Perfect Northern Massachusetts apple-picking farm ♡ The person who sold us the bag and gave us directions was friendly and kind; easy to talk to. I was a little nervous because I hadn't been apple-picking since I can barely remember, but those nerves were immediately eased by the simple process of purchasing a bag for a peck 🍎 The trail to the orchard took us through a nice autumn forest walk, and it opened up to a lush plethora of fragrant trees. And gosh, these apples are incredibly crisp and juicy 🤤

It is a wonderful place for doing apple picking or tasting apple cider, especially during the autumn in Massachusetts.

My friends and I absolutely love this place. We travel up from Cambridge to enjoy a delicious lunch (they have the best soup and sandwiches) and then we amble through the trails, and just take in the beauty of nature while picking apples. We learned today that if you go early in the season (September), the apples might still be a bit sour...sweet, but sour. If you go later, after a cold snap, the apples get a sugar snap and are sweeter. I like the apples sour, I like the apples sweet. This is just information. The shop is delightful, and their cider donuts are LIFE. They are sooo good. And the staff are the salt of the earth. Just good people through and through. It's a family owned, not a big commercialized farm - just good "goodness" all around. Five and a half stars.

This place has plenty of apples left in their orchards for apple picking! Other farm's picking seasons have ended though the kind gentleman working the counter assured me Boston Hill Farm is only halfway through theirs. We ended up with a big peck of delicious and crisp Macoun apples from the first orchard we saw - they have other apple varieties further down. To get there we did a 3-5 minute walk from the parking lot and saw some goats, chickens, bunnies, and sheep along the way. Before we left we got some delicious homemade candies, cider, and whoopie pies from their farm stand. If you're looking for a scenic and family friendly experience this season I can't recommend Boston Hill Farm enough 🍎 We will surely be back

Really cute farm and wasn't crowded at all! There shop had some amazing donuts and pies, and the produce in the fields was great. Also there are goats. Far better than Connor's, definitely recommend this place!

This is so cute farm and I love the way they have done set up for summer . Beautiful hanging basket . I purchased couple of them 3 weeks ago and still so fresh and blooming . They do have goats and Rabbits you can purchase food for them in the store and feed them . This place is kid friendly. They have beautiful orchard also you can take a walk just inform store people about it and they are ok with it. Very nice and humble staff and yes their honey soda drink and cider donuts are just yummy. I highly recommend this farm if your visiting Andover !!

A stunning, beautiful family farm. Right from the get-go, it's a warm welcome. The shop front and outside areas feel cosy and rustic, and the farm shop itself is brimming with treats, delicacies, and seasonal produce. At this time of year, there were apple cider donuts and warm cider to treat ourselves to while we headed out into the farm to pick apples. They have produce to pick, seemingly all year around, which was a great day out!

A happy place where you can spend the day with your loved ones. We came down to Boston Hill Farm for apple picking. Don't forget to visit the store upfront, they have some delicious desserts and goodies made by local vendors. They also serve food and have a nice sit out. We really enjoyed being here and definitely recommend, you will not be disappointed.

This is the perfect spot to take your granola girl for all of your pumpkin-related needs!

This place is so much fun!!!! We went for Apple picking and there were SOOO many apples and they're all beautiful. Before you get to the Apple picking entrance, there's a little play area for kids and a small area with chickens and baby goats that you can pet and feed! I love that the Apple picking area is huge so you can avoid being around crowds and enjoy your experience. For a bag of apples, it was $30. Was a little disappointed the store ran out of some baked goodies when we got there but in their store, there's everything from fresh honey to ready to bake Apple pies. This place is puppy friendly and also just very laid back so you can enjoy a fun experience here. Street parking and a small parking lot is available. We had no trouble finding parking and we went around 2PM. Would highly recommend dropping by here, especially around September/October for Apple picking

Nice quiet farm to spend a few hours with your little one. They have a few PYO options depending on the time of the year. It's now peach season in August. There're a a few animals that can be fed ($2 per cup of feed). The highlight was the play area for the kids that kept them occupied for quite a while. It's nothing fancy, but there are a few structures that seem to have been built by the farm, and are pretty unique. The farm store has a lot of options available for purchase. A few frozen pies from local stores, huge buckets of richardson ice cream and their amazingly soft cider donuts are a few highlights here. Reasonably priced farm for the amount of time spent there. Would come back again.

