On the Grid : Boulevard Burger & Brew

Just ok. The apricot jam and goat cheese burger was delicious but the bun wasn't toasted so the texture was all mush. Citrus vinaigrette for the salad was watery and tasted like straight up lemon juice and made a salad incredibly unappealing. Service was fine .

Google
First time here and I must say they have some of the most delicious burgers!! They deserve 10 stars for great food and good vibes 🙌🏾

Google
I been going to burger and brew for so many years!! And every single time I’m impressed. When I was younger I used to come drink at the bar, now I have a toddler and we get a booth. She loves it too. 10/10 must try if you are in Richmond.

Google
It's a burger joint that's a bit elevated to fit the Richmond market. GM was present as I walked in for a quick take out order. He took my order at the bar. He was young and very sharp. His team seemed motivated. The burgers and drinks I ordered came out within 15 minutes and were on point. I went with a boozy milkshake while waiting. It was nothing over the top (do it). I gotta say though, I wish I had ordered and stayed in house rather than heading home. What burger doesn't get soggy on your way home? Had a sick wife who needed a bite to eat. If you can, do it the right way and have a seat. Vibe is good. Family friendly. Worth noting that all burgers are cooked using USDA Prime beef - that absolutely changes the game and comes through.

Google
Excellent as always! Definitely a good to spot! They could absolutely charge more $ per item and it would still be a great value. Best burgers in Richmond by far!!

Google
I went back for the first time since they reopened, and it was just as good as it was before! I don’t think I have experienced a friendlier server in my life as I did here. She was so attentive and so nice! The interior still has the same classic diner feel And most of the menu is still the same. I got the B3 sliders and they are so good! They have been gone for a while, but I still wish they had the pimento cheese, tater tots! Those were an instant classic and I wish they would bring them back.

Google
If In-N-Out is my burger soulmate, then Bulevard Burgers is my delicious side chick. I’m loyal to In-N-Out — the freshness, the simplicity, that perfect bun-to-meat ratio. It’s my gold standard. But then Bulevard Burgers came along with their sliders, and I’m not saying I cheated... but I might’ve emotionally strayed. Tried both the meat and veggie sliders, and let me tell you — they slap. Maybe not as "fresh off the farm" as In-N-Out, but in terms of flavor? Oh, they understood the assignment. Juicy, tasty, and just the right size to convince yourself you can eat three without guilt. If In-N-Out is a crisp high-five on a sunny California day, Bulevard is a warm bear hug with sauce on your shirt. 10/10, would betray my burger values again.

Google
Great burgers. They have options suck as veggie and turkey burgers for those who can’t eat beef. They have a good beer menu. And their milkshakes are yummy.

Yelp
A local favorite I love the classic burger joint / diner vibe. There are plenty of the seating inside but I prefer the picnic tables outside. Just need to make sure they know you are out there.... Everything on the menu is great! I had the Crafty Belgian which is great for my sweet tooth taste with the apricot jam. The baskets are pretty big so be sure there are enough people to share. Everyone knows how leftover tater tots tastes like.. yuk There is a small parking lot but often full. Try your luck or plan ahead.

Yelp
The retro diner vibe with the Las Vegas style sign out front is truly impossible to miss - so after driving by this place a million times, I figured it was about time I checked it out :) and lemme tell you it was exactly as advertised! Perfect stop after a long day at work - and I just needed to satisfy a craving. The burger wasn't my favorite burger I've had in Richmond, but was still pretty solid - the onion strings were a good finishing touch! Fries were good, but got cold quick - but speaking of cold, that coffee shake was exactly what I needed. So many flavors to choose from too which I appreciated a ton! Had a really nice server who helped me order takeout too - I walked in not too far before they were scheduled to close, but was helped out no problem. As someone who worked in food service for years, I appreciated their willingness to act like I was any other customer who had walked in hours before - and wasn't simply the one standing between them and going home.

