Best Montreal Restaurants for Takeout on Moving Day - Eater Montreal

"Fill up your hungry gang with some hulking Italian sandwiches from Bossa — the only snag could be getting everyone to decide which one they want. Cold deli sandwiches include mortadella, prosciutto, and a hoagie, while hot ones include porchetta, eggplant parm, and chicken cutlet. There are two locations: one in Verdun and the other on Masson. Delivery is with SkipTheDishes and DoorDash." - Joel Balsam

The Best Restaurants and Bars in Verdun - Eater Montreal

"If you could stop at just one spot to stock up on provisions before a picnic, this should almost certainly be it. The hard part will be deciding which striking sandwich to order: chicken parm slathered in tomato sauce and basil oil, rapini and sausage, or the new hoagie option, packed with salami, capocollo, mortadella, prosciutto, cheese, pickled eggplants, and hot peppers. Whatever you decide, you’ll be fine — just don’t forget the ricotta cannoli for a proper finale." - Kaitlyn McInnis, Eater Staff

Google
An institution in Montreal, if you’re looking for great tasting sandwiches, Italian food, prepared goods and delicious desserts, this is the place. Generous portions and fresh ingredients, I really enjoy this small chain of restaurants. Staff are so friendly and service is quick. I highly recommend!

Google
This place is mini-Italy in the middle of Verdun! I keep going there to try every single sandwich they have. It's fresh, delicious and enormous! This time I got a cannolo and it's the best dessert I've ever had!!! Lightly sweet, creamy and crunchy. It's a take-out restaurant and expect a long wait on busier days like weekends but it's worth the wait. One thing I love about Montreal is how authentic restaurants are. This one lives up to this premise.

Google
Couple of places to sit down, maybe 10 max, but all were taken. Standing room only while u wait but was not a problem. We ordered 4 sandwiches and some deserts to try, all 4 of us thought everything was exceptionally good. Place has a great vibe. Drove all the way from the west Island to Verdun and will sure do it again. Readymade food looked great. Will make it a point to pick some up on our next visit. Keep up the good work.

Google
BOSSA Sandwiches is hands-down the best of the best. I get their sandwiches catered for my birthday every year, and it’s always a hit—everyone raves about them! The quality, flavor, and uniqueness truly make them one of a kind. I recommend BOSSA to everyone I know—it never disappoints. 👌🏼

Google
A while back, I visited Verdun with a friend, and we were searching for a quick bite. We ended up trying their *Roasted Chicken* sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious! The sandwich was a good size—filling enough that we shared one and still felt satisfied. Even though it’s been some time since my visit, I still remember how tasty it was. I’d definitely go back if I’m in the area again!

Google
SO good. $20 for a sandwich seemed pricey, but these are delicious and massive sandwiches that can easily make two meals. Got the porchetta, which was amazing. Recommend ordering ahead of time because they’re quite busy so there is a bit of a wait for the sandos (but well worth the wait)!!

Google
friendly staff, great sandwiches, can get crowded during lunch hours. They have all the supplies to make fresh carbonara that we are gonna try next time.

Yelp
I prefer this bossa location the most. There really is nothing quite like getting a bossa sandwich on wellington and eating outside. My favourite sandwich is the Milanese, it's so fresh and tasty. The bombalones are also really good, the nutella and pistachio are so creamy inside. There's tons of nice products for sale like fresh pasta and sauce as well. No seating inside, plan accordingly.

Yelp
Amazing loaded sandwiches! Friendly service! Mildly busy in mid-weekday afternoon. We loved it. We had two sandwiches. A cold Italiano and a hot porcetta (pressed). And we shared them half and half. Porcetta was full of moist delicious pork, with just enough fat to bring that deep flavour. Italiano was over flowing with cold cuts and the marinated veg and hot peppers and fresh mozzarella balanced it out perfectly. Also Verdun is a great part of the city to visit. So it's worth the trip (if you don't live there already)

Yelp
My husband and my stepson had gone to BOSSA recently and they told me about it. I had to try it since it is rated as one of the top sandwich places in Montreal. The store really is a market that sells pasta, prepared foods, sauces, etc. I got their famous chicken parm sandwich, which came with roasted peppers and it was delicious....It was a huge sandwich and it was very well made. The bread was nicely toasted on the outside and the chicken was crispy on the edges and tender and moist in the center. Highly recommended. Not a lot of seating inside (about 12 seats) nor outside about 4 tables, but many people do take out.

