"Nestled in Printer’s Alley, Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar serves up authentic Cajun and Creole food — like a shrimp and crawfish etouffee or fried alligator — and signature cocktails, including the Big Easy Hurricane, year-round. On Fat Tuesday starting at 4 p.m., the venue will transform into a Mardi Gras haven, with drinks, live music, a photo booth, beads, and more." - Bailee Mulder

My friend and I visited and aren’t super big into country music. So we decided to try printers Alley and find jazz music instead! We enjoyed Bourbon Street Blues and it’s eclectic hole in the wall atmosphere. I liked that there was a second floor that looked down over the stage so more people could see. The margaritas and mixed drinks were good, and they had a local cider that was delicious.

Came here late on a Saturday night after a long day at work. Bars were open and quick in service. Prices were reasonable. The band was awesome! It’s a small area but there’s two stories and we were able to get a good view of the stage wherever we sat. It was very loud but the vibes and energy were super positive. Recommend!

Google
Get ready for some fun. Great music and a great crowd. There’s a “mixed bag” of singers and musicians that get drawn and combined at random for a unique musical experience. Strangers became friends over great vibes and a variety of music. I’d love to go here again with a group of friends and maybe sign up to contribute my talents!

UK Visitor. Big Monti was a nice surprise - Our favourite music on a 1000 mile road trip. Outstanding. Stayed for the whole three hour set and sang along to every tune. Thank you. Nice vibe. Friendly.

Google
What a great spot to hit up a variety of music. It is a cozy quaint place where everyone is friendly and having fun. Shared tables are okay. A must stop on our visits to Nashville.

TOTALLY LOVED THIS PLACE!! Music was absolutely amazing!!! A must go to while you are in NAshville

Google
We popped into this place just to check it out.... and we didn't want to leave!! It was so much fun!! Our server, Majeska was absolutely amazing!!! The bands were fantastic and the drinks were perfect! We had reservations next door so we had to leave... but came right back after! Ended up spending a couple more hours! Highly highly recommend.

Google
Great spot for a change from country tunes. Smaller venue that does accept reservations for a small fee! If you wanna be sure of a table, we did this on one of our 3 visits to this venue. Did not eat here, but some of the dishes looked pretty good.

Tazeen S.

Yelp
Alright, listen up! This place? It's a blast! Live tunes, what more could you want? The venue itself sets the perfect vibe for a great night out. Now, let's talk about the food. Well no one comes here for the food but I have to let ya know, I ordered the shrimp po' boy... and let me tell you, it was incredible! Now, I'm usually pretty darn picky about my po' boys, (my Fav po boy spot is in the middle of Bourbon Street, New Orleans -- called NOLA poboys) But lemme tell ya, this spot ain't half bad! Sure, it's not quite NOLA level, but it's pretty darn close. And with the awesome live music and vibes all around, it's hard not to have a good time. Shoutout to our server - she was so sweet. Thanks for making our night! We are here every time we're in Nashville and will keep coming back.

Yelp
Experience a bit of Louisiana Cajun and Creole culture with a Bourbon Street flair at Bourbon Street Boogie Bar in Printer's Alley. This smoke-free venue has open seating, friendly staff, and great music with a live band seven days a week. The cover charge starts at approximately 7 p.m., depending on the day. I came here on a Saturday night, and our party of four lucked up to grab a table near the stage. It is a small venue with two stories, so seating is limited. However, it offers a welcoming environment, positive vibes, and an engaging, fun crowd. Check out their website for upcoming artists and events, drink specials, menus, and reservations. Tips are appreciated for the musicians, servers, and bartenders.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
This was a fun New Orleans style bar. Come early in the evening to grab a table because otherwise you will be standing for a while. This place gets packed! The musicians were great and so was the crowd. They played Blues and Rock, even some West Coast Hip-Hop! Great place in Printer's Alley if you get tired of the repetitive music on Broadway.

Michael M.

Yelp
We didn't have a lot of time in Nashville, sneaking out for an impromptu date night, and we actually ventured into Printer's Alley for a hot dog ( But they weren't open yet...), when the sound of live music beckoned to us and in we went... Our bartender was great, pointing out a couple seats at the end of the bar we had not yet seen, and super friendly, despite the crowd keeping her busy. I had a 'Boogielicious' while Spensyr opted for the 'Spicy Hurricane', and both of us were happy. Oh, that live music I mentioned? Gil Gann was tearing it up! Best vibe we felt in all of Nashville !

