I visited Bossa Nova for the first time to celebrate my brother’s high school graduation over lunch. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. From the start, I noticed that other tables were being served complimentary bread, yet our table received none. We requested water multiple times, but our server, Isadora, failed to bring it. When our meals arrived, both my plate and my mother’s had cold roasted vegetables—which should never happen at a sit-down restaurant. To make matters worse, I was unable to get Isadora’s attention and had to flag down another server. Thankfully, that person responded promptly and brought the bread, water, and fresh vegetables. Their service was far better, but it was frustrating that this had to happen at all. As for the food, it was decent overall, but I would not recommend the sweet potato fries. They tasted like they had been reheated from the freezer—not fresh at all, and definitely not worth the price. The service from our original waiter, Isadora, felt inattentive and dismissive. When compared to how other tables were treated, it unfortunately gave off a sense of subtle discrimination, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. This was meant to be a special lunch, but the poor service and food quality left a disappointing impression. I wouldn’t return to this location, and I wouldn’t recommend it based on this experience.

Passing through Downtown LA, I made a quick stop at this gem, and I’m so glad I did. The food is absolutely delicious, bringing a unique and authentic taste of Brazil. Every dish is worth trying, but whatever you choose, don’t miss the truffle fries. They’re a must.

So we came to this place on the recommendation from somebody at the hotel we are staying at. I got to say for me it was a five-star meal for sure. I got the spinach berry salad. My boyfriend got fettuccine Alfredo and added chicken and broccoli. Both meals were absolutely delicious and definitely receive five stars. Service was acceptable, atmosphere was decent. Food was amazing! I believe the manager may have helped us out with a free things. He was very friendly and helpful. This will be go to spot next time I come to dtla.

Was definitely not worth the trip into downtown Los Angeles. The SERVICE was horrendous. Customer service was not lacking. It was non-existent. One plate was cold, and the others temperature was fine. No condiments were available to spice up our dish. The menu items are a little pricey. Portions are marginal. They do have a public restroom. A full service bar with seating is available. Pet friendly environment. Parking options are the street or public parking lots. Depending on the time of day or night it can be rather tough to find a spot in close proximity. Oh well time to move on.

I live a couple blocks away but had never been inside thinking that it was a Brazilian Steakhouse, and I being off red meat for the moment. But WOW! Perfect grilled shrimp, a perfect empanada, a perfect server, perfect neighbors at tables. Thanks was gettin very lonesome in LA: heading there now for Chicken Madeira!

My son and I had dinner at this place, and it was delicious. The atmosphere was very comfortable, and we enjoyed one of the most delightful entrees. Not to mention, we had much-needed quality time in an amazing, cozy, and accommodating environment. The outside features a really cool fire display, which looks both elegant and captivating. I recommend this play some 💯

Google
Spent the day downtown LA and were in search of lunch options. We got this recommended by a lady who always eats here whenever she visits from New York. Let me tell you, this restaurant did not disappoint. The atmosphere is played out by seatings for booths, tables of 4's, and 2's. The decor has been professionally thought about as it's the type of place you would take the misses on a date, should you want to woo her. For lunchtime, it seems to attract a cooperate clientele that comes in their numbers. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The cuisine is in their name itself, Brazilian style. We started off with calamari and bruschetta. With a main, comes with 3 sides. I went for the salmon with mash potatoes, black beans, and Fries plantains (also pitched in sweet potato chips, it will be rude not to) 😋. Whatever their recipe is for those fried plantains, I want it!. Safe to say, this restaurant has my heart.

Google
The hospitality is amazing the servers are great. Friendly and energetic. The manager Rebecca was the most sincere manager I’ve ever met 💙. She made me feel very comfortable sitting at the bar alone after a very long hectic week I’ve been in the establishment a couple times this week and every time they were very attentive. I ordered from the grill and got the lemon chicken with roasted vegetables and black beans it was fresh flavorful and very filling. I ordered it again when I came back because it was great and fast bite during lunch hour. Today I got a sangria that was made in house white sparkling with fresh fruit the drink was superb and I was able to taste both red and white sangria to see which one I’d like best as you can see the white sangria won. I recommend this location over others due to the customer service I received I will be back.