Yelp
Went to try their boozy milkshakes and did not disappoint. We shared their peanut butter milkshake made with peanut butter whiskey and it tasted amazing! The waitress was super attentive and split the shake serving it in 2 glasses with whipped cream. Nice diner vibes inside. There's an outdoor patio, but might be too hot in this weather.

Yelp
Burgers and fries, and other goodness on the menu. You can smell the burgers cooking on the grill from outside. The burger was a homemade style burger, fries were a seasoned style fry...and it was excellent. Burger was cooked to perfection, fries were crispy. And it was served with other a smile. I totally dig the burger stand decor, they had sports on their TVs, and also Pabst on tap. ***Flight Attendant approved***

Yelp
So beyond not worth it. Sad burgers, slow, ugly. Hope this becomes almost anything else and they dont reopen.
google avatar

Yvonne M.

Yelp
My first time here, I came through at lunch time looking for a vegan burger, which they had a beyond burger... but...it wasn't seasoned, so it was bland. I was so sad because I hadn't had a burger in a long time and was really looking forward to it. I'd passed by this location several times and finally had a chance to stop, and it wasn't my fave, so I don't know if I would go back. I love a juicy burger with lots of seasoning on it, or at the very least salt and pepper. I would give it another try because I have heard good things about them, so maybe it was an off day, or just vegan burgers are not their thing. Maybe next time..

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Saturday and got the sliders($10) and fried pickles($7). Sliders were cooked to a medium and were a nice snack size meal. The grilled onions were sweet and savory. The burger was moist but lacked seasoning. Luckily they put there house sauce on the burger. The fried pickles were hard and fried pretty well. The dill ranch paired very well with the fried pickles. A very chill diner looking burger joint. Staff were friendly. Overall a good experience here and I would come back again to try other burgers! Food: 7.2 Staff/service: 7.0 Value: 7.2 Overall: 7.1/10

Yelp
This place is a Richmond staple and deservedly so. Good burgers and milkshakes and they're close to the stadium so a pre squirrels meal is great if you stop in with these guys.

Yelp
My husband and i LOVED this burger joint! It has an old diner feel but serves boozy milkshakes and alcohol. They have a great happy hour with discounted drinks and food, and everything was amazing! It's right by a movie theatre so we chose to have a dinner/movie date, and this was the perfect place. The food came out quickly and there was no wait on a Monday afternoon, but heard this place can get pretty busy on the weekend. The reward system is the same for here and PBR, so although it was our first time here we actually got money off our receipt! We are already trying to find an excuse to come back, highly recommend!

Yelp
We are in the process of moving to this neighborhood and I have driven by Boulevard many times and it always seems very lively. So after a fun date night in Scott Addition we decided to end it with burgers and fries here. Fortunately, because it's right before the holidays it wasn't as busy as it usually is from when I've driven by and both service and food were excellent. Can't wait to show this burger joint to our families when they visit. Also they have great 2000s punk rock music!

Yelp
Used to come here during my younger days and came back in the last couple of months. This review is a little bit delayed. Classic burger and milkshake place and I love how they keep this place retro! The ambiance is so charming so I hope this never changes!

Yelp
While babysitting in Richmond my nephew wanted chicken wings and I wanted a burger. We door dashed from this establishment as I knew they had gluten free buns available. I ordered a BYOB w/ double patty no link, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo & ketchup. My eyes were bigger than my stomach as I thought I wouldn't get full. The burger was more than filling and tasty. The gluten free bun was decent. Not my favorite but also not the worst. I'd probably order it in a lettuce bun next time over having the bun. My nephew enjoyed his chicken wings.

