"Just down the street from La Super-Rica, Bossie’s Kitchen is the perfect cafe for when you need a break from the crowded restaurants downtown. This casual counter-service spot is part-deli, part-doughnut shop, and part-neighborhood bistro, and it’s located in a former dairy plant. There isn’t much space inside, but the string-lit patio out front offers a nice place to relax with lunch after a hike, or sit down to a leisurely dinner. During the day, the restaurant serves options like a Korean fried chicken sandwich and citrus salad, while dinner features rotating specials like lemongrass shrimp curry and chicken pot pie. If you're in Santa Barbara, you can't miss Bossie's Kitchen for either lunch or dinner - both are great! Every time we're in town we make a stop or two if time allows. The staff is friendly and courteous, outdoor seating is nice, and the dishes are consistently excellent. I've enjoyed everything I've tried on the menu and would also recommend the specials as those have also been quite delicious. The food and vibe here are aces!

My favorite lunch spot in Santa Barbara. Even my impatient teenager will happily wait for the food here because of its high quality. We like the half sandwich and side door lunch. My teenager loves the turkey sandwich with mac and cheese and I love the BLT with side salad (citrus or peach salad). I would say it's the best BLT I've ever had and I've had quite a few. The daily soup special is also worth considering, with great bread on the side. Fresh iced tea too. Can be a bit crazy on peak at it's also popular with the local high school kids so we try to get there around 11:30 or after 1. Great pastries too. Summer update: food still great, but kitchen was slower when we visited. Don't come here if you're in a rush, but this place really deserves a visit for lunch when you have say 75+ mins.

Great place to grab large portion for lunch if you are in the Milpas area. We would have liked the chicken more crispy, maybe it was not roasted enough? The portions are big! I love the inside atmosphere and deco. The donuts are the best in Santa Barbara.

Visiting the area stopped here for lunch to takeout. I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich. Also selected a Berry Pistachio donut, A Chocolate Pistachio Sea Salt Cruller, and a Brown Butter-Miso Walnut Sesame cookie. The sandwich was fabulous. Great flavors would definitely get that again. The sweets though weren't my favorite. Especially at that price point I was expecting amazing. And the flavors just weren't there for me. I wish I could have tried the Passion Fruit Coconut donut but it was sold out already. And the Brown Butter Vanilla Cruller was all taken by a group of ladies in front of me and they were raving about those. Also, when I got home the Berry donut had no frosting on it because it was stuck to the inside of the bag they slide them into so that was also disappointing. But it's a cute restaurant. Love the atmosphere inside and out. And very friendly staff.

On two separate visits to Santa Barbara I have been brought here by different hosts. They are obviously doing something right at Bossie’s Kitchen. We had the Korean fried chicken, and a grilled cheese sandwich with avocado. Both were delicious. We had some donuts for dessert to top off a great meal. The service was great and the casual dining was very relaxing on a perfect California evening.

I was extremely disappointed with my recent dinner at Bossie’s Kitchen. I was there with my husband and another couple. For starters, we ordered the truffle fries, which is usually so delicious wherever we have ordered then , but these fries were a disappointment. They were overdone, were brown instead of golden and tasted burned. We did not taste the truffle flavor. The chicken I ordered was supposed to be a rotisserie chicken with herbs, but the chicken I was served tasted like it was steamed, then deep fried and had no herb flavor. The rest of my party ordered the salmon and had no issues. I will certainly not be going there again.

Bossie’s kitchen is my favorite local restaurant! It’s very cozy and unassuming, but the food and service are great every time. I love all the warm touches like the plants and string lights. My favorite dish is the tamarind fried chicken sandwich, and the baked goods are always a lovely treat. I recommend Bossie’s for a cozy, low-key lunch or dinner with your partner or a couple of friends 🩷
