"The plant-and-light-filled tasting room in downtown Asheville is popular for its flights, cider cocktails, and natural wines, but leaves no glass empty thanks to a thoughtful sans-alcohol section of NA cider, beer, sparkling wine, and craft soda. Botanist and Barrel frequently hosts guest chef pop-ups and live music." - Kay West

I dropped into this spot for my first time, to perform on a comedy show. The staff were very friendly and helpful woth the menu. Several on-draft and pre-paclaged drink options, as well as nonalcoholic selections. And, a pleasantly surprising diverse array of tinned fish from all over the world. The space is clean and has a chilled-out atmosphere. I recommend a glass of mead and some cheese straws, at the very least.

My partner and I stumbled upon this tasting bar - literally stumbled (strada was the scheduled plan, they weren’t open yet). When I tell you we were SO impressed with the hospitality and knowledge of cider/wines, I’m not exaggerating! Amanda was our server and she was AMAZING! The cheeseboard was absolutely phenomenal paired with a flight of our servers choices of wine. I fell in love with the Traminette and HAD to purchase a bottle. I am so excited to come back and visit and bring my friends who I know will fall in love with it too!

My wife and I were visiting Asheville for a concert and we went in on a Saturday night. Our server, Amanda, was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and welcoming. We sampled many ciders and wines as well as a charcuterie board. Great selection of locally sourced dry ciders! Will definitely my go to for drinks in downtown Asheville!

Jim was wonderful! I truly believe he wouldn't have been happy unless he found something we liked and he really did! I would never have considered vermouth over ice but wow!! He picked two that were truly amazing. We also have a ten of sardines in lobster oil And they were delicious! I wish we lived closer but I know when we come back to Asheville we will be going back there.

Excellent cider experience! Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates local cider that isn’t too sweet. My favorite here is the Tropical Blaze— Paw Paw fruit, mango, and Thai chili come together for a bright and crisp cider. Close second is Pardon my French. Staff is friendly and helpful, and there are different specials for each weekday. Reasonable price for the variety of local ciders available here, haven’t found another place for cider (or mead) like this in the area! Would return again.

Owner or host was sort of rude, I was in the shop to purchase ciders and she wasn’t helpful at all. She did not ask if I would like to taste a few before I bought. I picked two, Sunshine Rainbow which was supposed to taste like Apricot and a Strawberry cider. Also she didn’t mention that the ciders taste like kombucha…so imagine opening a bottle expecting to enjoy an amazing cider … it tasted worse than Apple Cider Vinegar… so do not expect to open a bottle and enjoy it. Was a total surprise, one bottle was $14 and the other $13. The other lady that was working with the main lady gave exceptional service. I collect stickers and she went out of her way to run down the sidewalk to bring them to me so gold star ⭐️ to her!!!

The most diverse array of local botanical ciders I’ve ever had! There is something for every palette here. Bonus points for the huge tinned fish selection.

I kept seeing post for their anniversary party on Instagram and after exploring a bit more, I knew I wanted to visit the spot. I am such a sucker for cute little boutique wine shops/bars. This one did not disappoint. We came here on a Sunday, and there was plenty of room. The DJ was a little bit loud and a bit odd for the space but it’s fun that they were trying something new so I can’t complain. I think a little acoustic session might have been better suited, but also it was raining previously so it would be hard to spread out. We did wipe down the tables out front and sat there. Made it much more comfortable, and the people watching was fire. They had a special menu for the party, but it seems like they have daily specials on the reg. The price is a little more expensive, but it is downtown and upscale. The quality is wonderful. My partner and I split a little wine tasting (probably a bit under 2 glasses) at $22. They had cider for around eight dollars but plenty of options for people who love different things. The one worker we had was incredibly attentive and welcoming. Honestly, all of the staff we spoke to were great. He gave us a bunch of amazing suggestions for our charcuterie board. The board itself was delicious and beautiful. Wonderful quality, delicious food and extremely local. The meats and cheeses were all a hit.

Yelp
This location was right down the street from where we decided to have brunch and the reviews were intriguing which brought us here. We were immediately greeted by Katie who is just a wonderful human being. They have wine and ciders and basically is a tasting room. Their coders are done in-house, although some of their ciders are in partnership with other ciders from around the country. I opted for a flight that included not where we be heirloom Pat and the strawberry rhubarb. I was actually very surprised at how much I like the not where we be heirloom as it is a little bit different than most ciders that I enjoy. The strawberry rhubarb was also very delicious. We will be going back to pick up some items before we head out of town but we are truly going back because of the amazing hospitality that Katie gave to us while we were there. She was so helpful in explaining the multiple different ciders but also just amazing at sharing things to see and do places to eat around Asheville as well.

Yelp
So yummy and great staff!! PawPaw's was our fav! I definitely recommend the flight to try multiple

Yelp
This place is an absolute must! They are forever added to my Asheville list and they should be on yours too! The service here is like none others. They accommodated a 13 person bachelorette party SEAMLESSLY. We had such a great time and felt right at home. The experience was so fun and the spot was so cute! They served a great array of cheeses and crackers to have with our delicious wine selection. I don't drink alcohol and they graciously had non-alcoholic wine that actually tasted good. Y'all. I will forever buy this wine now. Non-alcoholic wine that is natural and tastes good is unheard of... For lunch I got their tomato soup and baguette, both were delicious and absolutely wonderful. That macrons they sourced were like no other. I will dream of those macrons they were so good. Overall, I cannot wait to go back to this amazing place.