Not to thrilled with how the animals are being treated, small wire cages for their big rabbits with feces and pee all over them and their cages. The sheep looks horrible completely matted especially on their backside completely covered with feces for who knows how long. Not enough enrichments for any of the animals, they are just suspose to stand there and wait for people to feed them apples. There was more space for the run down play structures then for their animals. Will not be coming back, really sad to see the lack of basic care for the animals. Apples were ok.

We went this Fall for apple picking. We have two toddler and we were very disappointed with the quality of the toddler play area - there were even exposed wood spikes because many of the wooden toys were coming undone. All of the toys were very worn and broken (e.g., bicycle missing a tire). The property is beautiful and the orchards themselves were so stunning, however, they had advertised a tractor ride and that was not available. The market was fantastic and we had lunch there - I would say the market is 4 stars for sure! The saddest part of the day is the treatment of the animals - for example the rabbit hutches are so small and they were full of animal feces.

We came here during the pandemic for some socially distant outdoor time with the kids. The staff at the store are super friendly. The manager was nice not just to customers but to her employees which I appreciated. The blueberry and raspberry picking are very close and there is a good amount of shade for a hot day. The store has a good selection of sandwiches and treats for lunch. They also have a clean bathroom, and shaded outdoor seating with lots of spacing. Great for kids.

Absolutely adorable!! This farm stand has everything from a deli to ice cream to pick your own peaches and blueberries. I stumbled upon it while looking for a watermelon and it was truly a gem to find. Has produce grown at the farm as well as other food, set up is similar to a small grocery store. Found treats for the cats, dogs, horses, and even bought a cup of grain to go back and feed to the goats and sheep. Such a fun experience!

I made the mistake of promising my Grandson a pumpkin from there. He picked out a decent sized one ( of course ). I took out a 20 dollar bill to pay for it. I almost choked when the cashier said $25. Rip off !!!! Saw the same pumpkins at Shaw's two for $10. Never again , I knew I should have gone to Smolak.

I thought it was funny how some of the reviews here describe the staff at the store being extremely friendly, while other reviews mention that the staff on the phone are very rude. I have to say, those reviews are accurate! I wanted to squeeze in some apple picking before the season wrapped up, so I called the farm to ask about their hours and availability. The person who answered the phone gave very brief "yes/no" responses and rushed me through the conversation. It almost seemed as if they didn't want to speak to me or something. It snowed a few days before I was planning to visit, so I called them again to confirm that they would still be open. Again, the person who answered the phone was impatient and rude. This made me pretty hesitant to visit but my in-person experience was a complete 180 degree difference. The staff member in the store greeted me cheerfully as soon as I stepped in and was extremely helpful telling me what the farm offers. After I bought a bag to pick apples (they have $15, $30, and $60 bags and accept credit card), the staff member stepped outside into the cold to explain to me how to get to the orchard. HUGE contrast from my phone call experience. The store sells food, fresh cider donuts, hot cider, and many other pantry and grocery items. I didn't explore the rest of the farm aside from the apple orchard. The hike to the orchard can get pretty muddy, so remember to wear comfortable shoes. If I didn't have 2 unpleasant phone calls, I would definitely give this place 5 stars.

Love it here! Came for one of my new favorite fall activities, apple picking, and Boston Hill Farm did not disappoint. The apple trees were abundant and we came home with so many delicious apples. Also stopped in the store for apple pie, cider donuts, fresh apple cider, and many other treats. I think the store is family run and definitely has a lovely community feeling which was super welcoming. Great atmosphere and perfect start to fall!

Low key apple picking and the best cider donuts we've had so far. One star off for the incredible number of bees around the cafe area that made it impossible to sit and eat and the number of maskless people on their store.

My daughter and her grandfather went shopping for a Christmas tree. They came home with a Christmas stick. AVERY OVERPRICED Christmas stick. You houldbe ashamed of yourselves.

Just called the farm to find out about picking and the woman was so rude to me after I asked her how much it was to pick your own fruit. Then, she repeated herself in an even ruder way and hung up on me. Their prices for PYO was ridiculously expensive and then to have someone at a farm speak to a person who was going to be a customer of theirs was unspeakable for a business. I would not go to this farm ever after being treated so unkindly.

