Yelp
This is hands down one of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants in Austin. And it's a woman owned business :) I have been here a few times and tried the veggie burger and hummus sandwich on my most recent visit, both of which were very tasty. We were celebrating a birthday and our hostess was kind enough to grab us a knife and plates to serve it. Pro tip: There's often a long wait for weekend brunches so I suggest you get on the waitlist through the Yelp app. It gives an accurate estimate of wait times and when you can expect to be seated. Also, they do not seat you until everyone in the group arrives. There's a few parking spots available behind the restaurant, else you can also look for street parking nearby.

Yelp
TDLR: Bouldin Creek Cafe is phenomenal. This is a must try if you like sandwiches. Landed in Austin and this was the first spot we checked out - it was quite busy at 2 PM, we were looking to grab a quick lunch. We got seated at the bar and the hostess was very friendly. They have a wide selection of drinks and food but we went straight for the mains. We got the veggie royale (they have an award winning veggie patty in this one!) and I got the "kool hummus" sandwich with vegan bacon. My sandwich was SO memorable - their chipotle hummus is so decadent, tangy and just the right amount of spicy. The vegan bacon was also fantastic - crispy, chewy and salty. I got the side slaw and it was quite spicy but good. The patty was so filling and delicious. The hummus sandwich is a must get - absolutely loved it. Will 100% be coming back next time in Austin.

Yelp
It's a solid 4 star place. All the dishes were good, but it didn't blow me away. The harvest bowl is my favorite. It's light, tasty and refreshing. Our server is nice. They have a 20% surcharge for all orders, and tips can be added on top. The location is great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a friend after a multi-year hiatus. Definitely a wait but it was worth it! I could tell they were a bit under-staffed and it took a while to get our order taken but the food was amazing. So fresh, so clean, so healthy, so delicious! I got the Bouldin Omlette with a side of the blueberry griddle cake and a mocha. 10/10 for the food absolutely!!! Such a solid spot to eat in Austin!

Yelp
What a cute little spot on 1st street. It's a nice walking neighborhood, lots of stores and restaurants, even a food truck park. Not a lot of good parking. But once you find parking, walk around, get to know the little places along 1st street. Came Sunday for brunch. Around noon. Wait time was about 20 minutes. Not long at all. They have inside and outside dining. It was such a gorgeous day, we sat outside. The outside area is covered. And they do have big fans in the corners hung up high. A lot of great drinks to choose from and delicious meals too. The whole place inside and out smelled so good. I got a mimosas and the garden breakfast. Mimosa was perfect. The meal was scrambled eggs and sliced tomatoes with steamed spinach. Slightly wilted. Perfectly done. And a sliced of lemon to squeeze over the spinach. Which I loved. Nice light breakfast and clean ingredients. I absolutely love this patterned plate! I must have! Because I had such a light breakfast I dove right into that dessert. A blueberry lavender pie with vegan vanilla ice cream. Oh WOW! Did that hit the spot. The lavender was light and just in the background. But that blueberry was bursting with flavor. The ice cream was delicious as well. Such a good meal. And for a first timer, great experience. Our server was so patient. We took a long time to order. And we stayed for so long after our meal. Thank you so much for being so kind.

Yelp
First of all! This place is awesome for Vegan options! The tofu scramble in my Maximo and Scramwich was very unique and had a different texture than others I tried. I would say the best I tried The Grilled Cornbread was so delicious along with pancake type fixings like vegan butter and maple syrup. My wife had the Renedict! The Hollandaise mmmmm!!!!! No words can describe. Everything was delectable! Don't get me started on the Brookie for dessert The customer service was awesome! The ambience was chill and vibrant and surrounded by a small quaint neighborhood. Thumbs up to Bouldin Creek Cafe! A definite must try.

