosphere, wait time was quoted at 2-3 hours.. probably waited 1.5h but it went by so quick with 3 bars to order drinks and apps from, the dock to walk around, and a big sand area with corn hole, hammocks, and chairs! Definitely worth the wait!!

Yelp
We come here every year while on vacation. Best restaurant in our opinion in Destin. Food is immaculate. Scenery is fantastic but everyone and their grandma is also trying to get in on the good time.

Yelp
Jami our waitress was great, super helpful and attentive. Food was less than expected and expensive. There were 3 of us and here is what we ordered 1. Burger least expensive entree on the menu, it was good sized but lacking in flavor and overall dry. 2. Fried Grouper sandwich, presentation was great, lacked flavor and was more breading than fish. 3. Devils crab appetizer and gumbo. The crab was amazing with a bit of a spicy kick, the fried saltines were delicious. The gumbo was one of the worst I've ever had, has an odd seasoning that I really wasn't a fan of. Our waitress noticed I didn't eat but a bite and graciously took it off our bill. We got there at 4:15 and it was already a 45-60min wait. If you have kids it's great as they have yard games in the back right by the harbor. Overall I'd try it again and try more of their upscale entrees as they looked fabulous.

Yelp
NO RESERVATIONS! Except long wait times and in the small bar are please add more seating especially if waiting 90+ minutes for a table. You need to get there before 4:30pm or after 08pm to avoid these problems. We actually ended up dining at the bar (my favorite place)! They started off with the crab appetizer, it looked and smelled delicious. For our entrees we got the Wedge with added blackened shrimp, summer salad (I think) and the pan roasted snapper over a bed of pasta. The pasta was the star of the dish they should have this on the menu!! Everything was great and most importantly fresh and prepared the way fish and vegetables should be! These were not canned or frozen!