Yelp
What can I say besides amazing things about the food at Bossa Nova? My friends and I came here for a meal and decided to try a variety of dishes--we ordered the bowls with salmon, chicken, and steak, along with the steak plate and those delicious plantains. Every dish was packed with flavor, cooked to perfection, and had just the right balance of seasoning. The steak was tender and juicy, the salmon was fresh and perfectly grilled, and the chicken was incredibly flavorful. While the food was outstanding, the service was just okay. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it felt a bit slow at times. That being said, the overall atmosphere made up for it. We loved the ambiance, especially during the daytime, when the natural light pours in and creates a warm and inviting setting. It's the perfect spot for a relaxed meal with friends or even a casual date. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes because the flavors were that good!

Yelp
Second time here. They are killing it at this location: 1. Food is above avg vs other locations. The pau de quejo is made fresh and delish! The chicken empanadas is flaky but needs a sauce with it as it's a bit dry The Coaxhina is fantastic as always The pub steak lunch meal with farofa rice beans and plantains is delish. Got the yucca coconut pound cake cupcake to go. The most dense least sugar delish dessert I've ever had!! Freaking unique and delish! 2. The service was amazing. Francisco is an artist, has patience, is entertaining, smart and wise, and moonlights as the ops manager! Wow! Food came timely and service was impeccable. 3. The vibes are amazing here! Modern classy and great for large or small groups. You wont want to leave! 4. Parking. Just don't. Uber public transport or walk! 5. Open late. Be wise walking at night, it is DTLA.

Yelp
I've heard really awesome reviews about Bossa Nova but I wasn't personally impressed. I ordered the short rib bowl and it was incredibly tough. So tough it made my teeth hurt in the moment and days after leaving the restaurant. The service was great and they were accommodating by switching out my meal for another entree which wasn't much greater to me than the first dish. The ambiance was vibey and I would return to try the pizza or pasta.

Yelp
Came here to grab a super late dinner after grabbing drinks at Lost DTLA. Really enjoyed the Cajun chicken with shrimp and pasta. The shrimp and pasta were extra but well worth it. Big enough for 2 people. The pastels were flaky and tasted great. Out waited also delivered excellent service. Would definitely come back again!
google avatar

Jamita H.

Yelp
The service was great until it was time for the check. I am not sure what took the young lady so long to bring it...but this wasn't a star knock. This establishment was extremely nice. The crowd was people who were dining late and some who had just left the Lakers game. It is close by the Staples Center. The food was great. I didn't get anything extravagant. I ordered a Caesar salad. It was really good but no photos. The vibe of this place was really chill with the people there. Definitely worth a visit

Yelp
Delicious food and fresh ingredients! I was staying at a hotel nearby for work and one of my friends also lives in the area so he suggested we go to Bossa Nova for lunch as it's one of his favorite spots. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and both got the lunch bowls for our entrees. I went with the shrimp bowl which had brown rice, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, broccoli, corn, kale and black beans. My friend got the chicken bowl with pretty much all the same ingredients. All of the food was amazing! The restaurant is really large and nicely decorated. It's a great place for groups and the bar was vast. The service was decent. Our server was friendly but not the most attentive. He would have to flag him down if we needed him.

Yelp
Always delicious. Pão de queijo is great, coxinha is great. The chicken is always amazing, and their carbonara is one of the best in LA.
google avatar

Lupe R.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Our server Paulina was very welcoming and made our first experience at nova a memorable one. The vibe was perfect for our Sunday outing. Paulina was very gracious attending us and our palette needs. Will definitely be coming here again.

Yelp
Came here after work on a Tuesday. We were seated right away, and quickly ordered a couple things from the HH menu before it ended. I ordered the traditional caipirinha, and the picadinho bowl. Oh emmm geee! So delicious!!! I cannot wait to go back!!!

Andrea G.

