Google
A really outstanding acai bowl! This was my first time here. I came while visiting SF on a recommendation from a local, and this did not disappoint. I've had quite a few bowls over the years and this is up there in quality. Plenty of toppings with a good ratio to yummy, flavor-packed base. Their menu looked to have several good options, but I wanted to try the OG, and I was very satisfied with that. Service was fast and friendly, and the place had a cool, minimalistic vibe and a few outdoor tables. Bonus points for the compostable and recyclable consciousness.

If you're looking for a fresh, nourishing, and flavorful meal, Bowl Acai is a must-visit. This spot goes way beyond your average smoothie bar — it's a full-on superfood haven. Their rice bowls are incredibly satisfying, with options like ahi tuna, chicken, and beef that are not only delicious but responsibly sourced. Each bowl is well-balanced, packed with fresh veggies, and customizable with superfood add-ons that take things to the next level. The acai bowls are just as impressive — thick, not too sweet, and loaded with vibrant toppings. Perfect as a meal or a refreshing treat. Don’t miss their smoothies, which are seriously some of the best around — rich, creamy, and made with real ingredients. Plus, their organic cold brew is strong and smooth, perfect for a midday pick-me-up. Bonus points for offering pasture-raised chicken and beef broth — a rare find and a warm, nourishing option, especially on cooler days. Whether you’re eating clean, refueling after a workout, or just craving something delicious and nutrient-packed, Bowl Acai delivers. Highly recommend!

Google
The Açai bowl was the best one I’ve ever had. Great location and friendly staff. It’s a bustling spot with lots of people passing by. A few seats inside and outside so you can sit and people watch at your leisure. I thought it was good value too with the bowl only costing $12. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to return already!

Google
I had their poke bowl at the Alameda Antique Fair. I think in a rush to get orders out, they drenched the poke and spinach bowl with way too much sesame oil. Sesame oil is super fatty and it made me feel ill after. I would beware of the amount of sesame oil they are using for their poke bowls especially for folks that can’t eat high fat food due to stomach issues.

Google
I love their acai bowls but I was craving something savory so I got their plant warrior protein bowl which comes with plant based chorizo, brown rice, spinach and green onion. I love how simple yet flavorful this bowl was, make sure to ask for sauce on the side if you want it spicy. I will say it is a bit pricey ($17) for the portion you get, but it's plant based and tastes amazing, so can't complain. The place itself is small, and up to 4-5 people can sit inside, so it seems more of a to-go spot. The staff here are also very kind and welcoming.

Google
The açaí was great—refreshing and flavorful. The sweetness level was just perfect. The toppings added to it were crunchy, tasty, and really elevated the whole experience. If the açaí were assembled in more defined layers, it would make it even better, allowing you to enjoy each component in every bite.

Google
They set up their truck at our Orindas farmers market every Saturday. I literally dream about the great white (poke). Its the best. Hands down. The brown rice and macadamia nuts push it above any other poke options out there. Thanks guys! See you next Saturday :)

Google
Bowl'd has got yo be the best açaí bowl I've ever had in my life!! Get the OG, you won't regret it! On my mama, on my hood this place is fire!! 😆☺️

Yelp
Huge fan of the Açaí bowls! (This review is only reflected of them and not the other offerings as I've never deviated from what I LOVE) Super fresh, filling & flavorful bowls that i can never finish in one sitting, because they are substantial. The service is super quick and super super friendly! I typically order for pickup as I'm walking there. They do have several tables inside and out for seating if you'd like to enjoy your goods there. It's super quaint with a tropical vibe. Bowl'd is always consistent, so if you're nearby and need a healthy fix, definitely head here.

