The Essential Montreal Croissants - Eater Montreal

"The baguette-lined windows of this neighbourhood bakery have likely lured in many a biker off the adjacent cycle path. The shop does a decent croissant, as well as pains au chocolat, and almond croissants." - Heather Vandenengel, JP Karwacki

The pastries here were fantastic. Cute shop and friendly workers. Tried the almonde and blueberry tart. The almonde was fantastic, not too sweet. The blueberry tart was okay, I wouldn't yet it again. They have a super wide range of options to chose from and reasonable prices. Would eat here again.

Read about them or mtl dot org and planned to make a visit. This little gem 💎 is not hard to find but unexpected for sure. At the entrance itself you get those festive vibes (even if it's not festival time). Open an old door, and you have a fragrance to welcome you. Ambience is lovely, welcoming staff, veriety of breads, croissants, cakes, pastries, pizzas and many more. Tried there croissants, French bread and a coffee - no regret. I'm gonna plan more visits to taste all what they serve and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Wonderful bakery in Plateau Mont Royal. Mom and Pop bakery with amazing pastries handmade and updated seasonally. Almond croissant was amazing as well. Plus the owners were extremely kind and welcoming. Cannot recommend enough!

Such a cute spot this! Went on a snowy day yearning for a croissant, and wasn't disappointed one bit. Their ham and cheese croissant and the chocolatine were both lovely, as was their service. Plus, their tables by the window are a great way to enjoy the falling snow. I'll try and be back soon : )

Very nice bakery. Their croissants with chocolate are super delicious, buttery and flaky. Their french baguette is perfection. I also got a strawberry tart and it was GOOD!!!

A great spot for coffee & Patisserie! Lovely couple running the place and it seems their sandwiches are awesome (didn't get the chance to try it out).

I passed by and went in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! I asked the nice and friendly girl at the counter what her favorite pastry was, and after her recommendation, I got the almond croissant pictured. She was right, it was very flakey and delicious and not too sweet. It quickly became my favorite almond croissant I've had in Plateau yet, it was surprisingly massive too for its price. The quality is all in the food, their place is small but they have a big heart. They also sell cheese, quiche, loafs, buns, desserts, cookies, and more.

Amazing spot. The new owners are fantastic! Everything is homemade and the feel of the place is incredible. It’s a must go to have some fresh pastries, bread, sandwiches and much more; there are so many options. Love this place!!!

Yelp
We found this spot quite a few years ago and make sure we swing by every time we are in Montreal. The bake goods are amazing, no question, but what really sells it is the friendly accommodating staff. We emailed ahead of time to see if they would set aside our favorite pastry, as it often times, sells out before we would get there. We received a quick response saying they'd gladly do so. The day before we arrived, we got another email from them saying that our order would be ready the next morning! It was so nice of them to put that much effort into pleasing one of their customers. And like I stated, their offerings are amazing. Oh, and the pastry we love is the pear and chocolate filled one. Don't miss out on that one! Bon Appetite!

Yelp
Was walking in the neighborhood and got tempted by this lovely little bakery. The space is very small, and maximum 2 people inside right now. There is a huge assortment of baked goods inside, including various types of breads and buns and also pastries and sweets as well. They also offer a counter with some foods such as sandwiches and an egyptian dish (lentils and rice and pasta and onion), and various quiches as well. They also have some pizzas and savoury pastries. The prices seem very reasonable and everything looks fresh. I decided to go with a ham pizza and a spinach pastry. The pizza was less than 5 dollars and the pastry was about 6 dollars (paid by weight). I am not sure if they are able to heat it up (they didn't for me, and I didnt ask). The pizza came with ham, olives, and a LOT of cheese...almost too much, I'd say. Even cold, it was very tasty. The spinach pastry was a little greasy but also delicious. I would definitely return if I'm ever in the neighborhood.