Christina M.

Yelp
Walked in and immediately ordered a Mystery Shot (don't worry, it tastes delicious. Almost like a jolly rancher) and then got slapped in the soul by the AMAZING band, Sweet Lizzy Project. This place just felt magical. There weren't many seats but it didn't even matter because everybody was so in the moment listening to the music and enjoying themselves. Truly a great experience and one that I'm thankful to have.

David W.

Yelp
Great musical show, great atmosphere, great drinks, wonderful service... An absolutely wonderful time had by all! My new favorite place in Nashville!

Wood W.

Yelp
Best music spot in Nashville. Period. I love Broadway, but there's no better music spot than this!

Agnew D.

Yelp
If you are a native, newcomer or visiting Nashville, this is a place you must visit. Touristy--Yes. Good for locals,-Yes. Good food and drinks-Yes&Yes. Best of all is the live music all day and night. The vibe is the perfect atmosphere for a good time, anytime. Crowded-Yes. Dance floor-small, but that makes it even better to get up close and personal to the bands. The Super T Review & Stacy Mitchart are great shows and worth the crowd..

Maggie C.

Yelp
Only came for live music, 5$ cover. Free water. Pretty busy for a Thursday night but I had a nice time sitting at the bar!

Paul R.

Yelp
Truly a (not so hidden) gem in Nash. If you dig the blues and need a break from the Broadway shenanigans, head over to BSBs. Tuesday night we arrived figuring it would be kind of quiet. Not so, the two bands we listened to were just jamming. The following night we went with a larger group and we were treated to an epic night of the blues. This venue is pretty compact but there is also balcony seating. However, they will get packed as the night proceeds. Even with a full house, our server was always available to order drinks and food. Speaking of food they do have a cajun-inspired menu that's OK. One does not come here for the cuisine but to jam out to the blues. Pro tip: If Stacy Mitchhart's band is playing run don't walk to BSBs.

Ashlee S.

Yelp
Service was phenomenal and the drinks were so good! A great place for a bride to be to go to. The live music was amazing!

Christian C.

Yelp
Absolute Five Stars! Monday evening open jam night is the time for me:) I've been a handful of times in my travels and hit a jam or open mic any chance I can get. I've always received a generous welcome. The house band and the local regulars are seriously top notch (as you'd expect in this town:) and it's an honor to share a stage with such pros, but then they give you the mic, allow you to drive, back you up with passion/enthusiasm. Wow. Hoping my band can be booked there one day!

Nicola P.

Yelp
We checked out this music bar in Nashville's Printers Alley because in was a 5 minute walk from our hotel. We visited here Sunday 9/24/23 about 5pm. This area is an eclectic street full of music, art, & photo shoots. Everything from blues, boogie, cajun & creole to field holler country music. This was dimly light and everyone seemed to have that neon bar light complexion. a trio of musicians was hitting their stride and by their banter with the audience seem to be enjoying their regular gig. We were only here for the music & drinks. Comfortable, no frills, but cold beers & good music. Hours: Mon & Tue open at 4pm. Wed-Sun open at 11am. No cover charge. This is a walking area. We didn't see any public parking nearby. Fun place for drinks & music. Check it out. Thanks to the staff. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY USA

Diana V.

Yelp
Did not take advantage of eating there. But the bar was hopping. Live Jazz music and cold beer.

Cara M.

Yelp
I'm not exaggerating when I say that people were literally dancing out the door of this place. The wait to get in was well worth it, as the band played song after song of the most danceable hits from the last 40 years. It was crowded without feeling unsafe or even overly touristy (but, coming from a tourist, I suppose you should take that with a grain of salt.)

Deborah L.

Yelp
If you're in Nashville and you want to hear great music in a fun setting add this place to your list! We went back 2 different nights.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Totally an experience, we walked in about 9pm ordered some drinks and sat around listening to blues with a great band that was on stage performing. Drinks were ok, i suppose a beer would have been a better bet but everwas happy enjoying the sounds of blues.

Amy S.

Yelp
Music and food here were amazing!!!! Small place but jam packed with fun. Never been to this part of downtown Nashville before but it will certainly be a repeat for us any time we are in town.

Shavonne H.