Yelp
I'm thrilled to share my exceptional experience at Bouldin Creek Cafe, a hidden gem in Austin that has left a lasting impression on my taste buds. As a self-proclaimed veggie burger connoisseur, I've had the pleasure of trying some of the best veggie burgers in the country, but Bouldin Creek Cafe's version is a serious contender for the top spot. Hands down, Houston's/Hillstone's has been my go-to spot for the best veggie burger in the world, but Bouldin Creek Cafe is officially giving them a run for their money. The veggie burger at Bouldin Creek Cafe is a masterclass in flavor and texture, with a perfectly cooked patty that's both juicy and crispy. The bun is soft and slightly sweet, and the toppings are fresh and expertly prepared. What truly sets Bouldin Creek Cafe's veggie burger apart, however, is its commitment to using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. You can taste the difference in every bite, from the freshness of the lettuce to the richness of the avocado. The patty itself is made with a blend of black beans, quinoa, and vegetables, and is seasoned to perfection with a blend of spices and herbs. I was also impressed by the portion size, which was generous and filling without being overwhelming. The prices were also very reasonable, making Bouldin Creek Cafe a great value for the quality and quantity of food you receive. But what truly makes Bouldin Creek Cafe stand out is its commitment to sustainability and community. The cafe is powered by solar energy, and the staff is passionate about reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices. The atmosphere is also warm and welcoming, with a cozy patio area that's perfect for a relaxing meal or a casual gathering with friends. Overall, I would highly recommend Bouldin Creek Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious and sustainable meal in Austin. The veggie burger is a must-try, and the cafe's commitment to community and sustainability makes it a truly special place. Rating Breakdown: Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Overall: 5/5 Recommendation: If you're looking for a delicious and sustainable meal in Austin, look no further than Bouldin Creek Cafe. The veggie burger is a must-try, and the cafe's commitment to community and sustainability makes it a truly special place. Be sure to check out the patio area and enjoy the cozy atmosphere, and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations - the staff is happy to help.

Yelp
Bouldin is one of my go-to spots because of all the the vegetarian options they offer! And I think every single thing on the menu is amazing. Went for breakfast recently and my go-to is the predictable breakfast. The potato hash cake is amazing, and the scrambled eggs are always cooked to perfection. I tried it with the pepper puree this time and it was amazing. The coffees are always great too and I appreciate they don't upcharge for milk substitutes. The service is usually pretty good, and I like that they have a heated patio especially during the winter months. Only complaint was the bathroom was not the cleanest, but could've been just an odd case of someone not cleaning up after themselves. Overall always recommend this spot!

Yelp
I had multiple people recommend this restaurant to me in Austin and it was worth the hour wait! Lots of vegan and gluten free options / substitutes. Everything was super fresh and scratch made. The vibes were fun and laid back. Definitely want to visit again to try more things on the huge menu!

Yelp
I love Bouldin Creek! It is a small vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the heart of South Austin. The service is great! Tip- if you are dining alone or as a couple the bar is a nice place to sit, no need to see hostess. I love everything I have eaten there, but struggle getting something other than the Tofu Renedict for breakfast. My brother's go to- south Austin Stir Fry. Two must tries- chipotle Pecan Pesto and Blueberry Cornbread.

Yelp
I love Bouldin Cafe and was happy to return with a foodie friend who had never been there and was eager to try it. I often take out-of-town visitors there, even if they are not vegans or vegetarians. The food is great and satisfying, regardless of the diner's diet preferences. (I myself am an athlete representing the "Beef Team," and I am always pleased with my non-meat meal. This time I ordered the Massman Jackfruit Curry. It was delicious and hearty, perfect for the chilly night. The coconut Thai-style curry sauce was mild but flavorful and included sweet potato, broccoli, mushroom, red onions, and jackfruit. For extra protein, I added the sesame tofu for $2. The organic brown rice paired beautifully with the curry. The service was fast, and the server was friendly. I will definitely come back for more!