Yelp
At the Polk Gulch looking for a source of energy to recharge my batteries ( this also included my phone). Since I needed a boost so I decided to grab the Rocket Fuel at Bowl'd Açaí . The Rocket Fuel smoothie has a microdose of coffee ,banana , peanut butter, vanilla and house made almond milk. A few sips my mind was lit up and ready for take off with no turbulence. The taste was good and I enjoyed the different flavor mixed combinations inside the cup. The inside of Bowl'd Açaí brick and mortar had the booming system sound vibe bumping and playing some really good vibing music. I was getting a brain storm inside their rainforest decor. I also like their motto at Bowl'd Açaí as they referred themselves as the "Original Gangster"( I know , I can relate). The other drinks I like to try is the Hella Green ( sounds like lots of one of my favorite colors " Green" in San Francisco). They also offer Beef Broth and have shots like in the "vaccine shot" and the" cold assassin". They have Açaí Bowls and Poke Bowls. They also have a good Happy Hour menu. A good place for a pick me up and to an enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and for people watching. Go to the O.G Bowl'd Açaí on Polk and get either duo: Hella Green or the Rocket Fuel A few sips you will start feeling the transformation and a boost from the O.G energy renewal

Yelp
I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon wanting an acai bowl. The interior is super cute with a few tables and the ordering window. The vibes are very tropical with vine decorations and light club music playing. There are also 4 outdoor tables for when it's nice outside. The lady at the ordering window was super friendly and it only took about 2 minutes for my bowl to come out. The bowl itself was exactly what I was wanting. The fruit on top was super fresh and they give a ton of the actual acai as well, it's not just 80% granola like some other places. I got a punch card this visit and will definitely return soon!

Yelp
Huge portion sizes! We got a large original gangster and great white fish bowl. Both were good, but heads up that the large containers are kind of hard to eat out of since they're so tall. It was difficult to mix the bowls without eating all the toppings first. I liked how the great white fish bowls were made with brown rice and topped with macadamia nuts.

Yelp
Stopped by because I was super interested in supporting a business that is about being organic, sourcing local and from sustainable businesses, and because they are about providing and feeding real food! I ordered the great white poke bowl. I thought the brown rice was very well seasoned and the macadamia nuts were a nice touch to top it off, however, the ahi tuna was not as fresh as I expected. I will still support through buying their other products just because their values and mission are what I align with.

Yelp
I love this place. I love acai bowls They changed their menu and added some salty bowls. Very nice staff Nuts bowl is sooooooo good

Yelp
I used to come to this place when it was Basik Cafe and this spot has really fresh options. However, the service here was terrible. I ordered the Green Goliath bowl and asked the woman at the cashier to add the ingredients of the hella green smoothie to the base of the green goliath bowl and that I still wanted all the toppings of the green goliath including the base. When I got my bowl, there were no toppings, so they agreed to remake it with toppings. They remade it with toppings free of charge no problem. When I first tried my second bowl, it tasted like just plant protein, it was very difficult for me to enjoy and tasted like dirt. I tried to explain the other person working the situation and that the first mistake was on their part and not mine. Had my bowl been made properly the first time, I would've been able to actually get something I wanted free of charge instead of paying for the first mistake on their part. The man working rudely told me they already made my order twice and that it wasn't their problem. If I wanted something else I'd have to pay full price again and "our menu items are already crafted a certain way and it wasn't their fault if it tasted like dirt." I hate going karen mode when something isn't good, but I paid $20 for this bowl just to get something I hate and paid for their mistake. Shouldn't have been such a big issue to just get it remade again if i'm paying $20 for it and my order was messed up the first time.

Yelp
Wow!! This was so delicious & the customer service was exceptional. Beautiful outside patio to sit on a hot day and enjoy your Acai bowl. Thank you for a great experience!
google avatar

Yelp
You're not going to Bowl D'Acai for the ambiance, you're going for the "original gangster" Acai Bowl which is packed with fruit, coconut, honey and granola, to your specifications. Best Acai bowl I've ever had!! It's delicious beyond and incredibly refreshing. You can ask for it opened so it's overflowing and start eating it there at one of their basic outdoor tables, or you can get it closed and wait til you get to your destination. I was once there with a bit of a crowd and the server actually brought out all of our orders on a tray-it was adorable and excellent customer service!