Yelp
Such a fun place in Nashville for some good music, fun people, good drinks, and good food. I live in North Carolina, but have a friend who lives Nashville and I love the city and always look forward to visiting her. My friend and I are both in to all genres of music, but especially love soulful music, so when she took me here the first time I visited a few years ago I fell in love and we make it a point to come here every time I visit. Located in Printers Alley away from the chaos of Broadway and in the perfect location for a venue like this. Although it is not on Broadway it's not far from it so easy to travel if you want a change of scenery. What I love about Printers Alley is that is has so much character and doesn't even feel like Nashville at all. You really feel like you're in a totally different city, but beware there is a lot of cobblestone. The venue isn't huge, but it fits the mood and scenery. There's plenty of seating and an upstairs that opens up to easily see the stage as well, although the upstairs is not always open. As with most places in Nashville, expect live music and a full band that's so good and entertaining. I'm not a big fan of live music, unless I am in Nashville. The vibes are always great and the people are amazing whether it be staff or patrons. What I love about this place is that you can find all kinds of people here. The drinks are good and the food is also good. I've only gotten food once and enjoyed it, but would love to try more things on the menu. This place can get packed, but it's sooooo worth it. It's a must on my Nashville trips.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible spot for live music even on a Tuesday. I couldn't recommend the gator bites more which are INCREDIBLE and the best I've ever had, so good we ordered it twice! Their po boy was a great addition to top it off with a good amount of bread, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes to go with perfectly breaded/fried shrimp. Since we sat upstairs, we had a great view of the live band and ordered straight from the upstairs bar. Everything service wise was quick for drinks but took a little bit of time for food which was understandable since it was fried. Overall this is the place you wanna come and I was lucky enough to be visiting friends that are in the music scene and locals to Nashville. Pro tip: they have an upstairs male/female bathroom as it's a single men's bathroom downstairs and a line forms when it gets busy:

Darryl T.

Yelp
This places was surprisingly good. We weren't looking for a bar just walking down the alley our first night in Nashville and the doorman invited us in. We went in and found some seats upstairs. Drinks were pretty good and there was decent food. Live band in the stage a was s pretty good. There is live music every night. Bartender was was real nice.. all of the people we met there were cool. This is a very cool place too hang out .

Curtis R.

Yelp
This 3 tier bar was swinging when we arrived and swinging when we left. We went here for some pre-entertainment and drinks before heading over to see Little Feat at the Ryman Auditorium. Had a great band and the place was rockin. They serve bar food and seemed to have lots of party girls dancing up a storm. Will go back next time in Nashville. Great music atmosphere and the bartenders were on the ball. Giving this place a 4 star for the quality of music atmosphere.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Must visit for anyone looking for great live music, especially if you're not necessarily a country fan. It's all around an awesome spot, order the spicy hurricane!

Amy L.

Yelp
We had so much fun here! We were so Lucky to get a table on second level up from the stage. The band was phenomenal , playing the best music and putting on the best show! Stacy played the guitar like a wild man , doing Led Zeppelin and any side with a true Blues style! We loved the other musicians as well, great variety and talent

Elliot H.

Yelp
One of my favorite bars in town. Make sure you don't need reservations before you go. Food is good too.

Lisa W.

Yelp
$5 cover for good music seemed reasonable until we got it and found absolutely no place to sit or even stand. They are one fire away from a stampede and many deaths. Also, they kept letting lots more people in even after I let them know there was no room and they were well above for code.

Deanne B.

Yelp
Excellent place to listen to some great musicians. Never disappointed. Never had food there but the drinks are always cold. Small venue. Few bad seats. Bathroom is a little sketchy. Lol Our friends live this place too. Off the beaten path. It can fill up on the weekend. Definitely a place that brings the blues and jazz to Nashville.

Austin E.

Yelp
Make the journey down to Printers Alley to enjoy the music and vibe of Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie. Trust. It's worth it! While different than the bars of Broadway, this one does not disappoint. We stumbled upon it after busting Skull's. This friendly and no nonsense bar will deliver with great music, strong drinks and allow you to make some pretty awesome memories. We came back the second night in town and met bartender Heather, who remembered every drink and wouldn't let us leave her bar without a smile. We called friends to join us here. This is worth the 3 minute hike from the hot spots. Food = good and fried. Drinks = standard but solid. Ask for Heather and try to see the band with Alex Kramer. All your favorites will be played! More blues than country, but worth every minute. Your trip to Nashville wouldn't be complete without a visit here.

Jon S.