Yelp
Bouldin Creek is a favorite! I love that they have options for everyone - vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, and "regular." The vibe is always friendly and can be great for occasions or just a casual hang. Definitely my one of my favorite restaurants in Austin

Yelp
Woman owned and vegan friendly?? Love it!!! My partner and I visited this place on a Sunday morning, there was quite a line up of people and we were hesitant to wait but I'm so glad we did!! The food was absolutely phenomenal and the ambiance of the cafe was so fun and bright. They even have a deal on ice coffee where you get one free refill so that was a nice bonus to take one to go after our meal. Definitely put this gem on your list to try when you're in Austin!
google avatar

Yelp
Vegan and Veggie paradise!! They have plenty of options for vegans. We tried their Veggie Royale, spicy pesto plate and grilled cheese. Also tried their green juice. Everything was amazing. This place is very popular and has long wait time so reserve your spots via yelp in advance. The parking behind the restaurant is small and runs out of space quickly. You may have to park in the neighborhood. Only regret was the Avo and Cheese roll up from kids menu for my toddler. That was the only dish which was disappointing. Their pesto is out of the world, don't miss it.

Yelp
Love this place! LGBTQ friendly! Great decor. You could come here over and over and not see everything they have on the walls the art is so cool. Vegan restaurant with a lot of gluten free options as well. You come here and you leave feeling good because the quality of the food is outstanding! Salads, sandwiches, daily soup specials. A wonderful cornbread appetizer. I had the tofu stir fry. Rice noodles, tofu, carrots, mushrooms, some cabbage. Delicious! They also have a number of teas and non-alcoholic drinks they make. Give them a try!

Yelp
Definitely a must try for vegetarian as the whole menu is vegetarian/vegan. We tried veggie royale and Kool hummus sandwich and it was good. I would quantity is decent, not a lot. So it you are very hungry, get some appetizer. The potato salad concept was really nice. Price of each sandwich is also decent ($12/$12.50 each). Also their website has menu for photos and prices of each item- I found that really helpful. Place is really old, which you can sense the vibe just after entering. Both seating options- indoor and outdoor.

Yelp
I had lunch at Bouldin Creek with a friend. They have so many lovely vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast and lunch. I had a Matcha latte with oat milk and tried their Bulgogi bowl this time. I am very excited to try more. Things was so delicious. Our server was very attentive and sweet and the patio was so relaxing.

Yelp
The Bouldin Creek Cafe is such a great place for a hearty, vegetarian meal, people watching, and solo dining. As soon as I arrived in Austin, complete with my carry-on, I grabbed an Uber to the cafe. The staff is so nice and serviceable and I can tell that everyone who works there takes pride in what they do and also truly enjoys the food that is made there. For me, this kind of loyalty let's me know that I'm dining at a great place. I had their vegetarian take on "shrimp and grits" with their mushroom and grits bowl and oh em gee, I loved it so much that I even tried to recreate it at home. The grits were creamy, the chipotle vegan butter was savory, and the mushrooms were perfectly meaty. The parsley and pumpkin seeds were the perfect toppers. Of course, I had to get a breakfast taco as well. Portion size was quite big! Tasty, nonetheless. If you're in Austin, Bouldin Creek Cafe is a must try!

Yelp
Came here after a race today and it was the perfect post race brunch! It felt like one of the few bastions of Austin's eclectic culture from the early 2000's. They had an amazing coffee selection from taro infused drinks, lavender, and rosemary latte's. They had an amazing food selection! I opted for an omelette and the pesto drizzled on top elevated the meal. I highly recommend the cinnamon rolls. The service was friendly and quick.
google avatar

Anastasia S.

Yelp
Southwest stirfry is one of my favorites and I never had problems. Customer service is always nice and understanding easy to place order to go and pick up. I had my birthday with them so it was wonderful to get a free brownie and customer service again was very nice and understanding about the events and what I needed. I love that they have a lot of different vegan options and I'm always very happy to sit on the balcony, it's really dog friendly, and the artwork on the walls is always nice to look at.