Yelp
What a nice cozy place near Union and Polk! The place only has two tables so I would not recommend planning to find a table, but the food options are really healthy and delicious. They have various healthy bowl options whether you're in the mood first something hot or cold. Flavors and freshness are guaranteed and everything is served in a to go container for convenience. May not find a place to sit, but it's definitely worth trying.
google avatar

Michael Z.

Yelp
Great white is WAY too salty. Asked for a side of rice to put the fish over when I explained it was too salty and they wanted to charge me for the rice. Already paid $19 for a protein bowl that I can't finish. Will not be coming back here.
google avatar

Taylor K.

Yelp
NUT ALLERGY PEOPLE BEWARE! This place uses nut based milks in all their bowls/smoothies! They are willing to accommodate and use OJ but cannot guarantee it is 100% allergen free! Berry smoothie was decent. Tasted like something I could make at home. Probably won't come back.

Yelp
Dang, super disappointed. I absolutely loved Bowl'd, but I think today's my last visit. I've been getting this same delicious treat since 2014 when they were a truck down by Mezzanine on Jessie. Todays $15 order shows to be in a much smaller cup with way less of a serving. Honestly when he handed it over, I just felt scammed. Maybe he was butthurt for the 18% tip...I don't know, but it's a bummer because it's previous ratio felt almost fair and was delicious. At that price, for the product, I'll just stop supporting and make my own at home. :/ It was a good 10 years. But I'm out.

Yelp
I was a classical pianist. I won competitions. To play at that level requires an unbelievable amount of dedication, determination and skill. Similarly, a great business like Bowl'D Açaí, owners Reza and Angel make it LOOK easy however to hit it out of the park EVERY visit, EVERY location, EVERY order, that's really exceptional. How it all comes together, like a piano concerto, is a bit of magic. And once I get a taste, I have to have it, I become a little obsessed following around their food trucks like Single White Female. Until now: Bowl'D Açaí also has a new store on the 1900 block of Polk Street in Russian Hill. Wallpapered in a cheery green tropical pattern, the bright colors wake you up before your tastebuds get hit with the clean, lively flavors of their smoothies or a health shot (I recommend the ginger). The ingredients at Bowl'D Açaí are so fresh from line- caught ahi in their Great White poke bowl to the ingredients in the "These Nuts" smoothie from açaí, peanut butter, chia seeds, maca, bee pollen and more. I need to branch out and try something new because once my son (The Incinerator) gets his mitts around his order, it's gone in 60 seconds and I always get the same thing, the Great White, piranha style. The flavors, the uniqueness, the clean, healthy ingredients, you'll quickly become a little obsessed, too. Don't forget the loyalty card, you *will* use it!

Yelp
If you need a good pick-me-up, Bowl'd Acai is definitely the place to be! It's healthy, refreshing, and they have many great drinks to reenergize yourself too. When you walk in, you will probably be graced by the owners of the spot right off the bat at the cash register. They have such great energy and I felt so welcomed coming in, especially during my first time coming here! You can expect some small talk as well! This made me very excited since I've tried them out whenever they have food trucks as well. And they're close by in my neighborhood in Russian Hill which is such a huge plus. The first time, I got the Hella Green Smoothie and the Cold Assassin after the gym. Both were very good! I loved the Cold Assassin especially since it has a spicy kick to it. Their protein bowls are good as well if you want something healthy and hearty after a workout or whatever! I'm for sure going to be a regular here. Somedays I just want a drink to boost my mood after work or something light after the gym, so this place definitely hits the spot for me. And the people are so friendly and helpful too so why wouldn't I come to support their business?

Yelp
Service was food are fine and decent quality but overpriced for whatyou get. Not the biggest fan of the OG acai bowl
google avatar

Yelp
Maybe just me but I'm not a fan of brown rice in my poke bowl. Traditional poke never has brown rice. It just cannot compare to sushi rice, which wasn't even an option here. You need to eat fish with sticky short grain sushi rice and that is the hill I'll die on! The spicy poke was so spicy my mouth hurt. The fish is fresh though and for health nuts, this place may become your dream. However, I will not apologize for my distaste for brown rice.

