Unique French bistro; few tables, réservations only; so book far in advance. Menu is straight forward, and real Lyonnaisse. From Pates, Boudin Noir, till superb formate Saint Marcellin. The beaujolais house wine is full of red fruit, fresh; also ask for a glass of champenoise , that can easily compete with Champagne. A unique experience in Amsterdam, which is being confronted with a destructive policy of the municipal council..! Last but not least prices are very reasonable. No french restaurant can compete with O’Bistro or this little gem.

Since the owner is also the only chef, sommelier and waiter, things are done slightly differently at this restaurant. The menu is written by hand and is simple and short. It consists mainly of classic Lyonaisse dishes, all of them cooked perfectly. Vegetarian options are limited at best. The atmosphere is homely and the walls are covered with photos and all sorts of cooking utensils. The owner was very kind and attentive despite her many tasks. Chances are you won't be able to get a seat without a reservation.

Lets begin by saying this is not a 'normal' restaurant. You cannot just walk in and expect to get a meal. You make a reservation by phone, and only by phone. But then, the food.. delicious Lyonais, served by the marvelous Hanneke who does *everything* herself. That includes making the food, serving the food, and also the drinks. Everything is made with pure passion. She is a wonderful host, that also expects you to behave like a wonderful guest. Important note: being picky is not a virtue here, as there are always only 2 options per course, and no changes are made to the menu. Eten wat de pot schaft! Vegetarians be warned, alergic people be warned, and also picky eaters or people who like their meat well-done be warned. That is not done here! If you can abide by these rules, it is perhaps the best food the city has to offer. Bon appetit!

I've lived around the corner for 20 years, but have never eaten there. For 20 years, they've had a sign saying some form of 'we do not welcome vegetarians' - I get the impression they just really dislike the idea of not eating animals. I've been tempted for years to put up a note saying that there are friendly vegetarians who can cook just around the corner in case someone goes in a group and gets caught out...

Amazing one woman show with solid Lyonnaise bouchon fair. Be sure to make a reservation by phone and bring cash.

Lovely lady who cooks with passion and you have to make a reservation cause she does it all by herself.

Door says reservations only. Restaurant was not even one quarter full. Definitely not worth the trouble to find

A little taste of Lyon in the city center of Amsterdam !

Showed up with my wife and a friend on her birthday without a reservation (you must book by phone ahead of time, which is totally understandable) and was made to feel by the owner/chef that we had committed a mortal sin. Instead of politely explaining the policy and giving us a phone number to book a future date, which we would have happily done, she berated us in front of the other customers and shooed us out of the restaurant like we had the plague. Will never go back which is a giant shame since the food and environment looked quite "gezellig" as the Dutch say. The restaurant was full so I can only imagine the owner does not need or want new customers. What a shame.