Went to this farm for the first time to go Strawberry picking and I was wowed! Had so much fun. They had plenty of Strawberries to pick among two fields. They have goats and a play area for kids with cool looking wooden structures. They also sell flower baskets which were huge and decent priced ($25). The farm store inside has a sandwich and soup shop and other grocery goods. Would recommend for an easy day trip right outside of Boston!

Boston Hill Farm was super helpful and responsive to a large cider donut order. We had called 2 days before an event for about 200 Cider donuts, and the owner was more than happy to fulfill the request. We suggested we needed them by early afternoon Wednesday and ordered them on Monday. We were able to prepay on the phone. I went in Wednesday and the donuts were just finished, still warm! They helped back the donuts in my car and the process was very smooth. Better yet, everyone RAVED about how good the donuts were. recommended! Thank you for the help and delicious donuts Boston Hill!

Just got off the phone with the rudest human. I just wanted to ask simple basic questions like price of admission and what animals they had (my daughter really loves bunnies and I heard they had bunnies). She kept rushing me off the phone in this fake high pitched voice repeatedly shrieking over me "any more questions?" Before I could even get two words out. She told me to "just go to the website". I literally was not asking more than one to two reasonable simple questions. Needless to say I will not be taking my child to this place.

I suppose I arrived at this location earlier than others because I had no problem finding parking. First thing we did was walk down this path to the left of the houses and you could see some sheep, goats, and chickens. It was pretty neat, I thought the goats were most interactive. Then if you walk down this road for a little to the left is where the Apple picking is. I believe it's $20 for a smaller bag and $38 for a regular bag (think of a reusable grocery bag from Trader Joe's). Unfortunately you have to buy one if you wanna pick apples. (The place was pretty picked over when we came, but we managed to fill our bag!) A few people had their dogs with them, so feel free to bring them! I saw some people with strollers, idk about getting them around to pick apples, but otherwise you should be okay if you want to bring them. Overall, I had a great time. I bought a dozen cider donuts (they were good, but I have had better). Definitely come if you wanna do something fun for about an hour. They have tons of pumpkins to pick from at the front that look perfect for carving!

I picked apples the other day at Boston Hill Farm. Most importantly, the apples are tasty and I'm satisfied with their quality. I wrote "apples" since although I'm pretty sure I picked Macs and Macouns, I did not see any identifying markers that identified the rows (I had asked if the rows were marked and told yes--I probably just didn't see the markers for flag tape). No big deal. I've never picked apples in the area; 60 bucks for half a bushel (20 - 24 pounds) seems a bit STEEP! I picked 22 pounds and thus my apples cost 2.73/lb...that approximates RETAIL prices!! I didn't check to see how much per pound the on site store charged, but presumably even more. I've picked in VT for years; last time I picked was 2019 and I paid 99 cents per pound. At a different orchard and a year earlier, I paid 14.00 for a half a bushel...compared to 60 bucks at Boston Hill Farm. I was only interested in picking and I didn't really check out the store, but I went inside to pay for picking. The goods looked nice; not sure about the value proposition. If you go: You may want to wear BOOTs. It was a bit buggy, but not annoyingly so.

Apples were plentiful and in amazing condition. Loved the Macouns. Lines moved quickly and even tho there seemed to be 50+ cars, it felt like we were the only ones there. Really spread out and nice area. Will come back again soon

20$ for a Peck today to apple pick...$4 for Richardsons small ice cream .. $11 for a pretty good size of their own homemade honey Not too bad ..Short scenic walk to orchards .. Amazing place for kids to play .. And Best of all Richardsons ice cream and pumpkins/gourds ! Over looking small water inlet with white cranes flying over .. Just an amazing day ! Thank you Boston Hill Farm for an amazing day ! These memories last forever!

Was there last week, as I was driving by and there was a sign that said "New Dinner pies" inside. Trying to care for my fellow neighbors, I went in to buy a few. A small chicken pot pie was $27!!! A bunch of soulless price gaugers it turns out. I just reported them to the Attorney Generals Office

Great time at Boston Hill Farm today. Plenty of apples to pick (no ladder or rake needed),cutest petting zoo and yummy cider donuts. Go early to beat the crowds.