Yelp
As a devoted fan of acai bowls, I can confidently say that Bowl'D Acai has set a new standard of excellence with their delicious offerings. Their acai blend is smooth, velvety, and bursting with the natural sweetness of the acai berry. The balance of flavors is impeccable, with just the right amount of tanginess and sweetness. They also carry my favorite toppings for acai bowls: fresh strawberries, bananas, granola, coconut flakes, and almond butter. I love the combination of textures and flavors of creamy, crunchy, and juicy elements in every bite. The poke bowl was just okay. I'll be back to try the smoothies!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious acai bowl & smoothies in Lower Nob Hill/Russian Hill. Get your fruit and acai in a smoothie or bowl. Even protein bowls! A large variety of choices. Not as many fruit ingredient choices as another shop. But great tasting & post gym or run meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious yummy delectable tasty flavorful !! Really quick service too!! The peanut butter in the bowl was delicious, I will definitely be going back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
This is San Francisco... so it's going to be pricy. About $20 for a large acai bowl. In Orange County, you pay $10 for the same size Nevertheless, it's delicious! I got "these nuts" and man was it delicious! I loved that it was full of goodness and was very filling. I was not able to finish it because it was simply so much! If you love acai, this is the place for you! 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Lisa X.

Yelp
Delicious açaí bowls. Something so refreshing about eating acai bowls and you feel full after. While the Original gangster bowl was such a bad a$$ way to order out loud, I eventually gravitated towards the These Nuts bowl because hey, it's nuts. Service was friendly and the ambiance is positive. I had these in person and via delivery. Both really good.
google avatar

Yelp
I go here every week almost for a little pick me up. The large bowls are bigger than my head and keep me pretty full! My favorite one is the one with the almond butter if I want something filling and if I want something refreshing their classic bowl is my go to. Their beef broth is also pretty good! The staff is super nice, make sure to ask for a punch card so you can get a free bowl!!!! The place is small, but definitely worth going for the bowls!

Yelp
love this place! walked by on a cold cloudy day and had to try their acai bowl i ordered the large green goliath ($18) because the container was pretty significantly larger than the small ($14.5) the worker was so nice and accommodating, and the bowl was DELICIOUS - although pretty pricey (but it has plant protein) the only improvement id like to see is making the large a wider bowl instead of taller - was harder for me to reach all the layers and mix especially since the toppings are generously and abundantly layered on
google avatar

Jaymee R.

Yelp
They are VERY expensive and the products are decent, in regards to taste. The location (truck at lake Merritt) is almost impossible to park at. I got the Green Goddess premium smoothie. It had a lot of protein (25 grams) from plant protein and that's a plus. The taste was bland like there was no pineapple or mango. No taste but definitely fresh and it was $14.50 for 20 oz's. That's really steep and I wasn't blown away so I wouldn't order it again for that price. I also ordered an original gangster açaí bowl in a large. I was super excited to see different sizes because I'm obsessed with açaí and sometimes I have to order two. The large was $18 and that's not bad for the size but the flavor wasn't good. It was bland like the smoothie and the granola tasted burned. It wasn't the worst but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here. Let me tell you that the tuna bowl was amazing! Fresh, tasty and spicy enough to enjoy it. Angel, the owner was great assisting me. Small talk was very welcoming. I'll definitely be back here whenever I'm in town.
google avatar

Veronica A.