Yelp
Saw some quality music in the afternoon! Some nice blues in a city dominated by country. Bartender excellent too!

Alex T.

Yelp
First night, after landing around midnight and got my car situated and then check into hotel. Time for a drink and some late night snack. So made it 7 mins before the kitchen closes. . What did I ordered ? - grilled cheese sandwich for like 5 bucks. It was so good, there was a cheese pull. The bartender and I was looking at the cheese pull and she was like that looks good! It was! Can't go wrong.. . -voodoo wings - sweet and spicy bbq style. They were normal and nothing special, just your wings and it was 6 bucks. . Drinks . -yuengling - lager beer from PA, it was nice and cold and refreshing. Don't know how much it cost but it was under domestic beer. I would get this beer again. . My whole bill was 27 bucks for 3 yuengling beers, wings, grilled cheese sandwich. And a show with live band. The live band was awesome! They played purple rain! I was like only if wifey was here to bust up giggling. It was a nice experience and this place closes around 230am and kicked everybody out, so not really 3am. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day!

Jessica G.

Yelp
Absolutely enjoyed it. It's tough to get a table. We lucked out and snagged a table as some people were leaving. Service was good and attentive. Prices were good. I ordered the shrimp and crawfish Etouffee. Delish! Sorry I forgot to take pictures. Chicken and andouille sausage gumbo was also yummy alongside the chicken sandwich and fries. Fries were different. Very tasty without too much salt. For drinks we got the buckets. Worth the price.

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
The food was excellent. My wife and I loved the establishment's ambiance. The music was perfect. We love the sound of the band and live singer. This is a place we could attend again.

Brian J.

Yelp
Even though we were only in Nashville on this trip for 5 nights we spent 2 at this joint! GREAT MUSIC!!! Friendly staff and decent prices on cocktails. Of our group of 6 it was voted the best joint in Nashville by at least half of us. Will be back on all future trips to Nashville.

Caroline H.

Yelp
This place was so fun. We went on a Saturday while we were visiting Nashville and we were able to just walk in. It stays busy so expect no seat. They also take reservations. I would also tell the people who like wearing heels to not wear them here. The concrete going to the place is rough and again no seats if you do not have reservations. The place is fairly tiny so you get close and comfortable with people around you. There is a bar area, area in front of the stage and there is a balcony seating area as well. We didn't go up to the balcony to see how big it was. The cover charge was $10. They had food and drinks. Even had drjnk specials. Everyone I saw with food, smashed it so it must've been good. We didn't get any but should have. On Saturday nights, they have a band that starts around 7 and then another one around 10p. We were there for the 10p blues band and they were amazing. They have a good line up of performers so I don't think any time is a bad time. Whenever I am back in town, I will be sure to visit again.

Miriam S.

Yelp
Super fun bar with great music and ambiance. Drinks and good are decently priced. Definitely need to visit if you're in the area.

Debra K.

Yelp
Five for music. Four for food. Three for service (but it was crowded and PACKED with Saints fans that were in town for the game). It's a small place with a two-story feel but it does seem like you're packed in. Food was OK. Actually seemed like a lot. Music was fantastic!!!!

Denise S.

Yelp
GREAT MUSIC!! Sweet servers & kinda too sweet famous drinks. Has a great time & too many pecan rye old fashions!!! Go!!!

Stacie W.

Yelp
A little bit of NOLA in Nashville. The bar is divey and the music is bluesy. We had a great time and the band was awesome.

Dave D.

Yelp
Man I really hate to do this ... Bridal parties and Broadway tourists probably not your thing so don't wander up this far west. Please. ========*******===**=***=====*===== Others read on - one of the best unique-for-nashville music events that is reserved for blues/great music lovers. Locals, regular folk and music lovers pack this place. There are so many reasons to come here - amazing slice of artists, great vibe, N.O. food bites, less expensive drinks, and alley outside late night seating to drink and people watch. One of my favorite local music spots - be sure to check out Monday open nights when so many folks stop in. Make sure to tip the bar and musicians lots - this place deserves so many accolades. But shhh, only tell your best friends and let's keep this place special!!

Jorge A.

Yelp
Cool bar, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Good place to walk in and enjoy music and have a drink. Highly recommend this bar. Check out the second floor as it overlooks the band playing.

Christine Z.

Yelp
Amazing place. Make the trip over and enjoy it. Chill vibe and good music. Staff is incredible too.

Camille R.