Yelp
So glad this place came up in a search for best burger in Richmond because it was a dang good burger place! First off all the food was delicious! My hubs and I tried a few different dishes and all were 5 star quality! We enjoyed the following: Cheeseburger-when you can do a classic right, that is always good! Inside out Juicy Lucy-husband got it as a double and loved his burger. Tots, fries and crispy onions strings-all delicious and husband loved the boulevard sauce and I loved their homemade ranch. Could drink that stuff up! Chili-I'm very picky about chili and this one was good. I see why it's award winning! Great flavor! Our server was great and even let my husband know when checking out their brews that they had a new ipa on tap and he ended up trying it and loving it. Our server was kind and attentive and fun! Plenty of outdoor seating but also indoor seating as well. It looks like an old school diner inside with seats at the counter and old fashioned stools. Didn't try one of their boozy milkshakes but want to go back and try one or even just a regular milkshake. The half and half tea I had was good and tea at some places can be hit or miss and this was a hit. Will hit this place up when in Richmond for sure!

Yelp
Boulevard was built okay. We visited at a time it was extremely busy, so the wait time was about 30 mins (although i was told 10mins). Since the weather was so nice the wait didn't matter. My waitress was the sweetest, Can't remember her name but she had the cutest pink hair . I order a Kelly's Classic with Bacon and the Secret Sauce with Tater tots and a chicken strip kids meal. The orange milk shake was thick just the way it was supposed to be. This is the bad side of my review. My burger came with plain with no sauces (my waitress brought out the spreads) and the chicken strips were heavily breaded. So much that I had to pull the breading off to get to the meat to feed my 15 month son. Maybe I might need to revisit on another day when it's not as busy. But other than my few hiccups I must admit my burger was gre

Yelp
Location is busy. Seating was quick and the burgers are amazing! Love the beer menu as well... perfect for lunch time! The inside is really happening but that was before the renovations (car drove through the window). Anyway, need to go back and check out the decorations for the holidays,

Yelp
I should have stopped at the fried pickles. They were good but it started going downhill after that. We ordered a black bean burger which was way over cooked and hard. My husband got a beef burger which he said was pretty good. We also order onion rings and the waiter warned us they were "onion straws". Very thin and stringy not as substantial as an onion ring.
google avatar

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
Cute nostalgic burger joint with throwback decor and signage. Staff was super friendly and it was easy to order takeout. I was given a time estimate of about fifteen minutes which is pretty standard. I ordered a brew house burger and tots. Tots we're just okay and didn't feel that warm, and I ate the food within five minutes of leaving. Burger was good with lots of flavor and quality ingredients, but the bottom bun was super soggy like it had been sitting a while and was maybe ready a lot quicker that the estimate I got. I would eat here again but only for dine in.

Yelp
Stopped by after an event at the Diamond. We were starving and Boulevard Burger did not disappoint. The Bacon Cheese fries are some of the best I've had in a while. The burgers were a perfect size. Fairly large I would say. They have outdoor seating which is perfect on a good afternoon. Indoor looks like a retro diner sort of vibe. They have a bar and 2 tvs which had sports on. Our waiter was attentive and stopped by a couple of times to see if we needed anything. We'll definitely stop by anytime we are around.

Yelp
6.27.23 Not quite Vegas, but the cute signage made me feel like I was there. We dropped in on our way to SC. The outside and interior gave a diner vibe except that they serve alcohol too. Menu items are a la carte so a bit pricier than other burger joints. Typically you can get a drink and fries at a combo elsewhere. I ordered the Kelly's Classic, but asked to sub the American cheese with pepperjack and asked if the onions could be grilled. I also ordered small fries on the side. My hubby ordered the Inside-Out Lucy Juicy. We asked that our burger be cooked medium rare. Our burgers were good, but did not come out medium rare. Fortunately we were asked if we wanted any sauces so I asked for the bbq, Carolina, honey mustard and my hubby asked for the Siracha Ranch. This made the burgers pop and probably made it more moist. Loved all the sauces. Fries were crispy. Definitely one of my favorite burgers that I've had recently.

