A Members-Only Cafe for Dogs Is Now Open | Eater NY

"An Eastern Mediterranean restaurant from LA’s Silver Lake neighborhood has quietly opened at 359 W. Broadway, at Broome Street. The restaurant from George Abou-Daoud first opened on the West Coast in 2014 and serves items like tahini toast, smoked hen-of-the-woods mushrooms, ful, lamb kofta, “cast-iron Mideast chicken,” and more." - Melissa McCart

Ambiance (5/5): We were greeted by the establishment’s dog who was sitting in the seat to greet guests! Apparently their LA location also has another doggo. The interior is absolutely gorgeous with the vines on the walls, to the rustic panels, and décor. There’s a bar in the back with bar seating but almost everyone was sitting in the dining area. It is quiet, easy to converse, dimly lit setting. Service (4/5): Upon request, we asked for our server’s (Oscar) favorites on the menu, and obliged. Oscar made it sound like the plates should be shared but the entrée plates are very large and so expensive for what we had. It was difficult to get service at different parts of the evening. Nevertheless, Oscar was super professional, courteous, and wonderful. One man for multiple tables is going to be tough to run no matter what. Tahini Toast $17 (5/5): Wow this was a slam-dunk dish!! It is very hefty but has a lot of different flavors, texture, and a wonderful presentation. Labneh Mexican Corn $18 (3/5): While the cheese was wonderful, the dish was very heavy/rich. I really couldn’t have too many bites of it. For $18, I was expecting more quantity or something else. It was a very small dish of corn but it does come with a plate of sliced warm pita. Lamb Kofta $38 (1/5): Holy moly, the kofta meat was unbelievably salty to point it was inedible. I told our waiter this and he kindly was able to comp the dish. Thankfully, was able to get the message back to the kitchen. We could not enjoy this dish. Chicken Parm $34 (4/5): This dish was well-done with the chicken cutlet’s perfect breaded exterior and aleppo pepper tomato sauce was a wonderful accompaniment! Everything about the chicken was FIRE. The grilled pieces of broccolini were cooked poorly—they were super chewy and also hardly edible. It was such a shame that this experience was not what I had hoped. The dishes seemed way too expensive for what we had. Some were hits and others were just okay. If there is any way to make the dishes cheaper/smaller, it would be more family-style friendly. I recommend this spot with more than 2 people so you can try more of their dishes family-style.

Long time listener, first time caller. We walked in as we were waiting for some time to pass to go out for the night, and found this gem. We ordered espresso martinis off of their bar menu. This has by far been the BEST ESPRESSO MARTINI WE HAVE EVER HAD. - —— NOV update ——- Had to circle back to confirm my findings. This is by far the best espresso martini in the world. That is all. Best ever. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk

My absolute favorite new date spot in the SoHo area, they are serving up a unique fusion of Mediterranean dishes that you have to taste to believe Start with the tahini toast definitely get those baby back ribs and the shrimp here is outrageous. All have unique twists that you won’t find anywhere else

Brought my team here for a dinner and we had so much fun! The atmosphere is really beautiful and the service was amazing. The food had great variety as well. We shared several small dishes and several meats which covered all our people and made it feel like a really comfortable family style dinner. Highly recommend!

My husband and I randomly went to the city and found this hidden gem! The food is sooo amazingly delicious 😍 we had the lamb with pita and hummus and the bronzinno. I usually dont like the fish, but we ate that all up! The food was enough to share between two people and the drinks were sooo good! I am coming back because the menu changes every season!

I returned with some friends to enjoy drinks at the bar, and we chose to have dinner as well. Elvis, our bartender, is fantastic; he serves excellent cocktails and is both friendly and respectful. I'm very delighted the weird bartender is no longer there. We ate dinner in the main room; it has beautiful decoration, and if you're not sure what to eat or drink, simply follow Oscar's recommendations. Tahini toast, banagaboush, lamb kofta, and brazino are all delicious. The espresso martini is a must. Fantastic music and customer service. I don't generally write reviews, but this place merits one. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews; they are undoubtedly fraudulent and do not reflect the true nature of this establishment. I'll be back shortly.

Yelp
Must try! Bowery Bungalow feels like a hidden gem that somehow balances cozy neighborhood charm with the polish of a downtown hot spot. The food is where this place really shines. Every dish tasted fresh, balanced, and thoughtfully composed. I ordered the short rib, which melted apart at the touch of my fork, layered with deep flavor that lingered in the best way. My friend went for the roasted branzino--light, perfectly cooked, and paired with a citrus-herb sauce that stole the show. Even the small plates were standouts!! Attentive without hovering, quick with recommendations, and genuinely friendly in a way that made the whole experience feel personal. Bowery Bungalow is the kind of spot that makes you wish you lived closer just so you could drop in regularly. This place hits all the right notes. Absolutely worth the five star!

Yelp
Stopped in for a couple of drinks and had a great experience. The drinks were delicious, but what really stood out was the service. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating -- they even let us sit at a table since the bar area was full. The food smelled amazing, even though we didn't order any this time. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely consider coming back. Feel free to wear jeans and a nice shirt.