Yelp
What a cool establishment for good music! This is Nashville but it is not short of good music of all kinds. This location is tucked in a very well lit alley with other bar establishments. There is a paid parking area that you utilize via an app. There is no cover charge and you seat yourself. Plenty of seating inside the establishment. They will check your ID, so ensure you have it. The waitress was nice the drinks come in little white cups and get ready for some great music! Enjoyed my evening at the Bourbon street blues.

Mike S.

Yelp
Great cozy/friendly atmosphere. We came here because neither of us are big country music fans. Caught a bluesy cover band on Monday night which started on time at 8pm. Standing room only by 8:15p. The coolest part was the open musicians night that started at 9p. For 45 min we heard 5 strangers replace the five members of the house band and finish their set to standing ovation. The drummer was 70; the keyboardist was 18(?) and the three guitar players were 25, 35, and 50 years old. Only in Nashville! The second set of five strangers was nearly as good too. We left by 10p. No cover but we ordered beers and tipped the collection bucket on stage, as did most patrons... what a deal!

Rhonda R.

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this place on a Wednesday night looking for food. Went in, looked around and there was no one in there who looked like us (if u know what I mean). Grabbed a shot from the bar, left to look for food but was unsuccessful. Went back and asked the person at the door if the bar sold food and they said to go upstairs. Went upstairs and it was much better. Grabbed more shots, ordered food and more shots. I ordered the shrimp basket and my friend had the gator bites basket. Both were good. The fries were amazing! Seemed homemade. The bartender was hella cool ( AA woman with locs). It ended up being the highlight of our trip. We had so much fun that we went back Thursday night and did it all over again. The crowd was much more diverse that night. I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Nashville. The drinks, food and music are great!

Cathy K.

Yelp
Favorite venue in Nashville. Located in Printer's Alley somewhat tucked away from rowdy Broadway. Still lively but a little less traffic. Lucky us, After 5 Tux? was playing a doublet set. Very limited seating even in the second level. Loved the hurricanes, standard menu. Personally, I find the crowd here much more welcoming and inclusive for BIPOC. One dude barged into the Womens bathroom and started peeing in the sink and garbage, 2 of the ladies tried warning me and asked if I was ok... this is a level of comradery I'm not sure I'd find at the other bars on Broadway, but surely appreciated. The wait staff and servers are also very welcoming and checked in often.

Marissa B.

Yelp
The bartender was possibly the rudest, meanest person, and gave the most absurd service I have ever received in Nashville or in general. I'm a local, and I came in to see music, $5 cover. I/my sister go to the bar and the bartender is short/rude but it's fine. The two of us try to take an open seat at the bar, which a couple gladly told us we could take once they left, and all of a sudden it's "reserved" for someone (the bartender said). I ask if we can sit there until they arrive I got no answer. The "couple" comes by about 15 mins later and takes our seats. They stay maybe 5 minutes at most and don't say anything. They leave the building. So we take our seats back. I get screamed at that I shouldn't be sitting down. So I back off, but someone else not even in our group tries to sit in the chair afterwards and the bartender actually yells at her, walks around, and blocks off both chairs. It's a shame because it's a cool bar, with great music, but for $25 for 2 small drinks and awful bartenders I will never be back.

Grace A.

Yelp
A total dive but absolutely worth the visit for some stellar blues music. If you're a little tired of thank same ol HONKEY TONK, but still wanna vibe to some live music, this is the place. Get ready to order your drinks New Orleans style!

Jessica W.

Yelp
Loved !! This spot did not disappoint...but get there early on Saturday because you will be standing! So fun though and such a variety of people and music. This by far was my favorite spot in Nashville! Oh and get the okra!

KayLee G.

Yelp
Absolutely worst bar ever been too, never come here!! The bar tenders are horrible and drinks are watered down! Don't even play blue only played rock and roll but they charge a cover! Only bar in Nashville that charges a cover fee, way better bars without the cover and better drinks.

Indigo P. N.

Yelp
Cool little place to hang out. But I felt like I walked into a whole batch of covid cases. Actually took a covid test that morning. Will take my final one Wednesday. It's apparent I'm not used to getting back out yet. But what I did like about the place that we really earned five stars were the people! Man they were so friendly! I guess I wasn't a fan of drinks served in plastic cups. And there was hardly any seating. Which totally brought this down to three stars. It was like a fight for your life for seating LOL. Depending on the band I'm a come back.