Markus M.

Yelp
So healthy, so delicious. Very great place for any time of day. I'm not even vegetarian but it remains one of my favorite spots in town.

Yelp
Finally went to Bouldin Creek Cafe for lunch and it was great. Have some dietary restrictions this month and found the perfect option with the Moroccan summer bowl. Friendly staff and great space inside and out. Some of the sandwiches sounded delicious so I will have to go back when I can have gluten.

Yelp
Came here two years in a row while in Austin for ACL. Both times did not disappoint! Their vegan breakfast tacos are great. Service is quick and friendly. I also got the blueberry cornbread each time I've been, because duh! It's too yummy! I will always visit every time I'm in Austin.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast tacos of the trip! We were staying near SoCo so we walked here -- it's a little far but it was nice to walk in the morning. They have all vegetarian and vegan food and it was so hard to decide what to get! Super huge space and friendly staff. I opted for the breakfast taco special and it was so so good.
google avatar

Katarina S.

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian, so I didn't come here for that reason. Came looking for good breakfast food and found some. The omelet I had was filling and tasted good. We also had a breakfast oatmeal with fruits and they was way better than I expected. Also had an egg, soy-rizo (vegetarian chorizo), and veggies breakfast taco that's tasty. Good food.

Yelp
Amazing service and atmosphere. I am from Los Angeles and came to visit TX for thanksgiving break. Very fun place to eat. Ordered vegan dishes and had an amazing coconut assam latte. Food was delicious.

Yelp
Visited July 23rd 2024 My wife and I stopped in because we were craving breakfast food and this kept popping up as the best place. What really sold it was that it is a vegetarian/vegan spot and my wife is vegetarian so she was not limited on what she could and could not have. I got the Massaman Jackfruit Curry and my wife got the Fajitas Ricas, the chips and salsa, a black coffee and an OJ. We sat outside and got to enjoy a nice rain storm that hit halfway through our meal, but we were thankfully bone dry from the over hang and the plastic walls that kept the rain out. It was a very peaceful enviroment. Our waitress was great, she was speedy, answered all the questions we had and made sure that my wife was filled up on coffee during our visit. One downside to road tripping is I don't know when we will be back, but we are happy that we went regardless.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Everyone already loves it here but I just had to say, the vegan cinnamon buns are SO FREAKIN GOOD! I am not a vegan and typically don't like alternative butter but I'd eat about 1000 of these if I could.
google avatar

Shruti P.

Yelp
The best brunch lunch place in the city. Every meal I had here has been perfection. Service is always great. Friendly staff. Any requests regarding food for my kid is happily accepted. Must try: Spicy pesto, the Renedict, Benny. The wait here to be seated should speak for itself on how famous and loved this place is. You can check in to the waitlist from Yelp before you get to the restaurant to save you some wait time. And get an idea on how long the wait will be. Their parking lot is small and tight. 3 parking spots are available right in front of the restaurant. Rest is all street parking which is decently available. If you have a bigger car avoid their private parking space. The only one thing I have always felt uncomfortable with is their fixed fair wage % applicable to every check/bill/tab. Yes they have an explanation to it provided on the menu. But still 18% feels a lot and then we leave tip on top of it. Guess so far the good food and laid back chilled out ambiance and good service has made me kind of ignore that part.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
Such a good spot for vegan breakfast. I will stop here every time I'm in Austin because it's so good and I love having so many options. The vibe is really fun too and in a nice part of Austin.

Yelp
First off... I'm not a vegetarian by any means and I was a bit hesitant to come here the first place. Bottom line, I'm glad I did! Honestly if I ever was become a vegetarian, it was because this place showed me the way!! The food is AWESOME! It's Amazing!! It's honestly so good that I actually come here at least once a week and look forward to the next time I come back! Recommend: Tarzan's Big Salad or Tofu Broccoli Salad Tarzan's; everything is marinated, portobello mushrooms are very meaty and hearty. Be sure to get the Garlic Tahini sauce! Tofu Broccoli: I've never liked tofu until I came to this place, I never knew it could taste that good! Be sure to get the Ginger Miso or Garlic Tahini sauce. Oftentimes I'll ask for an extra side of sauce/dressing. Now that they don't put enough but because I just like more!! The staff is over super friendly and seems happy to be working there! Which is really cool to Like Working where ya work.
google avatar

Susan L.

