The 33 Best Rio de Janeiro Restaurants | Eater

"Chef Pedro de Artagão specializes in preparing hearty dishes with flair. It was only natural for him to make his medium comida de boteco, the bar food served in countless popular no-frills botecos. At Boteco Rainha, he serves classics from the Rio gastronomic repertoire, such as pastéis (deep-fried, thin-crusted meat pockets), cod fritters, and black bean soup, as well as sandwiches and heartier dishes such as octopus rice or baked cod with potatoes, broccoli, and garlic. Stick to tradition and order your meal with a very cold beer or a caipirinha." - Rafael Tonon

Very good boteco!! I loved the recommendations. Service was fantastic, great spot to enjoy, relax, and people watch! Pro: - service - menu - speed - home cooking - cold beer - great desert! - plenty of seating in and out - the meat pie was AMAZING! Great landmark restaurant!

Amazing spot for dinner. Had some grilled fish that was incredible. The waiters are extremely friendly and accommodating.

Came for a quick Sunday dinner without a reservation and was able to be seated at an inside table. Service was quick and friendly, and menus are available in English. I ordered the a shrimp pastel and the beef stroganoff. Both were delicious and came quickly. Neighborhood is nice and safe.

The food was delicious. The service (Paulo) was excellent. I would recommend the lobster croquettes, the pork and meat dishes. Would definitely come back.

A good carioca boteco. However, it falls short on the food taste. The carne seca is not exactly "seca" and bolinhos are just unarguably better at bracarense. Linguiça was also quite salty Overall a solid 3.8 stars.

Food is amazing! Service is awsome (you are never without a beer)! Vibe is like a old bar, but with great quality! Go for snacks or having real food!