Yelp
Fun retro looking burger joint on the boulevard. The atmosphere feels like a 90's joint and plenty of outdoor spaces to sit. The food fell a little flat for me - my partner ordered sliders which were okay and I got the boulevard brew house burger. The burger was dry and didn't have enough sauce. We did also get cheese curds and a peanut butter shake which were the highlights of dinner. The sriracha mayo that came with the cheese curds were delicious. If I were to return I'd probably skip the burgers and go for the apps and shakes. Maybe try the sandwiches as well.

Yelp
This was our first visit and it didn't disappoint. I must admit that my expectations were not very high based on the outside appearance but the service and food were great. The place was well staffed with energetic young folks who seem to sport their own styles. We will venture back to this place soon.

Yelp
My brother and I walked to Boulevard Burger and Brew! I have always wanted to try this place. I pass the restaurant all the time driving to different places in the area. We walked in and wanted it go and they had great options for everyone! I was debating the black bean burger sliders but I ended up getting the B3 just regular burger sliders. The prices were a little high and the fries weren't part of the burger but we just shared a medium fry and it was perfect. The staff was super friendly and I love the cute old timeliness of the place! Our food came out very fast too! Next time we want to try the milkshakes!
google avatar

Jordan D.

Yelp
Aside from limited parking and it usually being crowded, the food is fantastic and the staff is so nice! Love their sliders.
google avatar

Shahin E.

Yelp
Stop to get a quick bite to eat after a heavy workout. The burgers were cooked perfectly. I will say i wish we had more onion in the "onion straws" felt like i was eating more batter than onions. Definitely will be going back to try other things on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Boulevard Burgee and Brew is overall a great burger place. The ambiance is clearly super cool, giving it a 50's drive in sort of the vibe. There is a large selection of burgers and burger alternatives on the menu. The patty melt was good, though it was definitely slow, despite it being pretty much empty. The price to me seemed a little high for what I was getting (fries are not included).. I think I spent $17 and that didn't even include a drink. I may stop in again, but this isn't a place I'll be running back too anytime soon.
google avatar

D. S.

Yelp
Nice sunny day. Patio seating. About 30 minute wait. Selection of drinks. Boozy milk shakes on the menu. Tried the peanut butter and jelly shake. The blueberry mocktail was refreshing. I got a regular burger so nothing stood out. The hot bomb burger was a different burger menu choice and it was really good. It's a nice family spot. I recommend.

Sofia F.

Yelp
Great retro vibe and amazing food. Burgers always hit the spot. Sad to hear about the crash, hopefully they'll be back up and running soon since I always get a craving for this place. Milkshakes are a little small but so good
google avatar

Dana B.

Yelp
After having wanted to eat here for a number of years, the opportunity presented itself recently and we couldn't have been more pleased with the food and service. We enjoyed the retro vibe, the great music, the food was cooked as ordered, no complaints at all. Of course food tastes can be very subjective, and right now with the economy the way it is; food costs, supply chain issues... and restaurants still struggling to staff adequately, you may need to wait a bit longer for service at times...this was not our case at all, but try and be understanding.
google avatar

Lacie S.

Yelp
We're in town for 1 night and wanted something fun for dinner. This place was fun and so yummy. Our server was great as well!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Great location on the edge of Scott's Addition. They succeeded with the retro drive in burger diner vibe. I ordered the foundation burger, Kelly's Classic, pink. The burger was very enjoyable, all you need in a classic burger. I'll pass on the fries next time. They had a good texture, crispy, but had an incredibly off putting oil flavor. It was so concentrated that it was all you could taste, a funky old oil flavor. I'm not saying it wasn't changed but my first thought was these were fired in yesterday's oil... A decent spot that seems to stay busy. I'll touch base sometime down the road.
google avatar

Jay V.