Yelp
Good food. Great service. I crave that lavender mint tea. Really good for vegetarian and vegan visitors from out of town. Even the graffiti in the bathroom is good.

Cindy M.

Yelp
I will be telling everyone and their mother about this restaurant for the next month. The atmosphere was casual and super friendly. The food was delicious and flavorful. The only thing that kept this visit from being perfect was the syrup in my mimosa sank fairly quickly which made most of the drink taste like a cup of champagne; make sure to stir if you try the purple rain! I will be back soon.
google avatar

Terra A.

Yelp
Loved the vibe. Location was minutes away from American-Statesman Hall. Food was delish. Don't hesitate to try this place. You'll enjoy it.

Yelp
Bouldin Creek Cafe is a South Austin staple known for its delicious and affordable vegan-friendly options. I'm a big foodie and live to eat, so it's rare that I'd go out of my way for a vegan-only restaurant due many restaurants not being particularly good at executing on vegan dishes, but after having been to Bouldin Creek Cafe and trying almost a third of their menu, I have left satisfied each time. The location, buildout, and service feels very old-Austin: a more casual hippy vibe that feels almost like you've stepped back 15 - 20 years (in a good way). Big shoutout for the Korean Bulgogi bowl. As someone who loves and indulges in Korean food on a weekly basis, I was surprised a non-Asian restaurant could hit on the flavors so well, especially with non-meat Bulgogi! Parking is available to the side of the restaurant but is somewhat limited for the amount of seating available so be ready to park further up the neighborhood streets.

Yelp
After Mother's closed we found Bouldin Creek as a good vegetarian substitute. We have had everything from brunch to dinner and believe this restaurant is an important vegetarian addition to Austin 's culinary scene. Bouldin has become our favorite restaurant to bring visitors to since you can get so many dishes here. Everyone is friendly and you won't be sorry you dined at Bouldin Creek Cafe.

Yelp
Such a great vegan restaurant in Austin!! I joined the Yelp waitlist and our table was ready in 10 minutes. When we got seated our waiter was so kind and accommodating and very attentive to my food allergies. The food itself was so flavorful! I ordered the curry and I could only eat half of it since it was so filling, I took the rest to go. I also got the Thai foggy tea which was really comforting.
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
Super fresh and refreshing meal after a lot of Austin bbq meats ^.^ I'm not usually a healthy eater, but I found these vegetarian options so satisfying and delicious! The portions were huge, I couldn't even finish my salad. The ingredients were fresh, no wilted greens. I would def order the Greek quinoa salad bowl again! Service was quick! We came for lunch on a Monday. If you have a party of 4, you might want to make a reservation. They only had bar seating when we came.

Yelp
Highly recommended to vegetarians and vegans It is the first time visiting this awesome vegetarian/vegan restaurant! The vibe of this restaurant is definitely postmodern and I enjoyed my visiting and dining here! The staff was very friendly and helped me to get the delicious food, Fajita Ricas, which had deliciously sautéed portabello mushroom, black beans, tomatoes with onions and corns, avocado, tortillas and chipotle spicy sauce! Twas really good I would love to see growing and expanding such an awesome restaurant like this to many more places! Keep up the great work and love to be back again! :) Cheers Jay