Yelp
My major disappointment with this place is the lack of English, but lucky it is relatively easy to buy a croissant. Sure some of the pastries dont look that amazing but it is one of those places that you need to go by the nose first and than by the taste. I tried only a plain croissant and it was fresh and wonderful. I guess this might become my daily bike stop for some treats on my way to work

Yelp
Basically you can't really go wrong here. The breads are very good. The viennoiseries are wonderful. They might have a little less choice than bigger bakeries, but their baguette is flawless, light and crispy. Too often, I find baguettes too dense and moist and when they shouldn't be. Definitely one of my favourite bread spots in the city.

Yelp
My mother woke up early and brought us back some treats from here for breakfast. Man we loved them so much that we went back the next morning. We really like the almond pastry and the date bar was out of this world. Def worth getting there early to get some of these delicious snacks.

Yelp
Really good stuff! Super buttery. The woman working was kind of cold, but fine. You can tell it was the "real deal" because a local family came in asking for 12 croissants. The date pastry and elephant ears were v rich. Took my friend and i a while to get through them. But worth it!

Yelp
lovely little neighberhood bakery, i had a pastry that looks like a Paris Brest and is probably the closest it gets to the real deal the last one i had in Paris. Will definetely be back to try other things.

Yelp
Perfect little neighborhood bakery. Has everything you need for breakfast (coffee, espresso, etc), a small selection of cheeses and salads, and a surprising variety of breads. Friendly, helpful staff. It's small, so don't sleep too late if you want your choice!

Yelp
Chausson aux Pommes: 11/15 Appearance 3/5 Texture 4/5 Filling 4/5 Chausson: Exceptionally flaky, light, delicate pastry, medium golden color surrounding sweet, smooth textured apple puree filling. Size is medium-large (Clafouti's still owning the title of champion-size) and quite puffy at the outer edge (opposite the fold). (References points: Du Pain et Des Idées, Fauchon, Lenôtre, Ladurée, Poilâne) Croissant: 11/20 Crust 2/5 Interior 3/5 Butter 4/5 Color 2/5 - Appearance wise, the croissant could use some improvement, being quite flat and unbrowned. The texture was also unremarkable, not very crispy exterior nor downy-soft inside, but the buttery flavor & aroma is actually better than most. (Reference points: Pierre Hermé, Fauchon). The shop also sells cheeses, terrines, sandwiches, gaufres, ice-cream... a fair amount of stuff not normally found neighbourhood boulangeries. All the viennoiseries (pastries) are visible from the front window and look self-seve from inside the store. There are bags near the corner and tongs on top of the display case, although during quiet times the staff will come from behind the counter to help you choose and bag your selections.

Yelp
A great stop for a quick sandwich at lunch (fresh veggies, meats, and bread), or for a sweet treat - their Millefeuille is lovely as are the chocolatines. Always friendly service and great location near Parc Lafontaine on the bike paths.

Yelp
This bakery is tucked into a street in the plateau. It seems like a local neighborhood bakery. There are pastries, breads, and also cooked food. My mom and I bought the raisin hazelnut honey loaf and got it sliced. Fresh bread is amazing. The bread is filled with hazelnut and raisins. Its very fragrant and the texture of the bread is just the way I like it.

Yelp
Visited in 2013. I recently had an amazing memory of Pinchot. I just had to add a review. Absolutely loved this neigborhood bakery. Superb bread! Happened to pass by this bakery on my way to the park (Parc Fontaine). I stopped in and was moved by the aroma and quaint environment. The attendant was so very pleasant and helpful. They made me a sandwhich with a bread of my choice and I took that for an afternoon at Parc del Fontaine. It was a spiritual experience.

Yelp
I am sad that this excellent bakery only has two reviews! The assortment of pastries and breads is very fine, and overall Mr. Pinchot should be considered one of the best boulangeries in the city. It is hard not to want one of everything when you stop by.

Yelp
Had a stop here on our a bike tour. The almond croissant was delicious. Also had coffee and latte which was well made.
