Burgundy wine route : cellar secrets found by experts

"The other four wines on this list are small-production cuvées that are so typical of Burgundy. This Beaune premier cru blend, by contrast, typically checks in at around 50,000 bottles. The fact that it derives from superbly situated vineyards around the town of Beaune, that Bouchard Père et Fils is in the process of organic certification and that the low yields of the 2020 vintage have lent it exceptional depth and character mean that it’s a fine ambassador for Burgundy and a reminder that very good wine needn’t be out of reach. The wine is medium rich and deeply layered with cherries, sweet berries, rose petals, spice and the robust favors for a rack of lamb in herb crust." - Le Guide MICHELIN

Excelente wines and Clement receive me very well... It's a big one from borgondy, but have soul and make good wines, especially about Domaine wines

Large scale operation. You will find your Gem here but may take a while.

Extremely well received by Clement for our tasting at Bouchard Père et Fils. He is extremely knowledgeable and it was a real pleasure to taste The Winery's range with him along to explain. Clean glasses, generous servings and a good variety of Burgundy wines to try. Great wine, good tasting experience and in a very well setup wine shop. Highly recommend!

Beautiful castle and cellars. There was a slight mix up where we were able to schedule our tasting on a Holiday, and when Clement learned that we were unable to come on another day, he still received us and gave a fantastic tour. A must see if you visit Beaune!

We had the top tour - €398 for 2 adults. Was pretty focussed on the history and not so much on the winemaking or the wine. Tasting amounts were very small. We had better and much cheaper tours of chateaus in and around Bearne

Incredible history. Huge, prestigious wine company with their own vineyards. Rest of group no shows so I had personal tour of cellar with guide. Tasting fee + tour 25 euro but probably fair with premiere cru tasting.

We booked our tasting tour through our hotel for 4 person (pre-paid). We were at max 10 minutes late to our reservation. There were nobody in the reception. We tried calling them, nobody answered. We tried to ring the bell, looked inside, there was no one and no message left to inform visitors. We waited and waited then saw people who were inside, who were at the end of their tasting tour. We talked with the lady who was responsible. Her behavior was unbelievably rude. She said you were late I’ve waited 15-20 mins (which is not true) then started. She said if this was a train we would have miss our train. We were late that’s OK, but we’ve waited for 45 mins to understand what’s going on, she didn’t even wait 10 mins for us, she didn’t even try to call and inform, she didn’t offer any compensation etc. In the end, 10 people who were late for 10 mins couldn’t join the tour.

One of my favorite wineries in Burgundy. Their Chateau, with its distinctive roof that can be seen all over Beaune, their two rampart towers with wine cellar beneath, and their state of the art winery just north of town, are without equal. The people are very nice and professional. The wines range from very good to unbeliveably outstanding. A must visit for the astute wine drinker.

Yelp
Definitely worth visiting. The Buchard Pere and Fils tour takes you down to their cellar within the 400 year old fortress and you navigate through the maze that is now all stored with wine. You also step into the private cellar of the Henriot family who now owns Buchard and they have wine from the 1800s! It's a short tour for about 15 Euros plus a taste of six different wines (don't worry, you won't get drunk as the portion is pretty minuscule). The explanation is great and it's definitely better to go with a buddy because they make you choose between different wine and having a buddy would allow you to taste it all.

Yelp
Again, the White Burgundies of France do not disappoint. The Beaune du Chateau Premiere Cru definitely has the complexity of many of the wines of this region but is a lot more mellow/subtle. It's also one of the more affordable choices for the area, though Bouchard does make a series of higher end, Grand Cru wines. 4.25

Yelp
This is a review about wine tour through Bouchard and not the wines. The tour was good - very informative and fun to walk through the wine cellars. You probably should schedule in advance since the tours are given at only certain times (I think 2 tours in English most days). After the tour there is a wine tasting in the main room, with a selection of reds and whites. I think that the tour was about 10 Euro. One of the best wine tours I've been on. Highly recommended. My only complaint is that like at most Napa wineries, if you buy a bottle of wine they should deduct the tour cost from the bottle of wine.