This is a quaint little farm that seems to be a family business. We looked it up on the internet so we weren't sure what to expect. It was a beautiful day and they had some pumpkins for sale and also a little shop, and it seemed as if they were selling hotdogs. We got there early and found pumpkins- when we left at noon it was packed and people were fighting over our parking space, so just try to get there when they open. However.... we almost left because we had no idea where anything was. There just needs to be more signs! Since we'd never been there before, we were entirely unsure of how everything worked. When we parked we were like "uhh, do we go further up? Where's the pumpkins? What is happening?" So we parked, and looked around and thought "Oh its just a farmer's market. Oh well, I guess we'll buy some pumpkins and hit the road". But then we heard some other people talking about the pumpkin patch and petting zoo, so we sort of creepily followed them down this tiny path beside the building, and it opened up into a petting zoo with some structures for children to play on (we didn't have kids with us). There were trucks waiting for hay riders but we decided to look around to try to find the pumpkins. Hay rides were $3 a pop. We then found someone that looked like they had been there before, so we followed him too up the road and stumbled upon a lady at a vendor stand that said "the pumpkins are up the hill". She was very nice. When we found the pumpkins, they were sort of strewn about and many were covered in stink bugs (expected with home grown places, and it's late in the season). We both picked a pumpkin and it was fun looking for one. They were medium sized, about $6 a pop. Honestly, the scenery is so beautiful. Big open spaces with bodies of water, the foliage was breathtaking. I had a fabulous time, but maybe that's because I'm not a judgemental asshole. Seriously, some people are such snotty bitches on this website! Oh I had to WALK down the gorgeous foliage lined road to get to the apple picking! They only have 3 types of apples! Get over yourself. Everyone is complaining it's expensive, but honestly it's not... or maybe I just missed some entrance fee I was supposed to pay? $3 for a hay ride and $30 something for a bag of apples is normal I thought... apple picking prime time ends in mid September so that's why we only did pumpkins. Family owned business it seems, very quaint, everyone was the farmer type, quiet and kind. I don't want to support a business that employs uniformed bubbly apple fanatics who are in your face. These are home grown honest people trying to have a home grown honest business, and I respect that. Just give us some more directions, maybe more signs around the place (i.e. this way for apple picking!) so I don't feel like Alice in Wonderland falling down rabbit holes to stumble upon different places.

We came here today and had a great time! Parking was easy and the orchards were full of great fruit - huge apples! On our way to the orchard we also got to see some of the farm animals, including rabbits, chickens, and sheep. We definitely got our money's worth. We did not pick pumpkins, but people seemed to be having a great time doing that. We also were able to get cider donuts, apple cider, fudge, and ice cream in the little shop, along with getting a "pre-picked" pumpkin. As a bonus, they take credit cards, too! It wasn't as "busy" as other orchards I've been to in terms of activities for kids, but if all you want to do is pick apples and eat food, this is hard to beat.

I went to Boston Hill Farm today with two friends for a festive fall day of apple picking. Coming from Cambridge, the farm was very easy to find -- just follow the directions on their website and you should be good to go. The main farm store is right on Rte 114, and today was accompanied by an ice cream stand (boasting 40 flavors... the 3 we tried were yummy), bouncy castle, live country band, and playground/petting zoo. Seemed like it would be a blast for little kids. The farm store had a small but quality selection of produce and homemade goods, and outside there were gourds and hardy mums for purchase. There is a parking lot adjacent to the farm store which is also quite small, so most people parked on the side of the road -- either on Rte 114 or the crossroad. Down the crossroad a short distance is where the U-Pick apples and pumpkins are. There was a limited selection of apple varieties available -- only Cortland, McIntosh and Macoun -- but the trees were in good condition for the most part. Prices were $15 for a half-bushel and $25 for a peck (I *think* those were the units... just think "small bag" and "big bag"). We only briefly looked at the pumpkin patch, where the pumpkins seemed once again small but healthy. As for the negatives, I thought the experience could be improved by more produce selection and a more friendly staff... the few employees we interacted gave the impression of being surly, bored or both. Overall, a pleasant experience nonetheless.

