Full traveller review! Travelled from the UK and tried this place looking for traditional German food. 1) Service in the main was good. The young gentleman was helpful, attentive and quite happy to have us there. The older gentleman on the till wasn’t hugely helpful when paying, but nothing problematic. 2) Ordered the pork schnitzel and my partner had pasta. The schnitzel was huge, but wasn’t anything to about. It had a good flavour, was crispy but could have more flavour. 3) Price - two main meals, plus two diet cokes came to around 46 euro. Not cheap. Overall, food was traditional, good service, fast and attentive - worth a try.

Every time we visit Berlin, we find ourselves returning to Boulevard Friedrichstrasse—again and again! For us, it’s one of the best places in the city to enjoy typical Berlin and German dishes. The food is always fresh and delicious, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the cozy corner-restaurant vibe makes it feel like a local gem. Highly recommended if you want a taste of true Berlin!

Google
All the food was good but the Solynka was especially delicious 😋. The atmosphere is chilled and the staff really welcoming and friendly.

Our go to in Berlin for good German cooking. Love the people and the fabulous music too. I recommend the Solgnka, Feines Ragout and the Ghoulash. There bread dumplings are delicious 😋

Google
I was a little disappointed with this as it had quite the high reviews. The food was average and didn't really have much flavor. The soup was a little too watery for my taste and needed salt, the bread was very dense. The Spätzle was very salty and was filled with onions - fried and spring onions and chives. It was really hard to finish cause the onions were overpowering everything else. Bratwurst was also underwhelming, could've used a little more flavor and little less water. Service was fine, nothing special. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. You can pay by card. Overall, okay experience but will probably not be back.

I wanted to try really authentic German food and this place happened to be within a walking distance for us as we walked around Berlin to see the touristy spots. I ordered the kassler. Lovely cut of meat and the mashed potatoes were served well to even things out between textures. I wasn’t a massive fan of the raw fermented cabbage as it was very tangy in my opinion. Service was good, prices aren’t cheap for food, but it was worth a try. Nice pub within the centre of Berlin.

Google
Walked into this authentic German spot and it did not disappoint! Amazing currywurst and salat with large steak fries. Had my first ever Berliner Weiss grön and it was wonderfully refreshing. Large outdoor patio and intimate dining room. I ordered a starter, beer, and a main. Take into consideration my 20-30 euro range.

Google
We read the reviews to find this place and we were not disappointed. We went expecting authentic German food and thats exactly what we got. The service was friendly and the atmosphere inside was cozy. We had the original Wiener Schnitzel and Crispy Duck, both were delicious.

Yelp
I thought the best liver I could find in the world was in Jerusalem. I wrote about it already. It was really delicious.i was enchanted with the potatoes, soft, squishy, tasty. The waitress was not really nice. Actually, when we asked her recommendations, she looked at us and said: "I don't know what you like". Anyways, is Germany. We do not spect to find amazing/smilie people everywhere we go.

Yelp
Great traditional German food restaurant with traditional atmosphere and magical outside seating. Amazing flavor profile for the traditional weinerschnitzel. It was nicely prepared, but it came with a side of cranberry jelly. A all dab on each bit of the weinerschnitzel is a food marriage made in heaven! I swapped out the side of potatoes for a side of spatzle. Green onion was mixed into the spaetzle and made it in the top list of spaetzle for me.

Yelp
So good! Service was perfect. Not too much. Food was delicious and filling. We sat outside and it was great.

Yelp
I came here because of the over a thousand google reviews. Nothing great, not bad, but could have done without eating here. Friendly staff. I got the steak plate with gravy and onions on top.

Yelp
We have a large group of people and get a negative response because we have 17 people Not advice for a large group. Some how they were acting negative when they assume we were chinese which is not very nice! Foods are very good The duck, pork knuckle and beef are very g

Yelp
Great experience- delicious schnitzel, dumplings, red cabbage, pork. I'd say this meal was the closest to my grandmother's home cooking in all of Germany. Loved the ambiance as well. And our waiter was great. This was our first meal in Germany and I am writing this review after the week and 7 days of dinners. This was by far, the best food and overall experience in Germany that we have had.

Yelp
The food was delicious and wait staff are very friendly and check on you throughout the meal. They were also very welcoming towards Americans. 100% recommend to everyone!

