"Relaxed wine bars with small shared plates are having a moment in Milan (and, well, everywhere else), but the kitchen at Botoi in Porta Venezia stands out. Call ahead to secure a spot at one of the four tables or two stools to watch the one-man show: the young Italian owner is there every night to chat with guests in between cooking, serving, busing, and pouring wine. The small menu of seasonal seafood and produce is mainly traditional Northern Italian plates with a twist, with standouts like chard lasagna with smoked provola and polenta with baccalà and monk’s beard. The long-fermented focaccia, with onions, black olives, and anchovies is otherworldy.  " - elizabeth de filippo jones

one man show running the restaurant! food was delicious with an interesting mix of flavours. the baccala was especially smooth and velvety. just bear in mind since there’s only one person here, manage your expectation esp about the speed of the service. but other than that it was a 5/5 experience

Lovely and professional place, our favorite bistro in this neighborhood! Fabulous food and wine experience. The menu changes by the seasons so you can always find something new and interesting.

This is that “locals know” kind of place you’ve been looking for. It was personal, dedicated, comfortable, quaint, and superb, and I couldn’t possibly rate it higher. It is a 1-man chef, waiter, and front of house - whatsapp him for a reso. Get the cod!

Short summary: Highly recommend - book your table in advance! Long summary: The place is super cozy and has space for around 10 people only! The owner is so passionate about the food and wine selection! We had an amazing evening with great - fresh food and the price value is incredible fair! Enjoy!

Botoi was recommended to us as visitors to Milan. What a special treat! We enjoyed our meals very much, the novel flavours enhanced by the obvious joy that the chef took in answering our questions. It wasn't very busy when we arrived, and in spite of being a one man show we never felt rushed or ignored. I hope to go back again someday and strongly recommend others try this one of a kind gem.

Small and cozy restaurant. The chef/owner is very friendly and passionate. We tried a selection of dishes and they were all tasty. The prices are reasonable. Try it out if you are around it’s worth it.