Yelp
Austin's OG where resting omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans can all delight in sharing a bomb ass meal together. Always out for sweets, I'm in it for the Stuffed Oatmeal Cookie Sandwich from Sugarbush Vegan Bakery (dessert first!), and follow with an omelet (because BALANCE), also: they're the BEST. Try as I might to flip or flop some eggs into submission, these omelets are always just-right with a toasted exterior, gently cooked through center, eggs cradling (in my case) griddled hash browns, leeks, and Gruyère, topped with sour cream the consistency of crème fraîche, black pepper, and scallions. It's an exquisite way to start the day for breakfast or all-day brunch. I do wish they hadn't fucked with my Kool Summer Sammich, but maybe if I closed my eyes the Hummus one would taste about the same. After all, what's in a name? And their hummus with veggies is one of my faves when looking for something lighter to level my sugar high.
google avatar

Chloe F.

Yelp
You don't have to be vegan to appreciate the delicious food at Bouldin Creek Cafe! The breakfast tacos were hearty and elevated once I added the red hot sauce (no clue what it was, but it was amazing!). But I will have to say the cinnamon roll and bagel with vegan cream cheese really stole the show! The space is large, which means little if any wait times and there's lots of fun art!

Yelp
Sometimes You Get Lucky! We were staying nearby and looking for a place to enjoy some coffee while my kids got dolled up to run around SoCo taking selfies all morning. We decided to go the opposite direction and check out the less touristy South 1st Street. BCC was just a short walk away and drew us in with the fun eclectic vibe and the promise of shaded patio seating. I have a lot of eating restrictions and was expecting to watch my wife enjoy another big, fat, cheesy bacon and egg croissant while I slowly digested my daily ration of All-Bran. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw not one or two token veggie menu items but several that looked absolutely delish. Nearly all of them offered a vegan option as well. I didn't know I had stumbled upon an awesome vegetarian cafe. Sometimes you get lucky. We ordered a few different vegetarian/vegan breakfast tacos. Each was better than the last. I especially like the option of ordering my taco with corn or flour or whole wheat tortillas. Another feature I really liked was the outdoor patio. If you're coming to Austin in the spring from the land of 10,000 icebergs, you want to be outside as much as possible!

Yelp
If you're vegan or vegetarian, by all means, please eat at Bouldin Creek Cafe. However, if you're not into meat alternatives, it might not be for you. I came here for a meat-free meal, but if I see meat on the menu--even if it's plant-based--I'm sold, call me weak. Since Bouldin Creek Cafe offers a unique dining experience that feels very local, their menu can be overwhelming. I was able to try a little bit of everything being with friends, but unfortunately, I found the food overall lacking in flavor and texture.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
I took some friends from out of town here for breakfast and one was vegan. She was very impressed with all of the vegan options. Even if you aren't vegan there are plenty of options for you here. I got the bouldin Omlette, vegan chorizo kolache, and a cortada. Everything on the menu is very unique and delicious. The location is great and one of the Austin Staples I will tell people to go to get some delicious healthy food.

Michelle A.

Yelp
Good food lots of options for different dietary restrictions. Great service. Chill Austin vibe.

Drew D.

Yelp
great vegetarian and vegan options. I love the vegan eggs benedict! comfortable atmosphere. and they treat the staff well.

Yelp
I was visiting with my partner and no lie we ate here five times in the week we were there. Everything is so yummy and all of the people who work here are so kind. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, with patio and indoor seating. It was a hotter day when we sat outside and there were fans and water very fast, so it was really nice actually! I loooove the amount of vegan options, it's really easy to find stuff to eat and so many options too! Love love loooooove this place. Definitely go.

Yelp
The food, the people, ambience, are great! The food is prepped to order and tastes AMAZING! The servers are responsive to our requests and will let us know about substituting foods if requested and is somewhat wheelchair friendly. I usually have to send at an end of the table which can be cumbersome at times as people must be able to mass me.
google avatar

Stephan C.

Yelp
Great food great atmosphere. Just remember they already charge 20% for fair wage, which is not shown when you pay and add a tip via their toast app. So unless you want to pay 40% over your bill take that into account when adding an additional tip.
