Bovine

Bovine is an upstairs restaurant on the main street of Portloaise. The decor is a combination of stone and white washed walls. It has that rustic feel about it. The staff were busy they had a number of tables including a party of 8. We ordered the Hot Honey Buffalo Chicken Tenders as a starter and got Crispy Chilli Chicken Tenders. We ate them anyway, they were delicious, really good. Then we had the Black & Blue burger it had 2 smashed patties, Clonakilty black pudding, Cashel blue cheese, lettuce, pickles, Bovine sauce and Ballymaloe relish and I have to say it was the best burger I have ever eaten. Accompanied with Garlic Parmesan Fries and absolutely delicious, really tasty. We really enjoyed the food, the wait between courses was long though, we were hungry and from time of arrival it was 50 minutes before we got our main meal.

The best burgers in the midlands !! We’ve been here a few times now and we are never disappointed. The burgers are expensive- €11.50 is the cheapest burger with no fries. However I think it is absolutely worth it. The chicken tenders are also delicious. We will be back again!

Wow! The burgers here are absolutely fantastic. Smash burgers done right! I've toured 3 smash burger places in Galway and 2 in Dublin and this is top 2, if not top. The Garlic Parmesan fries are unreal also. Highly highly reccomend the burgers!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a charming burger joint located on the first floor of the city center in Portlaoise. After reading some promising reviews, I decided to give it a try, and I was not disappointed. The ambience of the restaurant is incredibly cozy, with dim lighting that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family. I ordered the crispy chilli chicken tenders, a honey buffalo chicken burger, and a kids' meal. The chicken tenders were a standout, with impeccable flavor, spices, and crispiness that made every bite a delight. The honey buffalo chicken burger, while cooked to perfection, was slightly underwhelming in terms of fillings, but still enjoyable. Both the potato fries and sweet potato fries were excellently cooked, perfectly crispy, and paired wonderfully with the accompanying sauces. The staff at the restaurant were exceptionally kind and approachable, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. If you ever find yourself in Portlaoise and are in the mood for some tasty, crispy chicken, I highly recommend this place. It's definitely worth a visit for the chicken tenders alone!

Loved it here. The pulled pork burger is to die for. The chips were fab too - i tasted the normal fries & the sweet potato ones. Top class. Quiet at the time we were there. Nice vibes, lovely style

As an American, I've ate burgers all across the states but I can't say any have ranked as high as the burger I had here. I had the chili burger and it was Perfectly cooked and very tasty.

The food was exceptional, especially the hamburgers which were among the best we've ever had. They were flavorful, with high-quality ingredients that complemented each other perfectly. The potatoes were also delicious, very crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, just the way we like them. The churros were fantastic as well. Overall, it was a memorable culinary experience that we wholeheartedly recommend.

best burger in Ireland now imo. Love our one in Kilkenny but this one was extra special. The staff were lovely, attentive and chatty! Room as a little cold on a horrible windy day is my only complaint! 10/10 will be there again ;)
