11 Restaurants Worth The Drive From Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Les Têtes de Cochon is a butcher, artisan grocery store and restaurant in the heart of Sainte-Adèle. The restaurant serves Quebec beef, generous charcuterie platters and sweet, sweet desserts in a lively pub-like atmosphere. The menu also includes signature appetizers like house-made cold-smoked salmon, while oysters paired with private import wines are worthy of attention. The venue also features an outdoor heated terrasse." - Allison Van Rassel, Ashley Joseph

Food was awesome, and the staff was fantastic. It was our first time there. We had our holiday party after the holiday. I had the blood sausages and they were delicious. The appetizers were awesome also!

A fantastic place . If you're in the area and appreciate good food you should not miss this place. Very friendly and informed staff. Meat quality is at it's finest ! We had the blood pudding witch was perfectly prepared and accompanied perfectly. The ribs were magical . If you're a foodie or actually have the slightest idea what good food is,I strongly suggest it .

I have traveled to many countries and eaten in many restaurants, but this is by far the best place I have ever dined at. Every time there are new things to try and it's the best I've ever had. Not only the food, but the service is always beyond excellent. It's truly a pleasure to spend an evening there .

I've been here twice and I love your food. Quality, portion, taste, ideas everything is amazing. I've tried the burger which is the best burger I've ever tried in my life so far and some appetizers. I will definitely come back!

Had a very nice saturday lunch. Arrived at 1pm, restaurant had a couple of occupied tables buy no need to reserve a table, although it's not a big place. Started off with a butternut squash, maple and IPA beer soup which was delightful, keeping the right consistency and texture. House bread ia super moist and soft, with a great crust. Up next the biaon carpaccio which was tender and flavorful, especially when topped off with fresh pepper by the courtesy of the waitress. For a main course, ordered the smoked meat sandwitch, which had a decent amoht of meat in and falvoured with the right amounts of muatard and relish. French frize was great and crispy as well. For a desert, we enjoyed the lava cake with the home made bluberry ice cream. We had to drag ourselves back to the car, happy and full.

Service was so bad that it made my fiance and I very uncomfortable. Felt like we weren't welcomed there. The food was good and wine/beer selection good.

Yelp
Very aesthetically pleasing, reasonably priced restaurant and butcher shop. Great service. Good beverage selection. We certainly were in for a treat when we stumbled upon this gem! It has a nice patio, which was closed due to cold weather, that we are looking forward to visiting next spring!

Yelp
Very nice place in St-Adèle! First snow of the year! We had a great evening a great dinner. You can't go there without having ribs. Parking is a bit challenging (ended-up on the street), but it's worth the detour. If you like what you ate, stop by their butchery section and bring back some meat!

Yelp
My husband and I dined here for our 15th year anniversary as a couple. Everything was perfect! The service was very pleasant, both waiters were helpful and agreeable. The food was excellent; my husband had the rib platter, and I, the beef and salmon tartar, and we both shared scallops and oysters as starters. And as it was Thursday, we had the chance of enjoying live music with Mr Evans who had an excellent range of music which were sung perfectly.

Yelp
I'll preface this review with the following: 1) While everything looked and smelled great, I cannot comment on the quality of the food, we did not receive any. The following review is based solely on service. 2) My wife and I are not fluent in French. My wife knows enough to muddle through most transactions, but in general, we politely ask "do you speak English" (in French, of course) upon entering any establishment. We had a reservation for 8:00pm. We showed up to the restaurant and walked in at 7:55. A server walked up to us and my wife asked her if she spoke English. She responded that she spoke a little bit and explained that their credit card machine was broken, so that we would have to pay cash. No problem, we had plenty of cash. She told us we could choose between a high top table or a lower table. We chose the lower. A couple minutes after we sat down, another couple sat down at the high top. Someone came by and have us menus and water. For the next 25 minutes, we watched the server serve everyone but us. She took the order of the high top table that sat after us, she brought others their food. We deciphered the menu and knew what we wanted to order and we sat, and we waited. My wife made eye contact with the server. She continued to ignore our table. Eventually we decided to leave. The server said nothing as we walked past. I can honestly say that I've never been completely ignored in that manner in any restaurant, in any country. If this had been my only experience with a restaurant in Quebec I probably would have left, never to return. I can only surmise that the server identified us as tourists who didn't speak French and did not care whether or not we dined at the Restaurant. I hope that my experience was an abberation, but I'd caution anyone in a similar situation to choose another restaurant. We ended up having an absolutely wonderful meal at another restaurant around the corner that we had frequented earlier in the week

Yelp
Very nice selection of dishes on the menu. The bbq ribs were tender and smoky, and the grilled scallops with crab risotto was nicely executed with its subtle flavors. I preferred the red sangria over the white sangria but overall I had a wonderful meal. Service was on point and courteous. A great choice if you are in the area.

