"Bottega Fiorentina is a fixture of the Coolidge Corner neighborhood in Brookline, known for its casual Italian dining and retail shop. Opened in 1994 by Andrea Ferrini, it offers a range of Italian dishes prepared in the style of Florence, Italy. The restaurant has become a neighborhood institution, known for its al dente pasta, sandwiches, risotto, rabbit, osso bucco, lamb shank, and a signature sauce named Fedora. It has received recognition such as the Best of Boston award in 2017 for Best Neighborhood Restaurant. Bottega Fiorentina also makes focaccia and gnudi, and offers desserts like tiramisu and cannoli. It is located near the Boston Marathon route, making it a popular spot for carbo-loading." - Dana Hatic

This neighborhood pasta shop is a hidden gem, serving up homemade pasta with rich, flavorful sauces. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make every meal a delight. Perfect for a comforting, authentic Italian experience. One of my absolute favorites during my college days in Boston.

Google
This is a wonderful experience, the orders are made really quickly, and it’s the best choice to stop by if you’re in a rush. Thanks, for the beautiful food!

Google
Yum! Big portions, enough for 2 meals or to share. Quick order and pick-up at the counter.

$15 roast beef panini with slightest slice of meet on the white soft supermarket bread… that’s beyond my understanding Italian by name only

5 years ago this was my favorite restaurant in greater Boston. My (now) wife and I used to live nearby and would visit 1-2 times a week (or more). We’ve since moved, and after years I was in the area visiting some family and wanted my kids to experience a place that played such a huge part in their parents relationship. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. This place is nothing like it used to be. The new owners ripped out its soul with the renovations. And, what used to be the best Italian food in the city is now premade, cold cookie cutter stuff. Gone are the daily menus, that fresh Italian grandma goodness, the signed photos of the florintina teams of the 80s and all old world charm. The only thing left is the name. What a shame

I’ve been coming here on and off for the past 5+ years. Honestly. I like their price and how they cook their food. However, the quality and the freshness of the food they serve to you vary A LOT, depending on who is giving the food to you that day. The best food I got served here was when the owner was present in the store. I was given the freshest soft bread that day compared to all the other dates I visited here. The Noodles were just melting in my mouth. That was a special day. I very often think about this thing with any restaurant. Am I getting discriminated or is it all in my head? Or am I the one who is discriminating? I would really like to know myself too. To really be fair to myself and the restaurant, I should give the same restaurant a visit at least 10 times. And, write down any difference in each visit. Then I would know, who really is at fault. Is it possible that the same worker just had a bad day every day that I visited? Or was my attitude off when I ordered food? Did I come to the store with a wrong attire? Was I being not easy and not clear when ordering a food and perhaps that made the receptionist not happy. All that stuff, I have to think about. Was it me? Or the store? I wish there was a machine that can say who’s at fault. If the machine says that it was me, I can work on how I think. If the machine says it was the store, they can fix theirs. How helpful would that machine have been?

Lovely Italian place with make your own pasta. We tried the Fedora sauce with Fettuccine and loved it. Also the Tiramisu is one of the best ones we’ve had and is a must have from there!

Maya Gough

Google
I really like the food, I got the fettuccine Andrea. The service was quick and the atmosphere was quaint and calm. They appeared to make the food fresh and my meal was a type of sauce I had never had but that really suited my taste. It wasn't until I got to the bottom of my plate that I found two pieces of hard melted plastic. Unfortunately I only noticed after acidentally wrapping them in a bite of fettuccine and taking a bite. So I did have to spit out my food into a napkin. After the first one I wasn't sure what to think to so I took another bite and there was the second piece of plastic. At that point I thought "better stop eating, who knows how many are in there". I really wish things had gone better, since the pasta was actually very good, which is why it is 3 stars and not 1 .

Yelp
As a really nice treat I bought the bolognese and added fresh mozzarella. I was pleasantly surprised with how good this whole experience was! From the genuine man behind the counter, clean and simple atmosphere with good music, plus the food was amazing! definitely looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Seeking shelter from the rain, I found myself at Bottega Fiorentina in Brookline, where I decided to try their decaf latte. While the latte was somewhat watery for my taste, the overall ambiance of the café more than made up for it. The place has a genuinely inviting vibe, perfect for a cozy respite on a rainy day. Although I noticed my table could have used a bit more attention in the cleanliness department, the café's selection of local artisan goods was impressive, showcasing a variety of unique items that caught my eye. In essence, Bottega Fiorentina offers a charming atmosphere for anyone looking to enjoy a coffee break while exploring local craftsmanship. Despite a minor hiccup with the beverage and table cleanliness, the café's warm environment and excellent assortment of artisan products make it a noteworthy stop in Brookline.