Yelp
My short rib sandwich was not tender nor juicy. Several pieces burned. It was served cold after a 25- minute wait for a salad and a sandwich. Wait staff never checked on is or apologized for the wait. Never again.

Yelp
We we staying dowbtown L.A and found this great resturant a few blocks from our Hotel. It's modern very clean and had wonderful food and service. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. One appetizer was a bread that had cheese stuffed in it and the other was a croquette. They were both okay but the stars of the meals was our entrees. I had the shortrib salad, it had tender beef, roasted pears, gorganzola, pine nuts and a nice citrus vinegrette, delicious. Husband had a tradionational feijoava bowl. Smoky sausage, beef, beans, greens over rice. Our server was attentive and helped with suggestions. The place was lively, and had a wine wall, and bright and cheerful. The prices were reasonable, they had casual entrees, and fancier ones. Evidentially its a chain wish we had one in San Diego

Yelp
Paulina was so friendly and such a joy. She made great recommendations and the food was excellent! Thank you we shall be back!

Yelp
As someone who's lived in Brazil this was decent food but not what I'm used to. I would say it's more of a fusion place and not traditional. The food I did have was unique but a lot of things were fried that aren't traditionally fried. Drinks were really good though. Large selection. Was able to get some good things on a happy hour price too. It was a beautiful place. A tad cold and it took awhile for the service to come back and check on us but they were nice.
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
One of the few quality restaurants open late. Cocktails and food are good here and they have a great environment late night. Every time we come here, we leave satisfied with tasty drinks and food.
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
Needed a quick snack. Had the Feijoada bowl. It was a mixture of black beans, pork, bacon and beef with a fried banana, collard greens, a sliced orange and a salsa vinaigrette. It was very tasty and the perfect lunch after my run.

Yelp
This was the biggest surprise of the weekend in la. As Portland resistance we are so blessed with getting food almost 24 - well at least as long as a bar has open. Not so in California - while better than San Francisco , Los Angeles also gave us a hard time to find food (not fast food) at 11pm. But we got a recommendation from a closed restaurant and they send us over. First of all they have open until 2am then they have a huge menu. And that for reasonable prices! Well and also not to be forgotten the food tastes good the service is nice friendly and knowledgeable of their food. All in all we found out late night slot for food in Los Angeles.
google avatar

Sarah O.

Yelp
Went after a night out, the ambience is warm and calm. The food was really good. I got the white truffle pasta and devoured. Service was good and attentive.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
My mouth is still watering from this delicious meal. The picanha steak was PERFECTLY medium rare and seasoned and all the sides that came with it were out of this world. We also got the seasonal cajun alfredo pasta. So creamy and flavorful with a slight kick. Absolutely out of this world. Lastly, OF COURSE we got the cheese bread. Amazing. We were one of five people at the restaurant so service was pretty fast, but my sister did say the last 2 times she went it took over 30 minutes to get her food so take this into consideration. It's also a pretty spacious restaurant. Plenty of room!
google avatar

Brad A.

Yelp
Awful! Service was awful! This place won't make substitutions even though cost would be the same. Go somewhere else. Overpriced and terrible. Literally service bad!
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
I love this place. Def a top 5 for me. A variety of things to choose and eat. My fav is def the Manuela's Pasta- it is so yummy and full of flavor! Avocado toast is a must get!! Sometimes they provide the dried tomato...sometimes they don't (which is a bummer). Plantains (not pictured) are always cooked to perfection. Best I have ever had! Parking: street parking sucks for both Downtown and Hollywood location.(One in West Hollywood has a parking lot in the back). Ambiance: I really like the decor here, looks upscale and they have a whole bar which is no nice!
google avatar

Jamila M.

Yelp
i've never had a bad meal from bossa nova. My favorites are the chicken parmigiana, chicken on fire and the creamy Alfredo. Plus they're open late night. I normally get my food to go so I can't really speak on the ambience and the cashiers are always nice when I pick up.
google avatar

Yelp
I see why the ratings are so low on certain sites. I actually wanted this to be my neighborhood fav/go to but they fail me every time. It's walking distance from my house, I like the ambiance inside and how you can dine in multiple areas. However, every time I order Togo the wait is extremely long? But then when I get my food it's cold? It's usually sloppy, messy, etc. Like how is that possible? Then it's like they are so careless with my wrap. It's drenched in dressing that's like water. The wrap itself is coming apart. The garlic truffle fries are an extra charge, but they're usually wet and cold. This place is far too expensive to do this to people!

