The 33 Best Rio de Janeiro Restaurants - Eater

"Chef Pedro de Artagão specializes in preparing hearty dishes with flair. It was only natural for him to make his medium comida de boteco, the bar food served in countless popular no-frills botecos. At Boteco Rainha, he serves classics from the Rio gastronomic repertoire, such as pastéis (deep-fried, thin-crusted meat pockets), cod fritters, and black bean soup, as well as sandwiches and heartier dishes such as octopus rice or baked cod with potatoes, broccoli, and garlic. Stick to tradition and order your meal with a very cold beer or a caipirinha." - Rafael Tonon, Taylor Barnes

Great authentic place with a great cuisine! I loved the octopus salad and the different croquettes. The staff was super helpful with the dishes.

The food is indeed delicious! Pro: - delicious deep flavors - great menu - cold drinks - atmosphere and decoration - location Con: - Price (while my food was delicious, this place is much more expensive than surrounding botecos) Service was really good and the portions are huge!

Really enjoyed our lunch here. Probably one of the best restaurant we went to here in Rio. Super authentic, good quality and nice staff and atmosphere. Would recommend!

Recommended. We went for the shared dishes and ordered 4 for two people. Great draft beer too. Food was very tasty. I wish my stomach could fit more of the “Bar gelada” dishes as well. Next time! To me personally, the “torresmo de barriga” was a bit too chunky, while taste was good. A personal highlight was the carne assada - Perfect flavours. All the best to this restaurant!

Absolutely delicious! We got a seafood platter to share for two and there was plenty of food on it. Service was really good too. Really lovely atmosphere around this restaurant. Highly recommend and would go back again tomorrow!

I came back to Rio for the third time and I continue to believe this is probably the best food I've had in Rio. I’ve been here at least 8 times. The torresmo is a MUST! And so is the octopus and picanha with modo de gavea. It is the restaurant I keep going back to and it never fails to disappoint.

Classic Brazilian rotisserie but just on a different level one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood... the only complaint I have about it is it's a bit inconsistent..

Nathan what a blessing as we had just arrived to Brazil and he was patient with us and shared the best items on the menu. He made it easy to order and paying was seem less! The food was amazing and the staff top tier! Must go!!