Yelp
This place was awesome killer food and atmosphere def worth the drive to Richmond for sure
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun location and RVA! The Diablo burger was so yummy along with the sliders. The signature fries was the best side with all that seasoning on top. Such a good place. I will definitely be returning to try their adult milkshakes

Yelp
Updating after a recent poor service experience. I'd been to Boulevard Burger twice before and really enjoyed the food (turkey burgers, fries, shakes) service, and atmosphere. However, I recently brought a few friends to the restaurant. There was a short wait for a table, which we were okay with! Our host was super friendly and kept us updated on the wait time table. We were seated about 20 mins later. Unfortunately after that, although we knew what we wanted to order before we were even seated, we never even had the opportunity to be served. We waited at our table patiently for 25 minutes without a single server stopping to ask us if we had been served. At least four different servers passed us at different points and saw us without stopping at our table. Eventually we asked the host about it and she said she would help us get a server. We waited for a bit longer and still weren't served before leaving to go eat at Cookout because we were famished at that point. I was extremely disappointed because we'd all been excited about burgers and boozy shakes. I wished I had not brought them here for this unfortunate experience.

Yelp
This place was packed on Saturday nights, but we got two open seats at the bar. Loved the California burger. Perfect medium cook. A burger and a side of tots was only $14. The burger could have used a tiny bit more salt, but the toppings were excellent. I was expecting raw kale, but what came on the burger was well dressed, a little lemony. I enjoyed every bite.

M S.

Yelp
Came here because the place we planned on going to nextdoor was closed, when we saw the diner vibes we decided to stick around and see what it was all about! Great choice! We got a burger, the mini corn dogs, and the cheese curds, they were all great and filling! They were out of a couple things from the menu so have a backup order in your head just incase! Our servers were Jade and Josway, both were phenomenal! Thanks guys!
google avatar

Pamela K.

Yelp
Any place I can get a boozy milkshake and a good burger? Is a yes for me! And I can bring my dog, let's add another check. The milkshakes are so deliciously dangerous. I had a milk chocolate with bourbon or whiskey I can't remember but I normal don't like either and I was ready to order another one! My husband got a peanut butter and jelly shake with peanut butter whiskey and that was surprisingly delicious too! I had the sliders and he got a burger and we shared tots and onion strings! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

May-May R.

Yelp
If you like a classic diner feel and a messy burger, Boulevard Burger & Brew is the place for you! Lots of milkshake flavors available (including boozy options) and burger options. I ordered the classic burger and while it wasn't medium rare like I ordered, it was very flavorful (but messy). We also ordered a small sweet potato fry - I wish they had a tiny bit of salt on them to bring out some flavor but were crispy and hot. They do have a parking lot but it fills up quickly - however there is typically plenty of street parking around the area. Also, it's right across the (busy) street from Bowtie Cinema so a great option to grab something to eat before heading to a movie.

John P.

Yelp
The quality of the food has gone downhill since my last visit. I ordered the Brew House Burger. The bun was toasted until it was a piece of hard tack. The bun literally shattered when I bit into it. The burger was supposed to come with BBQ sauce. It didn't. The fried onions on the burger weren't chewable. I'm pretty sure that whoever fried the onions left the peel on the onion. I'll come back, but I'll wait a few months.

Yelp
Friendly Staff, Fast Service, Delicious Comfort Food + Dog Friendly!! Easy "Drive-in" style spot that serves Shakes, Burgers, Beer & Everything in between. Plenty of parking spots in the lot, ample seating inside and outside of the restaurant. My wife and I came here with our 3 small dogs, we were promptly seated outside on a picnic table with a patio umbrella. Located on the corner of a very busy intersection with lots of traffic and movement. My pups were barking often due to the noise but everyone there was cool and calm about it. Kids came over to pet our pups and our sever "Kevin" was awesome waiting on us. He was friendly and pet our dogs to make them feel comfortable with him. Food came out fresh and cooked as requested. I will recommend and definitely return next time I'm in the area! 5 stars for service and attention!!!

Shirley R.

Yelp
Today is exactly why I HATE ordering take out and tipping in advance of receiving my order! After waiting a few YEARS, I was finally able to go and try the burgers. The seats were too uncomfortable for me to sit so I patiently waited the 20 minutes, mostly standing at the bar. That's not really the issue. The issue is when I ordered and purchased jalapeño peppers and Boulevard sauce for my burger, I paid for the peppers and got Neither Item! Folks I freakin paid $22 dollars for that burger and fries. Is it REALLY that hard to give the customer what they gladly paid for? So darn annoying.
google avatar

Sydney B.