Yelp
I've avoided Bossa Nova Brazilian Cuisine because of the Yelp reviews, but I'm so happy that I got to try it last night. My gfs and I had the best time! Our server, Joao is so friendly and attentive. Restaurant is also modern and clean. + Pao de queijo 5/5: I've always like Brazilian cheese bread, but I must say Bossa Nova's is probably one of the most chewy and cheesiest one I've had. + Sangria pitcher 5/5: Surprisingly fruity, sweet, and smooth red wine sangria! We were all pleasantly surprised at how tasty the sangria was. + Lemon garlic chicken 4.5/5: Heavily seasoned chicken that was a bit salty, but still good. + Skirt steak 5/5: Juicy and tender. + Sides (plantains, roasted veggies, mashed potatoes, rice) 5/5: All the sides were amazing. My friend even commented that the rice is seasoned and not just plain white rice without flavor lol. + Tropical salad 5/5: Super refreshing salad with fruits and this strawberry basil vinaigrette. Def helped cut the heaviness from rest of the food. + Flan 5/5: SO GOOD but very sweet too. Overall, I was blown away by how good both the food and customer service was last night. Can't wait to come back and try some of the specialty cocktails next time.

Yelp
For a place that touts neighborhood friendly and opens for late night dining, they sure were disappointing. We were a party of 5 arriving at 11 pm. There were empty tables inside and no one was standing at the bar; yet, they said they were "overwhelmed" & the bar is too busy to serve us. "we are super busy " and cannot take any customers for another 30 mins. Meanwhile, Prank Bar down the street was packed with customers and welcome us to come in. Well. Bosso Nova DTLA, You just lost 5 long time DTLAer and their friends
google avatar

Yelp
Food is amazing . The staff is really nice they are open late so this is my favorite place
google avatar

Lucho V.

Yelp
After having din elsewhere we decided to grab a drink here. We were craving a Caipirinha. Boy did they deliver. Perfectly made. We had a second and a third. Great service and causal ambiance. We will be returning to try their food. Overall a solid experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Takes 45 minutes to make a burger apparently Instead of having 4 people give out orders (standing around) in pickup station maybe hire more help in the kitchen
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with my Dad and brother while visiting my brother in LA. He recommended the place and I was a little wary because of the lowish rating, but was pleasantly surprised. We came here fairly late, at least for us around 9-10pm. We were seated immediately in a half booth. I liked the chic modern atmosphere. All of the staff were super nice and accommodating. We ordered pretty quickly after going over the menu. To start we got the calamari to share and for my entree I for the al pesto with penne pasta and chicken. The calamari was really good with a thick and crispy corn meal breading. The spicy sauce super addicting. My pesto penne pasta was delicious, with a generous amount of pesto and chicken. The chicken was in big pieces and was super tender. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the pesto was nutty and delicious. We had a great dinner here, my family also enjoyed their meals. I would definitely come again the next time we visit.

Yelp
i went with a friend on wednesday at 12:00 PM! the only downside is the parking (which has been mentioned a lot) even on a weekday early afternoon,, finding meter parking took a while :// but it was definitely worth it! Amazing service and fast delivery for the food (and you can see into the kitchen!) we walked to bossa nova and at 12 there was only 2 parties inside! we got seated immediately and was helped by our server! food we ordered: starter/ appetizer- CAMARÃO A BRASILEIRA our server recommended this starter and it was soooo yummy. the garlic shrimp was seasoned amazing, bread was crunchy, and the salsa cut the saltiness and made the overall dish lighter! shout out to our server for his rec! side- BOSSA SALAD super refreshing salad! i really liked adding this salad to our meal to make our lunch feel more balanced main- MANUELLA'S PASTA we chose the penne pasta and it was absolutely yummy! the cajun sauce was so creamy and just the right amount of spice. we dipped some of our starter's bread into the pasta sauce and it was delicious! i absolutely loved eating at bossa nova the food was delish and im so happy my friend recommended it! they also included a suggested tip calculated at the bottom of the receipt,, but the suggested tip is calculated BEFORE tax! so you aren't tipping ontop of tax which was a nice detail i liked :D this would be an awesome date spot but i cannot imagine finding parking at night LOL

P R.