All the apples had weird black spots on them and the bugs were in full blooms (must have been the bogs surrounding the trees.) Carriages are not allowed in the orchard , which made keeping track of one of the sleeping children a hassle. These issues would not have been that big of a deal if the prices for the apples were not so expensive. I'll be honest I am only writing this review because of how they acted around closing time. The place closes at 6pm on Sunday, which is fine but the way they handled the process was textbook how to not handle customers. We were enjoying some time at the play area with some other families (of people who we do not know) when someone who must have been the manager came driving down the driveway, beeped her horn several times and yelled "It is 6:10, you all need to get out, we closed at 6:00." I understand we ended up there a few minutes after the stated closing but it was an incredibly rude way to handle customers who lost track of time. After walking to our cars I was in my car trying to pull up the GPS when the same woman with her SUV began flashing her high beams at me and was pointing wildly at the exit. I went to leave and she rode my bumper the whole way out. If the woman is a manager she should be retrained, if she is the owner she should look into another line of work. A little note about how I feel qualified to assess an orchard/farm stand. My family has gone apple picking every year for over 40 years and we are now entering into the 3rd generation, so we have some extensive experience going to these sorts of stands. Several years ago our regular place for decades closed so we have been trying out places to become out new "place." Of all the places we have been we have never seen such rude customer service.

Visited on 10/10/2015 Stopped in around 530pm after having been to another orchard earlier in the day. We were in search of cider donuts and figured to give this place a try; therefore, this review is limited to the store only. Very small inside, and a bit of a circus, as the aisles are too small and narrow to allow proper passage. We grabbed a bunch of fresh cider donuts, and they did not disappoint. However, the cider was cold and needed to be heated up from the folks behind the counter. This proved challenging, as they grouped ours with another guest's and mayhem ensued as we weren't able to discern who's was who's. Lots and lots of 'local' fare (read: not name brand), and outrageously priced.

I see mixed reviews about this place, but we love it! As a local mom I like this place because it has a great playground for the kids (a tractor, pirate ship w/slide, playhouse, tire horse swings, wooden train and sandbox with other toys- see my photo) a small pen with animals (rabbits, chickens, goats, and sheep), don't forget to buy a container of food to feed them. It even has a picnic table to have lunch/snacks and most of the area is in the shade. The farm store has produce, sandwiches, snacks, candy and Richardson's ice cream. I think it's a great place to take the kids to play. Plus it's never crowded!

If you plan to go apple picking, go to Bolton because Boston Hill Farm has a few rows of apple trees and 95% of the apples have insect bites so you really have to pick 15 before you find one that is good. Other apple picking locations have a hayride or something for kids but this place really has no extras. I'd suggest condos as a better use for the site.

Looking for a more low-key, less commercial place for some wholesome apple picking? Boston Hill is a good option. I am a huge fan of New England fall family traditions so while visiting family I had my mind-set on doing some apple picking. I had been to Boston Hill for pumpkins in the past and liked the laid back feel.They have apple picking, a small, creative playground area, a few farm animals and beautiful scenery. A short walk down a side road will take you to the orchards where you can purchase bags for apples. The $20 price tag per bag seemed expensive at first but I guess you can fit a good amount of apples in each bag. Then again, not sure what a competitive price would be. We went the first weekend in October and there where plenty of apples on the trees. You can take a hayride back to the main house for a fee, or walk the short distance. After apple-picking be sure to grab some cider donuts in the shop. So good!

This review has been hanging out in my drafts for about a year, and I kind of felt bad about posting it, but no-- I hate that this place happened to me. Stupid, stupid me for not looking it up on Yelp first. Look, I don't care that it's a small farm and that they have only 3 kinds of apples to choose from. (No honeycrisps? DENIED.) I don't care about the old man band--That was kind of charming. I don't even care about the hideous parking situation. All of these things, I will let slide. What I cannot abide is being swindled out of my hard earned cash, and then blatantly ignored. The Boston Hill experience started off with being yelled at by some overbearing blonde troll when my friend tried to take my picture with the goofball wooden cow they had set up for some sort of "festival". We were loudly informed that "the games were 2$ each". Whether that meant 2 dollars a person, or 2 dollars a photo, or 2 dollars each time you looked at the so-called "games" (There was one of those stupid strong man bell ringing things, a wooden cow you could milk, and one of those things you stick your face in an take a picture. By my estimation, ma'am, that is only one legitimate game.) We begrudgingly gave her 4 dollars as she menacingly approached us and then hovered closely while we took the intended picture. Wow, what a FUN game. Picture taking. Then we had to walk down to the orchards through veritable swampland, or take a tractor for more money. When we got to the orchard, the trees looked like they had been blighted by idiot infestation, and a ton of apples had been chucked on the ground. Even still, we managed to get pretty deep into the orchard and come out with a decent haul. I definitely paid $34 for a 1/2 bushel of apples. Compare that to: Bolton Spring Farm: $24 for 1/2 bushel Nashoba Valley Winery (where you can also get shlammered): $25 for 1/2 bushel Finally, on the way back to the car, we stopped into the store for some cider donuts and other tasty vittles. I literally stood at the back counter for a full 20 minutes watching the employees blatantly ignore me. I said "excuse me" very politely about five times, and then from that point on, I was just amused at how long they could keep pretending that I wasn't a real physical presence. I even, at one point, questioned my own corporeality. BOOOOO, Boston Hill Farms. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I'm only ever going to Nashoba Valley Winery from now on. Better apple selection, better staff, better prices, better experience. Oh yeah, and WINE.