Nicole L.

Yelp
This is an authentic Italian market. I once ordered something that had unlabeled mushrooms in it (I'm allergic), but I went back and tried the pear walnut salad which was fine. My husband got the meatball sub. I'd go back to get Italian goods but maybe not the prepared food.

Alex B.

Yelp
I give this institution a full 5-star review! Considering what you pay (it's cheap) you get an authentic, homemade, perfect pasta (cooked al dente perfectly), fresh sauces, a pick of fresh salads (made with really good produce), and much more. The place is clean and quiet and the service is polite & quick. The real sweetener is of course the deserts (too many to mention) and snacks. They also sell authentic Italian groceries. Touche' to the proprietor!

Kevin W.

Yelp
The food was ok here, the meatballs were a bit plain, the pomodoro sauce a bit salty and the lobster ravioli rather unfilling. The shop itself is very cute and people were constantly coming in for pickup orders. I didn't have the best experience during my visit but I think I would come back to try a different menu item. Would give it a 3.5 star.

Sarah Y.

Yelp
I live around the area and I've always wanted to visit but never really got the chance to until now. I received a $10 giftcard from Nift for Bottega which was the only reason why I went. I went on a Friday at around 6pm and it was pretty empty. I was the only person there and ordered takeout but they did have a lot of delivery orders. I ordered a build your own pasta with fettuccine and the bottega sauce. I also ordered the tiramisu. The cashier didn't really know how to use the giftcard which was not a big deal because that happens a lot at other businesses. It took around 11 minutes for the pasta to come out so definitely a fast casual place. Not a lot of seating either so expect to do takeout or don't come with a group. The pasta was bland. I thought the sauce was nothing special- it tasted like alfredo sauce. The tiramisu was disappointing as well. The bottom half was drenched. Overall, I don't think I would come again unless I had a giftcard.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for the longest time and am so glad I was able to stop by to try it. It's a convenient location on Harvard Ave in Brookline, right near Coolidge Corner. I wanted to try one of their pastas but was looking for something a little lighter, so I ended up ordering Spinach, Zucchini, Asiago cheese sfogliatella, and a piece of triple chocolate cake. The sfogliatella was nicely toasted and flakey and flavorful. There was good texture from the vegetables and it was very easy to cut into without breaking into pieces. The chocolate cake was rich, not too dense, and the frosting added a nice touch of sweetness to the cake. This place sells goods as a market, but there are a few tables where you can dine in and eat your food. Each day of the week they have specialty items, so I will be back on the day I can get my bechamel lasagna.

Eunice Y.

Yelp
my friend and i ordered the chicken parmigiana and a build your own of fettucine alfredo with chicken. both were not the worst thing ever, but maybe not the best we've ever had either in terms of our taste. the pomodoro for the chicken parmigiana was kind of acidic and sour and the alfredo was a very dry blandish sauce (not creamy). regardless we enjoyed our meal but probably wouldn't come again over trying some other pasta place

Mona A.

Yelp
Great for a quick and reasonably priced breakfast! I got a delicious frittata and a cappuccino made with care for less than $10. They included a free little biscotti in my bag, which was a nice surprise. Cute outdoor seating to watch the world go by in Coolidge Corner. Skip Starbucks, go to Bottega instead.

María Verónica R.

Yelp
Ordered carbonara and my pasta tasted like butter pasta, I left this as a note through the Uber Eats app and the restaurant replied, "how come carbonara taste like butter if there is no butter in it. you definitely should check your taste buds." I copy and pasted that. I LAUGHED from how shocked I was! Just added an attachment so you can see it for yourself! Terrible food and now I have to say terrible staff... not worth it at all! Shout out to UberEats for being so nice and patient through the process...

Joseph K.

Yelp
I can only speak for the food itself. I just ordered it from postmates and it was....underwhelming. The bruschetta which I ate before I took a picture of it was okay. The bread was barely toasted and couldn't taste any garlic with only a light drizzle of olive oil. But it was still better than the lasagna pictured below. I paid 12$ for something that is as big as the bread of my 3$ bruschetta. My main issue is with the portion size which is why I am doing 4/5 stars, in a more perfect world I would put a 3.5 but I will round up. The lasagna itself was cooked well, very meaty with a good proportion of marinara sauce. It was lacking on the cheese. Overall, while it wasn't bad, I was underwhelmed for its price. I might be interested visiting the actual restaurant front, but I won't be ordering from it again anytime soon.

Metropolitan O.

