Ambiance (5/5): We were greeted by the establishment’s dog who was sitting in the seat to greet guests! Apparently their LA location also has another doggo. The interior is absolutely gorgeous with the vines on the walls, to the rustic panels, and décor. There’s a bar in the back with bar seating but almost everyone was sitting in the dining area. It is quiet, easy to converse, dimly lit setting.
Service (4/5): Upon request, we asked for our server’s (Oscar) favorites on the menu, and obliged. Oscar made it sound like the plates should be shared but the entrée plates are very large and so expensive for what we had. It was difficult to get service at different parts of the evening. Nevertheless, Oscar was super professional, courteous, and wonderful. One man for multiple tables is going to be tough to run no matter what.
Tahini Toast $17 (5/5): Wow this was a slam-dunk dish!! It is very hefty but has a lot of different flavors, texture, and a wonderful presentation.
Labneh Mexican Corn $18 (3/5): While the cheese was wonderful, the dish was very heavy/rich. I really couldn’t have too many bites of it. For $18, I was expecting more quantity or something else. It was a very small dish of corn but it does come with a plate of sliced warm pita.
Lamb Kofta $38 (1/5): Holy moly, the kofta meat was unbelievably salty to point it was inedible. I told our waiter this and he kindly was able to comp the dish. Thankfully, was able to get the message back to the kitchen. We could not enjoy this dish.
Chicken Parm $34 (4/5): This dish was well-done with the chicken cutlet’s perfect breaded exterior and aleppo pepper tomato sauce was a wonderful accompaniment! Everything about the chicken was FIRE. The grilled pieces of broccolini were cooked poorly—they were super chewy and also hardly edible.
It was such a shame that this experience was not what I had hoped. The dishes seemed way too expensive for what we had. Some were hits and others were just okay. If there is any way to make the dishes cheaper/smaller, it would be more family-style friendly. I recommend this spot with more than 2 people so you can try more of their dishes family-style.