Yelp
What I always get: Original Gangster - 10/10. Their granola is so good. I wish they sold bags of it by itself! I didn't care for their poke, but, it might just be me. My daughter loves the dragon slayer. Customer service has always been very friendly!
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
Ordered through doordash the Gangster Açaí Bowl! Super fresh, delicious, not too sweet and satisfying. The granola bar tasted super healthy and organic, making the bowl more satisfying whilst not leaving you feeling bloated. 10/10 would recommend you try this place for a healthy sweet treat.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
There are food trucks specializing in all sorts of foods, and the menu at Bowl'd Acai featured (you guessed it) açaí bowls, built on a creamy smoothie base of pureed organic acai, strawberries, and bananas. The "Original Gangster" bowl came with toppings of banana, strawberries, and blueberries, as well as granola and coconut shavings, which added a nice earthy crunch. But the item I liked even more than the açaí bowl was the Great White Poke Bowl, which came on a base of brown rice with coconut oil and spinach, topped with ahi tuna chunks marinated with soy sauce, sesame oil, orange juice, ginger, and garlic, topped with green onion, black sesame seeds, and crushed macadamia nuts, which added a fantastic crunch. Both of these bowls were great selections made of quality ingredients, though the prices were certainly high for what we got.

Yelp
I feel like the luckiest girl in the world right now. After completing 7 miles run/ walk at Lake Chabot, I figured I had time to stop by the Lake Merritt Farmer's Market. While there I was craving something super healthy and fun. I found myself aimlessly walking around the area with no clear sense of direction to find an Açaí bowl. On my way back from the completely wrong direction the Bowl'D Açaí good truck appeared. It was meant to be! After examining the menu I ordered the Original Gangster in small. While awaiting my order I checked in on yelp, after doing so a coupon for a free ginger shot appeared. As I was picking up my order I asked if it were possible to redeem the coupon and they obliged. I got a free ginger shot! My Açaí bowl is beautiful and tastes even better. Did I mention it was much bigger than I expected!? I enjoyed the ginger shot as well but know it is SPICY in a good way. I was able to take my items an sit on the wall while enjoying the live performance by the Aloha Uke Squad. I look forward to returning to have another Açaí bowl or maybe try the smoothies they offer.
google avatar

Fanny W.

Yelp
Spotted the food truck on a Sunday afternoon @ Lake Merritt. What I/We Ordered: + Original Gangster, 5/5 + Beef Bone Broth, 5/5 Super refreshing on a warm day in Oakland. I left out the honey and coconut shavings for my bowl. Açaí was supppper cold, loved it! Strawberries, bananas, and granola go so well with the açaí. Gave my blueberries away. My partner ordered the bone broth (on a hot day?!). No complaints! Would stop by again!

Yelp
Bowl'D Açaí, This is a letter to you all who work there. First, let talk about the dedication, passion and inclusiveness y'all exude. I absolutely feel all the things I listed above & 100% more on top of that. Although I D-Dash I still feel the love. Through my very often ordering you guys & gals have come to give me a nickname "DD" and put it on my bag most times along with a nice drawing time to time. (Yes, I've noticed). Even to go the extra-mile and throw a loyalty card in the bag . Thank you so very much! I appreciate you all. Now, the OG w/ PB is my every day morning cravings for breakfast even on my off days. I can easily picture my in the hot summer in the afternoon in the city. The BEST day ever with an OG w/ PB (I can't wait). I do agree and promised myself that I need to try other items on the menu and will do so this year. I also plan to visit the actual location soon to show more love & support. Everyone out there, Go Get Bowl'D! Because... #YaGottaEat2Live

Yelp
Visited the truck in Walnut Creek & appreciated the great service! We got immune booster shots, açaí bowls, a smoothie and a poke bowl. Needless to say, EVERYTHING was delicious. There was contactless payment and hand sanitizer available. We went about lunch time and there was no rush. Truck was a bit tucked in so we missed it as we drove by and were only able to see it once we walked back. There is street parking available on the opposite side of the street since they are located on the main side on N main st. You can also find additional parking in the garage. In terms of price for quality I believe it was fairly priced. All the items in the photo were a sum of $60 including tip. Really enjoyed the açaí (had both almond and peanut butter on mine since I couldn't decide ) the shots were exactly as you thought immunity shots would taste - good for those antioxidants. The poke was also great only thing is I wish they served it in a more short and wider bowl vs tall and slim as it makes mixing contexts hard . I did ask for the spicy sauce on the side just to try and glad that was my choice since it does have a kick. Overall great experience, customer service and food
google avatar