Yelp
Carbonara was fire, and it isn't bacon which is lit. I like their bread and cannolis too. Always friendly staff and there's a nice neighborhood atmosphere. Just bring back the fat statue. The decor is nice but looks too modern. Bring back the fat chef statue, that was gas.

Michelle T.

Yelp
We were trying to get into Zaftigs, but there was an hour wait and we had other plans, so we decided to grab lunch here instead. I went with their pasta of the day, which was a Gorgonzola Fettucine, and it was just OK. There was nothing special about it and I kind of wished I had gone with a sandwich instead. X had their Roast Beef Sandwich and it was really good. The bread was super soft and it was a huge portion. I think if you're coming to Bottega, get a sandwich instead because the in-laws loved their sandwich as well.

Dominique G.

Yelp
The food tastes awesome, the prices are reasonable, and the employees are friendly and helpful. They also have a lot of Italian grocery items for sale.

Daniel L.

Yelp
It's fine. My biggest issue was the prosciutto di parma was impotent, and the bread was not very good, not to mention the amount of mozzarella and prosciutto was left wanting. As for the pasta, while it was a decent sized portion, the fedora sauce did not taste creamy at all and there was only a hint of garlic, it tasted like a regular marinara (the rosemary was well proportioned though).

Verna G.

Yelp
If you are Italian DON'T Eat here. Just got what they call a chicken parm sub. I can't even eat it. Huge chunks of over cooked dry chicken. Terrible!

Ed Y.

Yelp
My go to spot for a fresh Italian sub, every ingredient cut to order in front of you. Makes a big difference in the flavor. Absolutely delicious. Their pasta dishes, arancini, profiteroles and cannolis are to die for. Cannolis are $1 each Tues and Thurs. Service is fast and friendly. Highly recommended.

Ness S.

Yelp
I have only had the cannoli here so can't comment much on the food. The cannoli was pretty good -- nothing to write home about -- but solid. The restaurant itself has nice areas to sit and some benches outside (not owned by the restaurant I don't think) which are quite convenient in the Covid era.

Danielle - A Pseudonym B.

Yelp
Good stuff. I recommend this place for pasta if you want to build your own pasta and you don't want it to just taste like the typical pizza place pasta. I got the pomodoro and they also seemed to have added a bruschetta which I got which was lovely. The only recommendation I would have is I wish they would sell a small side salad for about $5 or $6 to add to the menu. I recommend!

Rick W.

Yelp
This place is disappointing about 80% of the time. I can't really see a reason to ever go back there again. I have had some really good dishes there, but they are horribly inconsistent, and many times it just feels like a waste of money. I haven't been there a ton, but enough times over the years to know it has potential to be good but typically it is bland. They really struggle to be consistent with their creamy sauces like carbonara and alfredo. A few times it has been really good...but those were the exception. To be fair, most of the things on their menu I have never had, and sadly, probably never will. It is possible that they have some really good items... My honest feeling is that the employees take no pride in the quality of their food. They don't care if it is good or not. I've never seen anyone of them look like they want to be there...and that apathy is apparent in the food.

Erika G.

Yelp
Giving 3 stars for the sole reason that my cannoli was great, super crunchy shell. Unfortunately my order was overly salty, and the (cheese-less BTW) lasagna was smaller in length than a plastic fork, literally the size of my fist. (See picture) Won't be coming back here, but glad I got complimentary bread with my order, at least...

Sophia X.

Yelp
I built my own bowl and ordered Linguine with Bolognese sauce, a meatball, and fresh mozzarella. For $15, it was pretty average. Pasta was kind of bland, and the mozzarella add-on wasn't really worth the extra $2 something. The meatball saved the day, and was well seasoned and tasty.

Laura D.

Yelp
3.5/5 One party inside around 6PM on a Saturday. Pros: -Fair amount of dessert options Cons: -$5 credit card minimum -Limited seating inside (one long picnic table) -- Tiramisu ($3.99) The portion I received was super soggy--essentially ladyfingers in a pool of coffee-flavored cream. There's no way they could have served it on a plate if I was eating in (would have to have been a bowl). It seems like they may have put in too much coffee and it killed the consistency. That said, the flavor was actually good! It was rich, buttery, and not overly sweet. I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but if I was there I'd consider getting it again... Butter Cookies (~$1/each?) 2 long butter cookies (one side dipped in chocolate/sprinkles) filled with cherry(?) jam inside. I enjoyed the cherry more than I thought I would. Decent cookie!

Deb S.

Yelp
This little place has very delicious food- also gluten free pasta and that is not easy to satisfy. I never have a salad or pasta that I don't love there- It is a small Italian place that services lovely food with kind people.

