The Essential Montreal Croissants - Eater Montreal

"The punny Les Co’Pains d'Abord has a thorough selection of cookies, tarts, and viennoiseries, including a spread of croissants. With two locations in the Plateau, and one in Rosemont, it’s a neighbourhood favourite." - Heather Vandenengel, JP Karwacki

I love this cafe! My friends and I always go there to study and it’s the perfect atmosphere. There are large as well as small tables and the food is excellent with a low price. The staff is super nice and helpful and they always have the best music playing

Such wonderful flaky viennoiseries! Even 4pm during the weekday, people are line up for the fresh croissants! The taste is so so so good, the chocolatine is the best so far! ( the maple butter croissant is nice too , but just a bit too sweet )

Good variety of pastries to choose from. Prices are reasonable. Croissants tasted great as well, buttery and flakey

Yelp

Yelp
Location: On Masson. Forget street parking - it's like wining the lottery. The place/ goods: Stopped by for a quick snack and coffee and wasn't disappointed. The place is small and more of a take away place - you'll find lots of pastries and sweet treats but I didn't notice if they had anything else because I was fixated on the chocolate raspberry muffin. It was really quite good and the Chai latté that I ordered was perfect. Service: Very friendly! Price point: Less than $6.

Yelp
Probably the best croissants I have ever had!!! Must try the one with ham and cheese and the one super filled called dejeneur! The coffee is also great :-)

Yelp
Les Co'Pains d'Abord is an awesome bakery located in Vieux Rosemont on Masson St. It's a cozy, inviting space that really feels like a neighbourhood bakery. The staff are welcoming and attentive and the experience here is all-around great. A honey fig bread caught my eye so I picked up a loaf of that for breakfast in the mornings. It was delicious (and very fresh) and when lightly toasted with some butter made for some very good breakfasts. It also was well balanced in that it wasn't overly sweet. I also got a croissant to snack on right there which was also pretty fresh and tasty. It was crispy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside. The prices were competitive with other bakeries in the neighbourhood. If you're in the Rosemont area then this is definitely a good place to come for bread. I'm eager to go back and check out their other menu items.

Yelp
this little bakery is amazing! it opens at 8am on Sunday, which is when we went, but we were waiting with a group of people. you can see customers come specifically for this bakery to open at 8am, which means a lot. i ordered a croissant (freshly baked, amazing and chewy but flaky) with ham meat and cheese. it was really good, and very filling. there were also a basket of pastries from the day before, selling it in a bundle of 3 at a cheaper price, which a lot of people go for as well. i highly recommend getting their croissants and pastries!

Yelp
The freshness croissants in Montreal. The store is hidden in the side street of rue Rachel. The smell of the store make you want to get everything. We had the plain, almond and chocolate croissant. Overall it's a great bakery

Yelp
It was probably one of the best spots I had a cappuccino and chocolate croissant! Friendly staff and good prices. I wish there was one at home near me :(

Yelp
This little bakery makes me feel in Paris. And they serve food on site, as well... I hope I will work my way through all their offered deliciousness... For the time being I go daily to have lunch which must include the "Soupe du Jour" which sells for $2.50, and comes with two slices of fresh multigrain bread with a crunchy crust. After this, you can feel virtuous enough to indulge in one of the many tarts or cakes sold by the slice, that would blow your mind! Specially delicious, crunchy, just perfectly baked pastries: Lunette aux Agrumes, Croissant aux Amandes, Chocolatine. And the maccaroons sell for 0.75 instead of one dollar or more like in other places. The capuccino is also a work of art: made in a transparent glass, in such a way that you have the view of the three colors: colder milk, coffee, and on top of that the foam. A place where you are not going to have any regrets!

Yelp
As others have noted, the spot is cute but also they have a LOT of choices (4 different kinds of baguette...) and everything we tried was great. Very friendly. Espace mignon avec beaucoup des choix, service amiable.

Yelp
Sure, there's a Première Moisson right down the block but you can get that anywhere else in the city. Head for Co Pains D'abord instead for great bread, cheese, and sandwiches. Stopped by here today on my way to the Botanical Gardens to get a sandwich - $3.50 for an amazing Jambon et fromage that I ate underneath the apple trees at the garden. Friendly staff too.

Yelp
Went back a year later. This is still the best in Montreal. Chocolatines aux Amandes: amazing. Abricotine: astounding. Kouign Amman: crazy delicious. Seriously, these are some of the best things we've ever eaten anywhere, ever. Worth a trip.