Yelp
True gem. Delicious food, professional yet friendly service and private wine selection. Love the little market secretion. A must in the area, definitely worth a stop.

Yelp
Ate here with friends at the start to a long weekend in the Laurentians to see the fall colours. Yes, it's partly a butcher shop and partly a restaurant, so the decor is not exactly sophisticated, plus it's on the side of the 117, but it is well worth a stop on your way up north. I had a green salad that was a fresh and tasty mesclun with a simple dressing, to start. Others in our party had Mac and cheese and charcuterie, which they appreciated. My beloved had the beef tartare and I had the onglet. The meat was really delicious and tender. I found the tartare nicely spiced (though my beloved found it a little over-spiced). The onglet was melt-in-your-mouth tender, cooked rare (European-style rare) and served with a delicious reduction sauce and fries. The fries were very good also. For dessert, we tried the crème brûlée and the fondant au Chocolat. I have never tasted one quite so light. It was almost a soufflé and not too sweet. The. Crème brûlée was the perfect temperature with a sheet of caramel on top, just as it should be. We washed it all down with a half litre bottle of Crianza, which was a perfect red meat accompaniment. Choices of wine in half bottles and by the glass were sufficient, which is handy when you're getting behind the wheel again. Portions were also European-style however, so it was quite expensive by comparison to other restaurants. But it was nice to leave the table without feeling too stuffed, and I'd go back again simply because I haven't had such tasty meat in a long, long time. A note on service, just because I see others were dissatisfied. It was unexceptional but nothing to complain about. If meat is your thing, you won't regret trying Les Têtes de Cochon.

Yelp
The only reason I'm rating this restaurant and butcher shop 4 instead of 5 is because they only have French menus. Not sure if that changes during "tourist" season. My meal was excellent - from a perfectly mixed negroni to inventive in-house and local charcuterie to a light lobster linguine to an over the top Pouding Chomeur for dessert. Everything was local, felt very authentic...would be a shame for non-French speaking diners to miss out simply because of a language gap. Also, great wine list, very friendly sommelier, staff and they, unprompted, offered to make burgers/grilled cheese or pasta for the kids.

Yelp
Terrific organically sourced menu. We had the daily specials of lamb and beef bavette (flank/skirt) steak which were excellent along with fresh grilled vegetables. We also had excellent desserts and cappuccinos in a contemporary rustic setting in the heart of the Laurentians. Attentive and friendly service.

Yelp
Amazing fresh meats, local products and ingredients. We stop by here for dinner every year on our way down after skiing at Tremblant. The food and service is always top notch. My only request is to have English Menus, please! The waiter has to translate from French every time

Yelp
Great place to stop on your way back from skiing in the Laurentians. It's a restaurant that doubles as a high end butcher counter, so the meat they use in their dishes is of excellent quality. They also have a nice selection of local beers.

Yelp
We really liked this restaurant. There was awesome quality meat which was cooked perfectly, the portions were of a right size and the service was great. We will definitely go back! There is also a butcher counter for organic/ local meat to take home - original concept!

Yelp
The duck confit was worth waiting for...but the service was less than attentive. We arrived at 6pm and did not finish until 9:30pm. Waited a longtime for water then drinks and our meal... The wait staff mentioned a new chef in the kitchen. Good concept, needs better execution.

Yelp
Took the family to the area for 1 day & was looking for a good dinner. searched my iphone & this place came up with a few good reviews. The place is fairly new & the decor was very appealing, especially the outdoor set up. The staff was very nice & knowledgeable from recommending the wine & food. They have a nice counter you can walk through to look at the products & buy specialty items to take home, which is always nice to discover. The plates were well presented & the food was good.

Yelp
We are so happy we stopped here for brunch on our way home from skiing in Mont Tremblant. The Sunday breakfast menu was fresh, refined and unpretentious. The staff was very friendly, professional and accommodating. Even with two small children, they went out of their way to please. I really liked the interior design and they appeared to have a good wine selection too. Everyone in our group agreed this was a total hit! Highly recommend and we will absolutely stop here again whenever in Sainte Adele.