Yelp
Best Porchetta Sandwich I ever had in my life!! Wowowowoww this place was so dope! Wish I lived closer Staff was friendly quick and easy service! Ambiance very crowded and busy place The food like wow to die for and it was pricy for the sandwich but it was filled I got the Porchetta & the eggplant parm sandwich The porchetta comes with Provolone, Aioli, Coleslaw, Caramelized Onions, Hot Peppers, & Marinated Eggplants wow did it taste out of this world ! I am totally coming back for just that sandwich! The eggplant parm was ok but not sure if it makes sense in a sandwich unless you're vegetarian it does ahaha. Overall, definitely one of the best meals I had even a sandwich made right is totally worth a dinner meal!! 100% recommend!!

Yelp

Yelp
Hands down to the best sandwich shop in Montreal . I feel like this place is always busy , line ups everytime I walk by so I had to tried it . I went around 2pm during the week and waited around 30-40min in total . You don't feel that is that long as they have italian products that they sell around the shop so you can shop while you wait for your turn to order . Staff are very kind and friendly. Makes the time goes fast by if you're in a rush unsure if it's the right place . We tried one warm and one cold sandwich and they were both delicious. Very fresh and perfectly mixed . Each sandwich is around 15$ that I find very reasonable price . Honestly the best sandwiches I have tried in Montreal . Can't wait to go back . Also definitely try the lemon granita while you wait is delicious.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches! We come here anytime we are in Montreal. Lines can be long but move fast.

Yelp
Always so good! Bossa cutlet sandwich is amazing! Their spicy bomba sauce is sooo good I bought the jar to have at home! Top notch and highly recommend!

Yelp
Small quaint shop on an VERY unassuming street! I had the hot chicken parm and it was DIVINE! If you order this, ask for extra red sauce, they were being stingy but man it was sooooo good. Usually a small wait, but worth every bit!

Yelp
Everything they sell is incredible. Tuna sandwiches and chicken parmesan sandwiches are my favourites, the meatballs are so good I can never go without getting one, and the pasta is also incredible. The ambiance is amazing in-store, the workers are all lovely, and the quality is just as good if you order it for delivery. 10/10

Yelp
Porchetta sub . This close to heaven. Olive oil cake is also fantastic but OMG the porchetta sub. Yellow beet salad was very good.

Yelp
I thought I found my favourite sandwich shop last week until I discovered this family owned gem! Location: WELLINGTON right beside the RBC you really can't miss it Food : sandwiches , pastas, homemade sauces, fresh pastas, charcuteries, fine vinegars, olive oils, Ready to heat and eat meals will mostly baked pastas, meats, poultry, vegetables and charcuterie. Tradizione Italianna. Service / quality: 5 stars I called and was greeted by a wonderful woman who was the owner she took my order and it was ready in a few minutes. She was smiling as soon as I walked in and thanked me for supporting them during this outbreak. Ambiance: store is filled with pasta and sauces everywhere it's bright and spacious but it feels very homey. Now let's get to what you're really hear for... "how good was the sandwich!?" Charcuterie sandwich: which consists of a few different types of meat (mortadella, salami, capacol) cut very thin, provolone and a home made aioli mayo. DELICIOUS! The bread was so soft and the meats were so fresh and I personally loved the sauce for my sandwich. I can't wait to try it again The chicken cutlet sandwich: best cutlet sandwich I have had and I've had the best ones in the city ( Parma, Clarke's etc) the breading than they used was seasoned well and than they put some coleslaw/ cabbage but it was in a really good sauce. The eggplant they added in to it really brought the sandwich together. A must try For people who are worried about going to pick up they do have hand sanitizer when you walk in and if you're still scared to go and pick it up they do offer Uber eats.

Yelp
Wish we had tried the original store, we've heard good things. Opted for the Time Out Market location because it was closer to our hotel. Very bad decision; every thing that could go bad did. 40 minute wait time for fast casual and two out of three items weren't what we ordered. Staff seemed overwhelmed and they were not that busy. The chicken parmigiana with rapini was awesome. We also ordered a Philly cheese and a mixed green salad. After waiting 40 minutes our electronic buzzer rang, we went up to the counter as they were bagging two wrapped sandwiches and a boxed salad. One sandwich had parm written on the outside the other Philly. Walked out thinking' it took too long only to find a cold hoagie and a box of iceberg lettuce no croutons no cheese. Not a mixed greens.