I felt that I had to write a review after reading all the other ones. This is our third year bringing a group of "brown" teenagers out for a field trip. Boston Hill has been great to us. Quite frankly, I'm always in awe of how awesome they are with a rambunctious group of city kids. The price is similar to most other orchards, and with our big group, it ends up being cheaper. The kids helping out our group are friendly, and at times a bit shy, but they've never been rude. Sometimes people are just quiet, and they don't care what color your skin is. And for the people who are complaining about selection, size, or how fancy the place isn't - remember - IT'S A SMALL FAMILY RUN FARM. If you want one of those big conglomerate ones, then go to one. There are many of us that prefer the little fun cutesy ones. Yes, the hay ride is short...it's because the place is small. Yes, the parking lot is bumpy, it's because it's expensive (and gross) to pave this giant parking lot. Yes, it may be an old man band...but they don't have to have a band there. It was wet and soggy cause they just got rain. Seriously?!?! What, pray tell, do you expect they do to get rid of rain water so you can come trample their farm?!!? *sigh* Just silly. IT'S A FARM.

It's nice to see a come back from the dead. For years I drove by this place & thought "what's up with that place" Nice farm stand on a busy road. Honestly I can't say if they were closed or just looked closed. However in the last few years Boston Hill Farm has seemed to have made quite a comeback. They have a nice farm stand with on site grown produce, they offer Apple & Pumpkin Picking in the fall, plus strawberry, blueberry & peach picking earlier in the year. Hayrides, kid's games a petting zoo and ice Cream (Richardson's!) On fall weekends look for BBQ ribs and chicken from "The Bone yard" and musical entertainment provided by "Ray Fredericks and the Country Express Band". Right on Rt 114 its easy to get to.

South Boston Neighborhood House Seniors went apple picking at the Farm--Staff was awesome, so helpful. Staff members went above and beyond in helping everyone on the hayride to the orchards. Lunch was great. Apple cider donuts were delicious along with apple cider. We will definitely be coming back for berry picking in the late spring. Everyone enjoyed their day!!

This is the first U-pick apple place we visited in MA. Pretty happy with it. A bag supposedly holding 12 lb is $18, which I consider kinda expensive, but it may just be the going price. There are only 3 kinds of apples for picking: Macoun, Cortland, and Macintosh. The girl at the u-pick stand told us that there used to be yellow apples too, but right now they are not available because they couldn't watch that part of the orchard well enough. There were still plenty of good apples on the trees - it's Oct 2nd - so it didn't take very long to fill our bag. Quite a few apples have some dark spots on them, which could be the result of the rainy weather lately. The shop at the farm sell stuff like fruits, honey, and jams from local and regional farms. Not cheap, but not particularly expensive either. The apple cider donuts were quite tasty. There's also a little ice cream stand by the shop that has a variety of flavors. Two big scoops on a kiddie cone is only $2.99. The chocolate one we had was very rich and creamy and had the just right amount of firmness to it. On the playground there are trains, trucks, and tractors constructed with wood for children to climb on, which are very popular with the kids there (including mine) along with other common playground attractions. There are also several farm animals on display including goats and rabbits. The free roaming chickens and rabbits are especially fun to watch. It must be so fun that we had to go back to the playground after lunch for the kids to stop begging. Overall it's a great place for a few hours of autumn fun for the whole family. It's also so easy to access (right on Rt 114 in N. Andover), which makes an easy decision to go whenever you feel like to.