Yelp
Intimate with friendly service , we enjoyed a hearty meal, lovingly presented. Generous portions, fresh flavors, well priced. Would return!

Yelp
The portion here was huge. 1 dish was enough for 2 people. This place was popular on Yelp so we came by to try it out. Also, we need to use washroom pretty badly. In German, there is no free washroom and it was dinner time, so we figure we gave this place a try. Yelp has a mixed of reviews, overall, I found this place not bad. There were a lot of tourists, but I don't think it was a tourist trap. We order the Pork Eisbein, and it came with 2 pork knuckles, so it was enough for 2 of us. I think was it was around 13 euro. It is good the restaurants in Europe do not charge tax and tip. The waitress was friendly and spoke Enligsh. Fun story: We arrived around 5 and this place was empty. However, as soon as our dish came, an elderly tourist group came in and filled up the entire restaurant. Then the waitress was running around and tried to take everyone's order. I like the taste of Pork Eisbein. I could taste it was cooked for a very long time, so it was soft and kinda melt in my mouth. I would recommend this place if you want to try some German food. Order 1 dish for 2 people if you don't have a big appetite.

Yelp
We had a delightful lunch here on our first day in Berlin! Of course, we found it through Yelp! It was a rainy day, but it was cozy inside. We sat at a small table by the window with natural light. Our server was very nice and spoke English. We naturally had to order local beers and enjoyed them very much! Hubby ordered the liver and onions, while I ordered sautéed pork cutlets that came with boiled potatoes and a nice salad garnish. It was a perfect meal leading up to the Berlin Marathon!

Yelp
We went here because we were going to show palest Berlin and read on yeh good reviews not for me first no was was there yet so we were first customer of dinner The waiter was very abrupt when I ask for a change from mashed potatoes to fry he actually said to me I was difficult ( not what you say to customer) the salmon was the worst I have had in a long time !!! He did give me fry not hot or good !! The other felt the same with there meal !!!the experience was not one in witch I would recommend this place to anyone They r lots of restaurants in this area so try another one !!!

Yelp
I was here nearly 30 years ago...not sure if it was the same ownership but it was similar food and the space seems exactly the same. Friendly staff, good German food.

Yelp
Once again, Yelp did not let us down! I did not see the inside so I cannot speak to that but the patio area was lovely, comfortable and a great spot for people watching! Our wait staff was good (plan for a little slower pace then we have in the US) and everything was handled smoothly. If you need an English menu they have them. The food was great! Traditional German - large hardy portions. No dieting! The food is heavy and I'm sure it has a million calories but oh so worth it! (I had mushrooms in cream sauce with potatoes and my mom had sptezla - yum!)
google avatar

Yelp
Just had the Duck Gudrun wing red cabbage and wife had wiener Schnitzel with German potato salad: as they say the German, lexked (yummy). And the portions are huge. We gave half of my wife's dinner to a very appreciate homeless person. And very affordable too. You must try it if in Berlin.
google avatar

Yelp
Last night's dinner was delicious perfection! The service was friendly and welcoming. We will be letting the desk staff at our hotel know that it is a lovely place to recommend to their guests and just a short walk over the Spree river.

Yelp
After visiting Museum Island to see the Pergamon, Altes and Bode Museums in the windy freezing rain, my ladies agreed to give German food one more try (we have been in Munich & Berlin for over a week and tried few German meals and we were less than impressed). Thank goodness they did! We had one of the most delicious meals during this trip and probably one of the most delicious dishes I have ever had! All I can say is the food at this little German restaurant is just AMAZING and it TOTALLY changed my impression of German food. The solid boiled ham hock and Fried veal liver with fried apple were unbelievable. The meat just fall righ off the bone without any effort. You MUST try it if you are visiting Berlin or you will be missing out. BTW the staff are very friendly and price is very fair. Absolutely a 5+ Star establishment! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Excellent food and very good service. Only complaints: inside was reserved at 5 pm on a Saturday, though we were able to sit outside with heaters; and two of our first-choice dishes were sold out. That said, the food was great and I would certainly go here again. Menu has a large selection of German and Berliner specialities. The sauerbraten was sold out, but I had the Zille Teller, which was a lightly sweet-and-sour pork bits in slabs of aspic, with sliced onions, remoulade, and a green salad. My friends had the soup of the day as a starter and raved about it; I had the kartoffelpuffer (thin fried potato pancakes/croquettes) with smoked salmon and a bit of green salad, also great.