Yelp
Perfectly decent Italian pasta bar and sandwich shop. Get all your Italian cooking food needs met here -or most of it anyway. This is a small neighbourhood shop after all, not a supermarket so you can find either ready made pasta -to-go ( this usually changes everyday), varieties of dried pasta from Italy, ready-made homemade pasta sauces sold in Mason jars, the basic Italian cheeses, olive oils, marinated artichoke hearts, olives, various cookies and foodstuffs from Italy. I love making my carbonara at home with bucatini but that's not a pasta you can get as commonly as say linguine. I can get it here, no problem. Then there is their sandwich bar. Here, all bets are off. They make super-packed dense Italian sandwiches like Porchetta, prosciutto , marinated vegetables, capocollo sandwiches on fresh ciabatta bread. You eat one of these sandwiches and you don't need to eat for the rest of the day. They do very brisk business during lunch hour. Their desserts are really good too. Their ricotta-filled cannolis and Nutella cookies are insane.

Yelp
Finally made it to Bosa, was I the last to find out! Great sandwich spot but call your order in and pick up. The chicken sandwich, chicken parmigiana and meatball sandwich were terrific! Cool shop loaded with interesting gourmet Italian foods and Panatone.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwich within a European style grocery store. We had the Philly hoagie (prosciutto, salami, ham, pickles, and cheese) and porchetta. Both delicious. It was our first time there and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Love this place!!! I got here because of a recommendation from a friend and she was soooooo right!! The sandwiches are on point! Excellent seasoning! Great flavours! Excellent service!! I can't wait to come back
google avatar

Yelp
Best place to buy amaretti (soft cookies). The doughnuts are also good (lemon is my favourite), when they have them. The porchetta sandwich was a HUGE portion (for 2), but a bit greasy and not as flavourful as I wanted. I'll come back and try other things before really deciding. Still love this place for the cookies.

Yelp
Giardiniera is too spicy. It's hard to appreciate the great bread and meats. The dessert is a pass for me.

Yelp
I see there is dissension here. How can people have such differences. Don't know. I enjoyed their food. I was entertaining a soirée and it was a potluck. My friend arrived with 40 meatballs the size of squash ball in a tomato sauce. The meatballs were tasty, very cheesy with parmegian. The tomato sauce was great. They also had a platter of charcuterie. Prosciutto and hot salami were moist and flavourful. The cheese platter had three types of cheese with grapes. All fresh and of good quality. We all feasted on this despite there being other choices. No mangia cakes here. I've had much worst, I've rarely had better. So I guess it depends what you order. Vive la différence!!

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches! I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich last time I was at Bossa, superb! Friendly service, quick, nice selection of pastas and sandwiches to go; Italian ingredients available for purchase as well (sauces, 00 flour, desserts and soft drinks). It can get busy at Bissa, but the good food is worth the wait.

Yelp
Delicious and giant sandwiches!!! This place is very busy on weekends so I recommend calling ahead to place your order. Sandwiches are made fresh on the spot with quality ingredients and they have a small grocery area of nice Italian products. There are so many great restaurants in Wellington in Verdun but this Bossa is a must try for sure!

LavaDude A.

Yelp
Best sandwich ever. Got the meatball sub and there are so many elements that come together. Nutella cannoli is delicious as well.

Yelp
Tried this restaurant for the first time last week, AMAZING! Reminds me of Cafe Milano because of it's trendy foods and family ambiance. Really nice place to pick up ready to eat fresh foods for a fair price!
google avatar

Veronica B.

Yelp
Well unfortunately i couldnt give zero stars, because the sausage samdwich i ordered today gave me food poisoning. The taste of it was off but they drenched it in mayonaise to mask the badness of the meat. Few hours later i felt severe stomach pains, and felt feverish with chills. I spent an hour puking to get it out of my system to eventually feel better hours later. Just saying if you ever eat here please proceed with caution.

Yelp
I ordered the tortellini rose and an americano--it was 3pm in the afternoon and the chef was already resting at the back--But they were super nice and accommodating, and the food was served almost immediately (I waited 5 minutes, tops). It was awesome. The tortellini was cooked to perfection and you can tell it was made fresh, and the americano had depth of flavor without tasting bitter. Glad I stopped by--Perfect little Italian store!

Sylvie Q.

Yelp
Their platter of pesto pasta and foccacia are HUGE. We love that! Most restaurants don't give that much food. It is good for a few meals!

Savanna F.

Yelp
The homemade tomato sauce!! Full of little italien treats, from espresso, to cannoli, the place is full of food to go and party platter ( cold cuts and cheese, not too expensive) They do have to go menu and some quick stuff for lunch and dinner! Enjoy the discovery.
