First time here - stopped in for lunch during the Autumn Arts Festival. This place is amazing! Even though it was almost at capacity inside and out, the service and the food was still fantastic. Our server was extremely attentive and took the time to explain different dishes to us and make recommendations.
The food is delicious. Everything we had was great. We got the Lavas bread with the Mixed Appetizer (dips basically). I highly recommend this combination - lets you get a feel for all the possibilities. Our favorites were the: Muhammara (puree of red peppers, walnuts, garlic, olive oil and pomegranate - I wish they sold this in a to go container!), Haydari (creamy yogurt dip) and the Ezme. They all were good though. The babaganoush was our least favorite (just not as flavorful as the others).
I had the Chicken Sis Kebap - I loved this dish. The chicken is perfectly charred and juicy. I loved the sides (shredded carrots, purple onions and a type of pickled red cabbage). It went perfect with the chicken and rice. Make sure you get the Cacik (cold cucumber dip) for your chicken if you didn't get the dip appetizer. It is perfect to dip the chicken in.
The other 3 had the Chicken Sauté in cream sauce, which came with rice. This dish had a generous amount of chicken, onions, red and green peppers and mushrooms. They had leftovers to take home.
The portions are very generous and the service was excellent. Try the raspberry iced tea, you won't be disappointed. They have a nice selection of desserts but we were all too full to sample them this visit.
The only slight drawback had to do with the rest rooms. They have 2 unisex restrooms at the back of the restaurant and they are on either side of the short hall that leads right to the open kitchen. Just not great logistically. It creates a traffic jam of customers waiting for the restroom and staff running back and forth with food, but not something I'd take a star off for, as it didn't affect our dining experience.
I'd definitely go here again.