Yelp
Read the review in Yelp and decided to come. We end up ordering small side dishes. Love the Potato and Zucchini fritter with smoke Salmon. The caramelized onion with Cheese and the Asparagus soup are great too! So glad that I come. Peter the waiter is so funny.
google avatar

Yelp
This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Berlin! The food was spectacular, and our waiter (Peter) was one of the best servers we have ever had :) Seriously, the guy was on point! Could not recommend this restaurant more, and whether you are a tourist or resident, it is well deserving of your patronage.

Yelp
Walked in around 6PM today expecting to get friendly service and a great German meal. Place wasn't very packed at all, definitely saw four or five tables open. I asked for a table for three (spoke with the person who is in all the photos) and he just shook his head and said no with absolutely zero explanation. I took note of the fact that everyone eating there was white and I can only assume that me being Korean had something to do with the fact that he was so abrupt and rude. Super bummed out that I missed out on a great German meal but if you're going to be racist I can spend my money elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
zero stars! I sent them a request for reservation and told them I will see a show nearby. The requested reservation (for 1 person) is over an hour before the show and the verbatim response: "Hello, what do you think? You want to get a meal in 10 minutes? Sorry - no."
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly staff, great food XL portions. Fortunately they can speak English and there English menu as well. I was sitting in front of kitchen and I saw they are using a lotta of oil for cooking so not a healthy food if you have some diet.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
Good service but food is not tasty :( potato salad was sour :( good mulled wine though
google avatar

Tyler L.

Yelp
If in the mood for something more substantial, Boulevard Fredrichstrasse provides the opportunity for a relaxed paced sit down meal more like a traditional German restaurant. There is ample beer and wine on the menu, and the dishes cover the big traditional German favorites like wurst sausages and schnitzel. Though it's in a somewhat toursity location in a touristy area, the food is actually quite good.
google avatar

Ac C.

Yelp
Great homemade food and quaint location! The price is awesome, given the quality and size of each portion. It is located a few steps from the overly touristic places in the river. They area family run business with great German food and the place has a great vibe with gorgeous plants and comfortable furniture. If you need a break on your way to Museum Island this restaurant is the perfect place.

Belal M.

Yelp
Went to this cute little German Restaurant late at night for dinner and beers. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They didn't mind when you substituted items or sides. We Had the Wiener schnitzel and the Spaetzle and cheese. The caramelized goat cheese is a must try as well.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
We ate here for dinner the first night in Berlin, then for lunch the next day too...the vibe is different for different times, and food is always delicious. For a fair price, some of the dishes like the Mixed Grill is such a huge portion. I recommend the steak with the sauce and hash browns. Beer is alway good too!
google avatar

Joshua M.

Yelp
Would have loved to try the restaurant but none of the wait staff would talk to me and they seated someone else who came up to them afterward. The worst service I have had at any restaurant. Great first night in Berlin.
google avatar

Brski B.

Yelp
Went with the pork schnitzel and chanterelles in an herb cream sauce with rosemary potatoes. This was quite perfect, crispy and rich - reminded me of Alsatian flavors. The salad was well seasoned and appropriately dressed. The date went with the half crispy duck in a mugwort gravy with red cabbage and potato dumplings. The duck was deboned and fall apart tender - quite good. The excellent dumplings were puffy and airy, unlike the dumplings we're accustomed to. Excellent service.

Yelp
Large size of food, very yummy with reasonable price. The place is nearby S Bahn station, easy to reach. I order Schnitzel, two large fried pork slice including sour potato and salad as shown in the pic.

Yelp
We arrived in Berlin on a Saturday afternoon and were absolutely starving! Most things were closed that day but we were lucky to have found this restaurant. We ordered the potato soup, mixed grill and the pork knuckle and they were all delicious!! Service was also great. The good food made for a nice start for our time in Berlin :)
google avatar

Yelp
Charming place near the river and Friedrichstrausse. Its small and quaint. Food is excellent. Service too. Very friendly. A great meal at a great price. We'd go back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
We stopped here to eat before a show. Asked if we could have a table for 2. He said in "No" we look around and see 3 empty tables nevertheless we go to leave then he says "ok, here" and points to a table. We watch he man visits three tables around us. The deliverers drinks to all the surrounding tables even the ones outside our window. 15-20 minutes go by and he hasn't even come up to ask us what we wanted to drink. Not sure if it was because we were American or what but, we got up and left. Still they didn't even acknowledge that we were leaving.