Sherri Q.

Yelp
My dearest friends brought me a platter of chicken parm and lasagna yesterday since I just had a knee replacement and not going out for awhile. My friend and I just tried the chicken parm and we had to throw the whole platter away. The chicken was not only burnt but hard as a cardboard. We just tried the lasagna, and well not good at all. So disappointing and so sad that my friends paid $$ for this.

Ellie W.

Yelp
I found this on a hangry whim while ambling through Coolidge in a blur -- pretty sure all I could think about was carbs, and voila! Bottega, the savior of the day! Nothing here is particularly spectacular -- that is, except the TRUFFLE PASTA. Most of the pasta here is good, but when I tell you the truffle pasta with prosciutto here is phenomenal, you better believe it. And an easy $9 dish to boot ;).

Jocelyn L.

Yelp
Their food has zero flavor. The to go portions were very small. I wouldn't go here again.

Sarah C.

Yelp
We came here to get take out food. The food was ok but disappointed in the portions. We got eggplant parm - it was a very small portion served with no pasta , yet on the menu the chicken parm was.

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Cold gnocchi, cold sauce, and not spicy. I've never heard of gnocchi being served cold, and when I order something with hot peppers next to it on the menu, I expect it to have at least some kick to it. Not sure what we waited for since everything was cold anyway. Felt awkward sitting there, like the guy behind the counter wanted us to leave.

Kim M.

Yelp
Writing 15 minutes after delivery. Ordered via Yelp (literally Yelp still has delivering tracking going despite it being delivered). The Boy found a hair in his Italian. Even prior to that though, at first bite we found the sandwiches average at best. Honestly below average given that this came from an Italian restaurant. What did it to me is that both of our sandwiches were warm. It's a cold cut deli sandwich shouldn't be served warm. I've never had their pasta but maybe they should stick to that. Definitely hesitant to try it though because of this hair situation.

Frank C.

Yelp
Cheap Italian food with a good taste, however, the shop is too small for dine in, and the staffers work there wasn't really helpful.

Curtis H.

Yelp
Everything seemed very appealing to look at when I walked in at first, and I think I like the concept of the business model, but my penne with pesto and shrimp was far less flavorful than the most basic version of the dish I could have made at home. Watery pasta with bland pesto and a paltry addition of a few small shrimp that came nowhere near justifying the $4 add-on cost. Once I found myself seated at a grungy table, out about $20 with a small bowl of tasteless food, I regretted my decision to get a quick dinner here. Staff seemed demoralized and exhausted - I felt badly for them. Maybe it was an off day or I made a bad chance for what to order, but I don't think I'll risk trying it again.

Phil C.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood for dinner one night alone (no, no, it's okay, I don't need your pity) and saw the quaint nature, along with the pasta special, of this place. Sometimes, the allure of pasta and a good deal are just too irresistible for me. I went for the pasta Andrea and thought it was not only good for the price, but also nicely cooked. The pasta was al dente, and there wasn't too much sauce. The prosciutto was a good combination with flavorful mushroom, peas, and cream. Another time I went for another non-tomato sauce with the carbonara and it was decent. The sauce wasn't overloaded with cream (it shouldn't have cream anyway, as many purists have asserted) but it had a solid amount of cheese. There's some seating but if it gets crowded, you might have to wait. Interestingly, there are picnic tables inside. As for the price, if you come here on Sundays or Wednesdays, you can get the above (along with many others) for $4.99, which is a fine deal. Great for the kids.

David L.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite places. New ownership, and now there's no more real Italian bread. The prices have gone up and I just had a chicken Parm that was made with processed chicken. Too bad. This was such a jam.

Anna Y.

Yelp
The salad was really disappointing: a heap of vinegary from artichokes, tomatoes and mushrooms from a can, plus a little bit of salad greens, plus more vinegar. All in all it was drinking from a bottle of vinegar. The bread that they serve with food and for sandwiches is really bland. They have this puffy spinach pastry that is light and airy, but there is so little filling that overall it just tastes like neutral dough. No cheese, or not enough of it. Just feels like they're cutting corners with everything.

Sheryl D.

Yelp
Ordered the Italiano sub & honestly was the worst I've ever had. There were 2 slices of flavorless meat in the stale bun... So disappointed

bonita n.

Yelp
Our takeout sandwiches were freshly made and delicious. My mortadella was panini style, the melanzane eggplant sandwiches were sub style.

Anna K.