Yelp
First the staff was kind and very attentive. I appreciated them; however, I ordered to go and there was a needed change to my order that the staff did not consider to notify me until I inquired about my food. For the inconvenience I was given a free strawberry lemonade (can lemons be rancid?). The oxtail risotto was very nice, until I took a 3rd bite into my beet salad to end up with a mouthful of hair. I mean a very, long thick strand of hair. It felt like a bundle of hair. Since I've rarely eaten so much hair at once it felt like a bundle. There is no telephone number on my receipt. I'm too tired to resolve tonight. I won't finish this risotto either.

Yelp
Too bad I didn't get to snapshot my food and hot tea but had a great takeout/pickup experience with them. This is one of their newest locations based on the convo I had with the hostess. It was clean and they were very inviting. I got the truffle penne pasta with mushrooms and a side of roasted vegetables with a hot mint tea. The inside isn't big as the other locations I've been to but it's much nicer, organized, and more upscale ambiance compared to the other locations. Parking is typical DTLA chaos but it was a quick walk for us. Definitely would dine inside and/or do takeout The food was fresh, hot, and tasty

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! From the ambiance in the restaurant, to the amazing energy that the staff had, to the great service, and the amazinggggg food (presentation and taste wise!) I enjoyed this place thoroughly! 10/10, would recommend!!! And can't forget my Guaraná Antarctica, theeeee best soda known to man and my favorite!

Yelp
Last week, I had the pleasure of dining at Bossa Nova Brazilian Restaurant, and once again, it was a perfect 10! The only tiny hiccup was having to ask for the complimentary bread, which is truly the star of the show for me. Nevertheless, the experience with my family and friends was fantastic. I indulged in the blackened Cajun chicken with shrimp, an absolute delight, and couldn't resist adding a side of fettuccine Alfredo. Our server was outstanding, and the ambiance was lively and clean. As always, the prices were reasonable, and their sangria is out of this world! While I've sampled various items on the menu, I find myself drawn back to the cajun blackened chicken with shrimp, sometimes paired with mashed potatoes or rice. Plus, their valet service adds a touch of convenience to the whole experience. Bossa Nova continues to impress with its impeccable service and mouthwatering dishes. Can't wait to dine here again. Meter parking is available but could be a hassle

Yelp
Love the ambience, it incorporates the 3 Cs of a great restaurant: chic, classic and chill. Staff is friendly and helpful. We went there for a quick work lunch. I ordered the chicken bowl. It had quinoa, delicious and tender pieces of chicken, potatoes, and chimichurri sauce. Highly recommended. I will go back and will try their Churrasco.
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
The ambiance here is always on point. Service was good as well. But the food was extremely disappointing. I have had Bossa Nova endless times and different locations. This was my first time in over a year having it since I got sick the last time I had it and what a tasteless, watery mess. I ordered by go to for years, Sunset pasta and there was no flavor at all. The manager even said "I know why" when I told him. He offered to make it fresh and I declined. I then ordered the white truffle pasta and even that was flavorless. I had to ask for salt and pepper which didn't help at all. Extremely and genuinely disappointed. This will probably be my last time at Bossa Nova.

Lissette S.

Yelp
The food was great! Paulina and the hostess were friendly and nice. I highly recommend you come to this one, if you haven't already!
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the service is friendly and hospitable. Our favorite dishes include: 1. Avocado toast 2. Vegetarian Super Bowl 3. Rosada penne Juan M the young one took such wonderful care of us the last two times we dined. He's there in the evenings so we only visit in the evenings. Also very clean restrooms! Street parking, so good luck but it's worth the hunt.
google avatar

Troy E.