Yelp
I thought this place was new, but apparently they upgraded from a food truck to a brick n mortar store. I was obsessed with the establishment that they took over (Basik Cafe) so I had high expectations. I tried the Green Goliath first, and it was decent, but the Acai base was a bit watery. So subsequently I ordered the Original Gangster, thinking that it would reedeem itself. Although the base was preferably more viscous, it still tasted flat compared to other Acai bowls. I would come again, but not one of the best Acai bowls in my book. Ps. They also offer poke bowls and bone broth

Yelp
I've been a major fan of Bowl'd açaí ever since I walked the 2 miles from my office to their minna street food truck location during the busy lunch rush in the fidi a couple years ago. The power walking for my one hour lunch break was well worth the treat I received at the finish line (well halfway point). I was THRILLED to see that same food truck resurface on my beloved marina green during quarantine the past few months. They've been parking around marina green or fort mason on weekends and serving up delicious Açaí bowls, smoothies and poké bowls! Highly recommend the green Goliath bowl. The small is plenty in terms of size, the large is HUGE! The toppings are super fresh and the flavors are absolutely delicious. Cannot recommend enough. I've also had their smoothies in the past which are also mighty tasty. I have not had any poke bowls but they look mighty good if that's your thing! Thanks for relocating to the Marina area to keep us sane during quarantine! Açaí bowls make everyone happier!!
google avatar

Yelp
Love visiting the Sunset Mercantile Outer Sunset Farmer's Market on weekends & have tried Bowl'D Açaí a couple of times. Ingredients are always fresh and the food is always good! The poke bowl is pretty solid! Very hearty and a generous serving of fish. Could use a bit more toppings/less rice, but still enjoy getting this bowl every now & then.
google avatar

Yelp
I miss their truck which used to be at Spark Social in Mission Bay so I made a trip to Polk ST today. If there is a better bowl of poke in SF I have not had it. Quality tuna, nicely cubed. Tasty sauce made with GF soy sauce (a must for me). They customize the heat level to your taste. Orange zest & a generous serving of macadamia nuts!!! Fresh baby spinach and brown rice (which I leave out). My only complaint is that, no matter how I beg, they can't keep from filling up the container all the way. I try to get them to cut back on the spinach so there's a little room to naviagate through the poke to the greens. No worries if you toss it in a big bowl back at home.
google avatar

May Z.

Yelp
I always go to the truck when its at Lake Merritt. It is really what got my poke addiction started. Their spicy tuna poke bowl is next level. The spicy chili oil, the fish, the spinach, the short grain brown rice- exceptional. Its a lil pricy but that is because its quality is out of this world. The customer service is so kind and friendly. Just had to give them a quick review, because I LOVE THEM!
google avatar

Ginalorie D.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've had great tasting açaí bowl until I've found Bowl'D Açaí! I went simple by ordering the Original Gangsta - regular size and wow, it was heaping with fresh strawberries, blueberries, bananas, coconut flakes, golden honey and tasty oats. It wasn't soupy or lacking any fruit but with each spoonful was delicious and refreshing. I'm coming back and the next time, I'm ordering their Poke bowl. Gotta go there!
google avatar

Kristy F.