This family farm is trying very hard. I imagine it must be difficult to make money as a small farm. And by difficult, I mean impossible. They've pulled out all the stops - they have ice cream (Richarson's) and a country store with baked goods year round. During this brief season we call Autumn, you can pick your own pumpkins, pick your own apples from the mini-apple trees, listen to a country rock band, eat BBQ, jump on the moonwalk thing for $2 (if you're a kid... drat), visit some goats and sheep in their muddy "petting zoo", play on a playground, or take a hay ride. I'm not one for all the "extras." The apples are enough to get me out there, but the girls I was babysitting for were all about the moonwalk and the apple cider donuts. The main attraction - apple picking - was interesting. You have to walk down a country road for 1/3 of a mile, perhaps with one of their wagons. There they have a small cluster of dwarf apple trees. These are good for kids, but I found them kind of disappointing. We didn't get any of the apple picking stick basket things! And the variety of apples available was limited. All in all, I wouldn't return here unless I were with kids again. I prefer picking at Doe Orchards in Harvard - more variety, less crowded, cheaper prices, and they have the apple picking stick things.

Just went there to grab some donuts and apple cider, but the property looked beautiful. The donuts and apple cider were tasty The little shop had all sorts of different treats in there.

was there 2 weeks ago, got what I thought was the "great pumpkin". Remembering Shaws Jack 'o Lanterns are $5 I begrudgingly paid $14.00 for a pumpkin that rotted in 2 weeks time. I never got to carve it. Everything was overpriced but because of the atmosphere, etc I didn't mind at the time- never again.

We spent an entire day last Fall picking pumpkins, apples and enjoying the many kids attractions they have set up. They have wonderful cider donuts which are my favorite Fall treat, and were quite pleased with the bbq tent they also had set up. Unfortunately after the rain we had this past few months I am not sure if we will be able to partake in the same experience come this Fall. Their pumpkin patch has since flooded and the road to it is completely shut off from the 114 side. I'd love to be able to make this our pumpkin picking site again this year but I just don't think it will be possible. I hope for the farm's sake and those who run it that they find an alternative because I know my family is not the only one who enjoyed it this much this past fall!

Boston Hill Farm is pricy, but for the money you pay you will get a premium product WITH FANTASTIC customer service. They grow their own produce and make delicious sandwiches and other treats. Around the holidays make sure you order one of their pies in advance (Pecan, blueberry, apple, etc.) if you can't decide just get one of each!

My family and I took a ride out on Rt. 114 in the early afternoon, on Saturday, Sept. 17. It was a perfect early Fall day, and we had no particular destination. We saw the entrance to the farm, and decided to stop and check it out. Little did we know, that we would be spending the next four hours having a great time here. The first thing that I noticed was the aroma of BBQ wafting down from the BBQ pit a short distance from where we parked. My wife and daughter had eaten breakfast, and were anxious to explore the grounds and the bake shop. I went over to the BBQ area and had a tasty meal of chicken, pulled pork, and some of the best beans I've ever tasted. Adding to the down-home atmosphere, was some live music provided by a solo singer/guitar player. He was playing a song by Hank Williams (he mentioned it was Hank's birthday.) The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. We picked apples, took the hay ride, and walked a lot while enjoying the fresh air. We will certainly be going back to Boston Hill Farm again this season.

Came here a few weekends ago when it was sunny. Only stopped because I wanted apples and forgot the way to Smolak Farms. Expect to be stared down - as others have said (and I'm white). The parking lot is CRAZY. A normal car can't fit in and you go over a bump so hard you almost shit yourself. When you finally find something and manage to park on a bumpy grassy muddy hill - after waiting about 20 minutes for the throngs of families not looking around - you walk into a dingy shop. There are lots of offerings, but nothing I particularly look for at "the farm". Cold cuts? Frozen fish? A fudge/candy counter? Candles? I don't' know what they are trying to be. The actual apples and fruits are banged up - and I managed to find THREE apples I could actually purchase. I also found a lot of moldy insect infested pears and apples - and placed those to the side of the bin so no one else would have to touch them. The staff just doesn't seem to care at all what's going on in the store. They just stare and stare - regardless of if you are inside or out. Have a question? They have a stare face. Obese "farmers" are outside at a make shift table taking money. A random old man band is playing. There are smokers that look like food was in them hours ago....it's like a scene out of Deliverance. Just go somewhere else that takes pride in themselves and wants return customers.