Yelp
Bossa Nova Brazilian Cuisine, nestled in the bustling streets of DTLA is a really great spot for a night out. I took my friend here for his birthday. I really enjoyed the lamb skewers and the sangria. The lamb skewers were cooked to perfection, offering a flavorful experience. This was actually my first time trying sangria and I thought it was pretty good! The atmosphere at Bossa Nova Brazilian Cuisine is vibrant and welcoming, striking a balance between casual and elegant dining. I appreciated that the noise level wasn't too loud and we could talk without having to yell. While parking can be challenging due to its location, I think it's well worth the effort.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
BECKY BECKY BECKY! Her attention to detail is incredible. I come on Sunday after church. She makes recommendations that fit our flavor pallet. If she is not here working we are worried. She is friendly and fast. The food here is as phenomenal as I had in Bahia. Can wait to come again
google avatar

Emerson P.

Yelp
Food started out decent, service should be improved, biggest down fall. Was only visited twice, ones to get my order and ones to get my check. Tried to get the server's/ anyone's attention many times so I can get a second latte and some water. Every failed attempt made my food less enjoyable. Place looks nice though. I didn't drink though I'm sure with alcohol in your system you'll have a blast for youll lose perception of time, people ignoring you, and food will taste better.
google avatar

Yelp
Convenient location as it's across the street from the apartment I was crashing at for the weekend. Service was great. My friend and I ordered the mushrooms appetizer, a side of plantains, the bossa salad which we split and it was more than enough food. In fact, we took home the leftover plantains and mushrooms. The food was really good. The bossa salad dressing was really tasty. I loved the gorgonzola, almonds and the raw onions on it and finished it all. Love the location and will be back the next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Holy plantains we loved our dinner here! Thank you to server Becky- I appreciate your customer service and genuine friendliness. We need more of that in the world We got: - Chicken Skewers (so good! Absolutely my favorite) with plantains, sweet potato fries, and powered grains. The last side wasn't my favorite - Lemon Garlic Chicken (pretty yummy! More on the low key side flavor wise) Guys- these plantains were golden perfection. Sweet and soft...yummy! Just keep in mind after 10pm it's a 21% service charge and a 1-2% extra charge for the kitchen

Anahi M.

Yelp
João was a great host ! Such great service! Food was amazing and fresh! Ambiance spectacular!

Jesslyn M.

Yelp
Spice Vodka pasta was very spicy without much flavor. Chocolate cake was really good though. Brazilians bread was very hard and dry.
google avatar

Brenda R.

Yelp
There pastas are so good we waited 30 mins to be seated , but it was worth the wait , my cucumber cocktail was super good , I strongly recommend.

Teresa G.

Yelp
It was my first time trying it. The food was absolutely great, especially considering the prices and portions. We had Joǎo host us and was absolutely wonderful. He was very attentive and helpful with his recommendations. It is a great place for dinner and catch up with friends. We will be visiting again.
google avatar

Rebecca N.

Yelp
The food is amazing especially the California salad (so many hearts of palm and the balsamic dressing is delicious) and the service, tonight was with Paulina, is always top notch . Thank you!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Food is always good, but I got one suggestion. Having worked in the customer service industry for over 20 years, and at a well known location just down the street, the employees help the bottom line. Every time I come here I order the carbonara, but I always forget to add the chicken. Not ONCE has the dude with the beard ever upsold me on chicken, shrimp or anything to add with the carbonara. So tonight I mentioned that I always forget to order the chicken....he said "BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME." With a chuckle. Those kinda people come to work for a check, and not to help the business grow. I hope one day he changes his attitude to help make the business more profitable and to make more money in his pocket.

Yelp
I have truthfully spent far more money at Bossa Nova than I would like to admit. The portions are huge for the price, and everything is incredible! Highly recommend the super bowls, chicken entree, and pizza. Pro tip, order the flatbread. It's huge and only $9. Great place for a celebration or large party, the servers are always fast and attentive. Shoutout Yago he's always been our favorite.