Yelp
Stopped by here as we had some time to kill before dinner. We saw that there was a happy hour (on a Saturday evening too!) and stepped right in. There wasn't any seating at the bar and a host named Oscar let my group of 4 sit at a table and still partake in happy hour. It was perfect because we could converse without it being too noisy. I got the Gin Gimlet which was really well made. Oscar's passion and charisma for the restaurant really made us want to stay to have dinner but we had already made reservations elsewhere. I will be back to try the food!

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Bowery Bungalow! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had discovered one of New York's true hidden gems. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy and stylish--warm lighting, thoughtful decor, and an inviting vibe that makes you want to stay all evening. The food is absolutely next-level. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu has a creative flair without being overcomplicated, and you can tell the chef really cares about balance and presentation. My personal favorite was the ribs, perfectly seasoned, tender, and beautifully plated. Even the smaller details, like the house-made dips and fresh bread, were unforgettable. Service was just as outstanding. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. They had great recommendations for both food and drinks, which made the whole dining experience feel personalized. Overall, Bowery Bungalow is the kind of place you want to tell everyone about, but also secretly hope stays just under the radar so you can always get a table. An absolute must-visit in New York--I'll definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Really nice ambiance. Service was fine, a bit slow at points. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. Good experience overall though.

Yelp
For food alone, this place is an easy 5. Really delicious dishes, not a miss among everything ordered. Service, however, was fairly poor. Our water glasses sat empty for a portion of the night, drinks were delayed, first round of pita was dropped with promises of "endless pita," which was only refilled towards the very end of our meal while the plate sat empty for most of the meal and the main courses took a VERY long time to come out. Visited shortly after it opened, so hoping that has resolved, because this place really is a must visit for the food.

Yelp
Lovely spot! The drinks were great, the appetizer (Fried Cauliflower) yummy, and the bartender Nicolas, superb. Go! That's it.

Yelp
I was supposed to meet a friend here. There's some a few ugly blue chairs and tables outside that was labelled "do not sit. Display only." Idk why it was there for decor purposes across the restaurant, next to the garbage but I digress. I put my bag onto the table while standing up waiting for my friend. The girl working there let me rest my one bag, thank you, Kind Lady. Next thing you know, some idiot came running out from the restaurant to shoo my stuff off the table. Hospitality needs some help. Maybe I sound like a Karen but whatever. He was so rude about it. I just ended up calling my friend to go somewhere else. Oh well. Bro, if your restaurant was hustling and bustling like the ones around you on a Tuesday night, I would sort of understand the hostility. But come on ... If y'all act like that with a bag on the table outside the restaurant, I don't want to stay around to find out how you guys will handling my food. Ain't no way!

Yelp
Amazing food, service and ambiance. Definitely eclectic and delicious! We went for my birthday it was an awesome experience: love the interior too!

Yelp
A restaurant that feeds your soul, not just your stomach. My fiancé and I stumbled across Bowery Bungalow while walking through Soho, and we were instantly drawn in by a regal black dog named Jack lounging outside like the unofficial mayor of the block. That's how it started -- but what we found inside was magic. This place is a masterclass in intention. Every bite of food, every design detail, every song on the playlist -- it all feels purposeful. I'm vegetarian, and I usually have to compromise when dining out. Not here. The vegetarian options are some of the most flavor-rich, inventive dishes I've ever had. The tahini toast felt like a warm hug with a cool breeze. The spiced potatoes hit all the right notes -- salt, fat, acid, heat. The Mexican street corn was a total reinvention that still felt familiar. But it's not just the food -- it's the vibe. Bowery Bungalow isn't trying to be trendy. It just is. The decor is full of personality and cinematic charm. The music is a journey -- one moment you're vibing to Daft Punk, the next you're Shazaming something you wish you'd known forever. The space is cozy and intimate but somehow still airy and open. And the best part? No one's rushing you. You're meant to stay. We sat, talked, lingered, and felt completely at home. Everyone there -- guests and staff -- seemed like they wanted to be there. And that's rare. If you're looking for a restaurant that feels alive with story, culture, and joy -- this is it. Bowery Bungalow is a vibe. Jack is the vibe. The food is unforgettable. The atmosphere is healing. We'll be back. Again and again. - Amresse F.

Yelp
Very disappointing overall--Rude, abrupt & practically hostile service (even on an uncrowded Tuesday evening). Also, we've never heard of a restaurant refusing cash payments--why? The Mediterranean fusion menu was just awkward--who wants spicy chicken Parmesan? Trying to be innovative, perhaps, but it doesn't work. Would neither return nor recommend.

Yelp
Had such a great dinner here the other night! Went on a Saturday night and it's the perfect spot for a fun dinner before a night out. The cocktails are great and the food is all perfect for sharing. Loved the espresso martini, labneh with mexican street corn and the chicken parm. All have a very creative take on Mediteranean dishes. Definitley recommend for a group dinner or date night!

Yelp
Great food, great drinks, great vibe! Quintessential neighborhood spot in Soho. Shishkatori was A+!

Yelp
PERFECT addition to the neighborhood!! From the service to the ambiance and incredible food, 10/10. Every dish we had was so flavorful we're already planning our next visit to try more things! The bar also is super cute, yum!
