When I first walked in, I was assaulted by the smell of what can only be described as public restroom mixed with cigarette smoke. My boyfriend was visiting from out of town and we thought this would be a nice fun family activity. We were wrong. For a $100 reservation for 5 people, I expect at least a smile when we walk up to the front desk. When we arrived, they tried to squeeze us between two chaotic lanes filled with screaming children, and the table they gave us was bizarrely far from our lane—with people on either side completely blocking our view.
To make matters worse, the staff at the front desk treated us like we were inconveniencing them, which was especially frustrating because my dad had a boot on from a minor surgery and needed to be closer to the lane. When we asked to move, we were told no because “a league was coming”. There was zero accessibility consideration. I have worked in customer service a lot, and I know things can get hectic. But the bowling alley was not busy, and it would’ve been nice to be cared about as a customer.
When we decided to ask for a refund, we were also turned down. Although the manager was WAY nicer and way more accommodating than the girl at the front desk, we were told that the Bowlero website where we made our reservation was not affiliated with the bowling alley, so we couldn’t get a refund. She did help remedy the situation, and she gave us some free 2 hours of bowling passes.