Yelp
I have been coming here since I was a kid. It is a delicious local restaurant that is very affordable and is very authentic Italian food. It's not a place meant to be flashy by any means. There isn't a ton of seating inside so we usually take it to go. Also the portions are extremely generous. In response to the shutdown, they decided to give free pasta lunches to federal employees and that's just another reason you gotta love them.

Eduardo M.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience in this place. Their food is amazing, fresh and aways test with and Original Italian Flavor. The products they have in the shelfs are outstanding and my wife and I love to cook with the products they have in there. Im a regular costumer and supper recommend this place...

Kim C.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years and really enjoy the simple basic sauces that are uncomplicated and never over salted or over seasoned. The sauces are made with just a few ingredients, they never have meatballs (so don't ask), and they go over your choice of pasta. We've also gotten the lasagna and salad before and they are good too but the pastas on the main menu are definitely what keeps us coming back. You can't beat $4.99 pasta Wednesdays and Sundays either. Some of our favorites are the Fettucine Andrea, Spaghetti Bolognese, Penne Fedora, Cacio e Pepe, Michelangelo. The changing focaccia menu and other savory baked goodies on the side can never go wrong either. Also the roast beef sandwich is excellent. Lots of veggies, classic deli sandwich, it just always tastes good and it's made the same every time. I always leave here feeling good about what I ate, never too heavy like full of salt and oil. The guys that work here are really chill. I like the cute, no frills self seating dining area with a really friendly atmosphere. One criticism is that there's no bathroom here. Other than that, food, service, ambiance all great.

Saquib B.

Yelp
Very bad quality food and service. Sandwiches are terrible, paninis are cold and taste like old food. I won't recommend this place even if famished.

Emma B.

Yelp
Got the pork loin and the stuffed peppers; the pork was as dry as cardboard and the peppers had not had the centers taken out of them. Everything was cold. Also, the peppers were supposed to have sausage and it did not; it was just peppers with rice. Will never be ordering from here again.

Olivia W.

Yelp
This is a cute, authentic Italian place in the heart of Coolidge Corner. The minute you walk in you're bombarded by the amount of food choices and daily specials - it literally took me 15 minutes to choose what I wanted. I liked the restaurant, but there's definitely not enough room to eat-in during prime lunch or dinner times. Everything is prepped in advance so either eating-in or taking it to-go is quick, and they have a few select desserts that are delicious (the limoncello cake is my favorite). The only thing I had to learn is that they serve the pasta true Italian-style, with very little sauce. Even though it's delicious that way, I prefer the American amount of sauce so I have to ask for extra. Other than that, no complaints, I can't wait to go again!

Chelsea C.

Yelp
One thing that I heard about this place was that they have $5 pasta on Tuesdays (could be getting the day wrong). I used to live near here so I figured, why not try it out? Honestly, I can't remember which pasta I ordered but it was pretty good! Especially for the value. Seating in here is a nightmare/limited so be prepared for it to be packed/eat outside if you can!

J B.

Yelp
This place is such a wonderful place to get really delicious pasta. I used the promo code for DoorDash and got free delivery and it was here in less than 30 minutes. The pasta is always really fresh -- I love the Bolognese. The real showstopper is the tortellini en brodo -- it's absolutely delicious and taste way more like it should be $15 and not six! This place really kicks ass. If you want spaghetti go nowhere else.

Jane L.

Yelp
It's one of the restaurants that it is good/decent but nothing extremely attracting enough to go back for me. The portion of the food is quite small, as compared to what you pay. $13 for a linguine cream shrimp (small size) pasta dish was not satisfying. The sauce was not enough either. I am glad that I tried this place though.

Sangavi V.

Yelp
I have had every single thing from the menu, tasty bread and pasta, you cannot go wrong with anything you choose in this place. The bread is sooo good, I'd probably live on it This one is a quaint little place in Coolidge corner(literally in a corner), with only a few tables and not much decor; but has an authentic vibe to it. Pasta plates are priced between $8-$12, decent portions and super delicious, doesn't get better than this in Boston/Brookline. I have now given up on those fancy Italian places on Newbury street that serve terribly tiny portions of pasta for ridiculous prices and go here instead for a satisfying meal.

Myra H.

Yelp
This is a small family owned place and it's the best Italian food I've had in a while. I had gluten free pasta with the arrabbiata sauce and both were incredible. One thing to note is that the seating is pretty limited. You order at the counter and there is seating scattered throughout the shop for 10-15 people. If you have a large party you probably want to go for their take out or catering options. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. I would definitely come back.

K R.

Yelp
Really great food and service for a small place! Been driving buy them for years, but never went in. Im glad I did and will be coming back!!!