Yelp
Oh myyy... I got the roasted half duck, more luxurious and rich than I would normally pick but the server recommended it and I am happy she did, it was perfectly rich, sweet, and savory. Delicious food, decent price, and nice/low key atmosphere.

Yelp
Two for one! Whilst searching for a decent feed in Berlin I stumbled across YELP. It recommended the Boulevard Friedrichstrasse which I tried. It was fabulous. Authentic Berlin meal, superb beer and great atmosphere. I recommend Yelp and Boulevard Friedrichstrasse

Yelp
Authentic German restaurant for a pair price. Definitely recommend the Goulash, bit everything else looked good too!

Yelp
This place is very uncomplicated. Simple good quality food at reasonable prices. Quick and friendly service. The pork steak and potatoes I had was very tasty without being the largest portion. The deserts were again good. There is nothing amazing about this place but there is nothing bad either. Recommend if you want a quick, cheap meal of a good standard. That's why it's getting 3 stars.

Rob A.

Yelp
Best German meal ! Great service and food. Reasonably priced! A must go! The esibein and scnitzel were superb!

Eli G.

Yelp
I was looking for a viener schnizel. The viener schnizel served was high class. Recomended.

Yelp
A small restaurant with lots of outside seating. We ordered our usual veal, schnitzel, and steak. All the food was good but the steak was just ok. The schnitzel came with a German potato salad which was quite tasty. We had an amazing waiter who enjoyed joking around with us. The outside seating was very pleasant and relaxing. We decided to stay for desert. I got the blueberries with ice cream which I enjoyed. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
Food was excellent, authentic, and reasonably priced. Location was also ideal as it was just over the bridge from our hotel. Also right next to one of the main theaters in town. The interior was cozy and noise level ideal. My wife had a delicious plate of Schnitzel and I had an excellent fish dish. The best part, the service. The wait staff was friendly and genuine with their interactions and I would definitely recommend this for someone near the area looking for a great German meal. Stop in, grab a large beer, and enjoy the hospitality.

S T.

Yelp
It's a gem. Reasonably priced German food! We shared a large salad and duck entree and both were delicious and decent amount.

Jack W.

Yelp
Don't pay attention to the whiny Americans who are used to McDonald's mentality of fast food service. This place rocks excellent food quality and a nice relaxed European setting outdoors . Don't miss it !

Xinxin C.

Yelp
The service is perfect, dishes are perfect.I love the Chiritmas decoration of the restaurant -- sooooo cute.

Yelp
I have an extremely fond memory of this place. It was January 2009 and I was in Berlin for a work trip. I landed in the morning and made it through the day heavily caffeinated and tumbled into Boulevard Friedrichstrasse for dinner with a co-worker. Tired, we avoided alcohol but the manager insisted we'd have at least a 300ml (11 oz) bier. We didn't want to offend, so we had a few drinks. Dinner was great and the service was impeccable. It was the eisenapfel that sealed the deal, rich homemade vanilla ice cream, apple "filling", and something like advocaat (alcoholic egg nog). After that I went back to the Melia and slept for 12 hours. Can't wait to go back.

Shawn S.

Yelp
We chose this restaurant based on yelp reviews and it was only 2 train stops from the apartment we're staying at. We ordered the goulash and beef roulade, both of which were excellent. We shared an apple streuell which was also good. Entrees were on average 16eu each, and with dessert total bill was 42eu. Would definitely eat here again if we return to Berlin!

Michael N.

Yelp
Super Restaurant, leckeres Essen, freundliche Bedienung Rundherum alles sehr empfehlenswert Immer wenn ich in Berlin bin komme ich gerne hier her

Cindy C.

Yelp
The ambiance isn't great, but the food portions and desserts are incredible! The potato salad has little pieces of bacon in it and the schnitzel was perfect.