Went apple picking on October 1st. Not sure if that's late, but all the apples were rotting. It was hard to find enough good ones to fill our bag. It is also a small area to pick from compared to other places I've been. I wouldn't pick there again. We did like the farm stand though. The apple ciders donuts were great!

We had a great time at boston hill farm today. We went on a week day early in the season. My 4 year old and his buddies played for hours in the play ground and had a blast. The parents had sandwiches made in the country store and said they were yummy. The petting zoo was small, but the kids enjoyed feeding the sheep and goats. All in all a great morning play date. The country store had a large selection of gluten free items, which was great for out friend with celiac disease. All the employees we came in contact with were very friendly.

Heard from a friend about this place, and went for a ride to check it out. The fall foliage is just peaking and I timed it perfectly. This weekend had great weather and not a lot of road traffic. A glorious sunny day, went for a hay ride, picked some apples, some pumpkins, and bought a fresh Apple Pie. I love the Autumn, and this is such a pretty farm to spend a fall afternoon. BBQ options, live music, cider donuts, ice cream, in-season product, and great coffee too. Wish I lived near by, I'd be a regular customer. PS- The pie was amazing! See you all next year!!

I came here last week with my five grandkids and husband, and I felt obligated to write about our amazing experience! There was so much to do and buy, including apple and pumpkin picking, hayrides, a barbecue, a live band, and a store filled with many treats and knick-knacks! My grandkids especially loved the girl who worked in the apple orchard. She was extremely friendly, privided us with great tips for apple picking, and even gave each of us a pumpkin stamp upon leaving the orchard! Afterwards, we spent an hour petting the adorable animals at the petting zoo and playing on the playground (though my playing was limited due to my knee implants!). We will definitely be returning to Boston Hill Farm again!

Boston Hill Farm: If you are a white customer, expect: -inadequate parking which is half a mile away from the actual orchard -walking on a make-shift wooden plank bridge (if it rained the night before) because the road to the orchard would be flooded by the surrounding streams. -Overpriced bag options- $30 dollar for a bag around four gallons in size, $18 for a bag around 2 gallons. -Small orchard, few varieties of apples (about 3?). -no signs explaining which type of apple trees we're picking from (one would think this is easy to do considering there are only about 3 varieties) -deep and potentially dangerous ditches near the golden delicious--some are nearly knee deep, keep an eye out on your little ones less they trip into those trenches which are located near the bottom left of the sloping hill. -Overgrown weeds, likely to cause tripping -Thorny vines intermingled within the branches and trunks of the dwarfed trees --not fun when children are trying to pick apples. -an uninspiring hayride--- lasting all of 8 lackluster minutes. -pumpkins strewn all over, rending the field an obstacle path. -Loud mowing from the neighboring house If you are a brown customer, expect all of the above, plus the following: -To be ignored at the entrance -To be sneered at when selecting a bag and have it be implied that you are just spending $58 dollars to gain admission in order to steal more apples than what could fit into the bags (using this logic, why wouldn't one go to a supermarket instead if that was the intention? Admission is free there.) -To have the orchard people repeatedly say that your small purses will be checked upon departure. And to watch as white customers walk in without suffering needless harassment or warnings. -To be followed around while doing your apple-picking because the orchard people really think you're about to rob the orchards of all the apples. -To be referred to as "you people." -To be accused of littering the orchard with the pumpkins (from the nearby pumpkin patch) when in fact, they were already there upon our arrival. We unfortunately experienced all of the above at Boston Hill Farm. We were a large group that included an infant, six children under the age of five, three preteens, and seven adults (there was only one male adult present). Quite frankly, an innocuous-looking bunch in my opinion. What we thought was going to be a fun Saturday afternoon fieldtrip for the children turned out to be a lesson in racial profiling--- and of all places, an apple orchard. It was upsetting and disgusting. Imagine trying to explain to your preteens why this type of thing happens just because they happen to be "different-looking." Luckily, the toddlers were incognizant of the tension. Needless to say, we will not be visiting this farm ever again. If you are looking for a place to enjoy apple-picking with your family, I suggest Honey Pot Hill in Stow--many varieties of apples (even asian pears!), a maze, well maintained fields, huge space for parking, and delicious home-made donuts.