Yelp
This review is based on the original gangster acai bowl... very disappointed. The strawberries and the blueberries are sour and the banana is too ripe. The acai itself is okay but not enough flavor to overcome the sourness of the unripened and over-ripened fruit as well as the unpleasant burnt aftertaste of the granola. For $14.50, this is probably one of the worst açaí bowls I've ever had. Maybe it's an off day for them but the fruit should at least be ripe/ready. Such a waste :(
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
Many years ago this food truck was at the SF Bay Brazilian Day & Lavagem Festival in Berkeley and when I noticed it near Lake Merritt on Grand Avenue the past few months, I said to myself, hey, I want an acai bowl. So the next time, I'm not in a hurry and I find a close parking spot, I'll get me some! So today was the day as I just had a relaxing massage, and was looking for something refreshing and there was a free parking spot right behind the truck (there was money still on the meter!). So I ordered the original gangster! It was delish and worth waiting for even though it is $12!!! I enjoyed every bite!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Very clean but very very pricey. Spent $29.00 total on an OG açaí bowl and a dragon slayer smoothie. The açaí bowl tasted quite watery... but the toppings were good! The smoothie was also watery tasting but had a good thickness to it and the peanut butter taste saved it.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
I love that the small/regular size bowl is filled with toppings and the entire portion is enough for one meal. Thickness of the açaí base is pretty good (not watery). A bit pricey but would stop by for a treat if I'm in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute little food truck! The aesthetic was the best thing ever! The truck presented itself as a very clean and modern truck. It's parked near a seating area under the trees! They also have many options and add ons! I believe they also have Poke Bowls!!! The staff there was also very welcoming! He even took a boomerang of us, haha! The Acai Bowl was packed with great nutrients and helped me stay full for a little bit before continuing my journey in SF! P.S. It's also a good place to take pics

Yelp
Was that annoying delivery patron who asked for "extra spicy". Super kind of them ad they even provided a large extra side of the Piranha sauce. Great people and great food! Thanks Bowl's Açaí!

Yelp
I drove to this address thinking it was Basik cafe but soon realized another acai store had taken its place. Bowl'D Acai use to be just a food truck place but has its own store now! I was excited because I've never tried their food truck before, but sadly the acai bowl was mediocre. I got the original gangster which was a base blended w/ acai, banana and strawberry topped with granola (I opted out), strawberry, banana, blueberry, coconut shavings, and honey. The acai base was lacking in flavor and the fruits didn't taste fresh. The cashier was extremely friendly and radiated this big positive energy! (makes me sad that I didn't love the product) I decided to try this place out hoping it'd would bring back fond memories of when I use to go to Basik cafe back in college but I was disappointed. For $14 a bowl (small size; menu doesn't specify oz), there are other acai bowls I'd choose over this. Acai bowl: 2/5 Service: 5/5

Yelp
Even though I live pretty close by, it's taken me quite a while to come by when the big gunmetal gray truck was parked in Mint Plaza. Like four years. Meanwhile, açaí bowls have been popping up everywhere, and whether they're Brazilian or Hawaiian, I've tried a lot of them though I'm no açaí connoisseur. I'll leave that to skinny girls who probably survive on the small size cups with absolutely no toppings because that's how they starve themselves. Not me. Bring it on. I stepped onto the riser and ordered their signature bowl, the $11.50 Original Gangster, which was piled like a sundae with a foundation of organic açaí blend with layers of granola, fresh strawberry chunks, and banana slices. It's topped with blueberries, coconut shavings, and honey (photo: http://bit.ly/2GYQCdT). Yep, it was a tasty dessert in the middle of the afternoon, but the sticker shock is more in the calorie count than the higher-than-average price. It's a whopping 735 calories for 12 ounces. I came back today after starting my work day before sunrise. I was walking on my way home and thought it was time to return just before they close up the truck. I made it and went for the $11.50 These Nuts, which shared the same açaí base as the gangster but took it to the next level of decadence with organic peanut butter, hemp seed, and sliced almonds (photo: http://bit.ly/2GYFz4n). The peanut butter took it over the top as the total calorie count was a stratospheric 958 for 12 ounces. Guess I just had my dinner, too. FOOD - 4 stars...no arguing the fresh flavors but those toppings come at a price AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...well, the plaza is nice if you aren't surrounded by talkative tech heads SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly TOTAL - 4 stars...time to go to the gym RELATED - There are lots of dining options in this part of SoMa. Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2H0vGTV