Yelp
Their happy hour is great! Not a lot of places still do food discounts in addition to drinks for their happy hour, but I love their sliders with a milkshake and fries. Easy to get in for the most part, and there's parking. Every time I go, the servers are kind and understanding. This restaurant is also family friendly. Would definitely recommend for a good quick bite!
google avatar

Whitney R.

Yelp
Yum is all I can say. Sorry for the after bite and sip of photos but everything was so good. Those greens beans are . I'm not usually a dip person but whatever comes with those green beans is the perfect balance and has a little heat. I got a chicken sandwich which was amazing! My mom got the sliders so I tried one of those ... A Plus! My boyfriend got a burger and onion rings and said both were really good. Forgot the name of the cocktail but it was a winner. We had actually planned to go to Fat Dragon but they were super busy and I am glad they were because I wouldn't have gotten all this goodness.
google avatar

Wael D.

Yelp
I've been trying to check this place out for so long now and it finally worked out a couple days ago. I went all out and got loaded tots, a Diablo burger with onion rings, and a milkshake. The restaurant was decently busy but I was seated as soon as I walked in which was awesome. My server was on top of everything and she rocked. The loaded tots were sooo good. The Diablo burger was really good but holy cow is it spicy. I love spicy food and this one is definitely not for the faint of heart. Onion rings that I got with the burger were also really good. The milkshake was awesome as well. I'll definitely be back to try the other burgers. I absolutely loved this place
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Good as always. Great food, good service, just a great place to eat. Menu is full of good eats, definitely try a milkshake here.
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
The burger was bland. Desperately needed salt. I ordered a few ingredients on my burger but it was still bland--oddly could not discern the individual flavors. Fries were crispy but lacked salt. Fried pickles were average. Straightforward service. No frills.
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food and service at Boulevard Burger & Brew! Our burgers were cooked to perfection and the cheese fries were awesome! Not removing stars for this, but the water was terrible, had a fishy taste and a thick viscosity. We'd definitely return, but order bottled drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a fantastic lunch here yesterday! The absolute star of the show were the spicy Thai fried green beans. Oyeeeeeeeeee we were absolutely enamored with the flavor! To be honest, we rarely take home fried food leftovers because they don't reheat well, but you would've found us eating them cold in the kitchen last night before bed because they were so delicious. The dipping sauce was absolutely heavenly. I think I dreamt about it last night... ANYWAY, we tried out the Diablo burger and the Animal Farm. Both were solidly good. Despite asking how we wanted them cooked (medium rare and medium,) they both came out well done, but they were still very tasty. My husband enjoyed a chocolate peanut butter shake. I was sad that the vegan shakes were not available, but that gives me something to look forward to next time! Pleaseee tell me that the vegan shakes will return, because we certainly will! The outdoor seating was perfect for a nice, sunny day. We were very impressed by the speed and efficiency of the service, including the ability to pay on your phone! During these low-to-no-contact times, that was fantastic. Let me end this review with the most important take away: ORDER THE GREEN BEANS!

Rudy R.

Yelp
The food here is great and they make great shakes. They also make customer burgers that aren't on the menu if requested. Always good service and the ambiance is a classic diner setting. I have no complaints about here.

Yelp
Went to Boulevard Burger and Brew before going to a Richmond Flying Squirrels game and got their $5 smash burger and also got a side order of fries from their secret happy hour menu. I say secret because they don't alert you about it at the restaurant and you just have the food on their regular menu to pick from. I had to ask for it and I only knew about it because I followed them on Instagram. I Anyway, a very good value! Beats going to McDonald's or any fast food restaurant for a burger. It was pretty tasty and perfect size for me. I'd go back for this again