Katie D.

Yelp
I wish that I could give this place a million and one stars! This was a stop on my bachelorette party trip and each and every one of my friends had an amazing time. They accommodated 13 girls with such ease and made us all feel welcomed. Of course the highlight of the day for me was the pourron. I've never experienced something like that before but I'm obsessed. I now have one of my own which I'm already making plans to use. The ciders and wine they selected were delicious and also personal to important things in my life, like Greek wine for my Greek fiancé and French wine for my minor in college. I also really enjoyed the tinned fish. I really didn't think it would be something I like, but now I want more. Also, I want to give them huge props for providing non-alcoholic drinks for the people not drinking in the group!! If you're thinking of visiting, please do!!!

James J.

Yelp
Loved stopping in tonight for delicious ciders!! Lots of local ciders, wonderful service , and great menu.. can't wait to return t try more...

Christopher C.

Yelp
They have such a great selection of natural wines and ciders! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed with warmth. The live music on the Friday night we were there added to the ambiance. If I lived here in Asheville I would be here everyday!

Trisha F.

Yelp
This place was so unique and quaint. I loved trying the cider flights, and the cheese was a large size. In my experience with charcuterie boards, the cheese size you get is small, but this was large! The inside was cute, and sweet little outdoor tables too! The women's bathroom had opera music which was a bit humorous, and lovely. The server was very personable and lovely! I would come back!

Kat H.

Yelp
This was a nice surprise! We stepped in to a cute and cozy little social spot. Service was excellent and staff knowledgeable about their product. Cheese board had the largest helpings we have ever been served on a board! A definite must try!

Meagan S.

Yelp
Came here on Christmas Eve for the afternoon as they were having some live music featured. Must have walked past it a number of times but bummed it took until now to go in. Some light snacks but what steals the show is their fresh ciders of which there are MANY. They also have cans of beer and non-alcoholic selections if cider isn't your thing. We got a charcuterie board ($25 for choice of 3 items and it included bread and delicious toppings) and it was a great and filling snack, but I wouldn't recommend going super hungry! If you're going at peak time or for an event definitely get there early as it's an intimate place so seating is relatively limited, especially if your group is more than 2 or 3 people.

Yelp
This is the best cider bar in Asheville serving delicious, natural cider which you can't find in other local ciders. I love stopping in for a flight and some food as well as grabbing cider to take home. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. This will continue to be one of our favorite spots in Asheville!

Michelle s.

Yelp
Had their black and blue cider. I loved it! It was deliciously sweet. My wife had the wine flight and she liked it as well.

M T.

Yelp
It may be OK if you're looking for cider. The service was friendly. I did the "wine" flight, and cider is not wine, in my opinion.

Veronica V.

Yelp
We love this place! Ms. Savannah is impressively knowledgeable and passionate about the wine. Her recommendations were perfect. Enjoyed and appreciated the music. The decor is attractive. We highly recommend the Botanist & Barrel Asheville for a relaxing and feel-good experience.

Jeff Z.

Yelp
Botanist & Barrel features a wide variety of ciders, wines, and snacks. The interior is modern and comfortable. Not quite as much space outside, but enough for a cozy date. Service was wonderful!

Kyle E.

Yelp
Had a great time sipping a hard cider flight and chatting with the bartender/owner. You must stop by this cool spot with it's personality.

Conor B.

Yelp
If you're looking for fantastic ciders, excellent pastries, lots of great local provisions, and fantastic service look no further. Botanist and barrel has you covered on every level. They have an abundance of ciders, flights, and local beers. Atmosphere is extremely relaxed and inviting. Decor is also on point. Stop drinking trulys and check them out.

Jack O.

Yelp
We had a horrible experience at a Wall Street Vegan location, and remembered this place from a prior visit. They have gluten free and vegan charcuterie boards and great gluten free drink options! We will definitely come back every time we are in the Asheville area! The service was excellent!

Becky M.

Yelp
We loved this place! Excellent flights and wonderful staff. The wine tastes like summer.

C H.

Yelp
The perfect afternoon stop! Great selection of their and other ciders and natural wines. Perfect snacks including tinned fish. The smoked oysters!!! Also never thought I would love vegan cheese that much. Very warm service. Might be my favourite new place in town.

Douglas J.

Yelp
Cider is great but pricing is problematic. Flights consist of 4 ciders, so we customized a flight (which we were told we could do), picking 2 ciders from one $15/flight and 2 ciders from another $15/flight. By doing so, we incurred an extra $7 charge, bringing our flight total to $22. Needless to say, we won't be back for that very reason.

X V.

Yelp
Great intimate space and wonderful nitrate free selection of ciders, beers and wines. Savannah was our server for the evening and she was attentive, helpful, and charming. Check out this unknown gem in Asheville!

Bradley G.

Yelp
What a great place - neat vibe; everything you try - gets better; tasty bites - and the service is 6 star! Fun place!

Brian W.

Yelp
Customer service was attentive and top notch. The food was cute and tasty. I selected the guest wine flight and also tried an establishment rosé--all very good. If I lived in Asheville, I would be here every weekend.

Nancy T.

Yelp
This was absolutely the best place to stop for a delicious glass of wine or cider. Friendly people to chat with. Great explanation of flavors and creation. Beautifully decorated with terrariums on the shelves. Very pleased with our find.
